What Will the Dodgers September Song Be???

.
The song to this point has been somewhat slow…
.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkB_d0oFAaM
.
Oh, it’s a long long while
From May to December

[February to October/November???]

But the days grow short
When you reach September

When the autumn weather
Turns leaves to flame

[Will 2014 burn like an ever glowing star, or become just more embers of a season that’s been charred???]

One hasn’t got time
For the waiting game

Oh, the days dwindle down
To a precious few
September, November
.
The team has played well enough to find themselves sitting a top the N.L. West, on this first day in September. They have managed to improve upon the early season errors and overall lack of good fundamentals. Josh Beckett and Clayton Kershaw have given us two no-hitters that will forever be looked upon as bright spots. Matt Kemp has turned a frustrating few years, back into one of potential. Puig has maintained a nice line across the board in his sophomore season. We have a guy in Gordon who has pleasantly and somewhat quietly taken over and improved upon the lead-off spot and second base position. Kenley Jansen has been for the most part all business when given the chance.

And these few precious days
I’ll spend with you
These precious days
I’ll spend with you
.
As far as I can tell, everyone on this blog, that was here in [was it late February] when Boy’s embarked upon 2014… Is still around as we head into the final stretch. Over 3 million fans  have shown up to watch the team in person. Season ticket sales were up across the board, so much so, that after closing down sales, the Dodgers then re-opened ”said sales”, even if at a higher premium than before. The faithful have even endured a season in which the beloved Vin Scully has only been view-able to a select few. A season in which he announced his intentions to return in 2015.
.
I don’t know what the Dodgers September song will be???

I do hope it will be one with an upbeat tempo…I do hope it will be a prelude to an October chart buster…I hold out hope that the September Song will showcase the talents of Kemp, Hanley, Gonzo, Puig, Uribe and yes, even Ethier lighting up the billboard. I trust that Kershaw, Greinke and Ryu will give the teams song a solid foundation on which to perform.

The team has one road trip remaining. Which takes them through San Francisco, Colorado and Wrigley Field in Chicago. Meaning, whatever song the team decides to sing…the majority of it will be sung in front of the hardworking, and loyal fan-base, in what once was referred to as DodgerLand..

It sure would be nice to see the Boy’s put together something that has us all humming the same tune… A tune that will forever stick in the minds and blue-bleeding hearts of us all…

.

Cue the music… It begins tonight, with the energetic Nationals arriving for the show…

Not that it means much…but the Giants play the majority of their September games on the road… which will take them through Detroit of all places…

  2. kahliforni says:

For me, it’s a win-win. Either the Dodgers do well…or the Guggs start cleaning house upstairs and on the bench. As for fan enjoyment (because, really, a couple days after the World Series ends, who cares anymore???), this has been a lost season without the Dodgers on TV. They are my backdrop to the summer and it borders on ridiculous and pathetic what the Dodgers (yes, the Dodgers, not Time/Warner) have allowed to happen to such a loyal fan base.

    • Dodger4life says:

Fair enough kahli…[l do get what you’re saying here and I think the overwhelming majority would agree with your thoughts of cleaning house…]

However, 7 is greater than 6… and I’d be less than truthful, if I said ”This didn’t matter”…just saying.

      • Dodger4life says:

Just for fun…what would you [and I pose the question to all], choose as a ”September Song” to describe the season…

        • Dodger4life says:

Enchanted must have something in the vault…How ’bout it Tru and Spark…give us your best Elvis impressions…Wally???…I would love to hear what Messagebear…would growl…Crash, what tunes running around in your mind…Lbirken…Koufax… Grizz…Oldbrooklynfan??? 32and53fan…enlighten us with your liking…Anyone I missed…jump in as well.

          • JhallWally says:

I would go with, “Toys In The Attic” by Aerosmith…. Pretty much describes our ownership, management, and at least one of our players……

  3. kahliforni says:

    The Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows.”

Lay down all thoughts, surrender to the void
It is shining, it is shining

In other words, what will be, will be…

  4. trublu4ever says:

I’m still thinking about my song…..meanwhile, the Dodgers have brought up: Joc; Fed-Ex; Guerrero and Yimi Garcia.

  5. Thanks for the song tag! I’m in the same place as Tru – thinking about it. One I know it won’t be is “Yesterday” 🙂

  6. September started off the way August ended with the Giants cutting another 1/2 game off the lead. Now 2.
My song by the Beatles, “We can work it out”.

  7. Dodger4life says:

I don’t know if anyone follows TBLA on twitter… but here are some of the recent tweets…
    .

