Sorry for the typo….we are so lucky to have him 🙂

Should be a great series with the Sox……I figure game 1 & 2 will be ours…with Cappy in game 3 …. not so confident.

  3. Why push Greinke? Crappy’s game just isn’t that important. It would take a collapse of monumental proportions for them to lose the division now. If anything, I’d go with a six man rotation in September just to rest our starters.

Another thing is, its a possibility they could face the Sox in the series so why let them have a first hand look at your #2 starter? I don’t have a problem with Kersh and Greinke both missing this series.

I heard they put Fife in the bullpen at AAA, and he didn’t fare so well. Then they put him back into the rotation and he had problems there as well.

  4. Hi Everybody
    We’re 10 Games ahead.

  5. This 10 game lead gives me a rare comfortable feeling.

  6. HANLEY really blasted that one.

  7. trublu4ever says:

    I.C.U. yay!

  8. vl4eccjr says:

    Here comes Kenley!

  9. koufax1963 says:

You have to admire the pitching on both teams tonight.

    • vl4eccjr says:

Oh yeah! Lackey has pretty much owned the Dodgers till tonight. Other than that one mistake to Hanley, he did well.

  10. vl4eccjr says:

    OUTSTANDING!!!

  11. trublu4ever says:

    Another BLUETIFUL night!

  12. Great pitching duel. Loved every minute of it.

  13. UNBELIEVABLE….I don’t even dream this good.

  14. JhallWally says:

Woo-Hoo, win streak….. And the Braves lost. We’re just 1 game behind them for the best record in the NL and home field. We’ve got the division wrapped up barring a monumental collapse. We need to stay hot and get the home field thruout the playoffs… Stay healthy and rest those starters.

  15. lbirken says:

I think the Dodgers should just leave the pitching rotation alone for now. With the way the team is playing, a bad outing by Cappy or any of the starters should not hurt the team all that much but certainly this is no time to ease off on the gas pedal. I am the optimistic fan but we have all seen teams lose big leads late in the season (see 1951). So for now I am pretty much acting like the players; taking one game at a time. This run since the All Star break has been remarkable to say the least. I say enjoy it for what it is and when the division has been won, then we can focus on the playoffs. And we have something else to keep our attention: striving for home field advantage. This is certainly a lot more fun than complaining about lineups and ownership mishaps.

I do have to say something about Vinny returning next season. He was put on this earth for a reason and I feel so grateful he has the health and desire to continue doing what he loves to do. How many get that opportunity? He has not only a love of the game but also a love for the people who play, manage and umpire the games. He will call a bad play for what it is but never directly criticizes or bad mouths the player. He wants us to know the game but never forget these are people out there on the field who have overcome great obstacles to be where they are and have some of the same problems and challenges we all face. He admires their ability and determination, while at the same time not wanting us to know anything about his own. Thank you Red Barber for seeing something in this young man so long ago.

Unbelievable! My local Fox station just pulled the plug on the Dodger game broadcast for a stupid & lame Cowboys pre game show right when it got interesting in the bottom of the 8th!!
I realize I live in Cowboy country, but this is just NUTS pulling it for a pre game show in the NFL pre season! They have to be mental midgets to pull off a stunt like this! I am LIVID!!! I’m sending a nasty gram to the local station!!

Thanks to Casper Wells losing an 18 inning game to the D-Backs, we are now just 9 1/2 games up.

    • kahliforni says:

No worries…Casper Wells is an outfielder…strange things happen in 18-inning games. Halladay back on the mound today after 3+ months, Snakes down 9-2 with six outs left to them…

  18. JhallWally says:

Boo-Hoo, losing streak… Tough loss.. Just ran into a really good pitcher that was on his game.. Much like what we will see in the playoffs…

    Dear Jerry Hairston, Jr.,
    .
Don’t call out your teammates in the media simply because they make rookie mistakes when they are rookies. This does not help the team.
    .
Puig is already a great player. He will only get better.
    .
You are not and never will be, but we still like you.

