I knew Kennedy would be in there…one freaking hit yesterday and he is gold to Donnie!
Always.
Didn’t Cruz get a hit yesterday too?
He got two hits, one of which was a double. Thanks to ten doubles and two homers, Cruz now has an OPS of .685 (just above Kennedy’s .680).
Meanwhile, Uribe is still taking up space (and a lot of space) on the bench with his .541 OPS.
I just don’t understand Donnie’s reasoning…..and, I think A.J. should be batting higher in the lineup…..I’d put him after Hanley….then James, and Kennedy in the 8 hole.
Funny, I’d stick Donnie in Ned’s 2 hole.
I knew it as soon as I put it in writing 😉
See Hairston’s going on the DL. Herrara recalled.
Puig’s also been promoted to Cucamonga.
Does this mean we finally get rid of Uribe?!
Wishful thinking, Tru! I’m guilty of it also.
I believe it just means that 3B de jour will be manned by Cruz, Herrera, Kennedy or Uribe.
……until Dee comes back. Then, Hanley will probably move back to 3rd……don’t you think?
I doubt Dee comes back until the rosters expand in Sept., then I’ll be surprised if he plays much. I get the feeling they’ve soured on him and I won’t be surprised to see him traded over the winter in a package for a starter or 1B/3B, though if the Mets don’t sign Wright it wouldn’t be surprised they sign him and trade for a 1B.
Also, we have a gazillion infielders and, nobody (except Rivera) in case we need an outfielder. Another brilliant move!
I also wonder what the Dodgers will do with Dee once he is able to play. At the moment they really do not need him unless they can convince Ramirez to go back to third base. If Dee had better offensive numbers this might make more sense and be an easier sell. My guess is the Dodgers will delay this decision for as long as possible.
Second inning and, already one bad call.
Way to go, Victorino!
Nice….now, let’s get more than one run!
WTG, Matt!
Damn, Dre got robbed….he drilled that ball!
Still say it was a mistake to sign Andre long term. The guy hasn’t his a HR for a month, and $85M is a lot of money wasted on a doubles hitter. Only possible use I can see Dre being is if they could move him to 1B. At least we’re used to not getting any production out of that position.
I’ll bet you a margarita that Dre will be out hottest hitter by the end of the month.
You’re on Tru!!
( 😉 )
Just a wild guess, but I don’t think we have to worry about Loney being in contention.
lmao! He will be lucky to even be playing!
Can Elian play first? Oh, wait, Donnie will turn Uribe into our 1st baseman!
Sad thought, but I wouldn’t doubt it.
Uh, oh….here goes Harang!
Harang sucks. He’s just as bad as Billz when you give him a lead.
I think we should bring Fife back!
This is why I’m almost certain we won’t make the playoffs. You can’t keep trotting Bills, Harang, Caps and Blanton out there and expect to get anywhere.
Think Rubby gets a chance next year, or will we be stuck with a bunch of old worthless crap again? All but Blanton are signed for next year, plus we’ve still got Lilly. What a crappy rotation 2013 is shaping up to be.
I honestly think Kasten will do a re-vamp….regardless of contract or money due. At least I hope so!
.
Way to go Shane!
way to go Shane
Let’s see if Harang can hold the lead this time.
Only a single, Enchanted, but I’ll take it…he is warming up 🙂
Nice to see our future 3rd baseman, Headley was player of the week.
Oh, boy, Uribe gets to bat!
………..beautiful, just beautiful!
Pfffffft!!! ( l ) ~ ~ ~ What a waste of Oxygen!
Sure was……your comment makes me think of Jhall….hope he comes back soon.
If Uribe ever gets around to getting another hit, I think he’ll get lost trying to find first base.
I’d say Juan Cruz was a tad miffed! 🙂
What a genius Donnie is….putting Rivera in for Loney 😉
….why didn’t he put Cruz in for Adam?!
….Lyons said we would have nobody left if Cruz came in and somebody got hurt. Elian isn’t here yet.
Damn, Belli!
The game is getting too close for comfort.
See….told you….Cruz should have hit last inning! Bad move Donnie!
Sheeeit…..Mark, all we needed was a fly ball!
Damn, that inning sucked!
Okay, Kenley…2 more outs.
Yes! Too close for comfort but, I’ll take it!
Thank you Kenley!
