    Lineup for tonight:
    CC, DH
    M. Ellis, 2b
    Matty, cf
    Agon, 1b
    Dre, rf
    Hernandez, c
    Schu,lf
    Cruz, 3b
    Tattoo, ss
    and, Ryu on the mound
Not too bad Bear, having Crawford as DH….could be worse.

    • crash24now says:

Crawford may be the DH technically, but this lineup has Schumaker in LF. Therefore, we could say that Schumaker is the ninth batter being used in an AL park instead of the pitcher. Schumaker’s batting average is .118 – ugh!

That gives us a pretty ugly 6-7-8-9 order in the bottom of the lineup.

  2. 32and53fan says:

    Good news:
@kengurnick: Hanley Ramirez is taking early live batting practice at Camden Yards and is hitting with power.

  3. Hi Folks
Here we are in Baltimore for I understand the first time since the 1966 World Series.

  4. trublu4ever says:

It’s raining there. Damn, I hate rain delays.

  5. Sorry about that I just heard from, I believe his name is, Gary Thorn (SP) that the Dodgers were in Baltimore in 2002.

  6. I’m having my tickets putchased for the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday games at Citi Field. I’ll be getting and paying for them this weekend. I’ll be biundling up in heavy gear.

  7. lbirken says:

I agree the DH factor does not really benefit the Dodgers. It is also clear that Donnie is using the off day, which basically was a catch up day from an all night plane ride, to give AJ an extra day of rest although I thought I heard something that the numbers favor Hernandez. Anyway, I don’t like the DH but perhaps it is time to discuss having both leagues play by the same rules, especially with interleague games on the schedule most of the season.

  8. I was always against the DH, mainly because I was afraid that it would expand to the 2B or SS etc.. positions not only for the pitcher.
Now I don’t think that will ever happen.
I’d rather see things stay the way they are now, keeping it out of the NL, for at least a while longer,
Also now with the NL using it more often, I might get more use to it.

  9. trublu4ever says:

Game postponed. Double header tomorrow beginning at 10:00 am PT.

  10. This reminds me of a night my daugter Claudine and I went to a game at Keyspain Park, now known as MCU park. Well it rained for hours before they finallly called it off.
Wouldn’t you know right after the announcement the rain stopped and it never rained again for the rest of the night.

  11. WELL THAT’S IT game postponed.

  12. kahliforni says:

Double header sounds fun…think I’ll relax and vegetate and watch.

  13. JhallWally says:

For a team trending the way our Dodgers are, an extra night off might not be so bad…. We’ll see…. Gonna be a tough series…

The Orioles are a good club… I’m hoping we can hang around .500 until we get Greinke and Ramirez back….

Just stay somewhat close and there is always a chance. There’s an awful lot of talent on this lineup. We just have to stay close and hope that they will show up……. Go Dodgers!!!!!!

  14. Here we go,
    LET’S GO DODGERS!!!!

  15. vl4eccjr says:

So today is the big ganja smoking holiday!
Those days are long gone for me. Many years & countless brain cells ago! I’m sure those ‘muchies’ I used to get when I was younger would have just evolved into a heavier experience for me today. In my current state, I would just get so ravenous that I would just go into the kitchen, put ketchup on both sides of the refrigerator, and go into attack mode!

  16. trublu4ever says:

    YAY FOR DRE!

  17. trublu4ever says:

Nice…finally scoring with runners on base.

  18. Dodger4life says:

As I lay in bed with influenza, I see we have scored some early run’s…Yay!! (That made me dizzy… I am gonna pass out again)!
    .
    Enjoy the games today everyone…

  19. vl4eccjr says:

    CRAP!!!
That makes it 1 for 20 with bases loaded so far this season!!!

  20. vl4eccjr says:

    Unravelling. . . . .

  21. Well there goes that lead.

  22. vl4eccjr says:

    It’s a really sad situation when the 6 through 9 hitters are batting a whopping .128 combined. . .
    LET’S GET SOME RUNS!!!

  23. vl4eccjr says:

    HA!
Cheap, but beggars can’t be choosers!

  24. trublu4ever says:

Brilliant move Donnie…thanks to you….game over!

