Tonight’s #Dodgers lineup vs. the Giants:
    Rollins SS
    Puig RF
    Gonzalez 1B
    Kendrick 2B
    Grandal C
    Crawford LF
    Uribe 3B
    Pederson CF
    Anderson P

  2. lbirken says:

Hopefully Puig’s hamstring does not continue to be an issue.

  3. colliethec says:

It’s cold and damp here in SF tonight — seems like a perfect night for Puig to start seeing as he has been having hammy issues.

  4. oldbrooklynfan says:

The Dodgers are 9-3 and the Giants are 4-10, but they haven’t faced each other yet, so it’ll probably be tough series.
    GO DODGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. The Beav says:

Sure hope Donnie Dumb Nuts doesn’t take until August to figure out Rollins is no leadoff hitter.

  6. trublu4ever says:

    Good arm Carl 🙂

  7. oldbrooklynfan says:

Joc came close, just missed it.

  8. oldbrooklynfan says:

Now let’s see if we can get that run back, quick.

  9. koufax1963 says:

um donnie, you could of walked crawford to pitch to lincecum??????

  10. vl4eccjr says:

  11. oldbrooklynfan says:

    All Giants, so far.

  12. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Alex does it again.

  13. vl4eccjr says:

    Guerrero delivers!
    On the board!

  14. koufax1963 says:

not all anderson’s fault, alot of DPs

  15. oldbrooklynfan says:

    4 dp’s in 6 innings.

  16. colliethec says:

So… I don’t like how they are setting things up for this series. #1 I don’t get playing Puig when his hammy is flaring and the weather is the way it is. Also he is an emotional guy and IMHO tries too hard in big games, etc. So I think he’ll be pressing because he hasn’t been playing and because of the fans, Madbum, etc…

In addition the pushing Zack back so he doesn’t face the Giants in either of the next 2 series is a questionable move. I would think you’d want your best pitchers going in this series and the next one against the Giants.

Now I hear that they have called up Hiesey for tomorrow – which might mean a trade. They are playing well and the chemistry seems pretty good but this might throw a wrench into some guys at the start of the series.

This to me is an important series – one that could really put the Giants into the corner and possibly an early knockout blow as they are coming in a little “fragile” & we are coming in hot.

But this would be an easy game to lose – game 2 we have Kersh going but they have Madison going so that could easily be a game they can take – then game 3 we’ll have a AAA call up instead of ZG.

Sorry – just me doing some complaining.

  17. kahliforni says:

Liberatore’s tight pitch to Aoki was the most life I’ve seen all night from the Dodgers.

  18. vl4eccjr says:

    Romo’s grease balls ain’t getting over. . .

  19. vl4eccjr says:

    Too many L.O.B. . . . 😦

  20. 32and53fan says:

Giants are playing great defense tonight. The DPs and circus catches are killing us.

  21. vl4eccjr says:

  22. vl4eccjr says:

Do I detect a pulse here?

  23. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Not tonight folks.

  24. lbirken says:

That was a crappy game. Some nights just not going to go well, especially when hitting into four double plays. The Giants looked great tonight; the Dodgers not so much. Hopefully tomorrow will be different.

  25. JhallWally says:

The top of the lineup let us down tonight… They had chances.. And they failed…. One thru Five basically failed big time tonight…
The pitching wasn’t exactly very good either… Just a bad night at the ball yard.. We’ll get’em tonight…

  26. koufax1963 says:

I just think we were outplayed, Posey at first did some excellent fielding. hit in too many DPs. I do like how carl was replaced by SVS.
Perhaps Crawford is getting his walking papers.

  27. kahliforni says:

One of these days…in a land far, far away…Donnie Baseball will call for a hit and run play. Until that day, look for many more “2-balls,” as Donnie likes to call them. I like to call them double plays.

  28. oldbrooklynfan says:

Clayton better beat Bumgarner tonight, if not, the Dodgers better find another way to win. Putting the Giants on a winning streak may be all they need to turn the momentum around and get back in the race. Funny how they waited until they played the Dodgers before they started looking like World Champions.

    • koufax1963 says:

OBF; Shouldn’t surprise anybody, and you have seen more than I have. The giants/ Dodgers rivalry is the best. Mad bum pitches really well at the phone booth, should be a good game.

