Happy New Year!

Happy new year and thanks to all the OTD contributors who have made this a fun place to talk Dodger baseball.

I hope that 2012 will be the last we have to endure Frank McCourt and a new owner will be in charge.   It will be interesting to see which owners group emerges out of those in the running.

I don’t have much hope that the current roster will make it to the World Series but anything is possible.

Happy New Year OTD!!!! I think seeing the end of Frank McCourt will be enough for me to consider it a winning season in 2012. Everything else is just icing on the cake for the Dodgers.

Me too…Happy New Year OTD…..and, telling Frank good riddance would be the best thing for the Dodgers and their fans.

  3. Happy New Year – Happy new owner – yeah it’s gonna be a fine season for us fans no matter what our guys do on the field. It’s time to break out the Frank-B-Gone and tell him to hit the road.

  4. Happy New Year
It looks like a win, win season for the Dodgers. Changing ownership
will definitely be a very big victory and a new start.

  6. Happy New Years to all on here…

Interesting. With Torre resigning to seek ownership of the Dodgers, it makes me wonder who he’s in cahoots with. Something doesn’t smell right with Selig in this scenario.
Call me paranoid or whatever, but due to the underhanded crooked dealings of the current owner, I’m suspicious.

  9. lbirken says:

Folks, I know we all want to believe that anyone or any group would be better than Frank McCourt as Dodger owner but clearly things are not that simple. I definitely do not want some investment group, especially foreign money, owning the Dodgers and running it with bean counters. On the other hand, the next owner will need deep pockets not only to pay whatever the final price may be but to put back into the organization, scouting, player development and stadium improvements. Usually I am a positive person when it comes to sports; anything can happen. but I share VL4’s skepticism and suspician about MLB and this entire process. And I share by lack of exce enthusiasm at the mention of Joe Torre.

  10. DodgerZona says:

I would prefer Dennis Gilbert or Magic Johnson groups…Is it april yet lol

  11. selltheteam says:

Nine out of nine OTDers prefer someone other than Torre.

  12. nedisajerk says:

Happy Bday Lilly and bench coach Hillman.

  13. DodgerZona says:

    yes selltheteam

  14. I don’t think my opinion will settle this issue and I think all this excitement over Torre will be over by Friday or so. I am a little surprised that he resigned his job with the commissioner, unless he’s been promised it back if his group fails in it’s bidding for the team.. Well time will tell.

  15. Did anyone see/hear the interview of Steve Garvey and Orel Hershiser during the Clipper game? They were talking about how much they’re looking forward to bidding on the Dodgers because they’re both so LA-oriented and love the franchise. We shall see.

  16. The above video by GUBOT is really good and shows that the Dodgers are really making the headlines all over the world. There is nice article in N.Y. ‘s Daily News on Joe Torre, which was expected.

  17. koufax1963 says:

I want to hear JoJo say, he will change the mangement if he buys the dodgers. Would insist on a new pitching coach, I bet he would stop short of firing NED, and it is a given Donnie would still manage.
He has been working with Kim Ng, for quite awhile and I am ready for her to take over GM duties.
Joe has been with Selig for a year and don’t know if that is good or bad. I believe Selig does not like Frank, but at one time let Frank in in the MLB club ownership, so is Selig a good judge of character?
Something smells rotton on the east side, and it is not the tacos or the clams. Could this of been “a Plan” since 2008/2009?
Bring me a owner with a deep pocket, and ethical stance and a love for the Dodgers!
