It Never Rains – Dodgers/Rockies

It never rains in sunny Southern California.  But when it does, it pours, it pours.

Will we get the game in tonight?  If we do, it will be with Rollins in the 2-hole.

  1. crash24now says:

Lineup – Only a couple holes

    Pederson CF
    Rollins SS
    Kendrick 2B
    Gonzalez 1B
    Van Slyke LF
    Grandal C
    Ethier RF
    Uribe 3B
    Anderson P

  2. crash24now says:

    Baez down – on DL.

    Coulombe up.

  3. Dodger4life says:

This used to be my splashin’ the aftershave tune, before heading out to the club (back in the day).

    • Dodger4life says:

I hope someone will splash some Hai Karate on Jimmy Rollins and wake his ass up tonight!!

      • crash24now says:

        Jimmy Rollins’ batting average

        .267 with the Phillies
.185 April – with the Dodgers
.146 May – with the Dodgers

        Mark Sweeney with the Dodgers

        Eugenio Velez with the Dodgers
        .000 ( 0 for 37 AB’s )

Jimmy – it’s not good to be compared to those two clowns. Get your shit together!

  4. trublu4ever says:

I guess Uribe whined enough to get playing time. It can’t be because Alex or Justin weren’t getting the job done! A lot of people think Donnie is wonderful….as for me, he’s lucky he has a talented team and isn’t fielding a team like the Rockies!

  5. crash24now says:

    It’s coming down now.

  6. crash24now says:

Which Dodgers, other than pitchers, have had more at bats and a worse batting average than Jimmy Rollins? It’s a pretty short list. Rollins has a .172 average with 122 at bats.

.171 Al Glossup with 217 at bats in 1943 (uh, WWII) – second baseman

.170 Jose Valentin with 147 at bats in 2005 – third base / left field

    .168 Mark Sweeney with 125 at bats in 2007-08 – 1b/of/ph

.162 Bill Bergen with 2,191 at bats 1904-11 – catcher – there’s hope for AJ Ellis yet – catchers didn’t have to hit back then? ??

.160 Jackie Hayes with 188 at bats 1884-85 – catcher

.158 Andruw Jones with 209 at bats in 2008 – need I say more?

.145 Jul Kustus with 173 at bats in 1909 – outfielder, his only year in the bigs

.120 Black Jack Burdock with 258 at bats in 1888 – second baseman, at the tail end of his career – he was 36 years old at the time. Sound familiar?

Come on Jimmy, do you really want to be one of these guys?

    • crash24now says:

If Rollins goes 0-for-4 tonight, he will sink below Sweeney and there will be only five Dodgers below him. Andruw would be the only one left from the most recent 100 years.

    • 32and53fan says:

Radio analysts say Rollins is getting better at bats and hitting the ball harder. A lot of them are just hit in the wrong spot. He may be pressing and trying to pull more than he should.

  7. Dodger4life says:

They say, not to judge a rookie until he’s had 200 at bats. Jimmy Rollins isn’t a stinkin’ rookie (although you wouldn’t be able to tell after that 9th inning at bat last night). Why the fuck can’t Donnie figure this horse/bull-shit out???

    • Dodger4life says:

There must be a shortstop in Extended Spring Training that can hit above two fucking hundred

      • crash24now says:

Arruebarrena? I thought he was lost. I have no idea where he is.

        • Dodger4life says:

My point is just about anyone in the system should be able to hit above .200! That seems to be your point up above as well. I don’t have a clue where Erisbel has run off to either. He has no 2015 stats???

          • Dodger4life says:

Arruebarrena is on the Ogden roster now, crash…He has been in Extended Spring Training, I suppose?. Rather unorthodox don’t ya’ think?

  8. oldbrooklynfan says:

Thank God it’s raining over there. They surely need it.

    • Dodger4life says:

I’m not sure, but I think most of today’s rain will just wash out into the ocean??. I think it takes snow-pack to fill the reservoirs??? I know that’s what they are always saying up here in Idaho. Well minus the water running off into the ocean part.

