Will Marmol ever be effective again?
His best season as a closer came in 2010, when he had 38 saves, a 2.55 ERA and 138 strikeouts in 77 2/3 innings.
I put one up at the same time….can you remove it for me…sorry, I didn’t see yours.
Never mind…we can just post on this one and ignore mine 😉
From what I’ve read as far as trades go of Ned’s, this one is pretty much a no lose situation unless they just hand over a spot on the roster to Marmol, We got rid of someone that we definitely didn’t want or need, they somehow gain another $200K + towards their international slot money, and we get a guy that if someone can fix him would probably be a pretty decent guy to have in the pen.
He’s going straight to AZ, which at least indicates that someone recognizes he actually DOES need fixing.
Can we send League to AZ too?
Don’t bother to send Ned to AZ, he’s beyond fixing.
The trouble with League is, he never was any good.
Did anyone read about this?

A really amazing story. Thanks Shad.
It sure is….I saw it earlier this morning,
Thank Tru
I would’ve never knew.
🙂
Nice going Kemp with that run scoring ground out to put the Dodgers up by 1.
Atta way Uribe.
A-GON after Puigs double.
WOW….4-0!
Uribe makes it 5-0.
Wow….Homer Bailey just threw a no-hitter against the Giants!
Congratulations to him, it was his second.
He only gave up a leadoff walk in the 7th to Blanco. They only had 27,509 to see his 2nd no hitters in 10 months.
May have to watch out now. That may mean they’ve hit bottom.
Figuratively and literally after tonight.
WoooooHH I wish I could explain how I feel about Puigs HR.
The Mets are winning 7-1 in the bottom of the 7th.
I need to get Kemp going.
KEMP SUCKS!!!
I hope it works because I’m beginning to worry about him.
Three strikeouts is not a good sign. I hope he can get his swagger back (and deserve to have it.)
Kemp hit that ball well but it just wasn’t in the cards.
Kersh was on his game tonight…lots of runs scored…it’s truly a bluetiful thing.
Were just broke out of last place. Yeeeeaaaay
Nice to be out of that stinky basement. Let the Gnats have a long whiff of it.
They’re in a tail spin right now. . .
🙂 Totally…
Kersh was great tonight. The team actually scored for him and he didn’t have to pitch perfectly just to keep us in the game. You could tell by his body English that he was the most relaxed he’s been on the mound in a long time. Altogether, a very good game. And we’re out of the cellar, too!! 🙂
I’ve been a little busy since being in the Seattle area. I swear when I looked away though, the Boys were 9 1/2 games back.
WOW!
Umpire Brian Runge reportedly fired for drugs by MLB
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/umpire-brian-runge-reportedly-fired-drugs-mlb-003433422.html
This is a tragic shame, not only for Brian Runge personally, but also given the Runge family’s history in MLB. His dad, Paul Runge, was a National League umpire from 1973 to 1997 who worked four World Series before becoming the NL’s executive director of umpires. Grandfather Ed Runge umpired from 1954 to 1970 and worked three World Series.
Unbelievable, it’s a shame.
Looking at the standings, it is, indeed, the Mild, Mild West.
One rock busted! Two to go.
Woo-Hoo, we’re not in last place…. Way to go Kersh, Puig, and Agon……… This team is starting to get exciting again. Especially in an easily winnable division..
As per Peter Gammons…..Marmol DFAd 😉
I guess his assignment was to pitch for the Dodgers.
Sorry I didn’t comprehend that. Colletti DFAed Marmol after he aguired him from the Cubs. To me this looks like an excellent move by Ned adding everything else he aquired.
Apparently all Colletti wanted was the International $$$$.
Looks like Ned has to DFA Marmol in order to send Marmol to the minors “to fix him”.
It’s time to change our focus. We are not only no longer in last place, we are only 2 1/2 games out of first place.
Outside of the Puds, we control our own destiny from here to the All-Star game. We could be in first place (or tied for first place) very soon, as long as we keep on winning.
With Puig, we can get there (with a little help from Kershaw, Hanley, etc.).
Puig was named NL Player of the Month….yay!
….and, Rookie of the Month too!
Well deserved honor.
A big shout out to ya’ if you hit .450 for a month, in organized ball anywhere? College, High School, American Legion, Little League…
I know, I didn’t!!
Prop’s to Mr. Puig for doing so, on his entry to the Major Leagues.
Keep the Fire Burning!! Go Dodgers!!
The really big news of yesterday though was that Belisario changed his number to 54.
Luis Cruz is a Yankee…in the lineup tonight.
My daughter Claudine and I will be at Sunday’s game this Sunday, at Yankee Stadium. I’m looking forward to seeing Luis Cruuuuuuz. I’ll continue to follow his career everyday in the newspapers.
This Marmol thing HAS to be a Kasten deal. Ned’s not that smart. Of particular interest is the last paragraph:
http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/story/_/id/9448600/los-angeles-dodgers-place-carlos-marmol-outright-waivers-hope-send-minors-according-sources
So in a nutshell, we got int’l. cap space, the remainder of Guerrier’s contract paid by the Cubs, $2M of Marmol’s contact paid by the Cubs, AND if Marmol can’t make it to the Dodgers, gets released and picked up by another club, the Cubs pay us even more of his salary.