    • crash24now says:

Kershaw pitches really well against the Giants. Kershaw has started a little off this year, but five days ago pitched well with 12 strikeouts and only one walk.

Looking forward to Bumgarner vs. Puig. Should be entertaining.

Go Dodgers! We need tonight’s win to get to a series win.

  29. trublu4ever says:

Dodgers recall Heisey and send Liberatore to triple A….stupid move!

  30. trublu4ever says:

Also, we acquired Xavier Cedeno (left handed reliever) from Nationals for cash.

  31. koufax1963 says:

I will say this, if heisey is in the line up tonight because of the L/R batting thing (Madbum a Lefty) and Pederson sits, then heisey better have a good game. I should see SVS in left then and Crawford gone.

  32. koufax1963 says:

yep the strategy is consistent, plus the stats(oh should I have said sabremetrics?!) Gonzo needs a break. Score earlier, score often! GO Dodgers!

  33. vl4eccjr says:

    A.J.’s batting woes continue. . . 😦

  34. vl4eccjr says:

    This home plate ump stinks!
Madbum’s strike zone is huge, while Kersh is getting squeezed!

  35. oldbrooklynfan says:

    This is Kershaw 2015.

  36. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Giants, showing their skill.

  37. crash24now says:

Joc would have made that catch to prevent the second run.

  38. vl4eccjr says:

    Aoki is being a pest!!

  39. vl4eccjr says:

    WTG ALEX!!!

  40. kahliforni says:

Whatever you do, Donnie, don’t play Guerrero. Keep him mired on the bench.

  41. oldbrooklynfan says:

  42. vl4eccjr says:

Kersh is off the hook. 🙂

  43. vl4eccjr says:

Ducks brought their brooms to Winnipeg to sweep the Jets! 😉

  44. crash24now says:

Guerrero should be in the lineup every single day.

  45. vl4eccjr says:

Yimi no bueno tonight. . 😦

  46. trublu4ever says:

Whew! We need some runs right now!

  47. vl4eccjr says:

Romo throwing greaseballs again. . .

  48. vl4eccjr says:

    Hope A.J. is okay. . .

  49. vl4eccjr says:

    Rules are rules!

  50. vl4eccjr says:

That bringing in Heisey for Liberatore worked out good. . .NOT!!!

  51. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Tomorrow’s another day.

  52. kahliforni says:

Very disappointing performance…if Guerrero doesn’t catch lightning in a bottle, Dodgers are shut out. And in the great sport of second guessing, many Donnie moves I didn’t like in real time. Turner needs to take his last at-bat, he’d been playing the whole game and he’s every bit the professional hitter Gonzalez is, plus Gonzalez is coming in cold on a cold night. You need a strikeout against Panik, and Howell is a soft-throwing slop lefty. I thought this new front office wanted power pitchers late in the game, you know, the kind that find holes in bats. Anyway, Dodgers look flat…again. On the bright side, the sabermetric boys are hopefully taking managerial notes. And that shift? Cut me a break. I can just visual a slow hopper to Puig. Ouch! But I guess that’s where you want your cannon outfield arm with bases loaded in the 9th and one out—at 3rd base??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? OK, I’m going to bed.

  53. lbirken says:

Another frustrating night in San Francisco. Of course, the Giants have good pitching but as I always say, in order to win a championship a team has to beat good pitching. The Dodgers had chances but all of a sudden they look like last year’s team as opposed to how they played coming into this series. I am looking forward to salvaging a win tomorrow.

  54. JhallWally says:

It might be time to designate Hatcher… He sucks…

    • trublu4ever says:

      I’d designate DumbDonnie first!

      • JhallWally says:

Hi’Ya Tru… Yep, we wanted Dildon to go away when the new owners took over.. 2 years ago.. I am at a loss to figure why they kept him and Nedcompoop… Those would have been my first two to hit the road… They both suck…

  55. koufax1963 says:

I agree Turner should of had his whack in the ninth. Donnie just did not seem in to the game, a long delay to pull Paco at the beginning of an inning. and although I see the five man infield benefit, I would keep my strongest arms in the OF, puig would not be at third.
I don’t know if fatherhood is affecting Kershaw, but on the road Im not sure little callie keeps him up.
OK vented aboutyesterday, and some kudos: Ellis got a hit, before he was hit. Uribe and Dre got a hit, and puig also and did some great fielding in right last night.
Now why is greinke not pitching today? just to start my rant for todays game. A sweep wont kill me, after witnessing the “best” Donnie could do the last two games. J-roll is that much of a defensive upgrade from hanram? perhaps season is young , but our infield isn’t.

