    Absolutely F****ing ridiculous!

I was disappointed, pissed off actually, when Lo Duca was traded to the Marlins, but it was just after that the whispers about ped’s began to surface. I always have thought that had something to do with Lo Duca leaving. And, no, he doesn’t belong on the ballot. One all star appearance, and that’s about it.

  5. crzblue says:

I have no clue why and how La Duca is in the ballot.

  6. I’d just like to know why the print is so small on this tread. I had to go up to 200% to read it. I also wouldn’t worry about LoDuca. Apparantly everybody thought the same way you did, since he didn’t get any votes and is gone from the ballot.

    • The comments are O.K. though but just the caption is in tiny print on my screen.

    • 32and53fan says:

It is small because after I spent 90 minute struggling to create the new post on a hacked tablet computer, having the first draft disappear, trying to figure out how to select text, etc., I just put up a screenshot taken as a backup in case I could not finish. When I pressed the Publish button, the computer locked up. Frustrated because I had to get up early, I just posted the image of the screen instead of trying to publish it for the third time.

      I apologize for the inconvenience.

  7. I’m wondering if it has to do with a certain amount of service time in the bigs that automatically puts your name on the ballot. There are several players every year that you just look at and go, “Really?” Since he got 0 votes, we never have to hear mention Paul LoDuca and HOF in the same sentence ever again.

Unless the veterans committee brings it up in a few years… nah, they wouldn’t, would they?

  8. crash24now says:

Can’t wait for one of the Dodgers to get lost on a walk-about in Australia. I’m guessing it will be Puig…

  9. lbirken says:

I think any player who has been out of baseball for at least 5 years (and possibly has a certain amount of service time but I am not sure about that) is eligible for HOF consideration. What gets me is how some voters leave off names of deserving candidates while other voters give votes to players who clearly are not deserving on consideration. Just look at the some of the names that received one or two votes.

As I have mentioned before… Having lived in mostly rural communities and until the internet came along, following the Dodgers was difficult. Just that fact that I barely know who Paul Lo Duca is… should say quite a bit about his Hall of Fame chances.

Anyhow, I found this through a search engine…

    • Thanks D4. Hard to believe then that LoDuca played parts of 10 seasons. I remember his one good season. I don’t remember him sticking around for more than 3 or so others though, let alone 9.

  11. lbirken says:

I recall Paul LoDuca as an exciting player for the short time he was here but also a player who started the season strong offensively but slowed down considerably after the All Star Break. As a catcher he played a lot of innings because the team was short on quality hitters and he was a good hitter. He even stole a bunch of bases his first season. He was very popular with the fans and as I recall it was a big shock when he was traded at the July 31 deadline.

  12. messagebear says:

Looks like we all agree that LoDuca was not Hall of Fame material. More interesting is the case for Piazza. Should he be or not?
I enjoyed him when he played for us, especially because he didn’t come with such high expectations, but seemed to make himself into something special. Of course, when it comes to his preference to be inducted as a Met, my answer is FU.

  13. Dodger4life says:

I woke up this morning and read Dodger Insider… Jon has a piece about Don Mclean’s American Pie… which trickles into a piece about today’s youthful Dodger fans. This is what I enjoy about Jon’s writing.

Which made me think about Northstateblues… He had the same kind of talent I always thought… North, I hope all is well… Go Dodgers!

  14. grizzy says:

The Dodgers and Tanaka keep getting mentioned in the same conversation, but I don’t think I’d be willing to pay the price for him right now. Beckett will be back, and Billz a little later with a couple of kids waiting in the wings. I’d concentrate on the players we have now. Take care of them financially.

  15. JhallWally says:

A-Fraud is gone…. Thank You… The sooner the game is rid of his cheating and lying ass, the better… It disgusts me that we still have to see Ryan Fraud…. Steals Kemps’ MVP and walks away virtually unscathed…. Bullshit!!!!!!!

As far as the HOF for any of the cheating PED users. No Way!!

I could not tolerate those cheaters and liars having their likeness along side Musial, Williams, Mathewson, Gehrig, Walter Johnson, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, etc….

Or, to say the least, Jackie Robinson…. Do you really want that bunch of trash elevated to a status that puts them in the same room as Jackie or the aforementioned greats… It would be a crime against not only baseball, but humanity….. Geez!!!!!!!!!!!

    • trublu4ever says:

That POS A-roid is thinking of taking his case to Federal Court…..why doesn’t he just accept the verdict and, as you say, Jhall….get the hell out of our lives!

