DodgerEric/Dad is in the House! Woohoo!

Seems to me that the McCarthy deal is looking alot like the Schmidt deal A total bust. And this one is on our new brain trust. Can’t blame this one on Ned…. It seems funny, that the first deal that they made, turned out just like Neds first move. A total bust… I am not impressed with our new ownership and upper management so far…

I thought Ned’s first move was Ethier.

I believe his first trade was Ethier. One of his first big splashes in the major FA market was Schmidt. Schmidt, JP and Jones. Could Ned pick ’em or what? He’d brought in minor FAs like Nomar, Mueller and Lofton, but Schmidt was multi-year big money.

Ned’s first move was to wear his gnats ’02 First Loser ring to his introduction press conference.

    Eric, is it really you!?!?!?!?!??!

Actually Ned’s very first transaction was signing Olmedo Saenz…then the trade for Ethier… and over the next seven days he signs SIX players (McCourt must have discovered gold or something): Sandy Alomar, Bill Mueller, Nomar, Furcal, Chris Truby (??) and Kenny Lofton. And a mere two weeks later he signs Tomko. No, I don’t remember all this, had to look it up!

Yeah kahli, the one the only (thank God!) I finally remembered my WordPress password. No shit. You should have seen some of the comments that got trashed because I couldn’t log in. Just stopped trying for a while, but I never stopped reading.

No one ever accused me of being too smart. 🙂

Hey, don’t forget that Ned also dragged that piece of crap trainer down here with him from frisco – the one who sat on his hands while watching Bonds work his “better baseball thru chemistry” experiment. I’ll wager he’s as responsible as anyone for stuff like Puig playing until he did real damage to his hammy.

Geez, you mean we’ve been missing all your venom due to a brain lock? NOT FAIR!!! We demand an abundance of insight now. By the way, am I too hard on Donnie B. as a manger, or is he really in over his head, in your humble opinion?

    dodgereric says:
    May 1, 2015 at 4:07 PM (Edit)

Hi Beav and TruMom! I’ve scrawled my password in crayon on my desk, so that unless someone comes in here and cleans it, I should be ok for a while.

kahli, I’m sure that Donnie is an upstanding American citizen, a good neighbor and nice to kids, dogs and old women. But he couldn’t manage his way out of a wet paper sack if you gave him a machete and a hand grenade – even if you pulled the pin for him. Which isn’t a bad idea actually. That idiot would bench Cobb and Ruth if a lefty was on the mound.

  2. crash24now says:

Lineup to face Rubby De La Rosa

    Pederson CF
    Rollins SS
    Kendrick 2B
    Gonzalez 1B
    Turner 3B
    Ethier RF
    Grandal C
    Guerrero LF
    Frias P

  3. trublu4ever says:

Let’s do this Boys! Welcome back Dodgereric!

  4. oldbrooklynfan says:

Let’s try to hold on to first, Guys.

  5. 32and53fan says:

It will be interesting to see if Rubby De La Rosa is as lights out as he was projected to be when he was a Dodger. The radio guys just said his fast ball is averaging 92-93. I thought he was more like 97-98.

    Go for the sweep!

  6. Dodger4life says:

Who’s ready for another bed-time story told by the one & only Vin Scully?
Oh Boy! I sure hope this one has a happy ending!!
    Let’s Go Dodgers, Let’s Go!!
    Clap! Clap!

  7. griz says:

Just back from another trip to AZ, where you get very little news concerning the Dodgers. I did see where McCarthy is already down for the count, Kershaw lost his game with the giants with little support and the boys did win their series with SF. No details until I got home and started to look around the web.
When Puig gets back I’m hoping Ether shifts to left and Crawford becomes the bench player when he becomes available. I think coming off the bench is the only way he will stay healthy.

  8. The Beav says:

I didn’t know Frias threw that hard.

  9. oldbrooklynfan says:

Man the HRs are really coming for the Dodgers.

  10. trublu4ever says:

    Grand salami for Joc!

  11. oldbrooklynfan says:

What can you say about Joc Pederson?

  12. Dodger4life says:

Joc seems to be handling the pressure of hitting in the first spot rather well!!

  13. Dodger4life says:

What a difference a year makes…. It’s May 1st, and thanks to Joc, the team already has that Grand Slam drought out of the way!!
    Eric Stephen @truebluela ·
Dodgers first grand slam since June 6, 2013. Snapped a 286-game streak without

  14. The Beav says:

Like seeing Frias shut ’em down tight after a big inning.

