With Beckett on the mound, tonight’s game could be longer than last night’s game.

  2. Dodger4life says:

    i just seen today’s lineup… Now playing 3rd base… Chone Figgins

  3. Dodger4life says:

Ryu to the DL, shoulder issue.

  4. kahliforni says:

Dear MLB. Please shit-can the whole Australia debacle. For more information, please see Dodgers and D-Backs pitching injuries. Thank you.

  5. Hi Everybody, I’m ready for another game.

  6. Saltalamacchia draws first blood for the Marlins.

  7. Dodger4life says:

Ryu claims he has had this happen to him before in 2011, and it took about 10 days to rebound from it. So there is some hope.
I missed the first two innings, did see the dinger though.
    Let’s Go Dodgers!!

  8. You can’t blame Puig, they’ve been preaching to him to hit the cut off man.

  9. Dodger4life says:

    Rally Time!!

  10. crash24now says:

Looking forward to an Olivo/Crawford/Figgins rally….

  11. At the moment this game ls very one sided.

  12. I’m surprised they’re hitting for Koeler.

  13. They’re really beating on us. needless to say

  14. crash24now says:

Still alive (barely). We need baserunners, Scotty. Cap’n, I’m giving all I got!

  15. All Marlins tonight.

  16. crash24now says:

Giants and Rockies won – we’re in third place 😦

Looks like Fife will be our starter on Sunday. Nothing against Fife, but he’s gonna have a hard time matching up against Jose Fernandez.

  17. 32and53fan says:

So the Dodgers can score against crappy pitching, but not against the average and above hurlers? If they expect to win the World Series, they have a lot of holes to fill in their game.

    • oldbrooklynfan says:

I love the optimism, whenever someone refers to the winning of the World Series, even if it’s within a negative comment.

  18. Hi There
I hope, at least, the Dodgers had a good night’s sleep last night.

  19. crash24now says:

Nice hitting by Uribe! Waited until he got the pitch he wanted.

  20. crash24now says:

Whoops. With Maholm on the mound, we need to crank up our offense and score a bunch of runs.

  21. Boy, that lead didn’t last long.

  22. crash24now says:

    Home Run Baker….

  23. crash24now says:

    Hanley brings Dee in!

  24. This is the way this team should play.

  25. messagebear says:

Just because Crawford was a necessary throw-in in order to get Gonzalez doesn’t mean that we have to play him. Ned and Donnie are complete assholes in that respect. Either VanSlyke or Pederson would be miles better than having Crawford around. I hate Crawford. DFA him or put him on permanent DL. Miserable worthless fucker (just like Ned and Mattingly) – just get rid of him.
Bear with me; I’ve had a couple of stiff ones early in the day, so I’m really apt to mouth off here.

  26. One for you one for me.

  27. Dee made a nice play.

  28. crash24now says:

Puig muirdered that ball. Then, the bat flip, then the stare.

  29. Maholm must keep the Marlins from scoring this inning.

  30. Good that’s shutting them down.

  31. enchantedbeaver says:

Has that ball Puig hit come down yet? Good gawd that was a shot.

  32. Maholm puts up another zero.

  33. Olivo is hitting .500.

  34. Dee’s having a great series so far.

  35. Just one (HR) run ..not bad..

  36. A very good outing for Maholm.

  37. trublu4ever says:

  38. Dodger4life says:

  39. Ozuna really worked Wilson before he hit that HR. The Beard couldn’t throw anything passed him.
    It’s a tough game now.

  40. enchantedbeaver says:

Can we just cut Wilson now? He’s a worse joke than League.

    • Dodger4life says:

Wilson has a player option for next year.

      • Dodger4life says:

        1 year/$10M (2014), plus 2015 player option
re-signed by LA Dodgers as a free agent 12/5/13
        14:$10M, 15:$8.5M player option
player option may increase to $10M based on appearances in 2014
additional $0.7M in annual performance bonuses based on games finished

  41. Gotta get some runs back.

  42. trublu4ever says:

  43. YES I was afraid of Stanton coming to the plate. We’re past him but it’s not over yet.
Noticed the Rockies moving past the Mets.

  44. Get those fingers ready for crossing and biting.

  45. trublu4ever says:

    Awful…..just awful!

  46. Dodger4life says:

4 pitchers after a fine game from Maholm, (who exits with a 4 run lead)… the relief corps walks in the tying run!

  47. We’re still alive and it’s 7UP.

  48. Hold them down guys.

  49. Dodger4life says:

    Way to go League!

  50. It’s hard to believe we haven’t lost yet.

  51. Crawford is way over due.

  52. I knew it, I knew it.

  53. trublu4ever says:

    Oh, my! CC!

  54. grizzy says:

Keep it going, Dee. Two runs isn’t enough with our pen lately.

  55. Dodger4life says:

    Way to go, Crawford!

  56. I can’t believe we’re ahead again.

  57. enchantedbeaver says:

Say hello to you’re new closer – Brandon League.

  59. Dodger4life says:

Innings 1-6 the team played well. Innings 7-9 everyone was flat. League and Crawford come through in extra innings, nice job guys.

