Despite winning two out of the three games with the Padres, the offense is still sputtering. A couple of games ago, Kiké Hernandez grabbed his banana and held it out so the whole team could see it. It became known as a Rally Banana. It didn’t work too well, but if we all shake our bananas like pom poms, maybe we can generate some excitement and cause a run spurt.
It’s worth a try. Just beware of Braves fans bearing tomahawks.
I miss the bubble machine for home runs. Maybe if we still had it, we’d be hitting more.
With the spotty run scoring…someone best buy them a bread machine…their bananas are bound to turn spotty as well! Rally Banana Nut Bread sounds more in tune with reality!!
The Braves come into town with a 2 game win streak over the Brewers. They will run up against our strong 3 these days on the mound…Anderson tonight, who has done surprisingly well. Kershaw who has done surprisingly adequate. And Greinke who has surprised no one…except maybe for the fact that his offensive numbers are lower than expected.
All joking aside…maybe the Dodgers should try and rally around a new #2 hitter.
Just for you, Beav…..our starting lineup:
Pederson
Rollins
Kendrick
Gonzalez
Turner
Ethier
Van Slyke
Ellis
Anderson
What an imagination, Donnie has!
The irony is that when Donnie has a line-up that scores runs he won’t use it 2 days in a row, but one that’s done shit for a week he keeps.
Shirley upper management can see what we see.
The Dodgers have managed only 11 stolen bases after 1410 at bats.
Totally unlike any Dodger team I’ve ever watched, including some pretty crappy ones. And of course totally contrary to what an NL team should be – station to station and wait for the HR.
A bit on Frias pitching, He pitches well without runners on base, get him in the stretch and the ball comes out differently, most often higher and the hitters just tee off on him, I saw that in SF.
I think I would give barnes as much playing time as possible with Grandal out.
What a great start.
One step forward. Three steps back. . .
The first inning says much, rollins cant even bunt to move Joc over, cant even hit to bring the lone run in? geez
Between Jimmy & AJ we have 3 pitchers in the lineup.
Rally Unicorn!!!
This team’s hitting with RISP is pathetic!!
Geez VL. We had 5″ of rain again in about 3 hours. Had to go hide in the closet for awhile for the tornado warning. Then when the rain finally tapered back a little, they come on saying a nearby dam broke and people in my neighborhood may get flooded. Thank goodness I think it just crested the dam. For awhile there I thought I was going to have to build an ark.
Stay safe out there Beav & make sure you have your floaties on!
Never seen so much rain Collie. I’d swear I was in Borneo or something.
Dang Beav!! Hiding in the closet, or changing into that wingsuit in the closet. You came to mind when I seen there was a tornado South of Austin yesterday…Prayers that y’all stay safe coming your way…
Scott!?? the next victim of the bases loaded curse
WTF….we should have had 5 or 6 runs by now!
Save the Rally Unicorn!!!
Well I see we’re scoring up a storm again.
Our lineup looks pretty balanced laying flat on their backs waiting for the paddles of life!!
Typical Donnie. Guerrero hits a HR yesterday so naturally he’s on the bench. Rollins couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat, but Donnie leaves him batting second no matter what. I wouldn’t care so much if he at least made productive outs, but he doesn’t.
So basically, same line-up, same results.
I had to shake my head when you said if they produce Donnie sits them earlier… Donnie’s a Ding Dong!!
You are too polite in your assessment D4.
Dildonnie’s cranial rectal inversion is a recurring illness. . .
Would you believe there’s a Ding Dong Texas?
Save the Rally Unicorn!!
Once again Rollins shows he’s as useless as testicles on the Pope with the bat. . 😦
Pathetic asshole can’t even bunt.
Why the hell not bring up Seager? He sure as hell couldn’t be any worse.
What pisses me off even more is that he can’t even man-up and tell Donnie to bat him 8th.
Donnie should have the cajones to do it himself! Every game gets me more pissed off at the way he ruins our team!
Out of those 11 stolen bases. Rollins has 5 of them. He’s Donnie’s running game…even with an OBP of .277.
Well, F**k! twice out at third!
Minimum out of the maximum as usual.
WTG Dre!!!
Everday Day Dre!!!
SWEET #16
Dre saves the day! Bring in Jensen, big time save!
Dammit. I might have to get on the Andre train.
I’m sure Conductor Jane will let you on…
All Aboard!
Everyday ‘Dre!!
That pitcher ought to be ashamed of walking a .116 hitter.
I’m 100% certain Ellis isn’t on the 2016 team, but if he stays under .150 all year, does he play anywhere next season?