      • JhallWally says:

He’s a narcissist, just like Barroid and Clemons…….. They are not living in reality as we know it…

      • JhallWally says:

I hope the lawyers bleed his ass dry…

        • trublu4ever says:

          Me too!

          • I guess the only question is will he come back after his suspension is over. It looks like most are saying he’ll be unable to make it back because of his age. They are also saying that the Federal court will not take his case because they usually don’t in these cases. It’ll be something if or when he shows up to ST this year. The LI Ducks said they’ll let him play if it’s O.K. with the Yankees.
Oh I love this offseason baseball. The time is really flying by.

  16. messagebear says:

The only reason I see ARod having a chance in the courts is because Selig has MLB so F’d up when it comes to how it’s been mismanaged. Otherwise, how did McCourt weasel his way through forbidden bankruptcy to winning millions of unearned dollars for the franchise that he screwed for so many years. Selig is the one that should have been hung years ago instead of being revered for making MLB the billion dollar monopoly franchise that it is.

  17. You have a point there Bear but all we can do is watch and wait to see what developes..oh and enjoy it.

  18. lbirken says:

I too am tired of hearing about A-Rod and the whole steroid mess and clearly A-Rod stands to lose a large chunk of money that comes with whatever suspension he gets. All indications are he cannot win a case against MLB but I suspect MLB is doing anything it can to make sure this case never gets to court.

I agree that Bud Selig is as much responsible for mismanaging the whole steroid era as anyone and I cannot imagine he would want to disclose anything in court. While many will remember him for making the playoffs a lot more intriguing with the wild card and such, Dodger fans will most certainly remember him for cramming the McCourt’s down our throats and then almost choking on them himself trying to get rid of them.

    • JhallWally says:

Yes Les, I believe Selig has been a failure… The whole steroid issue came on his watch… He turned a blind eye in the 90’s. The Mc Court debacle is of his making…. Seligs tenure will go down as a huge setback in the overall history of baseball.. He wasn’t awful(close to it at times), but, he wasn’t very good at any time…. Overall, I’d give him a D+ for his body of work…

  19. grizzy says:

As I’ve said in the past, I think Aaron and Maris still hold the home run records. I was like some others who hoped a clean A-rod would break the career mark and legitimize the record once again, but no, he had to cheat too. Now the dumb ass should shut up and take his medicine. Hopefully a black list is on his horizon.

  20. Dodger4life says:

I’m getting some usual warm weather here in Boise… Low to mid 40’s with plenty of sunshine all week… Anyone want to play catch???

So long and good riddance to your sorrry cheating ass….

You are pathetic…. Should have manned up, admitted it and taken a 50 game suspension. You think you are bigger than the game… Guess again…… You can join Bonds and Clemons on the outside looking in….. Freaking cheaters…….

  22. oldbrooklynfan says:

Like Clemens (and I’m sure we’ve heard the last from him, I hope), A-Rod is just going down the same blind alley and I’m sure he won’t stop until he hits that brick wall like Clemens did. Bonds was smart enough to know when to stop, although he waited around for nothing. Now they’re all in the same boat..

    • Dodger4life says:

As you say most all were smart enough to invoke their right to remain silent… at least to some degree.

Imagine if A-Rod accuses MLB of cherry picking who they have exposed to steroids and who they haven’t in the past. Further cementing speculation that some who have been elected to the Hall are among this list?

I am not saying my thought has any validity… I am just saying A-Rod seems like the sort of (insert your own word), that would entertain this without much thought as to anyone, but himself.

Personally, I hope he comes to a sound decision and just takes whatever money he has coming to him… and does, well, whatever, wherever, we don’t have to be reminded of what a (insert word again) he is!
      .
Just read that Kershaw and the Dodgers may be close to a deal?
This has much better entertainment value if you ask me.

  23. crash24now says:

Pay Kershaw. Pay him now. Get a long term contract signed.

Yankees in holding pattern as Masahiro Tanaka chase continues
    http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/yankees/yankees-in-holding-pattern-as-masahiro-tanaka-chase-continues-1.6804616

“The strongest reported interest appears to be the Yankees and Dodgers. Some reports say Tanaka’s wife, pop singer and model Mai Satoda, would prefer to live on the West Coast.”

    Yes! Yes!!! Yes!!!!!!!!!

I remain optimistic that the Dodgers will sign Tanaka and have an unbeatable 2014 rotation of:

    Kershaw
    Greinke
    Ryu
    Tanaka
    Haren

Seems like LA is a better fit. Little Tokyo is just a hop, skip, and jump from Dodger Stadium and there are lots of brand new residential buildings in which to live.
