A New Low

I wanted to put this on the new post again only to find there isn’t any yet. So, 32, take a break. I got this.

Knowing now that Kersh won’t face a suspension, I’d like to say that he put himself in for Team Leader when he led the yelling, and cemented it when he hit the little twerp.

The title of this does not refer to last night’s loss. It’s a reference to (no guessing)……….ATTENDANCE!

Only 25,381 paid. A season low. Two straight games under 30,000 for the second time this season (Games 8 & 9). Three of the last five and four of the last seven have been under 30K. Keep this up for the rest of the season and perhaps we can hit 700K.

It appeared there were more people in the stands last night, as opposed to the night before.
Glad to read Kersh is cleared of the suspension talk.

    • JhallWally says:

Hi’Ya Dad/Eric. Thanks for the latest attendance stats and the new thread. Lowest paid attendance of the year. Wow. It did look like there were more people there than the previous couple of nights.

  2. trublu4ever says:

If Frankrupt wants to really see a “low”…just let him hold on to this team and, see how his season tickets sales go next season.

It did seem as though there were more people there last night (against the lowly Pirates) than when we played our division rival D’backs, the night before.

  3. trublu4ever says:

I love the fact that we have two new threads on the same day. Outside The Dodgers is awesome!

  4. 32and53fan says:

Eric, I was really busy yesterday and did not get started on my new thread until midnight. Every night, I check the posts page to see if there are any pending posts before deciding what to write and got distracted by the sheer amount of information to plow through to plan for my whirlwind tour of New York. I did not publish this until way late and didn’t see that you had published yours by then.

As I said in my post, I am planning to just publish place holder posts during my trip. If you or anybody else wants to publish posts for next Thursday through Saturday, I’m sure they will be more entertaining than just “Sept. 22 Game Chat.”

    • dodgereric says:

No offense taken, my friend! I sometimes think of you furiously rushing after midnight to get something written and I thought perhaps this would be one of those times. Your stuff is great and your work here for all of us is even greater. You’re one of my heros!

      • trublu4ever says:

        I’ll second that!

      • 32and53fan says:

Thanks for the complement. I appreciate all the work and number crunching that go into your daily attendance report.

My main goal for starting this blog was just to have a more reliable place for the ITD group to gather without time warp, spin and marketing crap to deal with. I just wanted a blog with a new place to chat every day. The topic is not important other than to maybe spark a conversation. The fonts and style of this blog makes it much easier to follow a comment thread than on ITD which is an added bonus.

My posts have sometimes been a little off the wall. I will think of what happened in a game or the latest situation with the team and maybe a catch phrase will pop in my head. That leads to a search for a picture or a Youtube video and voila, a post is born. I am not too great with analysis, or maybe I am just too lazy to do the research and write an intelligent post.

Lately, I start thinking about a post while watching a DVR of the game or post game show. I usually start out with the boilerplate of the day in Dodgers history. Sometimes that gives me an idea for the post. After it is written, I use the schedule function to publish it at midnight. If I have been busy or distracted, then sometimes I do furiously rush after midnight to make sure a new post is ready for the next day.

Hello Outsiders. Real stinker of a game last night. Eveland is what he is. Another mediocre #5 starter prospect. Maybe a cheap middle inning relief guy and spot starter. Oh wait, we have already got a mediocre middle innings reliever signed for $9M for the next two years. Grrrear by any other name, is a Cormier. Freaking Ned.

Anyway, I think it is crunch time if we have any hope of finishing above .500. 12 games left and we need to go 8 and 4. If we don’t sweep the remaining 3 games against the Pirates at home, I don’t think we will do it. Probably not that important anyway. It will only add to Nedcompoops dillusions that this is really a good team that just had some bad luck and alot of injuries. Don’t kid yourself Neddy, this team has major flaws that players like Rivera, Loney, Barajas, Miles, etc…. aren’t going to fix. Don’t waste money on these stiffs and their like when you need to use all your resources to get a long term deal done with Kemp. That should be your #1 off season objective.

  6. JhallWally says:

Hey Tru, I’ve got the pronunciation of Federwicz for you.

  7. trublu4ever says:

I’m hoping tonights game will not be a repeat of last nights PUFF!