  56. oldbrooklynfan says:

Well, it’s make it or get swept today. It would be good to win here, going into the weekend, holding on to first place, after all what’s taken place over the last two night’s.

  57. crash24now says:

Day game after a night game – perfect day to have Alex Guerrero in the lineup. Start him at third base. Let Uribe replace him in the seventh inning, but only if we have the lead.

Then do the same thing tomorrow night in San Diego. Time for Uribe to be the bench guy.

  58. crash24now says:

Rule 7.09(h) – Interference – runner is out.

“In the judgment of the umpire, the base coach at third base, or first base, by touching or holding the runner, physically assists him in returning to or leaving third base or first base.”

Runners on first and second, two outs, then fly-out to centerfield. The game is still tied 2-2 and goes to extra innings.

  59. crash24now says:

    Turner SS
    Puig RF
    Gonzalez 1B
    Kendrick 2B
    Grandal C
    Crawford LF
    Guerrero 3B
    Pederson CF
    Bolsinger P

Good start for Guerrero. Next step is to move him up to a power slot, like #5. Certainly he’s been hitting better than both Grandal and Crawford. Come on, Donnie!

    • kahliforni says:

crash, you mentioned, above, replacing Guerrero late for defense. I used to agree (thanks to all the front office ranting about his defensive lapses at 2B last year)….but then, they signed him as a shortstop, so I have to believe the guy can “pick it.” Keep him at 3B until the Dodgers are eliminated from the playoffs. Tie Donnie down and exorcise Torre’s PVL demons from his brain. Like koufax1963 said, “our infield isn’t (young).” Four PVLs, come to think of it…

    • oldbrooklynfan says:

I was thinking that Rollins looked like he needed a break. I think this day off will be good for him.

      • The Beav says:

Rollins has been going downhill for awhile. Seager last I looked was hitting about .500 at AA and playing good defense. No time like the present.

        • crash24now says:

Seager is a stud. I don’t get why he’s in AA this year instead of AAA. Maybe it doesn’t matter. He’d likely be better than Rollins at this point even without some time at AAA to get ready for MLB pitchers.

  60. crash24now says:

I just now recalled Justin Turner’s terrible game at shortstop last year. Yikes!

  61. oldbrooklynfan says:

INCREDIBLE, I’m running out of words.

  62. crash24now says:

Day game after a night game – perfect day to have Alex Guerrero in the lineup. Start him at third base. Let Uribe replace him in the seventh inning, but only if we have the lead.

Then do the same thing tomorrow night in San Diego. Time for Uribe to be the bench guy.

Good start for Guerrero. Next step is to move him up to a power slot, like #5. Certainly he’s been hitting better than both Grandal and Crawford. Come on, Donnie!

  63. crash24now says:

Guerrero is using the fire axe on the bench.

Four home runs in eighteen plate appearances. That’s like one home run per start. Let my people play!

  64. colliethec says:

Pretty rough couple of games – last night was a bummer but them’s the breaks. Donnie really seems lost and over matched, especially when facing Boche. One thing I noticed was in the B9 when Posey was at second he was pinch run for — anyone think that Donnie would of done that? I mean based on him not doing it last season with Ellis? Glad to see AG in there for Uribe today.

  65. koufax1963 says:

well this may be a line up that can deal.
Question: why is our team wearing “Dodgers” today? Last Night, and as I thought was protocol, they wear “Los Angeles” as visiting team.

  66. crash24now says:

A-Gone! He’s back! All the homers baby!

  67. oldbrooklynfan says:

Egg and potatoes man comes through.

  68. crash24now says:

One error for Turner. Turner redeems himself by tagging out the stealing Crawford (with help from Grandal).

  69. vl4eccjr says:

    Well what a surprise!
    Today’s game is a freebie on MLBTV. . .

  70. crash24now says:

I wonder if Uribe the utility guy can still play shortstop.

    • colliethec says:

I’m thinking that Hernandez or Barney will be called up before Seager. Seager isn’t on the 40 man roster. He might still get called up this year – I just don’t think it will be until later in the season.