Yeah Dodgers!! Woo Hoo!
to close for me but glad they pulled that one out…whew
Gnats getting smoked by the Nats lol…14-0
It’s 14-2, top of the 9th, and the Nats may be ready to score again. It’s SO nice to be tied – and maybe tomorrow in first place! Go Dodgers!!
I enjoyed every moment of this game! Listening to Miller and Krap (poor Krud couldn’t be there) trying to figure what the hell was happening…………..priceless!
Freaking unbelievable…….and, batting 2nd, playing 3rd, for your L.A. Dodgers….Juan (can’t-hit-worth-a-shit) Uribe!
……I think Donnie has finally lost his mind!
Agreed – what little he had, he has now lost.
I predict Juan will hit the ball at least twice tonight.
Yes, fouls count!
Let’s see….batting 2nd, he will probably get 4 at-bats….two fouls per at bat before either striking out or rolling softly to the infield…..we should give him 8 😉
…..oh, and, his BA should dip to around .150.
Guess Juany’s mom called Donnie’s mom cuz he wasn’t playing.
You’re giving Juan an awful lot of credit Tru – I don’t think he can make contact 8 times. We’ll have to keep track.
…..and, keep track, we shall!
🙂
And don’t think I won’t come down and collect on that margarita end of the month!!
I’m looking forward to it.
Oh come on, its Yawn No RBIs showcase, he is trying to be traded. Hey he has a .471 BA vs correia, this is his chance, his weight for Dodgers dogs to a willing team. Deal!
Actually its a real shame that we put Yawn in when Bilz is pitching so well lately, make me eat my words Yawn, but then Donnie will play him more, yikes
Hope the Nats beat the crap out of the Gnats again tonight!!
I hope the pretty decent Billz shows up for us tonight. I also hope Uribe pulls a hammie……oh, that can’t happen…you have to be running…..perhaps, he will swing so hard he will pull something else. God, I’m sorry, can’t stand him being in the lineup! Was hoping, if Donnie needed to give Mark a day off, he’d play Elian and Cruz.
I don’t know how Donnie or Ned or Kasten could even hatch a mere thought that Uribe would get any better as to why he wouldn’t have been cut by now.
Looks like Donny is trying to get Uribe something he can hit by batting him second. Hope it works.?.?.?.
Ugh….I hate rain delays.
Uribe….1st AB….2 (1 foul, fly out)
Wow – he got it out of the infield!
( ( 😉 ) )
Cruz is the man!
Wow….the Pirates’ announcers are pathetic!
Okay, Uribe…here’s your chance for a rbi.
Yea, sure……hit the ball total – 4
Come on Chad…you have 2 outs….get it done….don’t cave now!
Whew!
Note to Donnie……Luis Cruz must play everyday….screw Uribe!
Cruz is a keeper! He may not hit for much of an average, but his hits are clutch & timely.
Exactly!
Uribe…..5….BA .188 before this at-bat.
The only thing I can figure is, Uribum must have some incriminating photos of Ned in some compromising conditions (I’m trying to be polite).
Uribe is such a huge waste of a spot on the roster. . .
I’m thinking after his performance tonight, they will finally DFA him.
We can only hope!
Yeah, maybe this is the final evaluation under game conditions. I hope!
Enchanted…..I meant Cruz would be our hottest hitter 🙂
…..3 hits…..3 rbis….Donnie will sit him tomorrow!
With Mark’s bat cooling off, it would make sense to stay with the hot hand & keep him in the line up.
Cruz is the man and cruising again!
This is becoming the Cruz show! I’m with you tru. He needs to be in the line up more often.
8
Is that ocho as in stinko?
Yes……Beav wondered how many times Yawn would hit the ball (fouls do count)
By the way….who is that bearded guy on the mound for us? 😉
Could be a disguise . . . . 😉
( 😉 😉 )
This was one of his best games ever, IMHO.
It sure was…..I know it won’t happen every time but, if he can pitch without giving up more than a run or two, we should be in good shape.
Let’s hope so. If Cappy and Harang can pitch well, it’d be wonderful.
Do you remember back in the day when the Braves used to say “Spahn, Sain, then pray for rain?” I don’t want us to say “Kersh, Bills, then pray for rain, a flood and a hurricane.”
Yes, I do remember!
Wow…Cruz’s average is up to .274….nice!