  60. trublu4ever says:

I really didn’t think we’d pull this one out. Glad I was wrong.

  61. What a game.
    Thanks to CC and League.
I guess it was their time.

  62. grizzy says:

It’ll be pretty ironic if we come full circle back to League as closer. I think all of us thought we’d be better off without him.

  63. Dodger4life says:

A little past 30 games played and the team has 4 position players hitting over the .300 clip. With two bench players in Olivo .417 and Van Slyke at .297.
We all assumed that Gordon would never do much in the lead-off spot. He has shown everyone he has the ability to be a solid asset. League has his moments… good and bad. But, seems to have the ability to perform as well.
I was a little concerned yesterday after Wilson gave up the three runs. The team seemed to lose it’s momentum and was dragging a bit. It was a nice surprise to see two guys that have been struggling with their game come through.

  64. Dodger4life says:

The thing that bugs me the most with this team, is they seem to play as if they can flip a switch when needed. We all seen how well that worked out in the playoffs last season. I wouldn’t mind struggles so much, if the intensity and focus, as to the little things were there. I would rather hear them say they messed up and feel some determination to do well going forward. Than, yadda, yadda, this and yadda, yadda that. A season and it’s players will always have struggles. But at least look alive when doing so.

  65. oldbrooklynfan says:

Here we go to game 3 of this series which like the last one with the Twins is really a constant fight. Today looks like a mismatch with Fernandez against Fife but the way these games have been going it’s impossible to guess what the outcome will be.
    GO DODGERS!!!!!!!

  66. trublu4ever says:

That didn’t take long! In the hole again!

  67. Well it’ll be an uphill climb today.

  68. Too bad Dee didn’t steal second.

  69. trublu4ever says:

    Way to go Hanley.

  70. Nice RBI single by Hanley.
WOOOH Pass ball the games tied.

  71. Yellich blasted that one.
    I hope that ain’t. it.

  72. Nice clutch hit by CC. to tie it up again.

  73. Marlins back up again on another HR (Stanton again).

  74. We ain’t dead yet.
    GO DODGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  75. ANDRE!!!!! ties it.

  76. Mmmm, the only thing that can be said about this series is that the fish fried us!

  77. JhallWally says:

Rats!!! Another tough loss…. Maholm wasn’t great, but, he didn’t suck… I guess these things will happen when you have a worn out bullpen. They’re already wearing down and it’s only May 3rd. Geez!!!! Doesn’t bode well going forward if something doesn’t change…

  78. kahliforni says:

Fear not! Remember, Ned says the first two months are to find out what you need…the second two months are to acquire what you need…and the last two months are meant to go win it all. Funny, there are actually some GMs who spend the winter figuring out what they need and then going out and getting it. But heck, that takes the fun out of meandering the first four months. But who am I to question Ned, his “theories,” or his roster?

  79. lbirken says:

The team that looked so good on paper better get some new paper.

    • JhallWally says:

Well said Birk… Gotta play the games….
And we aren’t cutting it right now….

      • enchantedbeaver says:

Yup. Gotta remember that without the series against the Snakes, this team is sub .500 just like last year. Injuries have been rough on the pitching, but this team’s offense has been intact from the start (save Ellis, but BFD) and has sputtered and sucked with the same old story of leaving runner after runner in scoring position. That’s what happens when you don’t play your best 8 everyday and move players up and down the batting order. This year we don’t have a Puig riding in to the rescue and energizing this team. Donnie sure as hell doesn’t have the persona nor brains to instill any.

Don’t need to be a seer either to figure out what Ned’s tri-season theory requires year in and year out, and it doesn’t take months to come to that conclusion – this team needs a new manager and GM.

  80. oldbrooklynfan says:

Yesterday’s loss was tough but the Dodgers did a good job getting past Jose Fernandez. It was anybody’s game after that. Unfortunately it didn’t go our way.
Tonight it’s a new game and we have Greinke going for us.
Just have to hope that the Giants don’t make it an every other year to the promise land.

  81. lbirken says:

While the offense has had its issues driving in runs, and while I might agree it would be better to have the “8 best players” in the lineup everyday, the more serious problem is the relief pitching. The starters are not going deep enough into games but no one could have predicted how ineffective Brian Wilson or Kenley Jansen would be compared to what they had done in the past. No one else has stepped up with any consistency although League has shown some improvement. Dodger relievers give up leads, throw a lot of pitches, walk too many hitters and generally have made life miserable for Donnie. It is only May and all we hear is how overused the bullpen is so early in the season. Something has to change or the Dodgers will be fighting an uphill battle to claim the division.

    • enchantedbeaver says:

Donnie brings a lot of that on himself birk. While there have been more than enough bad relief outings, there have been plenty of times when a guy is throwing well and Donnie yanks him anyway because its Wilson’s or Jansen’s inning (or whomever’s now.) How many times have we seen him blow through a bullpen in the last three innings of a game over the last 3+ years. Donnie has no clue how to manage a pen, so dead arms and a worn out BP are always going to be an issue.