      • crash24now says:

Hernandez would be good. Barney doesn’t have the bat.

        • colliethec says:

Hernandez has a good bat but he over swings all the time (From what I saw during ST). Even with 2 strikes and men on he was looooong & trying to go downtown. Sort of reminds me of Louis Cruz. Barney has a better glove. From what I’ve heard from management – they want guys who have good D and take smart approaches at bat. I would think that Barney would be the 1st guy up but I’m not the GM.

  71. oldbrooklynfan says:

    • colliethec says:

I think you are correct. He seemed tired at the end of the previous inning when he issued a walk and was pitching to Vogey – he was taking deep breathes. I was surprised they had him come out for the next inning.

  72. crash24now says:

Lead cut in half on Belt’s single.

  73. oldbrooklynfan says:

Bolsinger pitch a fantastic 5.1 innings eh?

  74. crash24now says:

2-for-3 for Guerrero! He’s our starting third baseman!

  75. crash24now says:

Game going according to plan. Guerrero comes out in the seventh inning. Now just rinse and repeat. Every game.

  76. crash24now says:

    Nice inning by Yimi.

  77. lbirken says:

Say what you want about lineups, subs, Donnie’s managing but this series is all about the Giants pitching getting out of jams, aided by a lot of double plays. The good at bats and timely hitting we saw prior to this series has disappeared as Gonzo, despite his big homer today, has gone quiet.

    • colliethec says:

Agreed. Personally I don’t blame all on Donnie – but he does make it easy sometimes. The payers have to make the plays and have the good AB’s & they haven’t. The Manager has to put them in situations where they will have the best chance of success.

  78. colliethec says:

WOW!!!! What a play by HOWIE!!!!!!!

  79. vl4eccjr says:

    Peralta can’ throw strikes!!!!!

  80. 32and53fan says:

Peralta gets out of the potential tie runner in scoring position!
Peralta walks the bases loaded. Peralta is really wild.
    WTG Kendrick!!

  81. oldbrooklynfan says:

    What a catch by Kendrick.

  82. lbirken says:

Thank you Howie! So does Donnie still come back with Peralta in the 9th?

  83. crash24now says:

    Need an insurance run here.

  84. colliethec says:

    I would go with Baez.

  85. lbirken says:

Baez it is. Too bad Gagne is not available.

  86. lbirken says:

So when they do throw strikes, the Giants hit them.

  87. vl4eccjr says:

  88. crash24now says:

    Damn it all.

  89. 32and53fan says:

(I’m looking for a word other than an F-bomb to express strong emotions. I don’t think this is the one.)

  90. colliethec says:

Got out of it. Let’s get 4-5 runs now!

  91. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Well…We’re still alive.

  92. vl4eccjr says:

Our bullpen is getting over worked.

  93. lbirken says:

Whew, the Dodgers get at least another inning.

  94. lbirken says:

I just felt it in my bones Andre would drive in the run but then he gets hit.

  95. vl4eccjr says:

    Another golden opportunity wasted. . . 😦

  96. koufax1963 says:

that was our chance, dont feel good about nicasio, momentum change

  97. crash24now says:

Ugh. Bases loaded bites us again.

  98. lbirken says:

Puig had a good at bat and I can’t really say Gonzo did not have a good at bat in that he did not swing at bad pitches. Sometimes the magic doesn’t work.

  99. colliethec says:

Just can’t seem to get the big hit right now.

  100. koufax1963 says:

A pitch out with two strikes on!!!! oh My and then the steal, and a replay for nothing. just makes our defense stay out there during all this BS, and everything changes, Donnie you screwed it up

  101. trublu4ever says:

    Ugly series!

  102. vl4eccjr says:

    SWEPT!!! 😦

  103. crash24now says:

Ain’t nice to be swept by the Gnats 😦

  104. lbirken says:

Seven game winning streak turns into a three game losing streak to a struggling team. Time to regroup and move on to the Padres. As Dodger fans we know nothing is ever easy. The Dodgers had opportunities but could not get the job done.

  105. oldbrooklynfan says:

I tell you, I hate like hell to lose, especially to these guys, but in all sportsmanship, I have to say. too bad, we couldn’t get a win but these were 3 hellava ball games. Don’t worry, the Dodgers won’t give up.

  106. The Beav says:

Think we saw the full scope of Donnie’s managerial skills this series.