    Eric Stephen @truebluela · 13m
Don Mattingly on Joc Pederson: “The people in our organization that have seen him the most say he’s the best CF in our organization.”
    .
    Eric Stephen @truebluela · 12m
More Mattingly on Joc: “He’s comfortable in all 3 [OF spots] & we’re comfortable with him in all 3, but we have a few outfielders right now”
    .
I hope the kid tears it up when/if given the chance…

    • enchantedbeaver says:

Translation #1 – Both Ned and I have our heads buried so far up our asses we haven’t bothered to see for ourselves.

Translation #2 – goodluck getting any playing time from me.

      • Dodger4life says:

I may be wrong…but I think, I read somewhere…a while back…that Mattingly said “if it was up to him…Joc would already be up and playing”?
        .
Either way, it’s rather difficult to think, Joc wouldn’t of been capable of carrying an offensive stat line equal to those blocking him.
        .
My assessment is…that this is about the Gugg’s not wanting to part with their money, while getting nothing in return. Which if I am correct, seems ironic…since it is exactly what they are asking those who could care less about baseball to do, in order for the rest of us to purchase their production…of said games.
        .
I’m not trying to defend Donnie here, as your assessment may have validity as well…
        .
I like the sound of what spark said…ROY in 2015 #yungjoc650

        • Dodger4life says:

It seems to me that there was rumored to be some discussion about calling Joc up instead of Puig last season???

  8. I am on record as saying I think the Dodgers should groom him to be the next ROY. May it be so!

  9. Quickly down 1-0 on Werth’s blast.

  10. Kemp’s 2-run HR put us ahead 2-1

  11. kahliforni says:

    Gnats have blown a 7-2 lead…now trail 9-7.

  12. It’s tied up again on Asdrubal Cabrera’s HR.

  13. Span’s HR puts the Nats ahead 3-2

  14. Dodger4life says:

The genius that is Ned, not only has enough utility players to cover the big league squad…he was able to cut one loose in the minors today. Meanwhile…his bullpen is littered with guys who are on his radar and others who never should have been in the first place….

  15. 2-Run HR by Denard Span, 5-2 now.

  16. zonadodger says:

Roberto (Long Ball) Hernandez lol…Thanks Ned

  17. Hernandez – bleh!!!

  18. The Rockies win!! 10-9

  19. trublu4ever says:

Both of our pitchers (if you can call them that) suck tonight!

  20. kahliforni says:

“Gio Gonzalez (6-9, 3.86) is enduring the longest winless drought of his career, going 0-5 with a 4.38 ERA in his last nine outings.”

Hey, the Dodgers have their one hit. This is a team built to contend!!!!

  21. 2 doubles make it 6-2.

  22. We’re getting shown up on fundamentals – this is not good.

  23. Dodger4life says:

Rendon had quite a lead on that stolen base…

  24. Uribe’s single makes it 6-3

  25. Personally I think the Dodgers put up a good fight and I think Kershaw will have his work cut out for him against this team, tomorrow night.

  26. koufax1963 says:

We got to see Joc, ………Bright side Dodgers 2 games up in first,

  27. Dodger4life says:

Hopefully they can sing a more favorable tune tomorrow…

  28. lbirken says:

My song for the season far? “Where Were You When I Needed You”, “Satisfaction” (as in I can’t get no…), “Still Crazy After All These Years”. OK, that’s enough of that.

  29. griz says:

The song that keeps coming to mind is Marshall Tucker’s “Long Hard Ride”. I always thought that would be a good song for a successful season’s highlight film. Staying positive. Got a few doubts, though.

  30. enchantedbeaver says:

Only one song for this team – Help.

    • JhallWally says:

LOL!! That about sums it up… My first thought was “Toys In The Attic”, from the ownership on down to the field…….

      • enchantedbeaver says:

This team just doesn’t stack up against a well rounded team like Washington that can pitch AND hit. Our team’s been one-dimensional all year and folds against anything but mediocre pitching.

  31. Things may look glum, but we have to remember that we’ve been hanging on for a couple of weeks now. Who knows? Maybe the Giants will never shake us loose. You know what they say, things are always darkest before the sunsrise.

  32. koufax1963 says:

OK I was wrong, NO increase in our lead, padres in extras took that out, a positive thing, the brewers just went cold, it was not so much the gnats were better. hoping Rox can be tough in their park vs the gnats, because these Nats are tough, a bad pitch will be launched by the #8 hitter as well as the #3 hitter.
We control our destiny, its a good thing.
I think “help” is a good song choice, Ive been singing it for the BP all year, and now expanding to SP and for good hitting up and down.
Hope to be singing, “champions of the world” in October, yes a throw back nod to 1981.