Yawn is grinding this AB…..11 total, I believe…..he drew a walk 😉
I think that Lopes had to tell him where to go after the walk – it’s been SO long since he’s seen first 🙂
So true….lol
LOL….Pirates are losing it….however…..Dre with 2 rbis!
Wow! The Pirates sure blew that one. But glad that Dre got his hit!!
Me too…..I’ve got drinks riding on it 😉
You go, girl 😉
Holy shit….11 runs!
Nice Gold Glove worthy catch Dre !
Fantastic game guys…..I love L.A.!
Excellent – we win again!!
Way to go Dodgers! It’s nice when everyone contributes to the hitting (minus Yawn), and it’s even better to see good Chad! Yeah! 🙂
Hey Tru you called it – Uribe was able to make contact 8+ times. I’m shocked the pitchers were able to find his bat that many times.
( ( ( 🙂 ) ) )
Uribe! Work that walk. So important to that inning. I think he is worth 200 pounds of dodgers dogs. Wow! Perhaps the real team will come to the field wednesday.
What do you think? Maybe Billz grew a pair along with his beard.
*
I haven’t been able to give up completely on Uribe, for reasons I can’t explain, but we’ve come to the part of the season where it’s fish or cut bait. Cruz is hot and he needs to play and Uribe needs to go. Whether it’s the DL or just plain DFA, we need the roster spot.
Do we even have a batting coach? I know Mickey Hatcher was given a big job in the Front Office, but can we not get somebody to work with Uribe? I know he may be past hope; otherwise, he wouldn’t have caught Ned’s eye for 21 BIG ONES.
Anyway, let’s FIRE THE BATTING COACH, whoever that is.
Oh, and Ned, and Donnie, and Honeybutts too.
Wow…Melky Cabrera suspended 50 games for…yes, you know what! 😉
Surprise Surprise
It will be hard for them to replace the 2nd best hitter in the league. Our chances to win the division just got a lot better.
Charlie & Rick mentioned they knew this was coming for a while, and explains why they went after Pence so hard.
…..and, yet, the Giants’ guys were in shock!
Why oh why couldn’t that happen to Uribe. Let’s feed him a generous amount of poppy seeds – you’d think he’d eat just about anything.
Sad thing is bear, we shouldn’t have to. He should’ve been DFA’d weeks ago.
The only reason I can come up with for keeping him is that they don’t want him to go back to the Gints and have him burn us somewhere down the road.
No team would use him……he would just drift off into retirement.
Pablo Sandoval suspended 50 games…..testing positive for bacon! 😉
mmmmm…bacon
So…..how come Ned couldn’t land King Felix last month?
Nats almost blew it but, they beat the Gnats! Let’s go Dodgers!!!!!
Glad to see my boy, Andre, heating up.
I thought Lyons & Collins were bad….but, these guys from Pittsburgh really, really suck!
Vinny has spoiled me…..and, I’m so glad we have him.
Dre…2 for 2 off a leftie….just singles but, the bomb is coming!
To think Wandy have his number going into this game 3/20.
He was before today!
Wow….Kersh…2 for 2….he can be our new pinch hitter 😉
Can he play 1st base? This is rare Humber pitch a prefect game vs the Mariners, Mariners had a 6 man no hitters and now King Felix got a prefect game vs Rays. This is the 3rd times the Rays has been no hit the past 3 years..
Same team, that many NHrs. wow!
Come on Matty…your turn…bring these two home.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
….and, I see you, Hanley!
Keep poundin’ em boys, come on Dre, it’s your turn!
Wandy always seemed to do better against the Dodgers in a Astro uniform.
Cruz is doing a fine job with the glove!
……another reason we don’t need Uribe!
Does anybody else think Melky may have gotten Barry’s old locker in the Vagiants club house? LOL
I guess he felt he had to keep the tradition going…..karma just bit them in the ass after the way their fans reacted to Manny.
Yep! The ‘Melk’ has expired, and is unfit for consumption!
‘Got Juice?’
Hey Beav……Dre 3 – 4. 😉
Loney PH for Rivera but Donny didn’t want to PH for Kennedy with a lefty up. I guess he would’ve done it if Herrera didn’t arrive late.
Wow….Loney a pinch hit single and rbi!
Way to go Cruz! Good thing the RF can’t play the position!
Good defense boys!