  15. JhallWally says:

Hey everyone. Great to see Dad/Eric back in action. Pederson is looking like the real deal.

  16. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Nice to have Dodgereric around.

  17. The Beav says:

Rollins still can’t hit the broad side of a barn.

    • JhallWally says:

Dildon should have left Ethier in the #2 spot and moved Rollins down to 7th or 8th.

    • vl4eccjr says:

Couldn’t hit a bull in the ass with a handful of corn!!

      • The Beav says:

You’ve been in Texas awhile haven’t you VL…

        : )

        • vl4eccjr says:

Yep! I will always be a New Mexican at heart though.
          Irish American type. 😉

          • The Beav says:

Where did you live in NM?

          • vl4eccjr says:

La Luz, a small village north of Alamogordo. Went to Alamogordo High. Class of 77.

          • vl4eccjr says:

Lived in Artesia for a while after my
            army days too.

          • The Beav says:

I’ve been in LaLuz. And Tularosa. And Carrizozo. And Cloudcroft. I’ve seen the oryx at White Sands. And the petroglyphs at Three Rivers.

I lived in Las Cruces for 5 years. I miss it. Don’t know what ever possessed me to move back to Cali. Had a nice house out on the east mesa with a great view of the Organs.

          • The Beav says:

Been in Artesia a few times. Can’t remember the name of it, but stopped at a Mexican restaurant there a few times before we’d either go up to Roswell or go the back way up to Cloudcroft.

Great state. Everything’s cheap. You get out of town and there’s nobody for miles. Mexican food to die for. None of this Tex-Mex crap. Everything was homemade from Hatch chilies. I still buy my salsa from there. I can’t eat anything else.

          • vl4eccjr says:

The premier Mexican food place in Artesia is La Fonda. Excellent Chimichangas!

          • vl4eccjr says:

I miss all the spelunking & Rappelling I used to do all over the state. Loved to rappel off the cliff just opposite the Cloudcroft tunnel in High Rolls. Used to tie off & smoke a doob halfway down the over hang. 😉

          • The Beav says:

LaFonda sounds familiar. I think that was the place.

          • The Beav says:

Its a neat place. I’d still consider moving back there to retire. Of course that’ll be awhile. Sounds like you and I are the same age.

  18. The Beav says:

Jeez, Hanley could field as well as Rollins has been. And he could hit.

Do you think the boys upstairs are thinking Seager sometime this year? They’ve moved him up to AAA now.

    • JhallWally says:

I certainly hope so. This Rollins thing is not working out quite like they planned. He was to at least provide an upgrade on defense. Thankfully, he is only signed for one year.

    • Dodger4life says:

Rollins fields better than Hanley. At least until he breaks up a Kershaw perfect game!

  19. oldbrooklynfan says:

    That was tough, eh?

  20. trublu4ever says:

  21. vl4eccjr says:

    WTG DRE!!!

  22. trublu4ever says:

    That’s my Boy!

  23. The Beav says:

Andre must have discovered the fountain of youth.

  24. Dodger4life says:

We should be able to find a trade partner for that #16 guy now!!
    Dre plays better pissed off!!

  25. oldbrooklynfan says:

Your boy hits another one. Oh YEEEARH

  26. nellyjune says:

Looks like a Homerun Derby again tonight!! Woo Hoo!

  27. The Beav says:

Its not like we’re hitting much tonight. We’re just making the few count.

    • Dodger4life says:

4 hits with 2 walks and everyone of those have crossed home-plate.
      Dre has the lone single.

  28. The Beav says:

    Nice inning by Santos.

    • trublu4ever says:

Our bullpen isn’t quite as scary as last year…..I would go into panic mode every time Donnie put someone in there.

  29. oldbrooklynfan says:

I can’t help but think that Ethier’s trade value has gone up and I hate to think that.

  30. trublu4ever says:

    Way to go Scotty!

  31. crash24now says:

    Grandal sucks.

    Andre is the King.

  32. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Tremendous catch by Howie.

  33. vl4eccjr says:

Wow! Is Joc turning into a stud, or what?

  34. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Joc is a magnificent outfielder.

  35. vl4eccjr says:

    Outstanding pitching tonight all around!

  36. The Beav says:

Guess Howell really wanted to work on that knuckle-curve tonight.

  37. JhallWally says:

    Woo-Hoo, win streak!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice game…

  38. trublu4ever says:

    Awesome job Boys!

  39. nellyjune says:

    Wow! Joc is awesome!

Way to go Boys!! Nice win!