  33. Dodger4life says:

Hey everyone, I’m glad to see participation almost across the board on the song choices. I found them to be interesting and entertaining…If you haven’t jumped in with your pick, no hurry… Sorry I missed giving you a mention Grizz, Zona, Shad and anyone else I may have missed …I knew I should have researched a few threads as my memory ain’t all that good these days.
    .
There’s been some print about the Vegas odds of winning the pennant, both in the N.L and the A.L. If you haven’t seen one yet…here is a link to TBLA and the current line at Bovada. They cover more than just the odds of winning the pennant, but I’ll let you read the article to find out what is in it. Who knows we may even find a topic or two to discuss…
    .
    http://www.truebluela.com/2014/9/2/6097571/world-series-odds-dodgers-clayton-kershaw-mvp-cy-young
    .
After reading the article I decided to head on over to Bovada and see what else I could find…No, I am not wagering my money…but have a sheet of things written down just to see how my wagers would pan out if I did.
    .
Just for fun again today…I pose two hypothetical wagers currently on the board at Bovada…
    .
Total Strikeouts – Doug Fister (R) – This is an over/under wager, set at 4 1/2
    .
The over is at [-130] meaning if you bet 130, you will win 100
    .
    The under is [even money].
    .
The second one I thought might be fun trying to calculate the outcome of [once again hypothetically] is…
    .
Will Dee Gordon (LA) steal a base? – This is set as a money line bet
    .
    Yes – – – [+150] meaning you would receive 150 for every 100 wagered

    No – – – -[-200] meaning you would receive 100 for every 200 wagered
    .
My picks are [over] on Fister – Total Strikeouts – [Yes] on Gordon grabbing a free base by way of theft.

  34. kahliforni says:

With Kershaw in dominant form and zeroing in on his 3rd Cy Young, I wonder how many more years of this dominance can the Dodgers expect? In other words, how large is the window of opportunity? Pitchers are the most vulnerable of all to injury. So I say the window is small. That said, Ned’s work this season is his worst yet…and that’s saying something I know we bang on him a lot, but really, with Kershaw in his prime, this bench and bullpen is an embarrassment to a team with title aspirations. The paper this morning quotes Ethier as saying this team, as assembled over the winter, has what it takes to get the job done, that adding new players needn’t have been a priority (Ned obviously agreed). He says it’s on them, the players. Sounds great. OK…go win a world championship. Brian Wilson (the other one) said it best for Ned and Donnie in respect to Kershaw: “God only knows what I’d be without you.”

  35. lbirken says:

As Vin would say, The Joc Pederson Marching and Chowder Society should be honored tonight because Joc is starting tonight in center field.

  36. I feel ~almost~ like I did last year when Puig was put in the lineup. The only difference is I remember what Puig did.

  37. enchantedbeaver says:

That’s one down for Joc and 2999 more to get to the HOF.

  38. trublu4ever says:

    Matt…..WTF!!!

  39. enchantedbeaver says:

You ever see a team that runs into as many outs as we do?

  40. Well it took a while but A-GON knocks in a run and then Gordon scores on a wild throw 2-0 Bums.

  41. enchantedbeaver says:

Any doubt Kersh is the MVP AND Cy Young winner this year?

  42. enchantedbeaver says:

Geez Pederson looks like a baby out there.

  43. enchantedbeaver says:

This club has never been very good with the bases loaded, but this year is beyond belief.

  44. Harper ends the shutout.

  45. Another magnificent performance by Kershaw.

  46. trublu4ever says:

    Way to go Dodgers!

  47. 32and53fan says:

Giants rallied to come from behind and win 12-7.

Dodger4Life, my song is “The Long and Winding Road”… nothing will be easy in September. Even when the Dodgers win, they don’t look like a championship team.

  48. Nice finish for Jansen.

  49. In all the hubbub about Kersh and Pederson, one stat was lost tonight. Bryce Harper is the first left handed batter that has hit a home run against Kersh this year. He also has the only RBI for a LH batter as well.