  9. trublu4ever says:

Interesting…MLB sent Mattingly an apology message that they blew the Stanton “catch” last night. After nearly a 10 minute review, they still got it wrong. So, I say “Screw instant replay!”

    • The Beav says:

What the hell good is a note? They ought to have to replay the game from that point.

And who’s the friggin idiot that brings in Hatcher with the bases juiced and nobody out? Someone needs to tell Donnie and his minion that sometimes save situations aren’t in the 9th. I’d have brought in a strikeout pitcher like Baez or Yimi. Was pretty damned predictable what was going to happen. Frankly, I’m surprised it wasn’t worse.

And thanks to Crash, we now have the Andruw line. I still hate that POS (Andruw, not Crash.)

BTW, glad to be here. How’s everybody doing? ; )

  10. Dodger4life says:

Damn, Los Angeles! Now it’s gonna rain in my neck of the woods tomorrow!! And here I was thinking we were friends!

  11. Dodger4life says:

Kinda ironic….All the replays of Rollins batting in the 2 hole clearly show Donnie to have made the wrong call!!

  12. trublu4ever says:

    Good news…….Giants lost!

  13. oldbrooklynfan says:

    2 more RBI for AGon.

  14. trublu4ever says:

    Thank-you Adrian….2 rbis

  15. trublu4ever says:

    Oops….a bomb for them!

  16. oldbrooklynfan says:

Rosario cuts the lead in half.

  17. nellyjune says:

We were watching the beginning of the Nationals /Padres game, and it started pouring rain 2 minutes after the game started. Now it’s raining at the Ravine.

    • trublu4ever says:

I plan on switching back and forth if we both get to play….I hoping Doug has a good game.

      • nellyjune says:

We were talking to Doug’s sister today at work. She was talking about how she’s the shorty of the family. I told her she would look kind if funny at 6’8″. She is very close to having another baby so she was talking about her boys possibly having the tall, baseball gene, like her brothers.

  18. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Anderson helps his own cause

  19. nellyjune says:

Woo Hoo! Nice RBI by Anderson!

  20. oldbrooklynfan says:

  21. The Beav says:

Be something if Anderson gets another 5 inning CG.

  22. oldbrooklynfan says:

Scully was talking about rain at Ebbets Field. I remember someone saying we had the fastest crew to put the tarp down and cover the infield.

  23. vl4eccjr says:

How appropriate. Rain delay there, and it’s coming down here like a cow whizzing on a flat rock here. Power already went out once.

    • The Beav says:

One of my clients up in Abilene was telling me they got 12″ of rain a few days ago. Any tornado warnings up your way?

      • vl4eccjr says:

None local yet. Of course its always subject to change. Most of he twisters happen from Seminole north through Lubbock & up to pan handle. Don’t get many here in the Permian Basin.

  24. crash24now says:

Game is back on. Dodgers 4-2 in the seventh.

  25. crash24now says:

Hatcher should only be used in mop up situations.

  26. trublu4ever says:

3 more outs….now, make it simple ….. no stress needed!

  27. crash24now says:

    Now we got some stress.

  28. trublu4ever says:

    Well, F**K!

  29. crash24now says:

    As vl4 would say, poof!

  30. Dodger4life says:

    Rally Bat Time!!

  31. Dodger4life says:

Rally Bat Girl must not be feeling good! Maybe she needs some chicken soup?

  32. colliethec says:

Well that was less than stellar…

  33. JhallWally says:

Why is Uribe still starting. A nice 0 for 3 with 4 LOB…. We have better options…

Another game we had. And the bullpen let it get away…. Geez!!

    • trublu4ever says:

It was useless having Juan in the lineup….but, Adrian messed up big time by trying to steal 3rd base (followed by a hit….1 run missed there) and, as Beav said, Yimi seems to be a head case….his stuff is still good but, we all know…’s LOCATION that matters.

  34. oldbrooklynfan says:

Another Yimi tough loss last night, I see, I lost my cable during the delay and I didn’t get it back until this morning. Better luck today.