  40. oldbrooklynfan says:

That was one game that was ALL DODGERS.

  41. The Beav says:

Nite all. Good seeing so many here tonight and this afternoon. Started to remind me of the old days of ITD.

  42. Dodger4life says:

Frias kept the ball off the middle of the plate. Turner and Dre added some welcomed fan-fare, but Pederson’s, boy band grand slam set the stage for this win…and the bully didn’t let it come crashing down. All in all, this was one of the more enjoyable games this season..
    Good Job, Boys!!

  43. Dodger4life says:

    Hernandez is at shortstop tonight..

  44. messagebear says:

Interesting season so far. More power than we have seen in some time. Kersh is pitching well, but not getting the decisions so far. Greinke is off to a great start and is likely to opt out of his contract at the end of the season for MORE MONEY. We’ve got the tools to put up with injuries to Puig and Crawford and with the abysmal hitting of Grandal/Ellis and Rollins. More bench than we know what to do with, and you have to like the bullpen so far. I have to laugh at the Guggenheim regime and swallowing McCarthy’s contract – how can you fault anything when they’ve got more money than they know what to do with and advisers up the wazzoo. I’m still at the stage where I say GO DODGERS, F*** the Guggenheims.

    • nellyjune says:

      Well said as always!

      • messagebear says:

Thank you, and incidentally where is your son pitching these days. If it’s been mentioned, I must have missed it.

        • nellyjune says:

He’s living and working outside of Atlanta now, but now going to school part time. He stopped playing baseball because he got the opportunity to work and make money. He’s happy with his decision so we are learning to be happy about it too. He’s living on his own so I can’t complain from a parent standpoint because he’s paying his own way, and that’s very nice! Thanks for asking!
          Go Dodgers!

  45. oldbrooklynfan says:

The Dbacks didn’t take long to get on the board.

  46. oldbrooklynfan says:

Nice to see JT cut the lead in 1/2 almost immediately.

    • messagebear says:

I think we’re fortunate this year to have a bench that could easily be starters for most other teams – I would put Turner, SVS and Andre in that category, although Andre seems to deservedly be now a starter, at least until Donnie has to juggle Crawford and Puig again.

  47. oldbrooklynfan says:

We’re all tied up, thanks to Agon.

  48. Dodger4life says:

Nice play by Abe Van Lincoln out there in leftfield…

  49. oldbrooklynfan says:

It doesn’t look like Baker will be around to long.

  50. oldbrooklynfan says:

It will be interesting to see how Baker does in the 3rd inning.

  51. oldbrooklynfan says:

    That’s a lot better.

  52. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Well we’re even steven again.

  53. oldbrooklynfan says:

    In the hole again.

  54. oldbrooklynfan says:

I felt that one coming from Pederson.

  55. oldbrooklynfan says:

Now this game has a see saw feeling.

  56. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Can use that insurance run.

  57. oldbrooklynfan says:

The game ends just like the Giant game ended today. With the runner being hit by the batted ball. I watched both of them.

  58. Dodger4life says:

They made the best of a rough outing by the rookie pitcher, Baker.
Turner hits HR #3, Joc hits HR #6
Grandal’s bat wakes up, and again…
    The bully is magnificent!!
Win #15…They go for #16 and the series sweep tomorrow!!
    Nice Job, Boy’s!!

    • oldbrooklynfan says:

Yes the bullpen has been magnificent and they’ve been so important to the Dodger wins this season.

  59. trublu4ever says:

I was at my daughter’s house watching the fight…..keeping track of the game on my phone….and, I’m so glad we won. This year, so far, even if we are down, I still have the feeling we will pull the game out.

  60. The Beav says:

I think we can dispense with the Baker experiment. Let’s move on to the Wieland or Lee experiment. Nicasio pitched 3 great innings of ball. I have to question Donnie’s use of Hatcher as closer last night, but I guess he figured he could get he bottom of the line-up out. At least he used Yimi to face the tough hitters.

Nice to see we got a couple more bombs, but I think this barrage of homers is putting Donnie in full AL mode.

    • oldbrooklynfan says:

I think Donnie is using his bullpen one reliever at a time regardless of the inning, with no regards to any particular closer. It was a shaky inning for Hatcher, but thanks to the hit runner and the fielding, he made it through.

  61. crash24now says:

    Post-fight Lineup

    Pederson cf
    Rollins ss
    Kendrick 2b
    Gonzalez 1b
    Guerrero lf
    Ethier rf
    Uribe 3b
    Eillis c
    Anderson p

  62. crash24now says:

    Anderson versus Anderson

  63. crash24now says:

Let’s get some hits this inning. Chase Anderson hasn’t yet given up any hits!

