    Our lineup for tonight:

    Gordon
    Ramirez
    Puig
    Gonzalez
    Kemp
    Ethier
    Ellis (welcome back AJ)
    Figgins (frack!)
    Kershaw

  2. messagebear says:

Wowee! Figgins at 3rd base – power slot!
On the good side we might play an entire game without a passed ball.

  3. oldbrooklynfan says:

To Crash or whoever Else it may concern
I won’t make any more statements on this, I promise.
In regards to using your best pitcher for the Wild Card game. I don’t know how other teams would go, but I think Mattingly would just continue with the rotation.

  4. enchantedbeaver says:

I see Billz is toast. Not that Ned could’ve foreseen TJ surgery +, but that was yet another one of Ned’s no return three year deals.

  5. crzblue says:

    2 run homer by Matty!

  6. oldbrooklynfan says:

Nice to see Kemp belt one out.
What is it lately? When the Dodgers score the opposing team comes right back almost immediately.
No matter who we got pitching.

  7. enchantedbeaver says:

These are the most sorry-assed hitters I’ve ever seen in my life.

  8. crash24now says:

    Opportunity wasted.

  9. enchantedbeaver says:

Something I thought I’d never see once, let alone twice in my lifetime – Kings as Stanley Cup Champions. Congratulations to them.

  10. crash24now says:

    Nice hit for A-Gon!

  11. enchantedbeaver says:

Great pitcher Wilson. I’m sure Kersh is relieved he’s in there.

  12. crash24now says:

    What a bum, Brian Wilson.

    • enchantedbeaver says:

How can a pitcher go from being so good, to being so bad over the course of one offseason?

      I know, Ned re-signed him.

  13. enchantedbeaver says:

Clutch hit for a change. Way to go Turner.

  14. lbirken says:

The reason this blog has taken the current tone is simple: we all expected so.ergo g far different than what we have so far. We expected Wilson to be better, we expected Agon and Ramirez to be better or at least no worse than last season. We expected the players to focus on winning the division and get to the World Series. We did not expect the team to struggle at home. We expected the bullpen to shut down hitters late in the game. We expected Uribe to be at least as good as he was last season. We expected the outfield logjam to resolve itself. Let’s hope we did not expect too much.

    • 32and53fan says:

I expect the Dodgers to get better, and the Giants to get worse. I expect Crawford, Ethier and Kemp to stop grumbling when they aren’t in the lineup.

Vin Scully gave a terrific speech at the Reagan Library the other day. One thing that he said that was wrong with baseball is the long guaranteed contracts. He said players that go into slumps aren’t as concerned as in the days of one year contracts.

      Check it out: http://youtube.com/watch?v=DtNJQ6gP8W4

  15. lbirken says:

It may not be pretty and it may not be easy but we got the win.

  16. crash24now says:

Got ‘er done. Never a doubt.

  17. oldbrooklynfan says:

Very nice game with clutch hitting by Ramirez and Turner.
    Bullpen was very good.WE WIN.

  18. trublu4ever says:

Shhhh, don’t tell anyone, Gnats are losing 7-4 in 9th, 1 out. Fingers crossed.

  19. oldbrooklynfan says:

That was a big win last night coinciding with the Giants loss. I hope it’s the beginning of some winning ways at Dodger stadium, which, as we all know, has been lacking these days.

  20. trublu4ever says:

Woo-Hoo…..Giants lose again. Thanks to Romo and the hotdog, Pagan!

  21. 32and53fan says:

    Dodgers lineup vs. Dbacks:
    Gordon 2B
    Ramirez SS
    Puig RF
    Gonzalez 1B
    Kemp LF
    Ethier CF
    Ellis C
    Rojas 3B
    Haren P

Since the Giants lost, tonight is another opportunity to knock a game off of their lead. Just bear down and execute like you guys are capable of doing. Shorten your swing on a count with two strikes. With those things and a bit of luck, we can keep the winning streak alive.

    • crash24now says:

Play sharp defense. Let Haren pitch seven innings if he’s doing a good job. Bring in relievers who are going to get the job done. When Gordon is on first base, give him a chance to steal before you waste the out bunting him over. Hit the ball, don’t over swing.

  22. oldbrooklynfan says:

Well this should be a good night.

  23. 32and53fan says:

Figgins on DL for quad problem. Carlos Triunfel (Who???) up from Albuquerque.

  24. Not exactly an auspicious beginning for the game.

  25. oldbrooklynfan says:

I hope that’s not the game.

  26. trublu4ever says:

    SpeeDee does it!

  27. oldbrooklynfan says:

A Dee Gordon HR, take a picture of that. 2-2.

  28. trublu4ever says:

    Haren is pissing me off!

  29. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Unbelievable!!!!!!

  30. enchantedbeaver says:

Finally! A big knock with the bases loaded.

  31. crash24now says:

Excellent double by Haren!!! 3 RBI!

  32. trublu4ever says:

    I’m in shock!

  33. trublu4ever says:

I’m impressed with Rojas’ glove work.

  34. oldbrooklynfan says:

Tough to see Ethier hit into hard luck two AB’s in a row.

  35. enchantedbeaver says:

Hope Ned’s working on something. I’d hate to think that Triunfel and Romak are the best we can do for the bench.

  36. enchantedbeaver says:

Nice to see Haren put up a zero after he gets the lead.

  37. enchantedbeaver says:

Puig needs a game or two off to recharge.

  38. enchantedbeaver says:

Not the best game Haren’s ever pitched, but he did alright after a rocky start.

  39. lbirken says:

A other dreaded wild pitch but if A.J. had shifted his body he might have been able to keep the ball in front of him.