  25. Doesn’t look good.

  26. Maybe we’ll do better tonight.

  27. koufax1963 says:

Is Beli on the snuff again? Geez

  28. JhallWally says:

    Pfffffffft~~~~~~~

    Good Grief!!!!!

  29. Com’on You can take it.

  30. We haven’t won in a week.

  31. messagebear says:

Maybe we can keep losing till they FIRE DONNIE.

  32. messagebear says:

    And WE’RE ON OUR WAY!

  33. And it’l be pretty hard to do so tonight.

  34. messagebear says:

I think we’re saving all our wins on this road trip for when OBF can get to see them against the Mets.

  35. ZonaDodger says:

Please FIRE Joe Torre’s clone already…This is pathetic

  36. vl4eccjr says:

    (_l_) ~ PFFFFFFFFTTTT! ~ ` ~ ` ~ ` ~ ~ ~ ~
    .
Another nasty, juicy, wet. lumpy, and putrid one they could’ve hung their hats on!!
    .
    Six straight? WTF?
    .
    PITIFUL!!!

  37. kahliforni says:

Hey, at least the Dodgers have a better record than the Padres, Marlins, Cubs and Phils…You’re doing a heck of a job, Brownie…er, Donnie…………….

  38. grizzy says:

The fun is going out of the new season rather quickly.

  39. JhallWally says:

    Pfffffftt~~~~, Plop…

Yep, we didn’t just stink it up, we dropped a turd…….

It really shouldn’t come as a surprise. This team is not that good.

I for one am not that disappointed. I don’t, and didn’t, think they were all that great going into and coming out of Spring Training..

Just too many holes that even money can’t fill…..

They would have been better off putting the money into player developement and scouting.

I know they felt they had to win now, but, that generally leads to bad decisions… This team is hosed for the next 4-5 years….

  40. trublu4ever says:

Remember when we had so many pitchers and didn’t know what to do with them? Well, Billz put on DL…..Fife called up and is starting today.

    • JhallWally says:

I’m not surprised.. Billz should have had the surgery… I am not impressed with the baseball acumen of this new ownership and management group thus far……

  41. ZonaDodger says:

Hopefully Fife can stop the bleeding today…Take Care All

    • JhallWally says:

I guess I am not the only one who thinks this team stinks…
Although, I said it before the season started….

Alot of turds on the Dodger horizen.

This team offensively goes as Kemp goes… Until he returns to his former All-Star/MVP performance, we will founder…..

      • trublu4ever says:

We should be as good as the teams in or division….as a whole, it kind of sucks….I think we are better than the Rockies and Giants.

        • JhallWally says:

Yes Tru, we should be, but, we are not. At least so far…

It is hard to say that the division sucks when the defending WS champ resides there.

The Dodgers will not return to prominence until the new player developement and international scouting and developement take effect. 3-4 years.. Then we can get back to what made us all love to Dodgers in the first place…..

  42. JhallWally says:

Freaking Pathetic!!!! On all levels!!!! Just like the full of money Fox ownership…….

  43. grizzy says:

At some point this has got to turn around.
Lucky for us this not a strong division.

  44. messagebear says:

I bet having a DH batting .095 has to set some kind of a record, No?

  45. trublu4ever says:

If I wanted to see Groundhog Day, I would have rented the movie!

  46. crash24now says:

I like the fact that Donnie finally dropped Kemp in the batting order.

Look – we have a lead! 5-4! I hope this doesn’t jinx it.

  47. crash24now says:

AJ Ellis drives in Kemp after Kemp’s SB! 6-4! Go Dodgers!

  48. Just got home, looks good so far/

  49. crash24now says:

    SF for Hairston!

  50. trublu4ever says:

    Yes, finally, a win!

  51. Now I hope they can turn this ship around.

  52. JhallWally says:

Nice win… Some good signs… The bullpen performed well and Kemp showed signs of coming out of his funk….. We need Kemp to be the man. He is the whole core of our offense. Just gotta stay around .500 until the All-Star break. Then, anything is possible….

I am more pessimistic than optimistic right now about our Dodgers.
But, I haven’t given up on them…. We have played and hit horribly for the first 3 weeks, and we are only a couple of games under .500.
Definately not out of it…… I am anxious to see what a healthy and full strength team can do.

