With their best pitchers lined up for this series, maybe the Dodgers can salvage the road trip.

Dodgers lineup at Nationals:
Gordon 2B
Crawford LF
Ramirez SS
Gonzalez 1B
Kemp CF
Ethier RF
Uribe 3B
Olivo C
Greinke P
Looking forward to Kershaw tomorrow.
Me too. I think we have a shot with Zack tonight also.
Zack hasn’t given up more than 2 earned runs in a start since July 25, 2013.
It’s good to get out of Miami, now I hope we find Washington D.C. a lot better.
Go Puigless Dodgers
Like I said earlier on the other thred. I hope the Giants don’t make it an every other year affair.
The same goes for the Cardinals.
Geez!
Ouch, that was quick.
These National announcers, Bob Carpenter and F.B. Santangelo really make you know who they’re rooting for.
I can’t believe how bad Greinke’s doing.
The Giants are at it again.
Very unusual to see the Dodgers in the rain. Ain’t it?
I’m surprised they waited so long.
The weather certainly has been a factor on this road trip.
They might as well call it now. Rain is forecast for the rest of the night, at least until 1 AM with a possible break in the 11 PM hour.
I know…this sucks!
I was looking forward to another early night with the Dodgers here on the east coast but now…Who knows?
Well here we go again.
Well, OBF, this turned out to make you stay up as long as a long game in L.A.
It’s the same as for a game on the westcoast. I’m use to it.
Another night, another loss.
The ship is sinking we have to plug up some leaks.
Or throw a couple of guys overboard…
Good Grief!! What an offense… 0 for 6 RISP…. 12 LOB….
Our Dodgers suck right now…. There isn’t going to be a historic 42-8 run to bail them out this year…. It will become apparent that Dildon is not equipted for this job…. And, hopefully, the powers that be will realize that Ned is a yes-man idiot…… Please, let’s go in another direction….
It was exciting to watch the 42-8 run the Dodgers went on last season. However, I cannot take any joy in it, as, it saved Dildons job and got him an extension… I would have rather tanked and seen Dildon and Nedcompoop shown the door….
We would ultimately have been better off….
Zack deserved better….with our so-called high power offense, two runs should have been overcome in the first few innings. I, personally thought the game should have been postponed. For us, it has been a long grueling road trip….covering delays, extra inning games and, three weather changes….we had Winter, Summer and Fall so far. Hopefully, Kersh can right the ship.
“We’ve dealt with it. Injuries are a big part of it. If you use it as an excuse, and I’ve heard it used as an excuse, it’s just another reason to take the wrong road.”
Quiz: Who said it? Answer: Darryl Sutter (2012 Stanley Cup World Champion hockey coach) just this week. The Dodgers (and Lakers) like to use injuries as an excuse for not attaining the ultimate goal. Jibberish. If Ned had a deep enough roster to withstand injuries, or if Donnie had the grit to demand the highest performance from his players, whoever is out there, perhaps they, too, might have attained a World Championship. I hope the Guggenheim cartel gave Donnie his extension just to shut him up. He’s still a lame duck, in my opinion, and I hope Stan, et al, will swallow a few nickels to get things right at the top after the smoke clears from 2014.
Just the thought that the Dodgers made it to NLCS only last year is all the hope I have left. The fact that the start wasn’t any more or less spectacular than this year, makes me think they can do it again. We have the talent but the team just isn’t gelling yet. Ethier and Kemp seem to tell the story, when one is hot the other is cold. We’ve been here before, we just hit better when there are less men on base.
This team will have its cold spells and its hot spells, but bottom line is it still doesn’t have what it takes to be a true [and consistent] winner. Never has, never will with the two boobs running the show. Ned doesn’t know how to build a team. Donnie doesn’t know how to run it. Nobody’s held accountable for their play [except Gordon evidently.] They play with all the emotion of their manager, and all the intelligence of their GM. And I’ve lost all respect for Kasten as a baseball genius when he extended both when its apparent mediocrity abounds. SF has won 2 championships with 2/3 of the talent this club has always had. I dare say with Sabean and Bochy running the show they would have done at least that with ours, maybe more.