Bench coach.
Not a bad idea.
Gracias for the insurance Alex!!
Well crap. Guerrero’s on the bench again tomorrow.
Go figure 🙂
Behold the power of the Mighty Blue Unicorn
Guerrero reigns supreme!!!
Jimmie Cracked Unicorn!!
LMFAO!
Now he gets a hit.
Crap…even J-Roll! Beav pissed him off!
I have that effect on people.
There goes that blind squirrel again. . .
Probably heard Seager hit two bombs tonight.
Have I ever mentioned that Hatcher sucks?
He’ll be gone when League comes back…
You know when the race gets tighter, down the stretch…
I’d rather have Hatcher.
Yep! His vacuum pressure has been on the rise for a while.
Hatcher…..BOO!
Can I assume before Rollins hit his bomb that Jansen was already warmed up and ready to come in? And then up by 4 Donnie hurriedly had Hatcher warm up and come in? Why not just have let Jansen come in if he was already warmed? So what it wasn’t a save situation.
It almost came back to bite him in the ass! By the way, did we ever come up with a nickname for Jansen?
Can’t say as we did. What does Jansen say?
Dubbel Hollands, Fu Q???
There may be life in these “Mythical Men in Blue” after all…
Smurfs?
Haha…Van Slyke swung the bat like a bearded Smurf today!!
I’m a little worried about oldbrooklynfan….I sure hope he’s doing alright!!
I’m very worried now! I don’t remember him saying he was taking time off ….. and, it’s been way over a week (I believe) since we’ve heard from him.
Woo-Hoo, Win Streak!!!
Nice win, however, Hatcher sucks… Why is he still here…
Andre is really performing. Which means when Crawford comes off the DL, he will start and Dildon will sit Ethier… Freaking moron… Rollins is starting to heat up a little. I hope he starts producing because Dildon will keep him in the 2 hole no matter what. Can you say, Freaking Clueless? I knew you could. It is spelled Mattingly….
Anyway, nice win… Go Dodgers!!!!
Interesting that last night Vinny was talking about Carl….saying he hasn’t heard a word about him. It’s as if he doesn’t exist anymore which is fine by me!
Me too Tru… I hope he never comes back… It is the only way Dildon will do the right thing….
I remember when Steve Garvey hit his way into the starting line-up by mashing every time he had a pinch-hitting opportunity. Alston inserted him to stay in June 1973 and the rest is history. Donnie, you have a guy named Guerrero…………and, um………….
……..Callaspo???
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/05/dodgers-braves-discussing-swap-of-uribe-callaspo.html
I don’t understand this at all. I can see getting rid of Juan but, another utility guy?! Unless, it’s part of a process in acquiring a starting pitcher.
Callaspo is owed the remaining left on a 2015 salary of $3MM. He’s Arcade change…
The Dodgers bully and front line are teetering on….Oh Crap!!
Makes one wonder what they would do with Uribe’s spot if this deal went through???
Apparently Callaspo rejected the trade.
It still claims the deal has lost traction…vs being dead? Seems like Atlanta just needs to rid themselves of $3 million. They can trade Callaspo to Carlos Lee’s Ranch for some goat cheese later??
Shows ya’ what I know… deal reported dead for now?
reflections: Donnie had a bunt going twice in yesterday’s game with runner (joc) on second, unfortunately the bunt wasnt well executed, in fact for the purpose of moving runner over or for base hit, it was a terrible bunt. especially coming from someone that has done this often. What scares me is the game turned out to be won the AL way via HRs, only supporting the way donnie knows how to play. I will be interested when runner on first or second with 0 or 1 outs comes again what donnie will do. of course I wont expect him to ask Gonzo, AG or Dre to bunt.
and the shift on freddie freeman, Hmmmm
What I thought was “interesting” (a Donnie euphemism for “WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?????) was that the first bunt attempt was in the 1st inning. Really? More evidence to toss on the He Really Just Doesn’t Know pile. What I’m starting to suspect is that the guys at the other end of the dugout are coming up with more and more ludicrous ideas, placing their bets and approaching Mats with them. That would explain all the laughing going on over there during the game.
The logic is outlined here: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/05/dodgers-braves-discussing-swap-of-uribe-callaspo.html
I am a bit surprised most of you feel Donnie plays for the home run instead of trying to “manufacture” runs. Did anyone really expect this team to all of a sudden start hitting home runs, especially at Dodger Stadium, as they have so far? One problem is most of the hitters on this team are free swingers, most of which could not lay down a good bunt when asked. And where is the team speed? And when they have tried to run how often have they been successful?