  35. koufax1963 says:

thank God Jansen is returning, How effective? Lets put it this way, if he stops the Gnats from having a walk -off on the Dodgers that will be all I ask in the short term.

  36. crash24now says:

I’m wondering if Yimi should go to OKC for two weeks to get his head together and work on his location.

    • oldbrooklynfan says:

If he has a “closer’s mentality” he’ll just shake it off. It’s good that our real closer is coming back.

      • crash24now says:

I’ve been hoping that Yimi could be the strong set-up man for Jansen. Yimi-8th inning, Jansen-9th inning.

Losing Baez certainly hurts, because he was throwing the heat.

  37. crash24now says:

    Jimmy Rollins Futility Update

    .267 average with the Phillies
.175 average with the Dodgers in 126 at bats
    .185 April – 81 at bats
    .156 May – 45 at bats

Comparison to other 21st century Dodgers with more at bats and a worse average:

.175 Jimmy Rollins with 126 at bats in 2015
.170 Jose Valentin with 147 at bats in 2005
.158 Andruw Jones with 209 at bats in 2008

If Jimmy goes 2-for-4 tonight, he will improve to .185 and bypass Miguel Rojas (.181).

On the other hand, if Jimmy goes 0-for-4 tonight, he will sink below Valentin at .169.

  38. oldbrooklynfan says:

Two straight loses. Have to look more like 2015 tonight.

  39. The Beav says:

Evidently my first comment from this morning got deleted.

I’d definitely send Yimi back to OKC. That blown save a few days ago got into his head and manifested itself last night into a loss. If Donnie would use Paco as more than just a loogy the bully will be fine again.

    • trublu4ever says:

I did see it. And, my response way up there, was for your assessment. And, Jhall’s too. I don’t know how it disappeared.

    • Dodger4life says:

I read the comment this morning as well…I didn’t delete it though.

Yimi just needs to stay off the heart of the plate. His stuff is as good as it was before, he was just executing better. Baez and everyone else have run into this problem before. .You give guy’s like Cargo a pitch to hit in the 9th, down by 2, with two guys on and and you should kinda expect to get burnt. Scared, or complacent…without good focus, he’s useless.

  40. Dodger4life says:

What’s the forecast for tonight? Clear-ly Jansen!

  41. griz says:

We all knew the pen would struggle at some point, just as we all know it’s a matter of how they adjust and handle a little adversity.
I’m really interested to see how many first pitch breaking balls Kershaw throws tonight.

  42. crash24now says:

I don’t think Donnie likes Kershaw very much and will give him the low-offense lineup of:

    Pederson cf
    Rollins ss
    Gonzalez 1b
    Kendrick 2b
    Van Slyke lf
    Ethier rf
    Uribe 3b
    Ellis c
    Kershaw p

I hope he proves me wrong. Eddie Butler is especially bad against left-handed batters, so Grandal should start. However, Ellis has not played since Sunday.

    • trublu4ever says:

I think Kersh is more comfortable with AJ……my problem is Uribe being in there. You have Jimmy & Juan most likely non existent.

      • crash24now says:

Donnie’s going to keep putting Jimmy out there until Seager is ready, which is … not yet. There aren’t any real shortstops on the bench, although Turner can do a spot start here and there. I know that Beav wants Guerrero there, but that idea seems to make the team a bit nervous.

Donnie’s got lots of options at third base. No reason to run Uribe out there, when Turner and Guerrero both are so much better with the bat without giving up too much on the glove side.

  43. crash24now says:

Jimmy Rollins – Percent of plate appearances that ended in strikeout:

    2010 8.1% age 31
    2011 9.4% age 32
    2012 13.7% age 33
    2013 14.0% age 34
    2014 16.4% age 35
    2015 19.0% age 36

  44. trublu4ever says:

    Jansen activated…..Coulombe back to AAA

  45. trublu4ever says:

Just read where Turner at 3rd base….Uribe out….hope it’s true.

    • crash24now says:

      It’s true!

