More Fish to Fry

More Fish to Fry

The Tampa Bay Rays are another team with a better record than the Dodgers. If we are truly a championship team, that will matter little. Just keep the RISP, LOL and BABIP numbers on the good side. And keep Puig from getting too intimate with the walls.

    Yasiel Puig es jodidamente increíble!

  2. trublu4ever says:

    Looking forward to this series.

  3. grizzy says:

Yeah. Keep that kid off the walls. Or increase the padding. That might be more realistic.

  4. trublu4ever says:

Getting nervous…wishing our boys good luck and we do well. With another strange lineup, I hope it pans out.

  5. Hiya Folks
    Here come the Rays.

  6. lbirken says:

Another game after after a long flight and early morning arrival.

    • trublu4ever says:

I’m beginning to think the schedulers hate us.

      • lbirken says:

I am sure every team has the same problem. Probably would have to play more weekday day games or doubleheaders to ease the travel issue but each creates other problems.

        • trublu4ever says:

But, usually on get-away days, they do play day games most of the time. We’ve had several night games.

  7. trublu4ever says:

    Shhheet…I need a drink already!

  8. What’s going on here?

  9. vl4eccjr says:

What was Dildonnie thinking when he made this line up?

  10. vl4eccjr says:

I’m having mixed feelings for Loney.
I’m glad he’s found new life in Tampa & is doing well, but I hate the fact he’s doing damage against us!

  11. Bad play sending Hairston home, he had no chance.

  12. So the game started with a screwed-up lineup, with players out of their normal positions. It seemed to me that there would be a number of fielding adventures, but this is ridiculous. But I must give the devil his due – Price is pitching a hellacious game.

  13. This game seems to be out of reach.

  14. The Mets just tied the D’backs 4-4.

  15. At least we got a run.

  16. The D’backs are most likely watching this game along with the Red Sox.

  17. Let’s see if things change with Jake McGee on the mound.
    Price was just too much.

  18. Good job by Belasario
    Now it’s do or die.

  19. vl4eccjr says:

    WOW!!
    Unbelievable!!

  20. trublu4ever says:

This was by far our most dramatic win of the season!

  21. vl4eccjr says:

    WE KNOW DRAMA!!!

  22. This game reminded me of the last game of the regular season in 1951, that the Dodgers survived and won to play the Giants in that infamous 3 game playoff series.

  23. 32and53fan says:

Serves me right by not being home to watch the game. I heard on the radio that the Dodgers were losing 6-0 in the 6th inning. Then when I got home, the news had a graphic that said 6-3 and I thought that was the final score.
What a surprise to read on OTD that it was an amazing come from behind victory.

  24. JhallWally says:

Woo-Hoo, win streak!! Outstanding and Unbelievable……

I’m not sure what has gotten into this team, but, damn, I like it…

The Blue Kool_Aide is mighty strong right now….

Kudos to the bullpen…. Good grief, our bullpen was pathetic from April to mid June… Now they are lights out…. I would not have guessed nor foreseen such a dramatic turnaround…

This team almost makes having Nedcompoop around bearable…

I did say almost…. He should still be fired..

    • JhallWally says:

I see Loney went 2 for 3 with 2 rbi. Everyone knew he had the talent… Darn shame the Dodger regime at the time could not bring it out… Same with Martin. I guess the mental issues of the McSlime years took more of a toll than we can imagine….

  25. ZonaDodger says:

    Wow what a win….Amazing….Go Blue 🙂

  26. trublu4ever says:

Testing…trying to post from my new phone 😎

  27. lbirken says:

Another win after a long, late flight home. Another win with the “makeshift” ” lineup. Another strong performance from the bullpen. Another come from behind win when it seemed the game was lost. And a reminder why fans should not leave the game early.

  28. Hi OTD
I’m very happy that FOX has our game today on the east coast on Channel 5.
    GO DODGERS!!!!!!!

  29. koufax1963 says:

Help fox is showing the gnats and birds where I am!

  30. Greinke pitched well again, today.
    Let’s J.P.

  31. Like to get some more insurance runs.

  32. Schu is having a great game.

  33. Skippy’s 4 for 4 today.

  34. need 3 more Ray outs.

  35. crash24now says:

The “mighty mites” of 2013 are both doing really well. Punto and Schumaker are a step up from Jamey Carroll and Aaron Miles.