Our talented rookie Joc Pederson either hits a home run, walks, or strikes out. Should he bunt more often? Has Guerrero proved yet he can be an everyday player defensively?
And Donnie was asked about his decision to put in Jansen yesterday. Donnie said he did not want to go to Jansen unless it was a save situation. I did ask myself he same question; If you are planning on using him, why not just put him in and get the game over?
Hey birk!
I really don’t think we’re built to play little ball because the ability to bunt or hit behind the runner is just about lost in this game. As evidence I present the current fascination with the shifts. If a player had more bat control, no shift would work on him. I really don’t know how good a bunter Rollins is, but from yesterday’s evidence, I’d question it. I doubt any other non-pitcher on the team knows how to do it consistently. I doubt they spend any time on it at all in ST, any more than they practice rundowns or smart baserunning. I bury my head in my hands almost every game.
Someone reading this will no doubt be wondering why we’re leading the Division with all this complaining. World Series have been won with a certain percentage of the team having “career years” (read: playing over their heads). And up until recently, that’s exactly what we’ve been doing. Our bullpen rookies have been phenomenal, up until they blew about 4 straight games. And our offense has been spectacular, up until they went 1-for-150 w/RISP for the last 2 weeks.
All of that has overcome the lack of managerial ability of Our Fearless Leader. Winning despite Donnie. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone bunt with the leadoff hitter on 2nd and no one out in the first inning. Ever. Why would you? You supposedly have your best 3 hitters coming up. Except on this team when you have a .185 hitter in the 2 hole. And if sacrificing his at bat is something you want to do, WHY ARE YOU STICKING HIM IN THE 2-HOLE? Geez, what a meatpie.
It’s time to go home now, but on to Jansen first. I’d L-O-V-E to have a manager possess the balls to say the truth here. “I didn’t put him in because it wasn’t a save situation, AND I CAN’T DO THAT DUE TO THE FACT THAT HIS AGENT WILL HOLD IT AGAINST ME AT NEGOTIATION TIME THAT I’M HURTING HIS SAVE STATS AND I CAN LOSE HIM TO ANOTHER TEAM THAT WILL PROMISE NOT TO DO THAT.” Period. He gets enough work as it is. The only times Mats will use him other than saves is when the score is tied in the 9th and we’re at home. And that was the situation yesterday in the bottom of the 8th and the score was tied. Jansen was warming up, ready to pitch the 9th. By the time we had the lead he was standing around, warmed up. The Rollins made it a non-save situation and our Beav hit the head right on the nail up above. A cold Hatcher came in and a warm Hatcher is in enough trouble already.
It’s a sad situation when a Dodger fan looks to San Diego and San Francisco and Anaheim and sees managers way better than ours. Sigh……
Go Blue. Let’s hope Kersh finally has a game when his couple of mistakes get popped up and not hammered over the wall.
Same Ol’ Same Ol’
Pederson CF

Looks like Uribe is gone
Yep…the deal is back on ….. 6 players involved.
Juan Uribe is one class act!!
Looks like Stults or Cahill coming back..Not a big fan of Cahill
I don’t like either one!
Another tease?
http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/story/2015-05-26/dodgers-tv-sportsnet-la-charter-time-warner-contract
I’m on uverse. Figures. But hey, maybe they’ll come around with the new momentum.
Great support for Kersh as usual I see.
At least we got him 1 run. Not much wiggle room, however.
…a little better.
Yay, Dre!
Sarcasm works every time.
Well by all means…keep it up 🙂
Its my specialty. ; )
Wow…even AJ had a hit!
So who did we from Atlanta? I can’t se anything but crap on their roster.
I’m not sure.
7) Cody Martin, RHP, Grade C+: Age 25, 3.52 ERA with 142/56 K/BB in 156 innings in Triple-A. Not a high upside guy but knows how to pitch, throws strikes, eats innings, back-end starter or relief option who is ready for a trial.???
We better be getting draft picks if that and Collapso are all that’s coming back.
The Braves will get a pitching prospect — possibly either Zach Lee or Chris Anderson — if the trade is approved, reports MLB.com’s Mark Bowman (via Twitter). That’s a surprising pair of names to be linked to this trade, as both are highly regarded. Though Lee’s stock is down after some rough performances, he was formerly one of the Dodgers’ top prospects and ranks in their 10-15 range per MLB.com and Baseball America, while Fangraphs pegged him ninth. Anderson, on the other hand, ranks fifth on MLB.com’s list, sixth per Fangraphs and seventh per BA. It also claims 4 coming, 2 going in the trade?
