Outside the Dodgers 
Let’s hope the Dodgers can generate some offense and the defense can eliminate the errors. Can’t ask much more from the pitching.
They’ve been playing .500 (13-13) for the last month and even that’s a miracle. They’ve been no-hit and 2-hit in the last week and a half. They’ve scored virtually nothing when Eovaldi pitches. Loney appears apathetic to the game. Gordon is no leadoff hitter. Dre’s vastly overrated and is basically a doubles hitter. Kersh isn’t pitching anywhere near last season. And this so-called defensive club Ned built is anything but…
I can easily see a sweep by the Giants and their pitching coming up, and enough hitting by the Angels to easily take 2 of 3 if not all 3.
And in iterleague play, I believe the DH for the Dodgers means “defensive hitter.”
Got Smarts…….we are in desperate need of a new GM and especially a new pitching coach.
Yay…we made it through the first inning without giving up a run!

While I doubt the Dodger players are “going through the motions”, it does look as if something is missing. Yes, the opposing pitching has been good but as I have said many times, the Dodgers will have to overcome good pitching to win some games here and there. With Ethier in one of his slumps, the other guys are slumping as well. I will never understand how an entire team can go into a slump together but we have seen this many times before. Hopefully the Dodgers will find some offense tomorrow.
No surprise we never do well in Oakland 2-11 in Oakland and I knew we was going to lose at least 2 of the games.

Both pitchers are doing a great job. I especially like pitcher’s duels – but it’s time for the Dodgers’ bats to wake up and do what they were intended to do.
Too bad Kershaw isn’t batting. The rest of the lineup isn’t capable of much right now. The A’s pitchers can’t possibly be that good.

Not exactly the way to get ready for the Angels at all.
The Dodgers continue to struggle in interleague games but what is more disturbing with this series is the lack of hitting and the inability to get anything going. When the Dodgers lost that series to the Brewers and when they played the Angels at Dodger Stadium, the games were close. The Dodgers had opportunites. These past few games the Dodgers have not even had many scoring opportunities. I am sure they are trying but it just looks like something is missing, and not just Matt Kemp. Let’s hope the Dodgers can rebound against the Angels.
Hard for me to tell what is lacking (besides base hits) from where I am. I don’t see the games, but obviously something is missing. The pitchers are OK, but as lbirken says, it’s more than Kemp. These things can change over night, so all we can do is sit tight. I’ve said in the past, they need Reggie Smith to go into the clubhouse and turn over some tables, but that probably isn’t the answer either. Something needs to change, though, or we’re in second place by the end of this road trip.

Obviously we need a couple of bats, but which of our pitchers do give up to get them?
I’ve never been a big stat’s guy…I will say stat’s have their place… Although, I’ve always been a believer that momentum is a big catalist to winning ballgames. Right now we have very little of it…Bills has struggled, Kersh has had less than stellar outings…Andre has been in a slump, when the team needs him most. Although, I am not laying all the blame on these guy’s…Uribe may be a good clubhouse guy, but he ain’t doing his job on the field, and hasn’t since we signed him. Loney is what he is…The youngsters, have been playing above their heads up to this point…but we need the veterens to step up. Uribe and Rivera coming back should have relieved some of the stress the kids have been dealing with…and dealing with well considering…. Gordon is wet behind the ears, he is going to struggle, I am sure he will only improve, in all aspects of the game. Just as Kemp did, and when he figures a few things out, he will be an asset that we will cherish. We are still in a good place, standing wise and noone here…noone including myself, would have thought that to be the case two months ago. We need a spark and at this point, we need the guy’s making the big bucks, to provide it…then it will trickle down the line, instead of vise versa. Momentum is what fires up a line-up and makes the seemingly impossible…possible. Go Blue!!

Also…I know we can do better than Ned!! Frank hired him on the cheap…like he did everyone else. He may be a good fit somewhere else…but we deserve much better!!
Dodger injuries are finally taking their toll in the standings. Journeymen vets and AAA players thrust into starting roles means a weak line-up and an even weaker bench. Gwynn, Herrera, Hairston and Abreu make for a nice bench when rested, but playing these guys everyday is not what the great and mysterious Wizard of Ned had in mind. Trading for a PVL first basemen (Carlos Lee, Kevin Youkilis) makes little sense. If Kasten wants to really make an impact on this club, he will somehow channel Campanis’ golden touch and come up with a legitimate 3rd baseman–now and for the future. I can’t watch Uribe step in the bucket and flail away one more day.

One bat isn’t going to fix this team, and THAT’S why they NEVER should’ve signed Dre long term and instead held him out for a king’s ransom in prospects at the trade deadline. There’s no one player you can trade for at the deadline, and no one FA (in a bad FA year coming up) you can sign that will fix what ails this team, and that’s lack of quality players at 1B, 2B, 3B, and LF, not to mention CF until Kemp gets back. Dee is going to go through a couple years learning and may still emerge as a #8 hitter, AJ is better than we expected, but playing as much as he does it will take its toll soon, and Billz and Harang are 5th starters at best.
They may win 1-0, 2-1 now and then, but I’m not seeing Koufax, Drysdale, Osteen and Sutton out on the mound either, so I wouldn’t count on that happening all that often.
You can blame injuries if you want, but the simple fact is, Rivera and Uribe were going to be getting a ton of playing time, which means that Gwynn and some infielder were going to be playing a lot as well because anyone in the world but Ned could’ve told you that old farts get hurt a lot. They could’ve also told you that peple like Rivera and Abreu and Treanor are cast off their former teams for a reason. Add to the fact that the farm is absolutely devoid of position players either through bad drafts or total incompetence and disaster was only a matter of time.
And disaster is the one thing you can always count on with Ned running the show. It may not be today. It may not be tomorrow, but it WILL come.