  64. crash24now says:

Hey Rollins! Next time you try to bunt for a base hit, bunt up the third base line, not the first base line!

  65. crash24now says:

Way to go, A-Gon, on breaking up the no-hitter! Now let’s get a run!

  66. crash24now says:

Geez, this game is almost as boring as last night’s fight.

  67. oldbrooklynfan says:

Can’t get my eyes off that Rockie/Padre game.

  68. oldbrooklynfan says:

Nice to see the terrific outing by Brett Anderson.

  69. crash24now says:

Wow. Baez struck out the side, each one swinging at the 97 mph fastball.

  70. Dodger4life says:

I made a quick run to the taco truck before the game started….then fell into a food coma in the 1st. It looks like the boy’s are in a little slumber themselves this afternoon!

  71. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Another win for the Giants.

  72. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Bad news from SD.

  73. The Beav says:

Quick predict – Andre knocks in the game winner in the 9th.

  74. oldbrooklynfan says:

Why didn’t Kendrick stay at second?

  75. The Beav says:

Mattingly playing Russian Roulette with the bully again.

  76. griz says:

Do you pinch hit for Ellis if his spot comes up again? Not much left on the bench. May need the last bench players to pinch hit for the pitchers. I guess I answered my own question.

  77. crash24now says:

Santos was no match for Goldschmidt. Let’s see if Paco can strand him at second base.

  78. crash24now says:

Double for Dre! Starts us off!

  79. The Beav says:

Well, at least we know Uribe can’t bunt.

  80. The Beav says:

    No bueno.

Well, gotta go. Try and bring us home a win guys.

  81. oldbrooklynfan says:

    The Padres won.

  82. Dodger4life says:

  83. oldbrooklynfan says:

    The ‘Pen has been great.

  84. oldbrooklynfan says:

    I’m glad this isn’t a night game.

  85. Dodger4life says:

    Rally Bat Time!!

  86. vl4eccjr says:

    ZZZZZZzzzzzzz. . . . .

  87. vl4eccjr says:

  88. oldbrooklynfan says:

  89. vl4eccjr says:

Okay. I’ll admit Howell had me biting my nails for a bit. . .

    • Dodger4life says:

it was just another classic save the best for last situation VL…There was really never anything to worry about…

  90. Dodger4life says:

    I’d call that one a click-boom-walk-off!!

  91. The Beav says:

Howell may not be the sharpest pencil on the mound, but that was some quick thinking to put his glove behind him while he sat at home with his back to the runner. That’s gotta be the #1 web gem.

    • Dodger4life says:

That’s the 2nd put-out Howell has made this season while sitting on his ass… #webgem #goldenbumaward

  92. griz says:

I’m glad to see Grandal seal the deal. Maybe this will jump start him into being the offensive catcher we need.

  93. The Beav says:

Might be time to give Joc a day off to collect his thoughts. Been K-ing a lot, 6 in the last two games.

  94. trublu4ever says:

Glad we won…..makes traveling a lot happier.

  95. crash24now says:

It’s about time Grandal did something with his bat.

  96. oldbrooklynfan says:

I’ll be getting some needed rest for a week, getting to bed earlier with the Dodgers playing earlier games.

  97. trublu4ever says:

The Dodgers acquired 1st baseman Andy Wilkins from the Jays and DFAd Scott Baker.

    • JhallWally says:

That should make Beav happy… I think he stated after Bakers’ last start that he thought the Baker experiment should be over… I remember it because it made me chuckle as I was thinking along the same lines… I do believe that the folks on this blog could manage and GM as good as or better than what they are paying the current managers to do..

    • JhallWally says:

      Oh Yeah, Woo-Hoo, Win Streak!!!!!

    • JhallWally says:

I see where your buddy Dildon had Uribe bunting again. Good grief… Does this dildo ever learn… Of course, this time Uribe struck out…

      • The Beav says:

Yeah. Far be it from Dildo to let a hacker swing away, or to have learned from recent history.

  98. messagebear says:

My personal feeling is that they should get rid of Uribe by the trade deadline. Frankly if they could trade Puig for someone like Hamels or an equivalent, I’d do that too as soon as possible.

  99. oldbrooklynfan says:

I read in my morning papers that the Brewers will have a new manager tonight. They axed Ron Roenicke. No word on who the new manager will be.