We ought to get something decent for Lee or Anderson. New regime must absolutely hate Lee or you’d think he’d have gotten a chance by now.
Wasn’t Lee’s last start really good in hitter friendly Vegas?
Rosenthal says Stultz and/or Cahill may be involved…..yuck!
Haven’t bee keeping track of OKC lately, but I’ll take your word or it. Seems asinine though to trade a starter for a crappier starter.
I’d rather have Stults than Cahill, but I doubt its Stults or he wouldn’t be pitching tonight would he?
I’m guessing whoever we get will replace Frias???
And maybe a replacement for Yimi’s role???
I think we will know all the details by tomorrow morning…or, those that get Sportsnet L.A. may know tonight.
Hell just freeze over?
YO….ADRIAN!
MLB.com’s Mark Bowman now tweets that neither Lee nor Anderson would be in the trade, if and when it is approved.
I think we’re now getting into the area where the reporters are consulting a Ouija board.
Unlike Donnie who consults a Magic 8 Ball.
How the hell are you Eric?
I the hell am just fine my friend! How are you? Still raining?
Got day off from the rain, but there’s a chance we see some the rest of the week. The river here (Colorado) is at flood stage. Was scary driving over the bridges today and seeing how much water was raging down it. Worst part is they have to release more water from some dams over Austin way to relieve the pressure there, so they expect it to flood the next two towns down from us.
Now that’s not THE Colorado River, right? It empties into the Gulf as I remember.
Actually, its why Cali is so dry. We’ve engineered it to flow east of the Rockies now through subterranean caverns and ancient aqueducts and through toll booths because we acquired a shitload of dimes in March.
It was known as (yup) the March of Dimes.
(Groan)
Now THAT was the Kersh of old.
Early on Kersh threw first pitch fastballs up around the shoulders not the numbers…His curveball was the one that is almost unhittable. He had the change and the slider going as well…but getting them to swing and miss on fastballs, with the big curve was the stuff of Cy Young Kershaw indeed.
So was him getting out of trouble without runs scoring.
Was thinking about our prodigy, Puig. His two mentors, the ones who put a smile on his face? Hanley and Uribe. Who is his voice of reason now?
Gotta be AGon, right?
Maybe it’ll be Alberto Callaspo??!?!?!??!
Can we give him number VO5?
Give him #8………
Maybe the $3 million they save will go to ATT uverse so I can watch the games….
I thought you’d of sold the house and relocated by now, kahli…
Oh yeah…I forgot! Go Kings!!
Actually I’ve been accidentally on purpose streaming them on-line from some exotic source I couldn’t begin to know…
Hopefully the Charter thing will help you out??
YES…go Kings!!!…but not until the Fall…. 😦
I was hoping you and everyone else caught that source 🙂 A couple years back I streamed them through Hong Kong. That was a trip! Or, I would hitch a ride on some Floridians tube…until he decided to go to sleep in the 6th inning.
I think Gonzales took that role (at least on the field) a while back?
Howell was in the zone too…
Santos has lasted longer on the team than I thought he would.
That’s not to imply he’s any good.
For a second he looked like he wasn’t gonna throw strikes tonight. I sensed a rejuvenated focus among our relievers tonight.
Way to go Kersh & Gang!
The bats are back, Uribe is gone, kershaw looked like the model I know. Only Conte is the last bastion of Colletti still around. All is well for tonight.
Hector Olivera’s father was Puig’s hitting coach in Cuba. He’s what, 5 years older than Yasiel. Maybe Puig’s mentor is on the way.
Now Rosenboob is claiming that Chris Withrow is going in the deal.
NEXT!!!
Eric, good to hear from you again. My comment above was neither a support of Donnie nor a criticism. I just get a bit tired of reading the same crap about how he is clueless, can’t make out a lineup (we heard the same things about Torre and Grady), has no idea how to use a bull pen. I agree that this team is not made for “small ball” but no one expected the power we have seen either. I doubt Donnie has much say who is on the roster and I cannot help but think upper management had something to do with Uribe losing playing time to Turner and Guerrero. I have no knowledge if this is true but I bring it up just to show I can be objective about the manager.
So on to other things. What happens when and if both Puig and Crawford get healthy? Will the Dodgers still give out Uribe’s bobblehead if he is traded? Will Olivera prove to be worth all the money they paid for a 30 year old player? If Zach Lee is traded, will he come back to haunt the Dodgers and will anyone remember he was moving into a college dorm room when he decided to sign with the Dodgers? And the fact at the time everyone said he was unsignable? What, if anything, does Ned (or Magic) do for the Dodgers?
