Will Marmol ever be effective again?
His best season as a closer came in 2010, when he had 38 saves, a 2.55 ERA and 138 strikeouts in 77 2/3 innings.

  2. trublu4ever says:

I put one up at the same time….can you remove it for me…sorry, I didn’t see yours.

  3. From what I’ve read as far as trades go of Ned’s, this one is pretty much a no lose situation unless they just hand over a spot on the roster to Marmol, We got rid of someone that we definitely didn’t want or need, they somehow gain another $200K + towards their international slot money, and we get a guy that if someone can fix him would probably be a pretty decent guy to have in the pen.

He’s going straight to AZ, which at least indicates that someone recognizes he actually DOES need fixing.

  4. Thank Tru
    I would’ve never knew.

  5. Nice going Kemp with that run scoring ground out to put the Dodgers up by 1.

  6. A-GON after Puigs double.

  7. trublu4ever says:

    WOW….4-0!

  8. Uribe makes it 5-0.

  9. trublu4ever says:

Wow….Homer Bailey just threw a no-hitter against the Giants!

  10. WoooooHH I wish I could explain how I feel about Puigs HR.

  11. The Mets are winning 7-1 in the bottom of the 7th.

  12. I need to get Kemp going.

    KEMP SUCKS!!!

    • trublu4ever says:

I hope it works because I’m beginning to worry about him.

    • 32and53fan says:

Three strikeouts is not a good sign. I hope he can get his swagger back (and deserve to have it.)

    • messagebear says:

      Yes, KEMP SUCKS!
And, he’s no leader – the clubhouse would be better without him.
I’d rather we traded Kemp than Ethier.

  13. Kemp hit that ball well but it just wasn’t in the cards.

  14. trublu4ever says:

Kersh was on his game tonight…lots of runs scored…it’s truly a bluetiful thing.

  15. Were just broke out of last place. Yeeeeaaaay

  16. Nice to be out of that stinky basement. Let the Gnats have a long whiff of it.

  17. Kersh was great tonight. The team actually scored for him and he didn’t have to pitch perfectly just to keep us in the game. You could tell by his body English that he was the most relaxed he’s been on the mound in a long time. Altogether, a very good game. And we’re out of the cellar, too!! 🙂

  18. Dodger4life says:

I’ve been a little busy since being in the Seattle area. I swear when I looked away though, the Boys were 9 1/2 games back.

    WOW!

    • nedisajerk says:

This is a tragic shame, not only for Brian Runge personally, but also given the Runge family’s history in MLB. His dad, Paul Runge, was a National League umpire from 1973 to 1997 who worked four World Series before becoming the NL’s executive director of umpires. Grandfather Ed Runge umpired from 1954 to 1970 and worked three World Series.

  19. kahliforni says:

Looking at the standings, it is, indeed, the Mild, Mild West.

  20. 32and53fan says:

One rock busted! Two to go.

  21. JhallWally says:

Woo-Hoo, we’re not in last place…. Way to go Kersh, Puig, and Agon……… This team is starting to get exciting again. Especially in an easily winnable division..

  22. trublu4ever says:

As per Peter Gammons…..Marmol DFAd 😉

  23. crash24now says:

It’s time to change our focus. We are not only no longer in last place, we are only 2 1/2 games out of first place.

Outside of the Puds, we control our own destiny from here to the All-Star game. We could be in first place (or tied for first place) very soon, as long as we keep on winning.

With Puig, we can get there (with a little help from Kershaw, Hanley, etc.).

  24. trublu4ever says:

Puig was named NL Player of the Month….yay!

  25. Dodger4life says:

A big shout out to ya’ if you hit .450 for a month, in organized ball anywhere? College, High School, American Legion, Little League…

    I know, I didn’t!!

Prop’s to Mr. Puig for doing so, on his entry to the Major Leagues.

Keep the Fire Burning!! Go Dodgers!!

  26. The really big news of yesterday though was that Belisario changed his number to 54.

  27. trublu4ever says:

Luis Cruz is a Yankee…in the lineup tonight.

    • messagebear says:

Did we get anything for Cruz?
At least like a couple of Nathan’s hot dogs?

Of course, the supreme irony would be if Cruz starts hitting like he did for us a year ago. It wouldn’t surprise me any, because our whole coaching staff is still a bunch of nincompoops (poops for short). They obviously didn’t have a thing to do with Puig’s success, and I hope they all stay away from him for good.

      • I think when Cruz refused to go back down to Albuquerque that it basically voided his contract and the only thing the team gets is the savings in salary.

Doubt Cruz does a whole lot with the Yanks, maybe hit the Mendoza line if he’s lucky. He is after all a journeyman minor leaguer.

    • My daughter Claudine and I will be at Sunday’s game this Sunday, at Yankee Stadium. I’m looking forward to seeing Luis Cruuuuuuz. I’ll continue to follow his career everyday in the newspapers.

  28. This Marmol thing HAS to be a Kasten deal. Ned’s not that smart. Of particular interest is the last paragraph:
    http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/story/_/id/9448600/los-angeles-dodgers-place-carlos-marmol-outright-waivers-hope-send-minors-according-sources

So in a nutshell, we got int’l. cap space, the remainder of Guerrier’s contract paid by the Cubs, $2M of Marmol’s contact paid by the Cubs, AND if Marmol can’t make it to the Dodgers, gets released and picked up by another club, the Cubs pay us even more of his salary.