  50. Dodger4life says:

That was a nice home win the Boy’s displayed last night. I missed most of the game, as I’m still dealing with some side pain [rib contusion], although, with medication now which makes me sleepy. I did see the risky base-running that turned out in our favor due to errors. It was like old times when all I had was Gameday without audio…re-watching the highlights over coffee. Congrat’s to Joc on getting his first major league hit and like enchanted stated… only 2999 more to go ..
    .
It’s a good thing I didn’t make any wagers [I’m not much of a gambler anyhow], as I was incorrect on both guesses.
    .
I think I will be around at high noon for the conclusion of the series today…
    .
And yes, we’re fortunate to have a healthy Kershaw on our side, as he is simply the best…according to many…including, but not limited to Bryce Harper…”He’s the best pitcher in baseball, hands down. … Probably the best curveball I’ve ever seen in my life.” — Harper on Kershaw

  51. crash24now says:

Mattingly rolling the dice with both the lineup and the starting pitcher:

    Gordon 2B
    Puig RF
    Gonzalez 1B
    Ramirez SS
    Crawford LF
    Turner 3B
    Pederson CF
    Federowicz C
    Frias P

  52. crash24now says:

I’m afraid that the September Song will be “Tumbling Dice”, as Donnie rolls the dice and the division title goes down the drain.

    • Dodger4life says:

One thing I could always count on growing up and still to this day, was whenever my mother was in a funk, or just didn’t have any bounce to her day…Were the Rolling Stones…All I had to do was crank up the Ol’ Hi-Fi, to the sounds of Jagger…and before long us kids would go from eating PB&J with Kool-Aid, to a Happy Meal from Mickey D’s for lunch…

      • Dodger4life says:

After the first half of that first game…I was worried the September Song was gonna be a mix of Reggae and Jimmy Buffet tunes…I was definitely humming some Blake Shelton…
        .
He started yelling at me like I did something wrong
He flipped me the bird an’ then he was gone

        Some beach
        Somewhere
        .

  53. koufax1963 says:

Outfield shuffle again. Puig does not hit, puigs sits on bench, Joc gets a hit, So today Puig Gets the nod, Joc stays in, and Kemps gets a “rest”. So how does one of the OFs get hot, because that is the decision I would go with, who is hitting gets to play. Sure Joc should get some playing time. What did puig do to get off the bench? Perhaps Puig will show us something today. If not, then the carousel continues. yes pretty hard to position yourself for success when all you do id PH once a game, and then you play one game then get to sit the next. Hmmm, some OF better show some stuff soon, and consistently because we are going to visit the gnats soon.

  54. As I mentioned above, and I’ll repeat. I don’t think this is a good time to be playing the Giants. I hope they cool down by September the 12th. Wait a minute,,,,, it better happen sooner than that because by that time………Posey is really tearing up the peach patch. I hope somebody stops him.
Sorry, I find it hard to keep my eyes off the scoreboard.

    • Dodger4life says:

It’s rather difficult to avoid the scoreboard this time of year Oldbrooklynfan… Anyone who follows the game, is bound to see it pop up somewhere.

  55. crash24now says:

    Dodgers Record by Starting Pitcher:

When Kershaw starts, we are 19-4
    Ryu: 15-9
    Greinke: 14-13
    Haren: 13-14
Beckett: 9-11 *** out for the season
    Everybody Else: 8-20

What’s that mean for September and October?

    1. Need to line up Kershaw and Ryu (&Greinke) against the Giants.
    2. Don’t be f’ing around in September, we’ve only got a two game lead.
    3. If we slip to Wild Card status, that’s gonna throw off the playoff starting rotation, and we’re screwed.
    4. If we win the division, the playoffs are still gonna be a bitch.

  56. crash24now says:

Frias works himself into and out of trouble in the second.

  57. crash24now says:

Joc has struck out in 60% of his MLB at bats. Small sample size, but just fyi

  58. Unbelievable 6 innings pitched by Frias. I never expected anything like that.

  59. crash24now says:

Congratulations to Carlos Frias for a well pitched game.

  60. Dodger4life says:

Works for my mother…Maybe it’ll help energize the offense…
    .

  61. trublu4ever says:

    YAY, JT!

  62. TURNER clouts a 2 run job.

  63. Dodger4life says:

Ride like the wind at double speed
    .
Turner let’s one ride the wind and plates two…

  64. Adam LaRoche ties it with a 2 run homer.

  65. Dodger4life says:

    Crap!!!

We need to turn the car around, Mom!!!

  66. Span singles in Esponosa to give the Nats the lead 3-2.

  67. messagebear says:

Nice to watch a good team in action for a change.

  68. lbirken says:

So much for the four out save.

  69. enchantedbeaver says:

    Great team. Really championship caliber.