Kershaw finally smiled tonight. That is a good thing.
Well said birk… I remember hearing Magic talk about busing in 2000 inner-city kids to the game each day/night. Which struck me as odd at the time…since the evening games usually don’t end until such a late hour. Magic as an owner really doesn’t have to do much does he??? His money on the other hand should be rather busy.
Sorry to see Uribe go, but he’ll get more playing time in Atlanta. That’s good, I guess. For him.
Uribe had his days….but overall he was a solid teammate and solid employee…and when he put it all together he was fun to watch.
Uribe and Withrow…..for Stults and two guys who have trouble throwing strikes? Oh yeah and Caloggo??? He was given a stipend to agree to the trade….wait for it. (The Dodgers have made Caloggo the Senior Assistant, to the Senior Advisor to Stan Kasten)
Well, now we know the players in the trade. Uribe and Withrow to the Braves, Callaspo, right-hander Juan Jaime and left-handers Ian Thomas and Eric Stults to the Dodgers. I can’t say I’m thrilled (or even satisfied) with what we got, but in truth we didn’t give that much away either. There is potential here for a lot of regrets if Withrow bounces back from his TJ surgery, but that’s about it.
Having said that, I’ll be surprised if anyone but Stults sees any worthy time with the big club. Jaime and Thomas seem like projects who need time in the minors to see if they can learn to throw strikes. Thomas was in independent ball two years ago and Jaime was DFA’d 2 weeks into the season. Our brain trust is no doubt seeing the dreaded “potential” with both of them. Perhaps we’ll get lucky and be able to replace Hatcher/League/Santos with one or both of them eventually. And Callaspo? Really? Once Olivera gets here, he’ll be given his walking papers. He has no real value to us with Guerrero and Turner on the club. Uribe’s days were numbered for the same reason. The nicest thing I’ve seen written about Callaspo so far is that he doesn’t strike out much. Ooh, how exciting.
I can’t say I’ll be sorry to see him go, but I’ll say 3 good things about Uribe: 1) the obligatory “good in the clubhouse” 2) didn’t get cheated much at the plate 3) did well in the field with whatever balls his limited range could reach. OK, four. He didn’t suck the last couple of years anywhere nearly as much as he did the previous 3. Hasta la vista, baby.
Oh yeah, I’ll also be surprised not to see one or all of these 4 new Dodgers rolled over into other deals soon. It seems to be the way we do business now.
Woo-Hoo, nice win… Kersh looking good…
I am OK with the Uribe deal… His time here was up… I do wish him well…. Except against us…
I’m not certain, but with Stults getting some action last night (which was a bit unusual after a trade has been made), I believe he lines up for a Monday start at Frias Field in Colorado???
I think the sole reason for the deal was to get an innings-eater in Stults. This looks like a temporary fix to patch over the need for a decent starting pitcher. The real starting pitching help will likely come on July 31st after other teams determine whether they are buyers or sellers. Hopefully the Reds will be a seller of Johnny Cueto.
I’m not sure it was the sole reason…you may be right though? Thomas looks to have some potential as a LOOGY?? Which seems to have been the role Paco has played this season. With the trade deadline approaching and the need for a valid front-line arm….maybe the seldom used Paco finds himself being a useful piece in an exchange for a quality front-line arm?? Just spitballing on my end …. Stults has some history with Honeycutt, so, maybe they can scratch out a decent, albeit, short term result there? The other kid has some zip to his fastball…and like pre Tommy John-Withrow once was…is a bit wild. Withrow without zip…yeah, I don’t know? Maybe someone does???
Corey Seager became the first Oklahoma City Dodger in history to get 4 hits in one game…

Sad news:
Casey Blake was a favorite of mine for his professionalism on and off the field. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family today.
http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/baseball/2015/05/26/joe-franklin-blake-simpson-baseball-car-crash/27949777/
After scouring the internet, looking for theories about the Uribe trade, I realize no one knows exactly why the deal ever came to pass…
Wow!! Stults was the one sent packing…
Never mind anything that I said about the trade….
Sergio Santos also DFAd….as you can see by the lineup (No Dre 😦 ) Heisey recalled…boo!
I’m crushed.
Yeah…what crash said
Yeah boy. Predicting this management group is neigh-unto-impossible. But it clears up why Stults was allowed to pitch last night:
Braves: “Hey, would you mind if we pitch Stults in this game? You’re already killing us. We promise we’ll have him throw easy.”