      Pederson CF
      Rollins SS
      Kendrick 2B
      Gonzalez 1B
      Turner 3B
      Grandal C
      Ethier RF
      Van Slyke LF
      Kershaw P

      • trublu4ever says:

      • lbirken says:

I usually don’t comment on lineups and this is nothing new but compared to past seasons, this lineup features hitters 1-8 that can hit the long ball. Make a mistake and pay the price even with the free swingers such as Joc and Scott.

  46. lbirken says:

I was at last night’s game and stayed until the bitter end. I have to admit it was interesting watching the grounds crew apply and remove the tarp. Clearly the crew has practiced this many times and they got the field ready in a short amount of time. During the rain delay the stadium DJ played every song he could think of that had rain as a lyric or theme. Not one tune from Nancy Bea until the 7th inning stretch, after which she leaves. And I might add it was a bit surrealistic to see flashes of lightening.

Was it Rick Dempsey who used to put on quite a show during rain delays by his crazy routines on the rain slicked tarp? Not that I ever saw him in person do this but I recall seeing highlights of his antics. I was hoping someone would do it last night but alas, no one did. And as much as many of us in the stands wanted to see a grounds crew member get sucked under the tarp, fortunately for those hard working folks on the field, that did not happen either.

As for Jimmy Rollins, I agree that Donnie would rather have him at short most of the time because it gives him more flexibility later in a game for pinch hitting and double switches. If the Dodgers continue to win and maintain the division lead, is it really necessary to make a change? I doubt the Dodgers would want to start the clock ticking on Seager’s major league service time unless absolutely necessary.

    • crash24now says:

You are a very patient person. It looked like lots of people left the game early.

Seager is only hitting .240 in AAA and has made 4-5 errors in a short time there. He’s not ready yet. I think we can wait until he has proven he is more than competent in AAA.

  47. oldbrooklynfan says:

I hope I have better luck tonight. I was watching Quick pitch on MLB Network and put MLB.TV on my computer to not miss the game when it came on. Than BOOM, I lost my cable (no internet, telephone or TV) and it was out for the rest of the night. It finally came back up this morning.
I didn’t wait for it to come up, I just went to bed.

  48. griz says:

You are right, lbirken, it was Dempsey.

  49. Dodger4life says:

I gotta feeling that tonight’s gonna be a good night
That tonight’s gonna be a good night
That tonight’s gonna be a good good night [x4]
    Let’s Go Dodgers, Let’s Go!!

  50. Dodger4life says:

  51. koufax1963 says:

Hmmm will clayton get win 100? I hope so. bummad and gnats got their win. It disappoints me, yimi and the ilk coughed up, while the gnats did also, a good sign

  52. oldbrooklynfan says:

    HR for J.Roll.

  53. trublu4ever says:

JRroll did that for you Beav 🙂

  54. Dodger4life says:

Such as the jersey Kershaw once wore…J-Roll hangs up HR, #54

  55. vl4eccjr says:

    WTG ROJO!!!

  56. oldbrooklynfan says:

  57. trublu4ever says:

    YAY…JT…2 RBIS!

  58. vl4eccjr says:

    Everyday Dre!

  59. trublu4ever says:

    Rbi for Dre…yay

  60. oldbrooklynfan says:

    WTG ‘Dre.

  61. vl4eccjr says:

As horrible of a game Butler’s having, they should be up by at least six runs.

  62. trublu4ever says:

    Wow…J-Roll….a 2 hit night.

  63. vl4eccjr says:

Rollins has moved up from sinking to clinging on the rim.

  64. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Kershaw did well tonight.

  65. vl4eccjr says:

    Not another bullpen implosion!!!!!!

  66. trublu4ever says:

    Dammit Paco!

  67. oldbrooklynfan says:

We got ourselves a ballgame here.

  68. vl4eccjr says:

Can’t throw that weak shit down the middle!
Even if the guys batting less than a buck!!

  69. The Beav says:

    Why can’t anybody pitch lately?

I’ve had enough. I can’t watch them blow another game they had won.

  70. trublu4ever says:

    A big WHEW!

