For some reason, playing the Padres scares me…..and, with Haren on the bump, I’m petrified!

  2. trublu4ever says:

    However……GO DODGERS!

  3. 32and53fan says:

The Padres have always been difficult for the Dodgers, even when they stunk against other teams.

  4. 32and53fan says:

    Tonight’s lineup:
    Gordon 2B
    Ramirez SS
    Gonzalez 1B
    Kemp RF
    Crawford LF
    Ethier CF
    Turner 3B
    Ellis C
    Haren P

  5. All teams are tough for me. Well Ethier in the lineup tonight.

  6. Bad start 1-0 Padres.

  7. trublu4ever says:

    Errors are a NO-NO! Damn!!!!

  8. Hanley gets the game tied.

  9. enchantedbeaver says:

So how are the two stalwarts of OTD doing? Mind if I join you for a couple innings?

  10. enchantedbeaver says:

Gotten so Andre can’t hit right handers either.

  11. Three straight hits puts the Pods back up.

  12. enchantedbeaver says:

Is it me Tru, or does this team play better without Hanley?

    • trublu4ever says:

      I think they do.

      • enchantedbeaver says:

Seems with Arry in there they settle down more in the infield and try and manufacture more runs. Hamhands in there they stand around waiting for him to hit. Only thing is, Arry strikes out about half the time.

  13. Turner’s really hot.

  14. enchantedbeaver says:

Still can’t bring in runners from third and less than 2 outs. That’s not the mark of a championship caliber club. They’re going to have to hope Kersh can win all of his games in the playoffs and that Greinke and Ryu really step it up because this offense sucks.

  15. trublu4ever says:

    Boy…we stink!

  16. enchantedbeaver says:

Is Donnie the only one in the stadium that didn’t know Puig would strikeout?

  17. HANLEY clouts his 13 HR and the game is tied..

  18. enchantedbeaver says:

Guess I’ll have to start dissing Hanley more often.

  19. enchantedbeaver says:

How is it Mattingly can consistently go through 4-5 pitchers the last three innings of a ballgame?

  20. enchantedbeaver says:

Time for me to hit it. Bring ’em home Brooklyn.

  21. Giants won lead down to 4.

  22. And the lead drops to 3 1/2

  23. lbirken says:

That was one pathetic game. So you think Donnie used too many pitchers? If the offense scored some runs and did not continue to leave runners on base perhaps he would not need the pen so much. The Padres used a bunch of pitchers as well.

  24. If you ask me, I’d say that this thing is going down to the wire, the Giants are too strong to ignore.

  25. griz says:

Rather sucks that they go so deep into the game and bullpen and come up with a loss. Greinke needs to go seven or eight innings and come out the winner. I’ve got a funny feeling about this particular game. For some reason I feel it’s important to win this one.

  26. koufax1963 says:

This seems like last weekend, except we won the friday night game, gnats playing a very good team and just smack them, and taking a cue from last weekend I hope the gnats lose the remaining two. Nice to have Ryu coming back, Nice to have Han ram back, but today or more perhaps not, maybe puig will get going with a little bench time put in, and uribe on the horizon, although I gives kudos to Turner at 3rd. Yes quite important the dodgers win today, with the Nationals on the horizon, this first week of september seems huge.

  27. Well here we go again.

  28. trublu4ever says:

    Puig….0 for 20…..no bueno!

  29. The Padres are off and running again 1-0.

  30. Turner pulls a Jeter on that foul ball.

  31. trublu4ever says:

Matt & Yasiel are stinking up the joint!

  32. A-GON’S 19th ties it.

  33. Puig is now batting below .300.

  34. Great pick off by Butera of Maybin. Nice job by Hanley.

  35. Talk about fighting for your life.

  36. 32and53fan says:

Another difficult game goes into overtime.
Where are the bats when you need them?

  37. The Dodgers are showing great defense but no offense.

  38. lbirken says:

The difficulty the Dodgers have scoring runs is just so baffling.

  39. And the lead is now 3.

  40. trublu4ever says:

    Wright was wrong once again!

  41. enchantedbeaver says:

Great team. Really starting to put on a charge to the finish line.

  42. messagebear says:

Just the kind of finish the Guggenheims deserve.
    And Magic too.

    • lbirken says:

I am a ticket buying fan. I deserve better. You are a long time fan. You deserve better. This is not about ownership.

  43. lbirken says:

Can’t blame Wright. Blame the hitters for being able to score only one run. The opposing pitching is good but championship caliber teams find ways to win.

  44. lbirken says:

Oh well, masochists that we are we will all be back tomorrow to see what happens next.

  45. It’s like the Dodgers are riding an elevator. They came up and now they’re going down.
This time of year you have teams that get very hot and other teams get cold. The Dodgers right now are one of the latter but there’s still a month to go.

  46. kahliforni says:

The Dodgers have been abysmal with 1) runners in scoring position and 2) when trailing late in games. They’re soft as a baby’s bottom. Jimmy Johnson says the Dallas Cowboys don’t win anymore because no one is afraid of losing his job…front office and players. The Guggenheims have created such a beast, in my opinion.