Dodgers: (hand over the phone, to others in the room) “Hey, they want to know if they can pitch Stults tonight!! HAHAHAAHAHA!!
Pederson CF
Rollins SS
Kendrick 2B
Gonzalez 1B
Turner 3B

From another Groundhog Day a few years ago……….
Don: They say we’re old, our careers are spent
I piss ‘em off, but no, I won’t relent.
Jimmy: Well I don’t care if all that’s true
‘Cause you got me, and Skip you hit me two
Jimmy: Babe
Both: You hit me two babe You hit me two babe
Don: They say our love won’t win no games
But I don’t care if we go down in flames.
Jimmy: I guess that’s so, I don’t care either
as long as I get to hit two instead of Ethier
Jimmy: Babe
Both: You hit me two babe You hit me two babe
Jimmy: They give me a cool 11 mil, you keep me two, you’re in my will.
Don: So when they say that you should hit eight
I tell them get lost, that there’s the gate
Don: So let them say your bat’s too flat
‘Cause I don’t care, I’ll get you that extra at-bat
Jimmy: Then let us go to our local distiller
Who really cares if you’re a rally killer
Jimmy: Babe
Both: You hit me two babe You hit me two babe
Jimmy: I got you to bat me two
Don: I give them the stomach flu
Jimmy: I got you to quiet their shouts
Don: I got you to make more outs
Both: I hit you two babe
I needed this!
🙂
Thanks for the song, Eric!
Hello…
Finally working for me.
My last comment was lost and for some reason didn’t show up.
I’m going to miss Jazz Hands… I understand trading him but felt it was a wasted trade as they didn’t get anything in return. I was thinking they could at least get one solid bullpen piece for Juan.
I gotta admit, this trade was a head scratcher.
If Uribe hits a slam, I’m gonna puke.
Whew!
Greinke pitched a game already in the first inning.
This ump is sure calling a wide strike zone on the left side of the plate.
This ump is blind as a bat!
He sure helped Greinke out.
But, it will come back to bite us in the ass!
I generally don’t complain about umps but this guy needs to be DFA’d.
This kid can sling it.
He looks like he learned how to wind-up from Bugs Bunny…well, it’s different anyhow!
We’ll get him second time through the line-up.
I think so too.
That was my one unusually positive statement for the night.
Braves get first damage.
That was a verrrrrry bad pitch!
ZG not looking his usual self tonight. He seems pretty tough though as when he struggles early he usually buckles down in the 4-6 innings.
Gotta get him some run support.
Grandal….please get back to us ASAP!
Love AJ but man his hitting is painful to watch.
I’ll say it.
AJ sucks big time.
He’s ready to coach. Now.
Ya think?!!!! It’s like he’s using a wet newspaper out there.
Can this ump see at all? Balls are strikes and strikes are balls. Somehow though he manages to get the count right even when he misses each pitch.
I think he’s tossing coins to figure it out – heads are strikes and tails are balls….
I’ll take that run!
Nice hit by Turner!
Lucky bounce going the blue way for a change.
We’ll take it!!
Heisey is a keeper ….. NOT!
Why exactly is Heisey here?
Trade bait 🙂
Looks more like fish bait.
…and where the heck is Scott Van Slyke against the lefty?
Scotty pulled something in his back
Dang it. Hope he’s back soon.
Thanks for the answer. I missed that.
AJ wasted a perfectly good single. Geez!
WTF AJ!
Old wheels!!
Same can be said of Ellis.
Two gifts from Uribe to the Dodgers tonight!
He’s a gift that keeps giving!!
Greinke is our best base stealer!
Rally killer!
Why is Rollins here? Why is he in the two-hole?
Because Donnie’s an A-hole!
Yep! 100% Culero.
When he’s at bat I keep saying to myself — in my head “PLEASEEEEEE do something!!!”….
Safe to say all of us have very low expectations from Rollins these days. An exercise in futility due to Dildonnie’s stubbornness to at least put him lower in the batting order.
Groundhog Day!!
Yimi getting the old guys out.
Been kinda boring so far, but not for long because HERE COMES HATCHER!
Uh, oh…….here goes the ball game…..sucky Hatcher is in!
….and, that’s why Donnie is a lousy ass manager!
The weakest link in the pen. . . 😦
Which is exactly why you bring him into a tie game – cough cough…
Hatcher is the new League.
Shouldn’t Hatcher be relegated to mop-up duty and not put in tie games? He sucks.
But that would make sense!!
Can’t even get the bottom of the order out.
Too late Donnie!