The Cubs must have really wanted to be rid of the guy.

  29. trublu4ever says:

I’m in shock…Donnie is using the same lineup 2 days in a row!

  30. trublu4ever says:

    Wow….Puig can fly!

  31. I got the game on late and I don’t have gameday.

  32. I don’t have the “Classic” version of gameday but I’m getting the Rockies batter to batter.

  33. Does anyone know how M. Ellis and Puig did in the top of the first.
    I saw Puig score.

  34. I found Gamedaymini.

  35. oldbrooklynfan says:

Greinke doesn’t look to good but had a good 3rd inning.

  36. vl4eccjr says:

I sure hope Greinke settles down, and starts throwing strikes.
Good thing Kersh gave the bullpen last night off. . .

    • trublu4ever says:

The home plate umpire isn’t helping…even their announcers have questioned his balls & strikes.

  37. Uribe!! Tied up ball game!!!

  38. oldbrooklynfan says:

    U R I B E

  39. trublu4ever says:

    This is the “New Blue”!

  40. oldbrooklynfan says:

    M A R K

  41. vl4eccjr says:

I’m loving the way this team is playing now with more guys contributing on offense. Matt is just making loud outs while the others are heating up. 😦

  42. As we can see this team is different now.

  43. trublu4ever says:

    Even, Zack settled down…nice!

  44. trublu4ever says:

    Love it!

  45. Oh oh! Hope Puig’s ok!!!

  46. This is a fighting team,

  47. Greinke is grinding it out.

  48. We’ll see about Puig.

  49. That’s what kind of double you get when things are going our way.

  50. Why is Puig out? Or is it just a case of Donnie being Donnie?

    • trublu4ever says:

He did hit the wall pretty hard…took an at-bat and came out of game at the end of the inning…I’m thinking precaution.

  51. Stupid time and place to bring in a raw rookie. Typical Donnie. Ump’s also squeezing the hell out of the kid.

  52. Man this is a tough game.

  53. trublu4ever says:

    I See You…homer!

  54. vl4eccjr says:

Thank you Hanley for the insurance!

  55. vl4eccjr says:

    WTG Matt!

  56. This team might be unstoppable if Matt can find his stroke

  57. trublu4ever says:

Puig…left hip bruise…x-rays negative…day to day..which means he will play tomorrow!

  58. A coupler HRs here by HANLEY & KEMP may save the day.

  59. Let’s Go Kenley.

  60. What the hell is this ump’s strike zone??

  61. trublu4ever says:

    YES! WAY TO GO BOYS!

  62. vl4eccjr says:

Whew! Those insurance runs sure helped!

  63. May not gain on AZ, but it digs the Gnats a little deeper.

  64. trublu4ever says:

    Dodgers win…Giants lose….Bluetiful!

  65. There’s no doubt in my mind that the Dodgers are back in the competiton. This team is going to fight tooth and nail from now on.

  66. lbirken says:

Wow, an old fashion Coors Field game where no lead is safe until the last out. Glad it was the Dodgers on the plus side tonight. Hard to believe the Dodgers have made up so much ground as quickly as they have but such is the NL West.

Do you think the Dodgers might want to make a claim against the Coors Field outfield wall for assault and battery? That place is dangerous!

  67. trublu4ever says:

I’m glad we won the first two…with Cappy going tomorrow, I am concerned….concerned, hell, I’m petrified!

  68. crash24now says:

    Second place, baby!!!!!!!

The most exciting parts of tonight’s game were the homers by Uribe and Kemp. Everybody participated in the offense tonight. With Kemp and Uribe getting hot, we’ve got an unstoppable lineup from 1-8. Geez, we got enough legitimate hitters to have a true DH.

Puig will be back tomorrow. You can’t keep a good man down.

  69. Happy 4th Everybody.

  70. trublu4ever says:

    Yes….Happy 4th of July.

  71. Wishing everyone a very happy 4th! Thinking of and thanking each and every service man and woman for their sacrifices. God bless you all.

  72. trublu4ever says:

I see Cappy is crappy once again!

  73. vl4eccjr says:

    Happy Independence Day!
Looks like we’re going to have Crappyguano tonight. . .

  74. vl4eccjr says:

Ruh roh! Going from Crappyguano to League!!
This could go from bad to worse really quick. . .

    • trublu4ever says:

….and, it did! Wouldn’t mind at all if I never see Cappy, Lilly and League again!

      • vl4eccjr says:

I wish they’d get rid of his worthless ass!
I’d kick him to the curb, and send him home on the bus!

  75. This game has turned decidedly ugly.

  76. Nice dynamic duo of Ned’s – Cupaguano & League.

Sherrill, Guerrier, League – Can Ned pick ’em or what? Probably lucky Sherrill had a year of arbitration left or we’d have had him for 3 years too. If money is no object to Guggenheim, then cut your losses and DFA League now. Gawd Marmol underhanding would be better than this loser.

  77. vl4eccjr says:

    Withrow did just fine.

  78. Kersh, Greinke, Ryu and Fife have demonstrated the importance of having a #1 thru #4 starter. Cupaguano, Lilly and Beckett have demonstrated the importance to have at least a league average #5.

  79. vl4eccjr says:

Oh well. Can’t win them all. As long as they keep winning series, they’ll be fine.
    Off to the gay bay!

  80. crash24now says:

Thanks, League, for putting this game out of reach.
