Dry Spell!

image

You know the sad story.  The Dodgers offense has entered the witness protection program.  Nobody knows where it is.

They were schooled by the World Champions about the way to play baseball.  Despite the preaching of Don Mattingly,  Mark McGuire and John Valentin, some of the guys have failed to have professional at bats and have not been able move runners.  On the contrary, Hunter Pence gave himself up by shortening his swing and hitting to the right side to advance a runner from second to third base.

The home stand begins with the Padres and Grienke on the mound.

No disrespect intended 32and53fan, but…screw Hunter Pence and the Giants!!!

    Yeah, I’m still bitter!!

So our beloved bums better get it together….starting tonight!!

    • 32and53fan says:

Just saying that the Dodgers better start focusing and do the little things needed to manufacture runs.

  2. crash24now says:

Seems like even if the offense wakes up for the Padres series, it ain’t gonna take the sting (nor the stink) off being shut out by the Gnats for a full series.

    Pederson CF
    Rollins SS
    Kendrick 2B
    Gonzalez 1B
    Grandal C
    Turner 3B
    Ethier RF
    Van Slyke LF
    Greinke P

  3. crash24now says:

Sometimes managers like to shake up the offense by shaking up the lineup. I wonder what tonight’s lineup would look like if Donnie alpabetized it…

    Ethier
    Gonzalez
    Grandal
    Greinke
    Kendrick
    Pederson
    Rollins
    Turner
    Van Slyke

You’d think, every now and then, Mattingly would actually like to have FUN as a manger…you know, roll the dice, call a suicide squeeze, shake up the batting order. Whatever. I get the feeling he manages looking over his shoulder for the big parental finger wag from God knows who he fears.

    • Dodger4life says:

You mean taking a couple of the boy’s and a film crew to Alcatraz Island wasn’t fun Kahli??? They must of seen some sea-lions and sea-lions are always fun. Ar! Ar! Ar-Ar!!

      I like your lineup…

  5. The Beav says:

    Rollins. What a hitter.

  6. vl4eccjr says:

Hmm. Maybe Joc has been working on going the other way. . .

  7. The Beav says:

    Something happen to Grandal?

  8. vl4eccjr says:

    Holy moly!
    A run!!!

  9. trublu4ever says:

    Thank-you Dre!

  10. trublu4ever says:

I’m hearing Grandal will go on 7 day concussion list and, Austin Barnes was pulled from the AAA game in Vegas….probably joining our team for tomorrow.

  11. vl4eccjr says:

Well that lead was very short lived. . . 😦

  12. The Beav says:

Was just thinking that this was the offense many of us suspected we’d have at the start of ST.

  13. vl4eccjr says:

    Nooooo!
    Not Hatcher! Pleeeease!!!

  14. colliethec says:

Anyone catch any of the above 2 articles? I so want Conte gone…

  15. vl4eccjr says:

    WTG JOC!!!

  16. colliethec says:

    Joc with a bomb!

  17. The Beav says:

Rollins hitting a buck something at the AS break. We see Seager the 2nd half?

  18. vl4eccjr says:

    Thank you Kenley!!!

  19. trublu4ever says:

    Whew!

  20. Dodger4life says:

    Nice Win!!

  21. kahliforni says:

Seeing Kemp with one home run is a shocker. Funny, Ethier has five. Funny game.

  22. koufax1963 says:

well, perhaps with the caliber of Grienke pitching we sneak off a win with 2 runs, but while the dodgers have about as many hits as The Baha Men, it is time to start stealing, hit and run and bunting to gain advantage, right now we can’t hit the top 100, about the batting average of some dodgers that don’t pitch.
This wouldn’t be so bad if it were one or two, but wow everybody just can’t hit.

  23. vl4eccjr says:

    WTG JOC!!

  24. vl4eccjr says:

Wow! A productive AB from AJ. .

  25. The Beav says:

Why can’t any of our pitchers hit at all this year?

  26. The Beav says:

Well that was pathetic as usual.

  27. The Beav says:

    Wow. Tough inning for Kennedy.

These a-holes can’t even hit less than mediocre pitching anymore.

  28. The Beav says:

    Where’s OBF?

  29. The Beav says:

Damn VL. Its raining like a SOB down here again.

  30. The Beav says:

    Ellis is totally useless.

Suddenly our roster doesn’t look [or play] too deep.

  31. trublu4ever says:

I’m beginning to like Mike a lot! Not bad to look at either!

  32. The Beav says:

    Can we start Barnes tomorrow?

  33. vl4eccjr says:

    Outstanding job by Bolsinger!