  53. I’m looking forward to these next three days at Citi Field. Two nights and an afternoon, weather permitting. Last year the Dodgers did great but this is a new year.
Both teams are doing relatively the same. The Dodgers just below and the Mets just above .500 but as we know that doesn’t mean anything.

  54. crash24now says:

Puig update: Puig is on the disabled list at AA with a sprained left thumb, and is expected to be out for two weeks. Puig’s last game was April 18th, in which he homered.

    http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/21/yasiel-puig-is-on-the-disabled-list-at-double-a-chattanooga/

  55. JhallWally says:

I didn’t think he would replicate his late 2012 performance.
But, I did not think he would stink it up at Uribe levels…. Geez!!

    • crash24now says:

Who here is in favor of bringing up Dee Gordon to play ss, then move Hanley to 3B when he comes off the DL? Count me as being in favor.

      • messagebear says:

I would go with your plan, crash! Rather than just marking time with people that won’t be in the majors on any permanent basis, let’s find out if Gordon can do it – if not, then we’ll know that we need to look elsewhere. Since we don’t have any permanent 3B solution at this point, let’s make sure Hanley plays where he’s proven to be best, and that’s not at ss.

      • kahliforni says:

Oh ye of little reality, Hanley will play short because he told Donnie and Ned so. As for third base, look for an eventual trade for a very expensive, semi-decent one…

  56. crash24now says:

Billz needs Tommy John surgery. Boy, what a shocker. Too bad he didn’t realize that back in October.

  57. trublu4ever says:

    Way to go Tattoo!

  58. vl4eccjr says:

    WTG MARK!!!

  59. 32and53fan says:

Lets hope Beli can hold them.

  60. trublu4ever says:

    BeastMode Ellis strikes again!

  61. vl4eccjr says:

They’re finally starting to get timely hits!
    I like it!!
    I like it alot!!!
    😉

  62. trublu4ever says:

Boy, the New Yorkers sure love their Mets…so many empty seats. Oldbrooklynfan should be enjoying this game so far.

  63. vl4eccjr says:

    Win streak!

  64. crash24now says:

    Multiple game winning streak!

A big thank you to Mark Ellis!

  65. Dodger4life says:

I was able to catch bits and pieces of the game today…The Boy’s came out with appeared to be a no nonsense attitude from the get go!! Nice Win!!

  66. Dodger4life says:

    Appeared…I give up!!

  67. Dodger4life says:

    Good morning everyone.
    .
oldbrooklynfan said a few days ago, that maybe what I needed to start feeling better was a Dodger win? He was on the right track, it took 2 Dodger wins, but this morning I woke up feeling like a brand new man.
    .
ESPN game tonight, or, so they say…Both games this year have been blacked out, even know my channel guide say’s differently… Today I choose to have faith that they will actually broadcast the game.
    .
As far as Bills going to the DL, this really comes as no big shocker and I don’t blame him for trying to pitch. We have added Beckett, Ryu and Greinke, so we have other options now, although as everyone knows the Greinke option has been delayed a bit.
    .
I have read that Zach Lee is doing well so far this season, so maybe we will see a glimpse of him shortly?
    .
I agree with kahli that Hanley will play SS when he returns and the team will look to upgrade 3B through a trade.
    .
Kemp seems to be squaring the ball up better, (although I say this with very limited visual of said matter) I suspect he will find his full groove again soon, and generate momentum into this offense like he has in years past…
    .
Anyone care to guess how many gumballs are in the machine, I mean what game Kemp will hit his first dinger?
    .
(The winner shall receive a wax replica of Ned, as seen in Nashville this winter complete with boots, moosestash and goatee!)
    .
I’ll go ahead and guess tomorrow night in NY??
    .
    Go Dodgers!!

  68. JhallWally says:

    Woo-Hoo!! Win streak…..

Kudos to the bullpen…. Wow for Mark Ellis…..

    Let’s keep this train rolling…..

  69. I was, of course, disappointed in Kershaw’s showing but it was great to see our boys tie the game and then go on to take the lead and win the game.
Mark Ellis really had a night, didn’t he?
Well here comes the day many are dreading at least a little as Lilly will take on the Met’s new sensation Matt Harvey.
    Let’s go Ya Bums!!!!