  40. enchantedbeaver says:

Never know which Wilson you’re going to get.

  41. crash24now says:

Nice game, Dodgers. Key hit by Haren.

  42. trublu4ever says:

    Good win guys.

  43. oldbrooklynfan says:

For those of you who want a 123 ninth inning from Jansen, you got it, after Prado’s HR of course.

  44. Wishing all you papas here at OTD a very happy Father’s Day.

  45. trublu4ever says:

Poor Josh …. Seeing todays’ lineup, he has to be saying: “WTF!”

  46. oldbrooklynfan says:

Let’s hope the Dodgers can keep things going in the same direction, today.

  47. When are the pitchers going to stop pitching to Goldie?

  48. oldbrooklynfan says:

I wish they could walk Goldschmidt every time he comes up.

  49. oldbrooklynfan says:

Nice hitting to the right side by Romak.

  50. enchantedbeaver says:

Dre crap in Donnie’s Wheaties again?

  51. trublu4ever says:

Arroyo tops out at 83 and we have one damn run! Now, he’s out of the game.

  52. enchantedbeaver says:

Yet another snooze fest. This team couldn’t get a real winning streak going if their lives depended on it.

  53. oldbrooklynfan says:

It would be the D-backs have the lead on a wild pitch

  54. oldbrooklynfan says:

What a time for a defensive breakdown.

  55. trublu4ever says:

You put a little league team out there and this is what we get….shame on you Donnie!

  56. trublu4ever says:

    Drew….wtf!

  57. oldbrooklynfan says:

Nice hit by Turner but will they find another way to screw up. What happen to Butera?

  58. messagebear says:

The way Turner has been hitting lately only a Donnie managed team wouldn’t be playing him regularly – after all Donnie’s got Figgins and Romak.

    • trublu4ever says:

I was thinking that way too. However, I think Vinny said Turner had a little leg tightness. I don’t understand why Dre didn’t bat against the righty! Like E said, he must have pooped in Donnie’s cereal.

  59. messagebear says:

What a find Perez has been!
LIke Ned always said, “you just can’t have enough closers”.
Very true if none of them are any good.

  60. trublu4ever says:

Perez, really like to make us hate you even more, Donnie!

    • JhallWally says:

Unacceptable… Perez needs to be DFA’ed… Our bullpen is terrible…. Fix it Nedcompoop, if you can… I’m not very optimistic about the fix if Nedcompoop is pulling the strings….

Our offense was also unacceptable…. Along with the defense… Geez….

Winning games takes good starting pitching, a good defense, production from the offense, and a solid bullpen… We failed on 3 out of 4 last night… Total bullshit….

      • JhallWally says:

We don’t have a team, we have a bunch of prima donna assholes….. And an imcompetent, spineless manager…… Supported by a more imcompetent GM…. And, as Bear has pointed out, it looks like, an incompetent ownership group… We are hosed…..

  61. oldbrooklynfan says:

Well all we can say is Go Rockies!!!!
At least for today, but not tomorrow night.

  62. oldbrooklynfan says:

I have both sides of my mind running together. One side says duck, here come the red -hot Rockies and the other side says, don’t worry the Dodgers will always do better against the teams that are winning. I’ll find out tonight which side is right.

  63. oldbrooklynfan says:

Hall of Famer Tony Quinn has passed away at the young age of 54. This comes as a sad surprise as I never read anywhere that he was ill. May he Rest in peace.
My condolences to his family, friends and love ones.

  64. crash24now says:

    Rest in Peace, Tony Gwynn.

  65. enchantedbeaver says:

Giants are finally losing, but this team can’t even make hay against the weak sisters of the league and are still hovering around .500. I hate to see what these guys will do against good teams that play sound fundamental baseball.

  66. crash24now says:

The three game series at home against the Rockies will test whether we are chasing the Gnats or just competing for second place. A series win would cause me to say we are chasing the Gnats and have a decent chance to catch them. A series defeat would only tighten the race for second place.

    • trublu4ever says:

I honestly believe that if we lose a few more games like we did yesterday, Mattingly will be fired. That was one of his dumbest (and, he has had many) game plans ever!

  67. Dodger4life says:

It’s hard to believe that after playing 71 games…This team has won only 15 of said games at home.

    • Dodger4life says:

It’s also hard to believe that this team hasn’t been swept in a series.

They have narrowly avoided being swept several times at home.

      April
      Giants won 2 of 3
      Tigers won 1 of 2
      Phillies won 3 of 4
      Rockies won 2 of 3

      May
      Giants won 3 of 4
Pirates won 3 of 4… the 4th coming on the 1st day of June

      June
White Sox won 2 of 3

    • Dodger4life says:

Correction – This FUCKIN’ TEAM has won only 15 games at home…

  68. messagebear says:

I’m glad to see that Puig is leading the outfielders in the All Star Game balloting. I’m equally glad to see that no other Dodger will likely be voted into the game. I expect that Kersh, Greinke, and possibly even Ryu would be selected for the honor; obviously nobody from the bullpen should even be considered.

  69. lbirken says:

I had a great Father’s Day at Dodger Stadium with my family in spite of the loss. I still could not help wondering what is going on with this team, a veteran team that should not be making all these mistakes. Kemp not charging a ball, opposing runners stealing third with no play, poor catching skills, too many outs on the base paths and the usual physical errors. Of course, easy enough for me to say all of this because I am not down on the field but even though I am sure they do, it does seem at times as if they do not care. And I am surprised at a quote I read in the paper attributed to Agon:” We don’t expect to win every game.” You don’t? Of course we all realize even the best teams will lose a third of its games but is it to much to ask that you expect to win every game you play, at least while the game is still within reach? I hope Tommy did not hear this.