  36. Nice game – good win.

  37. A fantastic outing by Chris Withrow.

  38. lbirken says:

    I smell fried fish.

  39. crash24now says:

    Dodgers keep on rollin’.

  40. trublu4ever says:

Way to go …… let’s do it again tomorrow!

  41. vl4eccjr says:

33-25 on the road & 33-25 at home.
    I would have never guessed!

  42. ZonaDodger says:

    Outstanding win today boys

  43. I just watched the entire Mets/D’backs game and the Mets won.
Yes 6 1/2 game lead at the moment.

    • lbirken says:

      Not big enough.

      • trublu4ever says:

Tomorrow it will be 7 1/2.

        • JhallWally says:

🙂 They need to get Kersh a couple of early runs for a change… Geez!! With any kind of offensive backing, Kersh would have 15-16 wins….

          • trublu4ever says:

I know…poor Kersh! Kind of like we did when Kuroda was with us. Today will be the day….unless, of course, Donnie plays his typical Sunday lineup.

          • JhallWally says:

Leave it to Dildon. Kersh deserves much better…. You’re right, Kuroda was the hard luck guy when he was here… We should have kept him… Another Nedcompoop mistake….

          • trublu4ever says:

Kuroda wouldn’t have even cost us much money either…he wasn’t asking an arm and a leg. Oh, well, that’s water under the bridge….I like our team…I like how much fun they are having …. I love the way we never give up…..I would also love for Donnie & Ned to be gone 😉

          • JhallWally says:

LMAO…. I too would like to see Nedcompoop and Dildon go away… It was ludicrous to let Kuroda go and especially for the amount of money he was asking… Ned is a joke…

  44. Nellyjune says:

Boy! The Dodgers have been looking pretty good! I hope you all are doing well.

    • JhallWally says:

      Woo-Hoo, win streak!!!

Good to see you Nelly. Going well out here, hope you are well and happy. Back in May I would never have guessed this team would be performing at this level… It is amazing….. If they can stay healthy, they have a great shot at a WS title with Kersh and Greinke…… Still, a lot of baseball thru the dog days… Right now, I like our chances….

  45. grizzy says:

Can you imagine the rotation if we still had Kuroda? I agree 100% we should have kept him, but I can also see the reasoning Ned used, given the team’s condition AT THAT TIME. Anyway the Dodgers a rolling now, even with our SS and CF on the bench. Lot of ball left to play, and I also like our chances.

  46. koufax1963 says:

Having the dodgers on the national TV broadcast with Kershaw pitching I do trust the dodgers sweep and show the east coast what magic their is in the west, besides Disneyland

  47. lbirken says:

I think Karoda gave mixed messages to the Dodgers. He would not accept a trade but he seemed torn between returning to Japan or staying in the U.S. following his last season with L.A. The Dodgers knew this and tried to get some value for him. Hindsight tells us it might not have taken all that much to sign him but who knew for sure what Hiroki’ s mindset was.

As for the lineup, it does not seem to matter much who is playing or where. The team just finds away to win.

    • I agree and it seemed more certain at the time that Kuroda was going back to Japan but everytime Kuroda pitchers and I follow him every day in my daily newspapers, It’s hard to believe he never left and is pitching for the Yankees.
Well, at the moment, it’s good the way things are, otherwise it wouldn’t look right.

  48. 7 UP Mets beat the D’backs.’

  49. Hi
    Enjoy the game tonight.

  50. lbirken says:

Unlike the past few seasons the Dodgers have doe well this season on national all TV games. Hopefully this trend will continue tonight. Of course, this means the Dodgers will need to get Kershaw better run support.

  51. lbirken says:

Clayton provides his own run support.

  52. I thought that double by M. Ellis would clear the fence.

  53. enchantedbeaver says:

You know, I’d love to see Gordon’s speed in the game on a regular basis, but the guy just can’t field and throw. Might be time to find him another organization and maybe they can teach him something about the glove.

    • trublu4ever says:

      I agree…I’ve always said I’m not a fan.

      • enchantedbeaver says:

Yup, just too big of a defensive liability out in the field to make up for it with speed alone. I’ve been hoping he’d get over that hump, but it looks like he never will.

      • lbirken says:

I recall a lot of hope when Gordon first came up because the Dodgers needed a lead off hitter. He hit well in the minors and his speed was well known. Unfortunately, he did not hit very well and then got hurt. With Hanley hurt Gordon will get another chance to provide be belongs at the major league level.