Boy Pittsburgh has some ugly-ass fans (and, they always sit up close)….not nearly as good looking as our Dodger fans!
Just another reason to refer to it as Shittsburgh. The only thing that town has going for it is the Primanti sandwich!
Wow, another win, weird how 5 got 3hits, scored, but no RBIs, kemp one hits , 3 RBIs, love this team, and when K is pitching well, just great! Giants lose, more than the game, BYE Melkman. Shots around!
Come on League…get this over!
Nice……now, let’s do the sweep tomorrow!
Back in first!
Way to go Dodgers! First place ice cream!
Chocolate chip at my house 🙂
It’s uncanny, When I went into the hospital for my surgery, the Dodgers were in first place. After it they fell out of it and the Giants took over. Now that I’ve fully recovered the Dodgers are back in first place. I just hope I and the team stay healthy from here on out.
Uh-oh. Kennedy in, Cruz out.
And circle keeps spinning, this chapter of OTD began with complaints about kennedy starting. Donnie when are you going to wake up, play the best team you can, especially vs. a good pitcher like burnett.
Donnie is not very bright. Lucky so far, yes, smarts, NO!
Kennedy is hitting .182 against Burnett. Meanwhile, “Mr. Double” Cruz has the hot hand, and has better numbers against RHP than LHP.
…..and, good glove work to boot! Adam just sucks….as does Uribe…….can’t wait until they are both gone!!!!
That 3rd strike on Mark…BS!
Blanton has got to throw strikes, burnett does. Oh and the gnat fans around here are quiet. Got Melk? Got Burned!
Ok I take that back, Blanton shouldnt throw strikes. That might be the game there.
Sure glad we picked up Blanton for the stretch run… He’s actually got me hoping Lilly comes back.
why was kemp ejected? What did he do/say? oh man
The home plate umpire really sucks and, Matty had enough of his inefficiency!
Oh so Matty mouthed off, just great, takes himself out of the game, and donnie backed him up publically, and he got tossed, so maybe there is a manager that pick up this mess and get win, that would be cruz in at 3rd. Thanks tru for the update, cant see the game from my location
Freaking Garrett Jones – already before today, his OPS against the Dodgers this year was 1.171
Sorry, I didn’t see it but I don’t care how upset Matt gets, he needs to keep his cool and stay in the game. Let the manager take the heat for this sort of stuff before the player gets ejected.
Agree, but this way we got herrera in, and he came through. Matt must be is foul mood, dont need it
WTG Hanley!!
So glad ethier ran out that grounder, and even happier that Hanley cleared the bases so J LO wouldnt come up in a possible, oops probable DP.
Nice one, HanRam!
They just had the video of the ejections, a couple of people were pretty upset, and the way the low pitches are not being called strikes, I understand, don’t excuse
Um, if kemp were in center I doubt barajas would of scored. Thanks Matt mouth
Come on Donnie, you’ve got a bullpen. Use it!
again! Blanton has got to go, his pitch count was too high.Damn
Freaking Garrett Jones
Jeez!
Blanton blows! When’s Lilly coming back?
This tyrannical umpire bullshit has got to stop!! These imbeciles are on a power trip.
Today is by far the worst! MLB should really investigate the whole bunch of them.
There is no need for an umpire that’s under scrutiny for controversial calls to instigate conflict. They are supposed to be above that kind of behaviour.
Donnie’s too slow with the hook today.
And they sent down Fife why? Blanton blows.
For some reason, I don’t believe that Blanton wants to be a Dodger.
The reason Vin gives for a pitcher such as Blanton is because he has such great control and most of his pitches are around the plate. Far be it from me to challenge Vin but I have never understood that argument.
Actually, Blanton’s numbers might not have been so bad if the ump would have given him a few of the close pitches……Burnett got the calls….Blanton did not.
It would lead one to believe Campos has major wood for the Dodgers for some reason. Has there been previous conflicts between this bozo & the Dodgers before? I can’t remember.
I can’t remember either. But, he lost control of this game in the first inning.
I’m wondering if he’s the same guy who threw Lilly out of a game from the dugout too.
Bucknor always comes to mind for conflict first.
Maybe it’s the ‘Napolean Complex?’ Campos is a sawed off little runt after all. LOL
Yep, Bucknor is by far the worst of them all!
My post about Blanton was not clear. I was referring to the number of home runs he gives up because he usually has good control.