Oh Great Dodger in the Sky, why is Chris Hatcher here?
“He’s living his own hell right now…” – Vin Scully.
Made me laugh but at the same time made me think “& ours as well.”
POOF!!!!!
F**K!
Thanks, Liberatore, for throwing the ball away.
I’m thinking some of Hatcher’s bad mojo rubbed off. . .
Just wonder what the result would have been had Liberatore come in first…..I’ll bet a better result.
I don’t care what anybody says, Donnie’s an idiot. Hell, Santos had pitched better than Hatcher. Paco’s totally forgotten. Yet Donnie has to stick Hatcher in every chance he gets. Cost us another game.
Sure did. Why doesn’t Friedman see it?!
It’s starting to look like the game is becoming more and more of a job to these guys these days… The honeymoon of a beginning seems to have worn itself thin.
What’s this? A pulse?
Woo hoo — a little life!
Odds on a game ending DP from Ellis? Anyone?
Should have been.
Why wasn’t Ellis PH for? Waste of an out you couldn’t afford.
Donnie NEVER plays to win.
Way to go Donnie you POS.
Collapse-O.
Oh well….close but no cigar! Dre should have started….we would have won 🙂
Dre should’ve started I agree.
Mediocre team, good manager that get the most out of them and makes good decisions – Giants.
Good team, mediocre manager that makes poor choices and doesn’t play to win – Dodgers.
Its pretty much that simple.
Unacceptable and unbelievable. Dildon just keeps amazing me at how inept he is as a manager… This game is a classic example of how much we need a change of managers. Why in the hell is Hatcher still on this team? And why in the hell would any manager with a clue bring him in, in a close game. Good Grief!!!!
Exactly!
This team will get ROLLED in St. Louis!!
When is the new front office going to get rid of the last vestiges of the McCourt Era? Namely Don Mattingly and Stan Conte. Mattingly is a big time loser. Conte is a piss poor advisor to the GM, in light of Jason Schmidt and Hyun Jin Ryu. Both came to us damaged, Conte knew it, and didn’t stop it.
I believe friedman would have no problem removing donnie, if their isnt a big legal ramification. He revamped a team, that won the NL west, in order to make it more competitive. Usually it would be very unusual, if not groundbreaking, to remove a manager from a first place team. Who would Friedman replace donnie with?
I agree that removing a manager from a first place team would be unusual.
Tim Wallach would be a possible replacement, if they needed to do a switch during the season.
I think they’d go with a younger personality already in the organization???
Kapler coached for the Israeli national baseball team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic qualifier in September 2012.[61] Israel lost to Spain in extra innings in the Pool Finals, missing out on a spot in the World Baseball Classic.
Besides, have you seen Wallach work his magic when Donnie takes a gametime walk to his office…
Getting rid of Donnie now is tougher than it could of been in the off season. I’m not sure why he wasn’t 86’d then and then picked up Maddon. I had hoped that would happen.
That’s why I wouldn’t just get rid of Donnie but call him into my office and point to his errors and ask him why and what is his thinking and if he is going to think any differently.
After that conversation then I’d have a clearer idea as to if I’d keep him around or not.
As far as Conte – I will pop a bottle of champagne when he’s gone as I did when McCourt finally got kicked to the curb.
On to St Louis. I think we’ll find out a little more about this team on the road trip.
Yep, after three in St. Louis, we get three in Denver, then come home for four against St. Louis.
These next ten games will answer the question: are we contenders or are we pretenders?
Meanwhile, the Gnats play the Braves, the Pirates, and the Phillies.
Might be a tough 2 weeks.I’m guessing we’ll be 3 games out by then.
Agreed, Crash.
Corey Seager has gone 4-for-4 today and is now batting .310 in AAA. I’m not saying he’s ready to replace Rollins tomorrow. But if he keeps it up, that gives the team another option later this season.
Five-for-five now. Just hit a double that scored Grandal from first. His line through the 7th: 5 ABs, 2 Runs, 5 Hits (3 singles, 1 2b, 1 HR), 5 RBIs now hitting .317.
It seems that his routine is to slump once he’s been promoted for a couple of weeks, then his ass catches fire.
Bring him up.
Hi Everybody
As you know I haven’t been on for over a week. Just a computer hardware problem. I finally got it fixed. I couldn’t get on this blog with my lap top. So I should be back.
Glad to see ya’ back oldbrooklynfan…
Hi Joe, we missed you. Glad to see that you’re back on.