Hope the front office took notice.

  107. crash24now says:

Can’t win a game on two solo HRs – need more offense.

  108. colliethec says:

Lost in pretty much every way possible – beaten solidly in game 1 – came back in G2 but lost in walk off – had the lead all day in G3 3 and blew it late then lost it later in another walk off.

Tough series — but long season and time to move on to the Padres.

  109. koufax1963 says:

second guess all the moves Donnie made, but he did make them, he wasnt really caught on all the mangerial decisions he made this series, crawford was still in Left field, moot point but I hope that catches front office notice.
    Tequila shots anyone?

  110. 32and53fan says:

Looks like this meme was right for this series.

  111. lbirken says:

I must have missed all the bad decisions Donnie made by pretty much going with what worked so far this season. I am not even sure he knows from day to day what moves management is making to fill out the roster until they tell him. The Dodgers had the hottest hitter in the league coming into this series leave a ton of runners on base. Dodger hitters kept hitting balls into the outer reaches of a big ballpark that resulted in long out. I understand that Uribe and Rollins are struggling but the defense suffers when they are not playing. I would love to see Andre out there but not in left field. The Dodgers are missing Ryu and Jansen.

  112. crash24now says:

Gnats are still in last place.

    • koufax1963 says:

Yea, Good news, Im just having a hard time accepting how shitty the gnats were before this series, and how well the dodgers were playing, we opened the screen door and the giants took the jewels from the bedroom, even though we threw our best at them, no ill will to Bollsinger, he pitched well!

  113. kahliforni says:

Dodgers had 0 stolen bases in the series…they didn’t even have a guy caught stealing. I think I remember one runner going a pitch. Running game? Donnie is a total American League manager…no feel for double switches or bullpen, no running, just waiting for homers and doubles. Bochy is the opposite, a NL manager who runs, works his bullpen with success, yada, yada, yada…

    • The Beav says:

Donnie can’t run this season because he doesn’t have a designated base stealer (Gordon) because that’s what he did.

I’m just thankful he has a designated leadoff hitter in Rollins because that’s what he does. We’re also lucky to have a rookie bat 8th because that’s what he does. We’re fortunate too to have a bullpen by committee because match-ups and 1-batter appearances are what they do. And dammit, you have to play the sad hitting veteran at 3rd over the hot bat rookie because that’s what you do there too.

      • JhallWally says:

Dildon can’t run this season because he is an imcompetent Torre clone.. Torre was and is incredibly overrated…. Dildon is a Torre clone and can’t think outside the box…. Geez!!!

  114. kahliforni says:

“…And though the 28-year-old (Guerrero) hasn’t approached Mattingly directly about more playing time, the skipper said Guerrero has posed some questions to assistant hitting coach John Valentin.

“‘[He] has a little bit, probably, some trouble understanding all of it, which is fine,'” Mattingly said.

Un oh….if Guerrero keeps challenging Donnie, he’ll be in San Diego with Kemp. Memo to the Guggs. Rather than trading good players who think Donnie is a loser, just trade Donnie.

    • The Beav says:

Totally agree. Mattingly has no, and never has had any business managing a baseball team. Job was handed to him without even one iota of experience, and IMO he hasn’t learned one damn thing in his 4+ years of on the job training. Why make sweeping changes to the roster if its still being led by a incompetent?

I’m starting to sway into yours and Bears camp. The Guggs deserve to lose if they keep this clown around. Maybe a sweep by SD would further the cause.

      • crash24now says:

If you’re the manager and you got a guy who has hit four home runs in twenty plate appearances, do you expect him to hit four more in the next twenty? No, but you definitely should expect him to hit better than “Mendoza” Uribe. Yeah, Uribe has a glove, but put the better bat in the lineup, for crying out loud.

        • trublu4ever says:

I’m hoping the front office is as pissed off as we are….if so, perhaps his days are numbered ….. and, yay for us!

        • oldbrooklynfan says:

If the front office see what most of the Dodger fans I’ve been reading sees about Mattingly, we may just be seeing the last of him. If they don’t, we may be in for a long season. I couldn’t really understand him double switching Guerrero out of the game yesterday.

  115. colliethec says:

Reports from MLB Network is that Hamilton could be gone from the Angels as soon as tonight – per Jeff Passen.