I missed the game last night, I am traveling to and from Nor-Cal again, bringing fruit (cherries) back home to Idaho. ( Just a head’s up, they may be expensive this year. They have been getting over a hundred bucks a box for the #1’s). I will probably missed most of tonight’s game as well?
.
I can’t argue the comments on this thread. And that’s not my style anyhow.
.
Donnie said, he needed the contract extension to gain respect among his players.
This, so far doesn’t look to be happening from where I sit. His players have slogged they’re way through the first 33 games. They have committed an abundance of uncalled for mistakes…some that come in the form of, on the field errors and some that come in the form of… not being prepared to play major league baseball.
It’s not that I approve of Donnie and/or, Ned… Or, that I disagree they should be fired. They too signed up to do a job. One that they have been given ample resources to achieve the end result. An end result that if successful will bring them both respect amongst their peers.
.
As far as injuries go, Kershaw being down is a big detriment. Although, you can’t say, Beckett and Maholm have been completely terrible in his absence. And, now that Ryu will be down for some time? They will need to continue to assist on the hill, which is what they signed up for in the first place.
.
2014’s group of Dodgers have plenty of time left to straighten out what has been wobbling up to this point. Injuries or not.
The bullpen has to come in and be effective, night in and night out. That is what they signed on for.
The defense needs to be fundamentally sound, this doesn’t mean we need 9 guys that will win gold gloves. It means even if no one wins a gold glove, as a group, they were solid.
The team needs to get back to the enjoyment of winning ball games. And winning them the right way….
There is still plenty of time to pull things together, and turn things around. And by around I mean, becoming the team in the division/ league that sits solidly atop the N.L standings. Anything less, and you aren’t doing the job well enough.
Most people in the world do get fired when the job isn’t done well enough.
Have good Tuesday, everyone…
.
I’m rolling my way back home with 1300 lbs of Bings and Raineers…
Pumping gas takes forever when people see what is in the back of the truck. But, driving away from a pump with more cash than you pulled in with is fun…kind’a like winning a game of baseball. Its a three stop series for me today.
I can feel the open road just reading your thoughts. Safe travel to you.
Funny, without TV, I haven’t really invested emotionally into this team. If I can’t see their play, I have nothing to judge them by. I do know they seem to be an uninspired bunch…not that they’re going through the motions or giving less than their all…it’s just a kind of non urgency. That life under a player’s manager.
It’s…time…for…
the Dodgers to get back in the race.
Led by Clayton Kershaw!
Yes, it is!
CC’s hot.
….and, Hanley, is not!
Would you believe I was going to say that?
🙂
Like old times, both Kemp and Ethier hit singles back to back,
Damn!
Second inning – second rally killing double play.
Good to see Hanley come through.
Finally…a run!
2-0
Now we have to hold on to this 3-0 lead. Com’on Kershaw.
Oh, my…a gift 🙂
Hanley’s 4th Homer.
He must have heard us complain 🙂
Butera’s 2nd HR.
What a shocker!
It’s good to read about all the runs. Unfortunately, it’s the bullpen tightrope walk from here on in.
I hope they hold on to this lead.
Do you think eight, no seven, runs will be enough?
Only time will tell.
WTF, Perez? Seriuosly?
I don’t like this.
No es bueno!
I’m glad that’s the end for Perez.
Finally!
Three more out to go for the Nats.
Much better tonight.
Giants Lost we Won 2.5 back.
I’m hoping for the same tomorrow.
Kershaw really is something. Off for a month and shuts them down completely.
Glad he’s on our side 🙂
I’m happy to see the Dodgers won! Based on the comments on here, it appears they won…
Woo-Hoo!!!! Win streak… Nice job Kersh……..
Not bad considering our 3,4,5, and 6 batters left 19 OB…..
I’m past my prime, but…
.
I have a better understanding of long road trips this morning…boy am I dragging.
.
I’m looking forward to some Dodger baseball after a few off days though.
Nothing to do for the Dodgers but to try to keep winning and keep pace with the Giants and Rockies and not fall to far back because they can’t depend upon another comeback like they had last year.
That’s something that doesn’t happen very often. .