  71. oldbrooklynfan says:

    We need some runs.

  72. crash24now says:

Yimi got the out. Let’s get some runs. We may need them.

  73. crash24now says:

I’m looking forward to seeing what Kenley Jansen has got.

  74. vl4eccjr says:

  75. crash24now says:

Beautiful! He’s got a lot. Struck out the side and then some!

  76. oldbrooklynfan says:

    WO 4 strikeouts.

  77. trublu4ever says:

    We needed that!

  78. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Let’s score some runs!!!

  79. crash24now says:

Way to go, Jimmy! You’re almost up to the Mendoza Line!

  80. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Adrian is due.

  81. oldbrooklynfan says:

    This is it.

  82. vl4eccjr says:

Second cookie right down the middle to Descalso! . . 😦

  83. vl4eccjr says:

  84. crash24now says:

    Whew!! Never a doubt.

  85. vl4eccjr says:

I’m just happy Kersh finally got his 100th win. It sure has been elusive. . .

  86. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Talk about nail biters.

  87. trublu4ever says:

Another stressful game but, I’m so glad the Kid got his 100th.

  88. JhallWally says:

Woo-Hoo, win streak!! Congratulations Kersh on your 100th win. I hope it doesn’t take five tries to get #101. Wow, did Kenley look good. Go Dodgers!!

  89. trublu4ever says:

    Poor Zack:
    Rollins, SS
    Kendrick, 2B
    Turner, 1B
    Guerrero, LF
    VanSlyke, RF
    Uribe, 3B
    Ellis. C
    Greinke, P

    • crash24now says:

When did Justin Turner (utility infielder) turn into a cleanup hitter?

      • oldbrooklynfan says:

If this was tomorrow’s lineup I wouldn’t be half as surprised as I am tonight.

      • Dodger4life says:

He penciled in Rollins, Kendrick and Greinke, dropped some hash oil in the ol’ bucks cup, then it came to him…along with the rest of tonight’s line-up. To avoid falling asleep on the rail, he’s scheduled a Cool-A-Coo party in the dug-out during the 6th inning.

  90. trublu4ever says:

Have to come from behind already!

  91. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Cargo puts the Rox up.

  92. The Beav says:

Who made out this line-up? Its like they don’t know anything about baseball at all.

    • messagebear says:

Well, you answered your own question, of course.

      • trublu4ever says:

When I complained about this, I was told it’s better to have these guys out there with Zack pitching….instead of tomorrow. Afterall, they said, all Zack needs is 3 runs of support……3 runs, my ass!

    • nellyjune says:

LMAO!!!! I was just coming on to complain about this damn lineup, and this literally made me laugh because it’s so true! Who the hell does this to a good pitcher every time?! It’s ridiculous! All dumbass did is decide Greinke is pitching better than Kershaw right now so he gave Zach the lineup from hell!

  93. lbirken says:

Wow, is Vinny bored by this game? He just told us about a cloud looking like a shark.

  94. lbirken says:

I wonder how much of the analytics plays a part in making out the lineup we see tonight. Whatever the reason, it is not working.

    • trublu4ever says:

It hasn’t worked all year ….. we lost precious games to the hated Giants because of their damn analytics!

  95. oldbrooklynfan says:

The Dodgers haven’t scored in 9 innings.

  96. lbirken says:

I can say with confidence no one expected De La Rosa to out pitch Greinke.

    • vl4eccjr says:

Safe to say no one expected a less than a buck batting Descalso to be inflicting this much damage either these past two games. . .

  97. oldbrooklynfan says:

    That might be it.

  98. trublu4ever says:

3 runs down….not looking good with this crappy lineup!

  99. lbirken says:

Sorry but even this lineup has enough talent to score some runs against whoever the Rockies have on the mound but not so far tonight.

  100. vl4eccjr says:

  101. Dodger4life says:

I’m just tuning in… I have to agree this line-up with Turner, Guerrero and Van Slyke and even young Hernandez as replacements should be good enough to score runs.
Santos might be better off resurrecting his career somewhere’s else…

  102. trublu4ever says:

I love the Dodgers but, I would be pissed off if I spent big bucks to go to the game and saw these players filling the lineup. Most of them are bench players and, I would want to see the regular guys out there!