  70. koufax1963 says:

I trust the dodgers didn’t use up all their run production for the week on last nights game! Another starter down, bye chad, hope the new proved version comes next year? 3rd base speculation, I envision Cruz spending time with maguire, apparently like sellers did recently, if that doesn’t change things, we may see a platoon of uribe, Hairston and punto playing 3rd, until one of the four hits consistently, if that doesn’t happen then the trade deadline will see a new 3rd baseman arriving. We have Hanley another year and yes it seems to be at SS. If dee Gordon can’t hit, we may not see him much. I’m viewing this season much like jello getting solid in a mold, it will take awhile. I don’t have much confidence in Lilly, but he is welcome to prove me wrong!

  71. Dodger4life says:

I only caught bits and pieces of the game last night on MLB.com, so I was unware of the night M. Ellis had. I did see his first two at bats though and even know in his first at bat, he managed only a single, it was an impressive single as that was a very tough pitch to hit. As you all are aware he took that low diving pitch and stroked it over the shortstops head.

  72. crash24now says:

Tattoo is benched today – being punished for going 3-4 last night?

    • trublu4ever says:

      Crawford too.

      • trublu4ever says:

Donnie doesn’t know how to put a lineup and stick to it. Even when the same guys are playing…always a different order.

        • enchantedbeaver says:

Quite simply Donnie is an idiot. He learned it from JoJo when Martin would finally have a good night, then get benched the next day. That’s a real good way to put a stop to a hot streak.

No offence Tru, but Andre’s two hot months are April and May. How bad is it going to get later in the year when he traditionally tails off?

          • lbirken says:

With tomorrow being a day game, expect more lineup changes.

          • trublu4ever says:

Yep…I’m expecting to see Uribe and Cruz or Sellers. Perhaps, even Dre or Matty will get the day off too….so, Schu & Hairston can play some more.

  73. lbirken says:

    Some random thoughts…
I don’t blame Billz for trying to avoid surgery last season. It did seem as if this was the right decision during Spring training but alas, what he wanted to avoid is now going to sideline him.

I heard on today’s pregame show that Donnie decided to sit Crawford because Harvey throws high strikes and Crawford has trouble with those.

I don’t know when Kemp will hit his first home run but hopefully it comes soon and with runners on base.

I keep reading about all the pitching the Dodgers had going into Spring training. I have nothing against Harang, Lilly or Capuano but I doubt any of them cause any sleepless nights for opposing hitters. I do think Lilly still has something left and he could be an important part of the rotation. That being said, if Lilly and Cappy can give the Dodgers 5-6 innings and keep the game close, they have done their job. Not that I approve of this sort of thing but such is the state of the game today.

Dee Gordon? I don’t think so, at least not yet. I agree that Hanley will play short and third will be by committee. I had hoped Cruz could earn the position but so far he has not. I think it is safe to say most of us do not like this situation and hoping for someone to “get hot” might be wishful thinking for this group. At least Uribe can still play decent defense.

Tattoo benched after getting some hits? Really, do you think Donnie even pays attention to this sort of stuff? I like Sellers as much as the next guy but he has had his opportunity and is on the roster because of Hanley’s injury. Who goes down when Hanley returns?

So FedEx gets sent down today. Still have no idea if this guy can play or not.

  74. trublu4ever says:

    YAY…FINALLY…MATTY!

  75. lbirken says:

Well, I hoped Matt Kemp’s next home run would come at an opportune time. Let’s hope the bullpen can hold on to this one.

  76. trublu4ever says:

I’d feel much better if we could get a few more runs.

  77. koufax1963 says:

I have reevaluate having crawford in left in late innings in a close game: Byrd’s fly I think could of been caught, and the lead off double in the 9th should not of happened. Lack of Hustle?

    • JhallWally says:

Yep, he botched that into a double. Should have been an out. I used to like having Gwynn to play late inning defense..

      • When you have at least one OFer who’s a bit suspect defensively, whouldn’t the prudent move be to carry an OFer who isn’t as a defensive replacement? If you’re going to carry Uribe and Cruz, neither one of whom can hit a lick, why not replace one with a gold glove caliber OFer who can at least run?