Lineup – Let’s Try Something Different

    Gordon ss
    Sellers 3b
    Kemp cf
    Rivera lf
    Sands rf
    Barajas c
    Mitchell 1b
    Carroll 2b
    Kuroda p

Mitchell plays 1B, Sellers tries 3B – let’s see their capabilities.

Sands plays RF – somebody was listening

To follow up on something from last night, thanks to Wally for the link to see the stupid survey sent to season ticket holders. What a waste of time. Certainly there are many who will renew their tickets but are still unhappy with ownership and the performance on the field. What about all those folks who are not season ticket holders and have not been buying tickets? Don’t their opinions count?

Why in the world does anyone need a survey to determine if there is a problem with ownership? Seems to me there has been plenty of discussion about this. I have to believe the Dodgers receive complaints by email, snail mail and such every day. Didn’t anyone have the guts to tell the McCourts whatever image they had prior to the divorce would be damaged by all the revelations about how money has been spent and their over the top life style? Had they no clue their family would be embarrassed by all of this? Finally, even if the McCourts were decent human beings, the fact they cannot manage finances better and make sure the Dodgers were the best organization it could be on and off the field is enough to disatisfy their customers.

    • JhallWally says:

      Thanks Birk. Very interesting to get real feel of the situation from those actually involved. The general consensus I get from what I’ve read is that it is “Silly” as you stated and just an inane effort because;
#1-The answer is obvious to begin with, and,
#2-It doesn’t matter because it is not going all of a sudden make Frank wake up, change his course of action, do the right thing for everyone (except the lawyers and himself included) involved, and sell the franchise lock, stock, and barrell.

  10. JhallWally says:

Well, will Kurodas’ pain in the neck be a pain in our ass tonight or a thorn in the side of the Pirates?

Regardless, I hope the team makes their pitcher work, throw alot of pitches early, and have some quality ABs. Unlike last night. Our veteran core (Kemp, Rivera, and Loney) failed miserably last night. Not surprising from Rivera and Loney as they are mediocre, peripheral players at best regardless of a 2 to 4 week hot streak. I think Kemp is basically swinging for the fence to get 40 HRs. The last week or so he hasn’t been the patient hitter that got him to this point.

  11. trublu4ever says:

    Ugh…Star Wars Night!

  12. trublu4ever says:

I guess it’s too much to ask for Kuroda to give us a 3-up, 3-down inning!

  13. trublu4ever says:

  14. trublu4ever says:

Way to go Jerry & Rod!

  15. JhallWally says:

I think we all knew going into this year counting heavily on Furcal and Blake and a supporting cast of Barajas/Navarro, Uribe, Gibbons/Thames was not going to go well. And that doesn’t even address the pitching flops. Padilla, Garland, Broxton, Grrrear, Billz, Lilly, Kuo, Bellisario, etc……

  16. JhallWally says:

Crap!! Carroll isn’t worth a shit with RISP!!!

  17. trublu4ever says:

Damn, it looks like a pretty decent crowd tonight.

  18. trublu4ever says:

    Way to go Matty…111 rbis

  19. Love him, hate him, hitting or not, this line-ups just not the same without Dre.

It seriously shows the lack of anyone halfway capable being available to step in. I’ve a feeling we’ll long rue the day Ned traded Robinson.

  20. JhallWally says:

Well Beav, I hear the Dodgers have an opening for someone who is good at putting lipstick on pigs.

  21. How is it Gordon seems to “get it” on how to use his speed, whereas JP didn’t?

  22. trublu4ever says:

Enchanted ~ Nedaholic…..he has driven ME to drink 😉

  23. trublu4ever says:

Way to go, Hiro! Looking more and more like Lilly!

  24. trublu4ever says:

    Well, isn’t this the shits?!

  25. Why is it so full tonight?

    Can someone answer me this?

Pavilions near full and most stadium at 70% or better full.

  26. Pretty sad especially this time of year when you look down your bench and Miles is your best pinch hitter.

  27. JhallWally says:

Yeah, bring back Miles and let Carroll go. Sellers can handle Carrolls role.

  28. nedisajerk says:

A nice little gapper from Gordon would look so nice.