  103. crash24now says:

Thankfully, I turned off the game in the seventh inning.

  104. oldbrooklynfan says:

Jorge De La Rosa really pitched some game.

  105. The Beav says:

Not surprising. Take out your big RBI guy. Throw in Uribe and Ellis. Even if they had gotten something going the bottom third of the line-up is incapable of scoring them. Great thing to do to Greinke. Poor guy had to pitch a shutout just to stay even. Then bring in Santos in a 1-run game to make it a 6-run game. This one’s on Donnie 100%. My guess is they lose tomorrow also with Bolsinger, so you let a team that had lost 11 in a row, beat you 3 out of 4 at your own home park.

    Welcome to Donnie baseball.

  106. oldbrooklynfan says:

Padres lost, but the Giants won.

  107. lbirken says:

I can understand Ethier, Agon, or Pederson fans not being happy but really, wasn’t there a big call for Turner and Guererro to get more playing time not all that long ago? And Pederson has not been hitting well for over a week. I would be more concerned about the defense with the inexperience in center and left and Turner at first.

This is just one of those games. You have to give credit to the Rockies defense as well.

  108. lbirken says:

I see the Dodgers have changed their approach at the plate.

  109. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Well that’s the ballgame.

  110. lbirken says:

Other than watching some good defensive plays this was a stinker of a game. I am looking for a win tomorrow.

  111. koufax1963 says:

i cant wait to see “sunday’s line -up” and we have monday off, why do the starters need rest, coming up to gnat land, the regulars need to be ready, hmmmmmm……very disappointing.

  112. JhallWally says:

UGLY!! What a stinker. I can’t believe we let a pitcher with an ERA over 7 come into our house and shut us down like Greg Maddux. And Santos really sucked. Unacceptable!!!

    • The Beav says:

Yup. You just can’t take out your top two HR hitters, your catcher that can actually hit, and a guy that’s on fire and expect to do any damage even against a guy with an ERA of 7. What imbecile other than Donnie would take out 4 regulars in the same day and expect to compete? If you’re going to rest the regulars in what amounts to 1 day a week, or even 1 day every 2 weeks, wouldn’t the logical choice be to rest one at a time and compete with the other 7 every day?

And this all right handed line-up against lefties bullshit has got to stop. Its a friggin gimmick that doesn’t work, hasn’t worked, and never will work.

Vin wasn’t too impressed either (you could tell in his tone) and said we were 2 and 2 (now 2 and 3) with this lineup. I don’t know what 2 games we won but I do know we lost 2 very precious games to the Giants because of this crap.

1965 World Champion replica ringAlthough I usually don’t go to Dodger games, I made an exception to attend the Old-Timers game honoring the 1965 World Champion Dodgers. I got a really nice and heavy replica ring to go along with the 1963 World Series champion ring that I got a few years ago.

In 1965, I was 12 years old and in the last year of Little League. That was my peak year for being a Dodger fan. It was great to see the players from that team as well as former Dodgers from other years.
Rick Honeycutt, Rick Monday, Sandy Koufax, Tim Wallach, Fernando Valenzuela

Sandy Koufax waits for Vin Scully to finish his introduction to join fellow Dodgers at the Old-Timers game honoring the World Champion 1965 Dodgers.
See for a list of all players that attended.

RIP Dodgers from the 1965 team no longer with us: Jim Brewer, Willie Crawford, Willie Davis, Don Drysdale, Jim Gilliam, Don LeJohn, Bob Miller, Johnny Podres, John Purdin, Howie Reed, John Roseboro and Nick Willhite.

I was disappointed that Donnie went with his left-right theory and sat AGon, Ethier, Pedersen plus Grandal. I got to watch the Old-Timers festivities and game from the field level behind the Dodger dugout before going to the Top Deck for the game. Their bats were cold tonight. Ibirken was right. Kiki Hernandez made a great over the shoulder catch right at the wall. Jimmy Rollins made a diving stop to his left and threw out the runner. It’s very doubtful that Hanley Ramirez would have made that play.