I suspect player acquisitions Kasten has a final say, but team composition I believe falls squarely on Ned, whom year after year shows his ignorance.

    • crash24now says:

Of course he didn’t catch it. The ball hit him right in the glove. That was definitely a catchable ball.

  78. trublu4ever says:

Holy shit! Nothing like losing big time!

  79. kahliforni says:

“It’s time for Dodger Hate Crimes.” Honestly, after 20 games, this roster is so far from being championship caliber; Stan has much work to do. Who’s the deep threat pinch-hitting in the late innings? Why would League start the Mets’ best player, Wright, with a first-pitch fastball? Why would Ned and Donnie anoint League the closer last WINTER? Agree with y’all, why would Donnie sit Sellers after a multi-hit game? Why keep flip-flopping Kemp and Gonzales? Why this? Why that? Why does Jamie want more money? Why is Ned still here? Donnie? McGwire and Valentin? Why do I care?

    • Kahli I tried to resist, thinking it would take until the end of May for this team to gel and take off (even without the injuries), but I’m having to throw in with you and Wally – this team has more holes than Swiss cheese, and are being led by someone that has not learned one single thing in 2+ years of managing. These guys will be lucky to finish at .500.

The Mattingly death watch begins. First will come the vote of confidense – we HAVE to be getting close to that don’t we? I’m going to say that if this team is 10 games under .500 at any point in May, he’s gone.

      • JhallWally says:

Welcome back to reality my brother…… This team is just not that good. And I don’t see them getting significantly better in the next couple of years.

  80. Hi everybody
Just got back from (Wednesday) tonight’s game. I think it was a wonderful game by two teams that could’ve gone either way, right up until the last pitch. Just what baseball dreams are made of.
Unfortunately we ended up on the losing side.
    Let’s get them tomorrow..

  81. JhallWally says:

    Pffffffft~~~~~

  82. crash24now says:

Last night’s game wasn’t a total failure. Many had expected this to be a loss just because of Lilly vs. Harvey. Lilly actually did a decent job, though he faltered in the fifth inning. We actually hit and scored runs off of Harvey. Kemp finally got his first home run.

…glimmers of hope. Let’s win the rubber game today!

  83. crash24now says:

    Another RBI for Kemp!

  84. lbirken says:

Disappointing loss last night but another example of the inconsistencies plaguing the Dodgers for a long time. Lilly did a good job but in his own words he said not being able to go at least one more inning put pressure on the bullpen. The offense did a good job scoring runs of a good pitcher but it still was not enough.

I am not so sure making a managerial change mid season would help this team. The roster is just not deep enough and the so called role players are not making much of a contribution, at least not yet. Crawford has cooled off and maybe Matt Kemp is showing some life at the plate but it will take more than one hot hitter to get this team moving towards first place.

  85. crash24now says:

Dangit! Now we need some more runs!

  86. koufax1963 says:

The lack of hits continues, not good for a pop band or the dodgers. Uribe with 3walks is slowly, really slowly, becoming our most productive 3rd baseman, and that is not a good thing, so the 3rd base carousel contined without anyone getting consistent at bats to develop

  87. trublu4ever says:

    Ha…rbi for my boy!

  88. crash24now says:

    We win the series!

  89. koufax1963 says:

Uribe has the game deciding hit! That a boy. Dre would of been enough but league gives up the HR, he is getting kind of broxtonish! Ouch but it is a W take it happy flight

  90. Bouncing back and winning is something I wish the Dodgers get use to doing,

  91. lbirken says:

Happy with the win, the boys needed it.

  92. kahliforni says:

“I was surprised I could have made such a huge mistake.”

    Quiz—Who said it?
    A: Ned, after hiring Donnie
B: Torre, after burying both Kemp and Ethier on the bench in favor of Juan Pierre, Luis Gonzales, et al.
    C. Donnie, after picking his face during post-game interviews
    D. Frank, after allowing Jamie to have a chauffeur
    E. Jamie, after “settling” for $131 million from Frank

    • lbirken says:

E, because none of the others have yet to admit to such a mistake.

But seriously, once again a McCourt makes a fool of herself on purpose by making such a statement public.

  93. Let’s hope they can make it two in a row,