….ahhh, I get it…at my age, I’m a little slow 😉
Wow….what hustle by Mark! Nice!!!
Okay, Tru, time for your boy Dre to shine.
Damn!
I don’t know, didnt really like the rivera for herrera switch, I thought herrera would deliver in the last inning, rivera does get a chance to swing the bat. I understand the power numbers, but my gut check has rivera saved for another PH another inning
Granted Jim Mora is not Knute Rockne, but he booted his UCLA Bruins off the field last night for lack of focus and discipline, stemming from hot-head skirmishes during practice. So just what kind of grip exactly does Mattingley have on this team? Last time I looked a “players’ manager” was sent packing as the boys drank beer and ate chicken during games. For a team that hasn’t won anything since 1988 I woud expect a bit tougher hand from the manager. Kirk Gibson must be laughing at the Dodgers all the way from Arizona…
Oh, and I agree, I’ll take Fife over Blahhhhhhhh-nton.
Let’s hope the Bruins get the message.
WTF Wright!
If wright comes in, the dodgers are not playing for the win, merely to eat up innings, the dodgers have shown they can come back, but innings are running out, now if they would have followed guerra with league, choate, perhaps……..and I think back to kemp and he would of been up with the bases loaded last inning. hmmm strike this game. too bad a sweep would of been nice. Still in first alone
Not over yet but certainly looking more like recent Angel games than Dodger games.
Say it aint so, Joe.
wow Loney didnt hit in to a DP, and now Yaaaawwnnnnn
yawn might have walked, but NOOOOO!
I hope kemp thinks about his behavior, this game tilted on his mouth. Off to Hotlanta
Look at the positive. Not that long ago this team might have not had a hit let alone score a run after the third inning. This was not a good day but certainly not a disaster as long as the offense keeps up the pressure. And I agree, Kemp has to learn to keep his cool.
Reports are that Kemp got tossed for cheering on Dre, “let’s go Dre” after the plate umpire said he didn’t want to hear anything more from the dugout. WTF kind of bullshit is that? Why can’t umpires get disciplined and/or fired for bush league crap like that? How can you toss somebody for cheering on a teammate? I’d be all over Bud’s wrinkled old ass about this (in public.) Union or no, the umpiring in this league has got to be upgraded. I don’t think 3/4 of them even know what a strike zone is.
I heard the same thing and I’m pissed! You are right, Selig needs to handle this!
…..also, why don’t they discipline the umps for ganging up on Donnie! They had him completely surrounded and were very, very abusive!
Piss poor crew all the way around. Most all of these umpiring crews now think they need to leave their imprint on the game. I see Donnie wants to take this incident to the league. I hope he does. Unfortunately no balls Bud won’t do a damn thing about it.
Perhaps, Donnie’s buddy, Joe Torre will. Doesn’t he have a role concerning the umpires?
We’re approaching the point where Uribe could have a batting average half his weight – has that ever been done in the major leagues by a non-pitcher? I don’t know what the fastest way would be to achieve that – have Uribe bat more, or eat more? I know we don’t have a batting coach; how about a diet coach?
Andruw Jones came pretty close in 2008 when he batted .158 for us. His weight is listed as 230, but who knows the truth about that?
I guess we owe Matt kemp an apology if the account of his ejection in the newspaper is correct. From what was reported, he did not do anything but was a victim of an inpatient umpire.
The next time that the umpires’ labor contract expires, there needs to be a work quality assessment, and half the existing guys need to be canned. I’m sure there are plenty of replacements available from the minor leagues if not elsewhere. If the remaining umpires in the union don’t like that, let’s fire them too and replace everybody. Remember when that happened with the Air Traffic Conrollers? As I can see, all the planes, and more, are still flying.
There, I said it, and never the F word was used, tempted as I was considering these are the umpires we’re talking about.
Hi Everybody
After these ejections yesterday I was mad at Kemp for getting himself kicked out of the game. I began to get more and more mad at him as this high scoring game went on. I don’t normally go along with these (SHW) should have won games but to go through them with your best power hitter sitting in the clubhouse, it really pissed me off. I’d call it a(C could HW) more than a SHW.
But if it is true that Kemp was thrown out for just rooting for Ethier than I’d have to go along with ~Messagebear~ and say something has to be done about the temper of these umpires.