  54. lbirken says:

Maybe it was Wallach that kept Puig at third in the wild pitch but a few weeks ago he probably tries to score. Smart play to stay at third with the entire infield charging the plate.

  55. trublu4ever says:

    Woo-hoo…more runs…I like it!

  56. lbirken says:

Kershaw has some run support tonight but needs to pitch as if he doesn’t. Just ask the Rays about their supposedly insurmountable lead Friday night.

  57. lbirken says:

Now we know the play when Puig did not try to score on the wild pitch was supposed to be a squeeze play.

  58. enchantedbeaver says:

    Unbelievable.

  59. Two errors by Dee tonight – no es bueno.

  60. trublu4ever says:

    Way to go Mark!

  61. This time it’s out of here.

  62. nedisajerk says:

I wouldn’t mind seeing Kershaw finish this game off.

  63. Damn, another error by Dee. Does he plan to make all 50 tonight?

  64. trublu4ever says:

Geez…get Dee out of here! Nick is so much better!

  65. enchantedbeaver says:

    Nothing fazes Kersh though.

  66. trublu4ever says:

Great…Marmol is coming in next….wonder how many runs he will give them?! Wish they would send him and Gordon away!

  67. OMG!! He got the side out in order!!!

  68. ZonaDodger says:

Nice win boys….Surprise Marmol nice work

  69. trublu4ever says:

    WOW…AWESOME JOB BOYS….SWEEPING A VERY GOOD TEAM!

    • JhallWally says:

Wooo-Hoo, win streak!!! Kersh is awesome…..

Gonzales is definately the teams MVP this year…

And, If I never see Dee Gordon again, it will be too soon.. He sucks….. It is time to demote him, trade him and move on….
Hell, he makes Juanpy look good…. Geez!!!!

      • trublu4ever says:

Kersh was not too pleased either! 😉

        • JhallWally says:

I’m sure he was not thrilled…. But he buckled down and pitched thru it like a true ace and great pitcher…. However, if Gordon is allowed to do that with lesser pitchers on the mound, the outcome will not be to our liking… Punto can play short, we don’t need Dee….. I’ve seen enough… Get him out of here….

  70. lbirken says:

    I smell burnt fish.

  71. Good things happen when Kersh gets run support.

  72. messagebear says:

I’ve thought that Gordon was overrated for several years now, Speed alone won’t do anything for you when you can’t hit or field,
The guy doesn’t have any potential to improve. Why can’t somebody in management recognize that and deal with it? Get rid of the little punk!

  73. enchantedbeaver says:

I remember Bill Russell as making a bunch of errors every season so I went back and looked. Starting from ’72 and through ’79 he made 34, 31, 39, 11 (injured), 28, 29, 31, 30. His career fielding pct at SS was .960.

    Dee is “fielding” at .936. He’s a career .947.

Russell wasn’t good, but Dee’s making him look like Ozzie Smith.

  74. crash24now says:

Before tonight’s game, the Dodgers should move Gordon down and bring up Justin Sellers. Then let Punto start every game until Hanley is back. Sellers can be the backup.

  75. koufax1963 says:

Dodgers still have a problem at SS and 3rd. Hanram is not real slick in the field. Uribe is hot and cold. Keep punto and not sure where Gordon fits on the bench. I’m sure these will be adressed during the winter meetings. Can’t say that m Ellis will deliver like he has this year but I would take my chances with him over Gordon. Anyway great sweep and I got to see it played out Sunday, and the gnat fans around me are saying, “I don’t think the dodgers are slowing down”; real quiet are they!

    • enchantedbeaver says:

I’d like to see them resign MEllis after this season as perhaps a super sub. He can’t go everyday anymore, and I’ve got to think there’s a better everyday out there to replace him. If not though, since he’s right and Dee’s left, and Dee has played some 2B, can anyone see this as a platoon next year?

Hairston and Uribe won’t be back. Punto and Schu may or not be back, so there are some roster spots opening up that Kasten may want to fill from in house. Gordon’s cheap and technically can play SS/2B/corner OF. They don’t deal him this winter, for better or worse I can see this happening.

  76. messagebear says:

As long as Hanley keeps hitting I’m not going to complain about his fielding – maybe that’s why Donnie lets us get a look at Gordon in the field. Like, things could always be worse.