    Love,

PuigLover aka MartionLoneyKemp aka Dodgers fan since as long as I can remember going back to at least 1968 when I was five years old.

  20. I Everybody
I figured yesterday, I’d rather go out and enjoy the day, rather than listen to the audio of the game.

  21. The Red Sox seem to be just outplaying the Dodgers so far tonight.

  22. Peavey has been darned good, but he is ALWAYS good against the Dodgers. Glad he lives in the AL now.

  23. vl4eccjr says:

    OUCH!!

  24. Saltalamacchia might’ve put this game on ice.

  25. vl4eccjr says:

    Sheeit!!!

  26. vl4eccjr says:

    Rough night for Dodger pitching!!!

  27. vl4eccjr says:

If Kersh & Greinke pitched this series, it would have worked out much better! They with straighten the ship back up against the Cubs!

  28. vl4eccjr says:

    POOF!!!
    League being League. . .
    G’night folks!

  29. Oh Well, At least the D’Backs lost and we didn’t lose any ground..

  30. kahliforni says:

Disappointing series…not in the standings…but against three formidable playoff pitchers, the team laid an egg. Five runs in three games, zero rallies to speak of, soft outs, Ethier benched for two the games (not sure why he merited that treatment), and Capuano being Capuano, yet again. Whatever.

    • I don’t thing Cappy pitched that bad. It was just a game we were dominated by the Red Sox. They outplayed us in every aspect of the game and Peavy was his old unbeatable self. We still hold a 9 1/2 game lead.

  31. JhallWally says:

Boo-Hoo, losing streak!! Cappy was kind of Crappy, but, he did keep us in the game. Withrow really sucked… And, a note to Dildon, League is still not a go to guy late in a close game… Our old nemesis Peavy was on his game. I hope we get them in the WS and they have to face Kersh and Greinke…… I think the outcome will be much different…

    • trublu4ever says:

I was not amused with Donnie reverting back to his pre-winning ways…..fu*king with the lineup again…..so, Dre isn’t the guy (because of his numbers against Peavy)….but, he is a much better fielder than Schu….and, yet, you throw him in there to bat against PEAVY with 2 outs….and, don’t even keep him in the game for defense….plus, Donnie…you keep putting League & Marmol in games! WTF So, now that I’m almost through with my rant…..hey, Kasten & Co. Mattingly is NOT the right guy for our boys!!!!

      • JhallWally says:

Amen Tru!!! Well said…. I would not shed a single tear if they show Dildon the door. I’m just not impressed. He’s a dildo……

  32. koufax1963 says:

Our BP has 3 former closers in it: league, marmot and Wilson. Are any of them going to be useful?

    • JhallWally says:

League sucks, Marmol is scary, Wilson might be the one that really contributes…

      • koufax1963 says:

Wilson scares me with his “torture” pitching, and his beard looks as though something might live in it. Like uribe if this former gnat can produce and get results than I will embrace his roster spot, for now he is on the fence.

  33. enchantedbeaver says:

I wasn’t unhappy they only won one game against the Sox. I figured our 4-3-5 guys against their 1-2-3 guys were going to be lucky to win one. Fortunately Nolasco put on a clinic the first game.

What I was unhappy about was the totally inept hitting, Donnie’s inane line-ups, and of course still using League for anything other than to fetch a couple of hotdogs for the guys in the pen.

What I really find worrisome though is the lack of hitting against good pitching because that’s all you’re gonna get during the playoffs.

    • kahliforni says:

Bingo on the lack of hitting against good pitching. And way to give Ethier a confidence boost, Donnie. I mean, Schumaker is always a better bet to get a hit than Ethier. And Puig batting fifth assured Punto the extra at-bat in the 9th (not that it mattered) as Puig stared from the on-deck circle watching the final out. If Donnie Baseball takes this team to a title I’ll buy enchanted a scotch whiskey.

I stopped drinking the hard stuff, but I’ll take a beer 🙂