I’m watching OKC play Salt Lake…thinking Grandal must be feeding them boy’s well…they’ve scored 12 runs, so far. Britton cracked a grand slam and Seager banged a double off of the wall. The only problem is our new pitcher Thomas has given up 10 runs…he’s getting stretched out though.
Make that 11 runs…bases loaded with 1 out and so is Thomas, now.
Coulombe gets ’em outta the inning with a 6-4-3 double play…
1st baseman Andy Wilkins goes deep….13-11 – Top of 8
Coulombe pitched a clean 8th.
13 -11
.
The Salt Lake CF went up over the wall to take a dinger away from catcher Austin Chubb in the 9th. Grandal is 1 for 3 and up now…2-4 bangs it off the base of the wall…Seager is 5-5 and up…ground rule double as the ball bounces over the RF wall…6 for 6 today.
From MLB Rumors:
Though Juan Uribe was choked up about leaving the Dodgers when interviewed by reporters following last night’s contest, president of baseball operations told reporters today that Uribe’s agents at Praver/Shapiro had made it known earlier in the week that their client would welcome a trade (Twitter link via the Orange County Register’s Pedro Moura). Uribe, Friedman continued, had hoped for a situation that would allow him to play every day. He may very well have that opportunity with the Braves, though Atlanta does have Chris Johnson as an option at the hot corner as well.
Also via Moura, Friedman told reporters that he’s tried on multiple occasions to acquire left-hander Ian Thomas from the Braves before landing him in this six-player trade. Friedman feels that Thomas’ floor is that of a quality Major League reliever. However, multiple reporters (including the L.A. News Group’s J.P. Hoornstra) have noted that the Dodgers will stretch Thomas out as a starter for now at the Triple-A level.
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports looks at a number of different reasons that the Dodgers made the trade. While some have already questioned the move, Rosenthal hears that the Dodgers preferred Callaspo’s switch-hitting bat and ability to cover first base. Rosenthal, too, notes that the team is high on Thomas, and he adds that they weren’t sure if they’d be able to keep Chris Withrow on the 40-man roster this winter, as his 2016 production figures to be somewhat of a question mark. Shedding Uribe’s contract also saves the team not only $1MM in salary, but a greater amount in luxury taxes, as Uribe’s $7.5MM average annual value creates a bigger luxury tax hit than Callaspo’s mere $3MM AAV.
Seager went 6 for 6 today as I noted above…I think they said he is 13 for 17 this week….
Holy Moly! Six-for-Six!
But Donnie will be batting Rollins in the two-hole until…..?
The 2nd player in the history of OKC to do so…
Salt Lakes announcer is raving about Seager, saying, If he keeps doing what he is doing he’ll end up in LA…
Thomas is the winning pitcher after giving up 11 runs.
.
Aardsma pitched a clean 9th and gets the save.
Final score in Salt Lake…14-11 – OKC wins.
Seager has adjusted well…much better than Jimmie!!
I’m just checking something out here.
Where have you been?! You had us all very worried!!!
Glad you’re back OBF. We were getting concerned.
It’s just 1,321 miles and/or a three hour plane ride from Salt Lake City to St. Louis. Just sayin’.
I agree the next two weeks could prove extremely important for the Dodgers. I would feel better about the St. Louis series if Kershaw and/or Greinke were available but such is not the case. Hopefully the road problems the Dodgers have had so far become a thing of the past. And, as much as I don’t like all the nitpicking of Mattingly, I too have to ask how much longer will he rely on Hatcher in key situations. Reminds me of how he used League two seasons ago.
I have looked at all the information about the Uribe trade and it looks as if the Dodgers did Uribe a favor. We will have to wait and see if the players received make a significant contribution to the team either this season or in the future but it was clear that Uribe’s time as an everyday player with the Dodgers were behind him. What bothers me about this deal is how we all knew about it before the deal was announced. I realize the media searches out stories but there is no way a reporter knows this stuff unless someone involved “leaks” information. What does the person who leaks information gain for doing so? Does money change hands? Are team employees the source?
As for Donnie, I would be surprised if he were let go during the season unless something really dramatic happened. If the Dodgers fall off the pace or fail to make the playoffs, I would almost expect a change during the offseason.
Good post Birk…
Dodgers will make the playoffs, they’re too good not to, but Donnie is simply part of the baggage. If Friedman turns out to be as smilingly ruthless as he seems to be then I doubt he’d shed a tear over Donnie or Jimmie Rollings.
Write it down. This team will not win a WS Title with Dildon… He just doesn’t have what it takes to get us there…. JMO
Our lead has slipped to 1/2 of a game.
I think it’s time to put a life-jacket on the Unicorn.