  29. nedisajerk says:

Nothing much waiting for this season to end and the Giants season to end to but the Dback lose. I can’t wait for the soccer playoff to start, basketball season to start if there is one and hockey so Drew Doughty need to hurry up and get sign.

    • JhallWally says:

Cool.. Glad college football is here.

      • nedisajerk says:

Nice win by the Raiders last week. I hope that game the Bills had was a fluke last week when they kill the Chiefs.

        • vl4eccjr says:

Chiefs have a weaker pass defense. Fitzpatrick will fizzle against the Raiders ‘D’. Run DMC & company will run it down their throats. . .

          • vl4eccjr says:

Jason Campbell doesn’t impress much either. I expect DMC & Bush to put up huge numbers. TE Boss is active this week too. 🙂

          • Shame that most of the WR’s are out, and Boss is coming off an injury. Cambell isn’t top notch, and he isn’t crap. He’s like Vince Young, except one can run and the other can’t. No more Osumugha and DMC is about all they have. Jacoby Ford is questionable but he’s better as a kick returner, with him getting jamed vs. Defenses.

          • vl4eccjr says:

Kickoff returns for TD’s will probably be at an all time low this year with the rule change. Too many touchbacks going too deep in the end zone now to bring them out.

          • Seems Opening Week was a boom for Kick return TD’s..

Hope 49’ers or Texans D continues their impressive tears on Offenses and that Benson, Hightower, Felix Jones, and Tate have monster weekends. That’s all.

          • nedisajerk says:

The Raiders always seem to lead the league in penalty. I hope Janikowski and Lechler never retired.

          • I’m a Chargers fan, and losing our kicker, Kaeding was either a great thing with his crap of screwing us over 2x in the playoffs, or a horrible thing. Ehhh..

Raiders Janikowsky could face jail for battery of a woman, so he might have to retire, and Lechler, his leg will fall off eventually.

  30. trublu4ever says:

  31. vl4eccjr says:

    WTG JAMES!!! Number 10.

  32. nedisajerk says:

    WTG Loney #10

  33. And there he goes again..He’s probably gonna end up hitting 12 HR’s and end up as 3rd most HR hitter on this team.

    Imagine this:

    1. Matt Kemp (33)
    2. Rod Barajas (16)
    3. James Loney (10)
    4. Andre Ethier (10)

  34. JhallWally says:

WTG Loney!!! That HR just might have got him tendered. Hell, he’s gonna end up having as good a year as Ethier. Although both are still disappointing. They will both have to have better years if the Dodgers are gonna be a contender.

    • Ethier will need to sign long term or take a pay cut and Loney, same thing, or he’ll get traded.

      • Matter of fact, Billz will probably be shipped off for some parts, or Bunnynutts will get bounced for his crappy teaching to the kids.

      • JhallWally says:

They are both going to arbitration. Neither one deserves a raise, and really should take a pay cut. In arbitration the lowest the team can offer is 20% less than the previous years salary. That would be 7.4M for Ethier and around 4.5M for Loney.

        • Of course, they could sign a long term deal with a start deal @ 7.4 and for 4 years increase that by 1 mil, then 1/2 mil, then 1 mil and then 1/2 mil, so it would be 2012 7.4, 2013 8.4, then 2014 9 mil, and $10 mil for 2015..That seems like a good route, so long as he doesn’t get a NTC.

For Loney, either he signs for less or gets traded. He needs to see how seasonal production helps instead of part time work.

  35. nedisajerk says:

This should be the game that Kuo bounce back. I hope he do well but I still miss the last year Kuo.

  36. trublu4ever says:

41,148 paid attendance or as Vinny just said, tickets sold.

  37. Only Ned would pay a set-up man price and get a mop-up quality pitcher. For three years no less.

  38. JhallWally says:

Alright, we win!! Still a reasonable shot at finishing above .500.

  39. trublu4ever says:

    YAY….A WIN!

  40. Good win tonight..Now if only they could win the next 2, and then sweep last couple series’, that would make me a very happy boy..

Just pass G’nats and ill be happy given the circumstances..

  41. Nice win. Catch you all tomorrow.
