Big Apple vs Big Orange

The Dodgers start their weekend series with the Mets with Clayton Kershaw on the mound.  This is the first time that Kershaw has pitched after losing three straight. While not close to his record season last year, Kershaw has pitched much better than his record indicates.

With the International Signing Season now open, the Dodgers wasted no time stocking their farm system with a lot of  talent some countries in and around the Caribbean Sea.  In addition, since the Dodgers and blew through their international signing bonus, they have sold their international bonus slots to other teams in return for prospects.

    Go Dodgers!

  2. oldbrooklynfan says:

I just hate to lose to one of my home town teams.
    Let’s go Dodgers!!!

  3. vl4eccjr says:

With the Vagiants loss earlier, it would be nice to increase the division lead.

    A Stolen Base

  5. Dodger4life says:

    Vinny is the best!!!

He’s pleasant instead of overwhelming…I’m so glad he’s back tonight!!

    Let’s Go Dodgers, Let’s Go!!

    RALLY TIME!!

  6. lbirken says:

Another Kershaw start and another struggle for the Dodger offense.

  7. lbirken says:

Now can the Dodgers win a game started by Kershaw.

  8. vl4eccjr says:

This is at least 3 appearances in a row where Kenley has given up at least one run. . . .

  9. vl4eccjr says:

    PATHETIC!!!

  10. oldbrooklynfan says:

Still lead the Giants by 3 games.

  11. lbirken says:

And the answer is no. Another loss in a game started by Kershaw. He has to throw shutouts even for a chance to win.

  12. koufax1963 says:

wow what a disappointment , jansen gets tapped. and I thought the Dodgers played well for National ESPN??

  13. griz says:

    All to familiar:
    No small ball
    No run support for Kershaw
Live and die with the home run

  14. oldbrooklynfan says:

Tonight could be another pitching duel between Greinke and Harvey.

  15. lbirken says:

Great letter in the L.A. Times today from a disgruntled fan complaining about a manager waiting for the long ball, not bunting, stealing or manufacturing runs. The subject: Mike Scoscia.

  16. griz says:

Another chance to gain a game on the giants.

  17. koufax1963 says:

yes let do this, give grienke a streak of wins

  18. zonadodger says:

Nice game for grienke…..Come on bullpen

  19. zonadodger says:

    Come on Baez

  20. vl4eccjr says:

Grandal is getting beat up behind the plate tonight.

  21. zonadodger says:

    nice job howell

  22. vl4eccjr says:

    WHEW!!

  23. trublu4ever says:

    WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. griz says:

Another great performance by Greinke that was almost given back by the pen. The offense scored enough this time but that was a little too tense at the end. We should make it to the break in first place, but as the team continues to under perform, it’ll be interesting to see what changes take place. Friedman is looking for a starter, we know, but I think we could use a reliable reliever or two. Probably too much to expect.

With Frias questionable, I don’t think Donnie will consider another bull pen game after that fiasco in Colorado.

The Dodgers have hit 104 home-runs to date… I know it’s been mentioned that a good number of these are solo shots… Anyone know how many have been for walk-off wins???

  26. oldbrooklynfan says:

Spend the holiday away from home. Unfortunately there wasn’t a working TV, but I was updated on the progress of the game. Didn’t make it home by the time the game ended.
I’ll be out for a few hours today but I’ll probably make it back in time to watch some of the game.
It sucks that we’re playing the Mets during the holiday weekend. But I’ll be at Citi Fileld when the Dodgers are in town, later this month.

  27. Dodger4life says:

Rubber game today…It also completes the first series, in a number of series (14), outside our division. We won’t see a division foe again until August 31st, when the hated ones return to the Ravine.

  28. Dodger4life says:

2 lousy hits after 6 innings… ain’t gonna cut it!!!!

  29. griz says:

Pretty disgusting how often this happens.

  30. Dodger4life says:

    Blows Raspberry!!

  31. oldbrooklynfan says:

Ended up watching most of the game at a neighborhood restaurant. Matz was too much for the Dodgers to handle, at least for today. I hope we have better luck with the Mets, when the the Dodgers come into my neck of the woods, July 23-26.
At least my daughter Claudine, an ardent Met fan, enjoyed the game.

  32. trublu4ever says:

What a piss poor effort today!

  33. lbirken says:

Once again the Dodger offense was absent against a decent pitcher. Thankfully the Giants can’t win a game so the lead stays at 4.

  34. griz says:

Funny, we’re talking about a team with a four game lead. As crappy as the giants have been, and they won’t stay that way, the lead should be another two or three games had the Dodgers been playing up to their salaries.

    • trublu4ever says:

Yep….we should have at least a 7 or 8 game lead.

      • oldbrooklynfan says:

Yeah but 4 games is 4 games, not too bad at the moment. Just have to hold unto it. I’m hoping the Mets can use their pitching to keep the Giants at bay.

  35. colliethec says:

I wonder how we’ll fare against a pitcher who has a 1-6 record with a 5.76 ERA. I’m guessing we get 3 runs.

  36. griz says:

I’d like to think so, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Watched Larson’s perfect game against the Dodgers in the ’56 series. I saw the game on tv, but don’t really remember that much about it. First bet I ever lost was on that series. Vinny called that game too.