  70. kahliforni says:

Hindsight is 20-20, but I never like to see the closer in the 8th inning. Ever.

  71. griz says:

Sometimes this shit is not to be believed.

  72. crash24now says:

Thanks to Jayson Werth for the gift.

  73. We tie it on a dropped fly (lost in sun) by Jason Werth.

  74. These games are tough on my fingernails! Chewing ’em down to nubs!! And they don’t taste so good, either 😉

  75. lbirken says:

Thank you Jason Werth. Another opportunity for Joc to be a hero and this time he takes one right down the middle.

  76. crash24now says:

Now we’ve got Turner at ss. I remember a game where that didn’t turn out so well.

  77. koufax1963 says:

gnats Lost!, I hope I can say the same in this dodgers game

  78. koufax1963 says:

guess we couldnt of had a pinch runner for ellis, and now our famous bases loaded situation. GO DODGERS!

  79. crash24now says:

Butter ‘n’ Egg man is due…

  80. lbirken says:

Can you believe this? Please, can a Dodger hitter finally drive on a run?

  81. griz says:

Does anyone know a particular reason why there is no pinch runner for AJ?

  82. crash24now says:

    Geeeeezzzzzz!

  83. griz says:

    Clutch.

  84. lbirken says:

Did Donnie make a mistake on not pinch running for Ellis soon enough? We can’t know for sure but still, the inability if this team to drive in runs, especially with the bases loaded, is the more serious issue.

  85. koufax1963 says:

Didnt like Jansen coming in when he did, didnt understand why AJ was not PR’d when he was on 2nd while puig was batting, and I will give credit to Wright, and a big thank you to werth for losing that ball.
but GONZO just couldnt get it out of the infield, that was a surprise.
So are the Dodgers going to try and win despite Donnies weird moves?

  86. I hope they don’t load the bases.

  87. koufax1963 says:

    Nats got the memo.

  88. crash24now says:

    Oh no, bases loaded again……

  89. crash24now says:

    Ughhhhhhhhhh.

  90. I just felt lousey when they intentionally walked Kemp to load the bases. It must be psychological by now.

  91. 32and53fan says:

It seems like the Dodgers are trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

  92. Well, that looks like it.

  93. Dodger4life says:

    UN(FUCKIN’)BELEAGUEABLE

  94. enchantedbeaver says:

Hope somebody puts these jerks out of their misery (and mine) soon. If this game didn’t demonstrate Donnie’s ineptness to a T, nothing will.

  95. Can’t believe it. Now Crawford ties it up again at 5-5.

  96. Dodger4life says:

    UN(FUCKIN’)BELIEVABLE

  97. trublu4ever says:

    HOLY SHIT!

  98. griz says:

UNF****N BELIEVABLE!!! Doesn’t begin to cover it. Is this weird or what?

  99. lbirken says:

Whatever we think about this team, they do make things interesting.

  100. crash24now says:

After all this, we still got a chance to go three games up on the Giants.

  101. griz says:

    Just don’t load the bases.

  102. 32and53fan says:

My cardiovascular system can’t take this kind of stress. Dodgers could have scored many times. Now they just gave up the lead again. This time, I don’t think they will score in the bottom of the inning. I hope I’m wrong.

  103. koufax1963 says:

Crash! you called it about Turner at Shortstop. Wow what agame Dodgers should have won.

  104. enchantedbeaver says:

Got all that they deserved this game. Can’t hit. Can’t pitch. Donnie’s ineptness was vividly on display. . Use up your entire bench. Don’t pinch run for the slowest runner on the team until its too late…

I’m done. Call me when they finally get a real manager and a team that wants to play like winners.

  105. Dodger4life says:

    …Screech!
    .
Mom pulls the car up to the front of Mickey D’s…Kids roll down the window and throw their Happy Meals at the stinking Clown!!!

  106. lbirken says:

Wow, the whole season’s frustrations and shortcomings all in one game.

  107. kahliforni says:

Kevin Kennedy took all of 15 seconds on the post-game wrap-up to second-guess Donnie concerning the bottom of the 11th inning. Luckily, I wasn’t listening to the game at that time. I think Kennedy is right, but you be the judge. Dodgers get the first two runners on with Pederson and Kemp due up. Donnie bunts (Kennedy not happy), Pederson advances runners. OK, first base open, Kemp up with Butura on deck. Gee, what would you do? Same thing Matt Williams did. The rest is history. I know it’s easy to blame the manager for everything…but Donnie is a bit of a dullard. Nice guy, great hitter, but a bit……………………..slow.