From the weather outlook: looks like this game will not start until sometime around 4:30-5:00pm EDT (1:30-2:00pm PDT).
Wish they’d just cancel it and let our boys come home.
Giants are already playing (and losing 4-1 bottom of the 2nd) in Pittsburgh. They will have more rest than our guys. This has been one wet road trip.
I doubt they’d cancel it Tru because it’s hard to reschedule these east coast games.
Game starting in about 15 minutes??
I noticed on Gameday it’s been changed from Rain Delay to Warmup, so that looks like a good sign.
CC keeps on ticking.
Ol’reliable A.Gon does it again.
Way to go, A-Gon!
Puig is back!!!!!!!
Nice 2-0 lead start.
Werth’s killing us.
Between Werth and LaRoche they’re making it tough on us.
Haren is getting hit pretty hard. Can we buy some outs?
Giants lost, I’m glad that’s over with.
Haren in trouble again in the fifth, gives up a one-out bases-loaded Sac Fly. Will that be it?
I didn’t think he’d get through that inning.
It looked like Strasburg pitched around Puig.
I would too if Ethier was next.
I hope the bullpen is capable today – I’m looking for zero, zero, and zero runs in the 7th, 8th, and 9th.
Yeah but we have to pull ahead first.
First and second, one out, with A-Gon and Puig up. This is our chance to score.
This looks like our last chance.
Ten-pitch at bat for Gonzalez yields a weak pop-up. Now it’s up to Puig.
Puig lines out to CF. Don’t throw in the towel, but you’re right, that was our best chance.
I’m watching Steiner & Hersh, Bob Carpenter & FB Santangelo of the Nats must be cheering their A**es off.
Typical. Offense scores two in the first, then takes the rest of the day off.
Whatever Mac teaches, it worked for the working class Cardinals, but it doesn’t do shit for these prima donnas.
This is it.
Ethier,Uribe &&&
I’d say this road trip pretty much sucked. Don’t get it.
No luck. Another series loss. The only series that we have won this year have come against the D-Backs, the Padres, and the Twins.
I’m curious as to how many games… close or not, these guy’s have battled back to win??
I didn’t expect to beat Strasburg but we came close.
THAT’S the trouble Brooklyn. With the team we have we should be able to expect to beat everybody including Strasburg and Lee and Fernandez. There shouldn’t be anybody this offense can’t rough up.
I like how Donnie said, “we’re better than this” a couple days ago.
No, you aren’t.
I’m a great believer in that a team plays to the personality of the manager.
They played to Torre’s personality until Manny came along larger than life and instilled some enthusiasm for a year and a half. Then they played to Donnie’s personality until Puig came along and instilled some enthusiasm for half a year. Now that they’ve reined Puig in this season, they’re back to Donnie’s lifeless corpse of a team.
I can’t foresee anyone riding in this year to the rescue.
Dodger4life asked, “I’m curious as to how many games… close or not, these guy’s have battled back to win??”
Answer: The Dodgers this year have turned around five games which they were at one time losing, and they eventually won the game.
On the other hand, seven games in which the Dodgers were at one time winning, they eventually lost.
Thanks crash.
So far…this season has been ho-hum… The excitement and energy just hasn’t been there. That’s my opinion anyways.
With the Giants in town this would be a good time to get something going…
As bear alluded to above, here’s a breakdown of our heroes:
13-5 vs. sub .500 trash (Pods, D-Backs, Twins, Phils)
6-11 vs. +.500 winners (Tigers, Gnats, Nationals, Marlins, Rockies) and have not won a series against any of these teams. Donnie, it’s May. Settle on an outfield already.
Total it up and it’s 19-16 and more important only 2 1/2 games off the lead. If they can, at lease prevent the Giants from winning this series they’ll be in good shape. But of course nothing can be done about what the Rockies do.
Not surprising as our 3 thru 6 hitters were 3 for 18. And, left 13 on base… If the meat of your order can’t get it done, you are toast…
Ethier really sucked.. 4 LOB…..
This team is pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Stan….
Crawford is, right now, a bright spot for the Dodgers as he’s picked up his BA to .255.