  34. The Beav says:

I like Joc, but you can’t leave a guy leading off that strikes out as much as he does. And you can’t leave a guy batting second that can’t even hit .200. Donnie’s giving the most ABs to two guys that do the least with them.

Joc’s power is wasted at lead-off. He should be batting 6th where a HR might actually drive in somebody. Rollins should be hitting 8th or 9th where he can’t hurt you much. Ellis ought to be DFA’d.

  35. vl4eccjr says:

    WTG Kenley!!

  36. trublu4ever says:

    Thank-you Boys.

  37. The Beav says:

Wish we’d have saved that 2nd run for tomorrow. ; )

    Terrific game by Bolsinger.

  38. Dodger4life says:

The Boy’s have plated 2 runs each night since being swept by that color blind ball-club, from that place up North!! ‘Bout time for Donnie to cool the embers on this inferno!!
    .
I didn’t see much of the game tonight….I caught Joc’s bomb, then returned in time to hear Vinny say…What a great job Bolsinger did tonight.
    .
    They’re winning…

  39. crash24now says:

Maybe we should keep this Bolsinger guy around a little while.

  40. crash24now says:

Six hits per night just doesn’t cut it. The offense is still AWOL.

  41. colliethec says:

Nice W tonight. Need the O to start hitting. As the Beave mentioned — time to move Joc to the middle of the order and J-Roll really needs to be moved down to the #8 spot. If Donnie didn’t want to pressure Joc early in the season and thus was batting him 8th… don’t you think Jimmy might be feeling a little pressure hitting in the 2 hole and stinking? Come on Donnie – time to buy a clue!

As far as the pitching — that was great to see tonight. Bols wrapped the game up in 2 hours and 11 minutes.

I hope everybody is doing well!

  42. crash24now says:

Poof! There goes this game. Hard to overcome a quick grand slam when our offense is only worth two runs per game.

  43. crash24now says:

Looks like Frias is having another one of THOSE games. Like the one he had at Coors Field last year.

  44. Dodger4life says:

    Call me crazy!

I’m going to hold out hope for a bit crash. Only because we haven’t sent a batter to the plate yet.

  45. trublu4ever says:

Let’s see how long Donnie leaves him in there!

  46. Dodger4life says:

    I stand corrected!!

  47. trublu4ever says:

    Wonderful!

  48. Dodger4life says:

Will they even score a run today???

  49. griz says:

Going back nine games the team has averaged less than two runs a game and today the padres are trying to break the scoreboard
    *
Just back from Telluride and got to watch last nights game complete with Vinny announcing. Seemed ironic to be able to see the game in Colorado but most of LA cannot. Anyway the puds are pouring it on and I’ll see you all tomorrow.

  50. The Beav says:

I don’t care that they’re getting bombed. Those games happen. What I do find objectionable is that they only have one friggin’ hit in 5 innings again. These line-ups ain’t working. Why not try shaking things up a bit? Lasorda used to when things weren’t going well. Hell no. Donnie has to have Rollins bat second every single f-ing day. Joc has to bat leadoff every day. Screw that. Of course the only different line-up Donnie knows is the bullshit all righty one that’s worked so well this year.

I’m torn. I want them to win because they’re my team even though I know they’ll fail again in the playoffs. On the other hand, if they epically tank, then maybe we finally get rid of Donnie and get someone at the helm who knows NL baseball.

    • Dodger4life says:

I’m gonna finally agree wholeheartedly that Mattingly is not going to bring this organization a ring!!

Before the slump. This club didn’t just hit home-runs at record clips…they just hit! Singles, doubles, triples…combined with a record number of home-runs for the time!

  51. vl4eccjr says:

    Congrats Austin!
    Welcome to the show!!

  52. Dodger4life says:

Hey Donnie! You always say you can see it in the player’s body language when they are tired! Rollins just threw his bat after that strike-out! I think he;s tired and in need of change!

  53. lbirken says:

Hard to understand what has happened to the Dodger offense. Of course, we really did not expect this team to be an offensive juggernaut and all teams go.through these slumps. Today’s game is disappointing after last night’s thrilling pitching performance.

Hopefully the Rockies will beat the Giants today.

  54. crash24now says:

Rockies are up 9-0 through five innings.

    • trublu4ever says:

10-0 now…..And, they were laughing their asses off at what happened to us! Karma is a bitch!

      • JhallWally says:

We took the series. And, coming off the sweep by the Gnats, I am happy… Not ecstatic mind you. The offense needs to get it going soon… I still think Dildon is our weakest link….