The Cubs must have really wanted to be rid of the guy.
I’m in shock…Donnie is using the same lineup 2 days in a row!
Where do you see the lineup?
On this page in the twitter feeds.
Thank You
But there’s no Rockies lineup.
Wow….Puig can fly!
I got the game on late and I don’t have gameday.
I don’t have the “Classic” version of gameday but I’m getting the Rockies batter to batter.
Does anyone know how M. Ellis and Puig did in the top of the first.
I saw Puig score.
Puig doubled…and, scored on throwing error to first. Hanley & Dre got hits but, Matt left them on 2nd & 3rd.
THANKS. How did Mark Ellis make out?, if you know.
Nevermind Thanks alot.
I think fly ball to center.
I found Gamedaymini.
Greinke doesn’t look to good but had a good 3rd inning.
I sure hope Greinke settles down, and starts throwing strikes.
Good thing Kersh gave the bullpen last night off. . .
The home plate umpire isn’t helping…even their announcers have questioned his balls & strikes.
Uribe!! Tied up ball game!!!
U R I B E
This is the “New Blue”!
I guess so, Tru!
M A R K
I’m loving the way this team is playing now with more guys contributing on offense. Matt is just making loud outs while the others are heating up. 😦
As we can see this team is different now.
Even, Zack settled down…nice!
A-GON #12
Love it!
Oh oh! Hope Puig’s ok!!!
One tough kid!
We can’t lose him now.
This is a fighting team,
Greinke is grinding it out.
We’ll see about Puig.
The Padres lost.
That’s what kind of double you get when things are going our way.
Why is Puig out? Or is it just a case of Donnie being Donnie?
He did hit the wall pretty hard…took an at-bat and came out of game at the end of the inning…I’m thinking precaution.
Stupid time and place to bring in a raw rookie. Typical Donnie. Ump’s also squeezing the hell out of the kid.
He’s been squeezing all night…Zack got nothing from him either.
Man this is a tough game.
I See You…homer!
Thank you Hanley for the insurance!
WTG Matt!
This team might be unstoppable if Matt can find his stroke
Puig…left hip bruise…x-rays negative…day to day..which means he will play tomorrow!
A coupler HRs here by HANLEY & KEMP may save the day.
Let’s Go Kenley.
What the hell is this ump’s strike zone??
4 right over the heart of the plate.
I told you earlier…he doesn’t have one!
YES! WAY TO GO BOYS!
Whew! Those insurance runs sure helped!
May not gain on AZ, but it digs the Gnats a little deeper.
Dodgers win…Giants lose….Bluetiful!
😉
Schadenfruede?
There’s no doubt in my mind that the Dodgers are back in the competiton. This team is going to fight tooth and nail from now on.
Just 3 games below the .500 mark.
Wow, an old fashion Coors Field game where no lead is safe until the last out. Glad it was the Dodgers on the plus side tonight. Hard to believe the Dodgers have made up so much ground as quickly as they have but such is the NL West.
Do you think the Dodgers might want to make a claim against the Coors Field outfield wall for assault and battery? That place is dangerous!
I wonder if there was any damage to the wall. (ha)
I’m glad we won the first two…with Cappy going tomorrow, I am concerned….concerned, hell, I’m petrified!
Second place, baby!!!!!!!
The most exciting parts of tonight’s game were the homers by Uribe and Kemp. Everybody participated in the offense tonight. With Kemp and Uribe getting hot, we’ve got an unstoppable lineup from 1-8. Geez, we got enough legitimate hitters to have a true DH.
Puig will be back tomorrow. You can’t keep a good man down.
We have to have different guys hitting well everynight. One picking up the other. Every night a different hero. That’s how winning teams do it.
Man, I hurts more to lose when your winning, doesn’t it?
I should say the thought of losing is more scarier now that we’re winning. Isn’t it?
Happy 4th Everybody.
Yes….Happy 4th of July.
Wishing everyone a very happy 4th! Thinking of and thanking each and every service man and woman for their sacrifices. God bless you all.
I see Cappy is crappy once again!
Happy Independence Day!
Looks like we’re going to have Crappyguano tonight. . .
Kemp baby!
Cupaguano
Ruh roh! Going from Crappyguano to League!!
This could go from bad to worse really quick. . .
….and, it did! Wouldn’t mind at all if I never see Cappy, Lilly and League again!
I wish they’d get rid of his worthless ass!
I’d kick him to the curb, and send him home on the bus!
This game has turned decidedly ugly.
Nice dynamic duo of Ned’s – Cupaguano & League.
Sherrill, Guerrier, League – Can Ned pick ’em or what? Probably lucky Sherrill had a year of arbitration left or we’d have had him for 3 years too. If money is no object to Guggenheim, then cut your losses and DFA League now. Gawd Marmol underhanding would be better than this loser.
Withrow did just fine.
Kersh, Greinke, Ryu and Fife have demonstrated the importance of having a #1 thru #4 starter. Cupaguano, Lilly and Beckett have demonstrated the importance to have at least a league average #5.
Oh well. Can’t win them all. As long as they keep winning series, they’ll be fine.
Off to the gay bay!
Thanks, League, for putting this game out of reach.