    • lbirken says:

I was watching the game at the time of this situation and Vinny said Kemp would be walked if Pederson’s bunt was successful so Donnie had to know that would happen. My guess is he would rather have a veteran player up at bat than an untested rookie, who already had failed at some big at bats. Still, the Dodgers had other chances to win this game and failed at those.

    • 32and53fan32 says:

I’d give Kennedy a chance to manage the club if they fire Matronly. He makes sense on the radio and knows how to handle pitchers. He also wouldn’t take crap from the Dodger Divas.

  108. zonadodger says:

Broken record…RISP..To hard to watch..enough said

  109. griz says:

After yesterdays performance I was ready to make a comment about what a fine collective choke that was and how this team just doesn’t have what it takes to be champions. I’ve thought that for awhile. Although that is what I think and was thoroughly disgusted and disappointed, guess what? The sun came up, you turn the page, blah, blah, blah, and I’m not by any means throwing in the towel. Let us see where we are after the giants series.

  110. JhallWally says:

Wow…. What a game…. I’ve been reading you all and I agree Dildon is a moron (Beav, Bear, Tru, and myself have been saying it for years)… But, this loss goes squarely on Jansen… He flat blew it…. Should have been a win…… Bottom line…. This is not a WS team…. Thanks Ned and Guggs…..

Nice call by Crash when Turner went to Short… Pretty bad sign when the bloggers have more insight than the manager….. Geez!!!!

We’ve got two very capable backup shortstops on the bench – Rojas and Arruebarrena. No reason to play Turner at shortstop. It’s like asking Matt Kemp to play catcher just because he’s good with the bat.

Woke up this AM, with this game still on my mind, and the Gnats fans I work with got a little tickle out of that and they made sure to tell me. Im done with bashing the ownership (guggies, magic, kasten, walter) and NED and Donnie must of conferred as to what the make up of this team would be by the time Australia went live, so they built this team and adjusted to DL concerns all through the season, and did not make big changes by the trade deadline.
So it comes down to performance on the field, so I excuse NED from first pitch on, What I observe is Donnie doesnt really know the limits of his players. Go to the 8th, Wilson gets two outs, I know it was not like he was 1,2, 3 and done, but he struck out the last guy he faced, but then wilson was taken out, with what I view as not a game endangerment situation, why not let wilson finish the 8th or until a run was scored? This is not a Hindsight reply, it is a evaluation of a process to win a game, just like the failure to pinch run for Ellis when he was at 2nd with puig coming up…………
(Wallach: ” Donnie should we PR for Ellis with Puig coming up?”
Donnie: What? (puig hits single), Yikes he didnt score from second, arrubeuna go in and run for ellis”)
Sorry but our top 3 pitchers will not help when it gets to the 8th and 9th to win, it is on these players to meet the challenge, and I must say they really tried yesterday despite our manager not positioning this team to win.

All I can say is I hope Donnie learned a lesson from his mistakes. Especially not pinch running for Ellis. I can’t get over the fact that he didn’t score the winning run and the Dodgers eventually lost the game. We all know that Ellis is slow of foot. This is one game we should have won. If we lose the division by one game, this was the game.

Donnie also said in his post game presser…that there was no-way…he scores from second on that hit. No-way is a bit of a stretch…There was no-way Kershaw the night before is safe going to third…and no-way, Gordon scores from second on a ball hit to the shortstop…

I just wish Mattingly was a better manager, whatever that means… My gut feel says he’s constantly feeling his way to see what works and what doesn’t; he has no resume to know what is a good gamble and what isn’t. Learning on the job ought to take place at AAA.

  114. Dodger4life says:

I read a little story the other day…That had Steve Sax claiming they once held Tommy Lasorda down in the locker room and scribbled on his nuts…[I can only imagine the things Tommy was saying to them as this went about]. Steve added that they loved Tommy and would walk through the gates of hell for him…or something to that effect.

Concerning the Dodgers’ marathon and Mattingly’s questionable moves Wednesday, Plaschke of the L.A. Times ended his column this morning on a nice note:

“There was so much questionable strategy coming from the Dodgers’ dugout late last season that Colletti replaced bench coach Trey Hillman with Tim Wallach. If there’s heat again this fall, expect it to fall squarely on Mattingly.”

    • oldbrooklynfan says:

I usually hardly ever put the blame on the manager but after Wednesday’s game, I’m having second thoughts.
I doubt if this will change anything, So I hope DM knows what his mistakes were and it will help him in the future.