  47. lbirken says:

Still not giving in to blaming ownership for the fact that Dodger hitters cannot drive in runs, at least at the right time. This is squarely on the players. The Dodgers have had problems in this area going back to McCourt, Fox and even O’Malley. It also does not seem to matter who the hitting coach is. Does anyone really believe these players are just going through the motions to collect a paycheck? If anything they might be trying too hard and are too anxious. That is where the coaching staff has to earn its paycheck.

  48. crash24now says:

    Puig CF
    Ramirez SS
    Gonzalez 1B
    Kemp RF
    Van Slyke LF
    Uribe 3B
    Ellis C
    Barney 2B
    Ryu P

An ice-cold Puig as leadoff hitter? Gotta be one of Donnie’s all-time dumbest moves. Even if he gets on, he can’t steal a base.

  49. crash24now says:

SVS brings in Puig, but Matt Kemp ends the inning by trying to take 3rd base on the throw. Never a good thing to make the third out at third base.

  50. lbirken says:

If I were an oppoing team facing the Dodgers with two runners on base I might intentionally walk the next hitter to load the bases no matter the situation.

  51. crash24now says:

Second and third with no outs. We’d better get some runs out of this.

  52. crash24now says:

No pressure. Gnats are beating Brewers 7-2 in the seventh.

  53. crash24now says:

Uribe comes through with an RBI single!

  54. griz says:

My first thought is to pinch hit for Ellis, so he doesn’t hit into one of his double plays. Returng to the game to see what happens

  55. crash24now says:

    Wild pitch works for me!

  56. crash24now says:

Darwin Barney knows how to hit with the bases loaded!

  57. crash24now says:

Ethier hits, but Ellis cannot run.

  58. lbirken says:

    Finally, some runs.

  59. 32and53fan says:

Finally… A cushion for the bullpen. With the Giants winning, they better not blow the lead.

  60. griz says:

Donnie has more faith in Ellis’ bat than I do. A walks as good as a hit, I guess.

  61. It’s good to win, anytime, and necessary, but I can’t get my eyes off the Giants. I’m hoping they’ll cool off as soon as possible, especially with the Dodgers going up against the Nats to start off September.

  62. kahliforni says:

Dodgers host Nats while Gnats go to Denver…all signs point to the lead shrinking even more…

  63. crash24now says:

Our offense needs a boost. Enter the 30/30 man, Joc Pederson.

    • kahliforni says:

crash, if you get the TV feed, tell me what Pederson looks like. Thin…stocky…fast…slow…graceful…plodding? I’ll never know because by the time the Dodgers hit post-season TV coverage (if they don’t blow it) he’ll be gone. Thanks again, Time/Warner and all the Guggenheims, for a fantastic viewing experience this season.

  64. enchantedbeaver says:

Have to admire what the Angels did this weekend. Unlike our boys who can’t even beat a sub-.500 team 2 of 3.

  65. Dodger4life says:

I’m working on a new thread today, unless there’s any objections…

  66. JhallWally says:

Woo-Hoo, win streak….. Well, at least the start of one… We really needed this one… Great job by Ryu…. And finally the offense came thru…… We could have taken all 3 games if the offense would have shown up… Ryu didn’t pitch any better than Greinke and Haren… He was just on the fortunate side when our offense decided to show up….
Tough series coming up with the Nationals….. We need to beat them down and claim home field thru the playoffs… This series is huge…. Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • enchantedbeaver says:

      How you doing my brother?

Good luck with that – this team can’t hit for shit. They might take Kersh’s start, but I can’t foresee this team generating any offense against their pitching staff. Hell, they can’t even hit Stults.

      • JhallWally says:

Hi’Ya Beav…. Yea, I know what you’re saying… I wouldn’t bet the rent money on our Dodgers… However, you never know….. Maybe our guys will get hot at the right time and surprise myself and most likely all of us…. I’m still on the optimistic side.. This series will tell us alot.. Good to talk to you my brother…

        • trublu4ever says:

I just hope they don’t call up too many players from the farm….Donnie can’t handle the ones he has now….I shudder at the thought of what he’d do with an overblown dugout.

    • We also need to get to the playoffs(postseason), Jhall.

  67. koufax1963 says:

Glad Ryu is back, and Uribe is active guess he saw Turner taking 3rd if he didnt produce. Fortunately, we remain in first place, have control over the winning the division, a WC spot is almost worthless, and as tight as it is, with pirates, atlanta and cardinals in hunt a team like the dodgers could easily fall out of the playoffs. The gnats were amazing sweeping the brewers, and that is a tell all point compared to what the brewers did to us. Enough of the obvious. Need to get Gordon and puig going and Kemp just cant run like he use to, that I will have to get use to. I believe it is a National broadcast today of the Nationals, so perhaps we will see Joc.
I know we have a week before we play the gnats and need to win now, but really this is getting to be like the old rivalry days with the gnats.