Well yesterday’s game came and went and there’s nothing to do but forget about it and hope we can get through this series with at least a split. Especially with the Jints seemingly coming on strong.
Too bad they don’t televise the Old Timers games on MLB.TV or Extra innings, I would’ve like to watch it. I remember following the Dodgers at that time through what seems like today “a pin hole”, but I remember them all.

  115. crash24now says:

Gonzalez came close to a homer twice that at bat.

  116. oldbrooklynfan says:

    We broke the ice.

  117. trublu4ever says:

We need more than one run.

  118. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Bolsinger did a fantastic job.

  119. Dodger4life says:

Once again, I’m just tuning in. I did manage to see the run score though. Looks like Bolsinger did a super job indeed.

  120. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Let’s get some runs.

  121. trublu4ever says:

Poor Kenley….has to save a one run lead.

  122. oldbrooklynfan says:

  123. trublu4ever says:

Whew….I’ll take it! However, hopefully with a day off tomorrow our offense will be alive and well at AT&T Tuesday night.

  124. JhallWally says:

Woo-Hoo, win streak!! Nice job by Bolsinger. We really needed this one. Go Dodgers!!

  125. The Beav says:

I have the feeling that Bolsinger will follow Ely’s career path – meteoric rise followed by the inevitable fall. Soft tossing righties not named Maddux don’t last long, but he’s helping stabilizing the rotation for now, so hopefully he can keep it up first time through the league.

  126. griz says:

I’m afraid the Beav is right about Bolsinger. He was great yesterday and credit to him. I just don’t see it continuing. I wonder which pitcher(s) the front office is thinking of acquiring and who the trade bait might turn out to be.

  127. koufax1963 says:

Ok, we got lucky yesterday. 1 run held up. Thank you Kenley, because without him, not sure we would of pulled it out in the 9th.
Some good news both Yimi and hatcher closed the door in their innings, will need the same come this week.
Now, on to strategy, and Donnie is going to remove all left handed hitting for Mad bum? Sorry, don’t take out our power and consistent hitters, just for some toss of the dice L-R match-up. It seems like the hitting just went south, and at home no less. The gnats are playing real well, and we do want to avoid a sweep again.
Im still scratching my head over the Grieinke lineup. I guess Donnie thinks we don’t need as many runs with Grienke (and perhaps Kershaw) pitching? Every freaking game is war, there is no game we can afford to lose. I just hope during the AS game Donnie learns something from Bochy, even by osmosis, because there are some things that are blowing my mind. Alex Guererro is a middle infielder, apparently quite the stud when in Cuba, yet he goes and plays Left field? I have no problem with Kendrick, but if he needs rest put AG there. Can AG out hit rollins? Can he play better D than rollins, perhaps not, but I would rather have SVS in Left than AG.
All I can say if our bats are cold the games will match the weather at the phone booth. Do understand the Gnats have a strategy vs. the Dodgers , especially vs. pitchers named Kershaw and Grienke.
I don’t think Donnie can say the same.

  128. oldbrooklynfan says:

I’m looking forward to this next series with the World Champion Giants.

  129. trublu4ever says:

Looks like Ryu will be having shoulder surgery. So, do we stand pat with what we have, or, do you see brass making a trade?

    • oldbrooklynfan says:

With the moves made lately with Frias and Bolsinger, who pitched well, I don’t think think the brass will seek outside help. They probably knew already about Ryu. Just my thoughts.

    • crash24now says:

Not good news about the surgery, but at least they are finally accepting that there is a problem.

The front office will make a big move to bring in a top starter. But they will have to wait until the other teams figure out they will not be in playoff contention this year. That won’t sort itself out until July, perhaps late July.

      • Dodger4life says:

Ryu has always been one of my fave’s…sad to see him have to go under the knife… On another note a successful resurgence of Brandon Beachy should aid in filling this loss.
