I’m going for the Orioles or Tigers.
I kind of like the A’s being in this but, they are still bay area!
The Braves are really playing crappy.
Boy, are they ever!
Kemp’s surgery:
“During the 60-minute procedure at the Kerlan-Jobe Clinic in Los Angeles, Dr. Neal ElAttrache repaired a tear of the labrum in Kemp’s shoulder and some minor damage to the rotator cuff, the team said. Kemp will begin physical therapy in a week-to-10 days and is expected to start swinging a bat in early January.”
Good news, Kahli.
Boy, the umpires really blew that call!
That was a terrible call.
The infield fly rule is to protect the runners, not help the fielders.
Exactly!
Let’s go Braves!!!!!
Did I ever tell you I hate the Cruds because of their post season record?
I do too!
Braves playing this game under protest….seems to me, Selig, who should be watching, should rule immediately.
….there is a huge difference between bases loaded and one out and two on, two out!
There are two reps from MLB in-house – they should be able to make the judgment call. Unfortunately, one of them is Joe Torre. ‘Nuff said?
They already ruled against the Braves. Sucks!
Precisely why I don’t like the wild card, let alone the gimmick second one. St. Louis didn’t deserve to be playing anymore than we did, or Atlanta for that matter. Either you win your division or you go home. Otherwise, what’s the point of playing 162 games?
…to make matters worse, the Cards get the first two games at home….so much for winning your division!
If Bud Selig is involved in something, you can be sure it’s broken from its inception.
Enchantedbeaver
BUT, you have to have 4 teams and there’s only 3 divisions. The original plan was to get the 4 best teams to play. Now I guess the 5th best team gets a shot.
See my reply below.
Disregard this, my reply is right upbove.
Could play elimination like they do in college, but as much as I’d be against expansion, 2 more teams would take care of that issue. Then you can have 4 divisions in each league. Makes absolutely no sense having 5 teams the way they’ve got it now. What I hate about the 1st wild card spot is that its usually the team playing the hottest baseball at the end of the year. Anyone then can be on a roll and go all the way. That to me isn’t fair to the other teams that were good and/or persevered over 162 games.
The Rangers/Orioles game is boring!
It’s a pretty close match.
It looks like it’s the Orioles.
I can’t help but think that the Rangers collapse the past week or so is definitely contributing to their losing tonight. They look really flat!
Happy for the Orioles – they’ve not been in the post season for quite a while.
Looks like the O’s spared the Rangers of losing yet another WS.
Well that’s it.
I’m not a very devout person but: Dear God, please eliminate the Giants from the playoffs….I will be very grateful for this good deed…Amen.
I think it is fair to question the whole wild card idea in the first place. We all know the reason for creating the wild card in the first place: to keep teams and fans involved as long as possible. We have come a long way since there were only 16 teams in both leagues. Now more teams have a chance to reach the playoffs and it never really mattered who was good during the regular season but who was good during post season.
I do have an issue with the one game play-in. I think that was my problem with the whole race for the wild card spot down the stretch. I do think winning the division should mean something so having two wild card teams play a 3 game series to determine who gets into the next round might be worth discussing. I would even say it is o.k. to play all three games in one place. The real problem is the season itself is just too long but i don’t see any changes to that anytime soon.
I felt the same way lbirken. I thought if they are going to go through the effort of having a wild card playoff, why not make it a 3 game series and home field goes to the team with the better record. Play it like you would any regular season series. It would have just taken the weekend, with the division series starting on Tuesday. Atlanta kind of got screwed out of that game last night.
Tigers win game one…yay!
The best thing about the Giants’ series is the fact I don’t have to listen to Krud & Krap!
Damn…no luck, Cueto gets hurt first inning!
They say he’ll be ready for game 3.
Sorry Folks I was looking at the wrong thread.
Let’s Go Reds.
Hafta hold these Giants down.
Yes…please, please, please!
Ludwick reminded me of myself many years ago, with that catch.(haha)
The one he just made now not the first one last inning.
( 🙂 )
This game is in SF. Urgh they doing the basketball format in the final. I was wondering why the Giants have the 1st 2 games in SF?
Nice tosee that Broxton still sucks! Whew!
LET’S GO BROX.
YES.
Way to go Brox!!!! ……uh sorry, wrong team 🙂 Kind of ironic if you think about it. I know he had his issues, but I liked him. I’m happy for him he got his head straight and had a great season.
I almost felt that he was pitching for us.(the Dodgers)
In a sence….He was.
Nice hit for EX Paul.
Let’s Go Reds Pile it on.
Insurance!
YES 5-1 CINCY.
COM’ON CHAPMAN.
Let’s shut it down Chapman.
I hope Dusty told him something good.
NICE CATCH.
DAMN
Good grief!
YES…FINALLY!
W H E W!!!!!!!!!
Go to see the Giants lose.
I mean GOOD.
I never understand why closer suck in non save situation.
WOOOO HOOOO!!! WAY TO GO REDS!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU……THANK YOU!!! I couldn’t say it that loud in my house without evil stares. I hope you all had a fabulous day!
Come on Fister, make your hometown proud….GO TIGERS!!!!
Actually it doesn’t matter to me who the A.L. winner is but I do have the Tigers in a forum pool to win the pennant.
I’ll watch this last inning than I have to leave and don’t know when I’ll be back tonight.
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!
Nats just scored. Kasten’s legacy is showing in the team he helped put together in Washington.
I am using the MLB.12 app on an Android tablet, in quad mode, to look at the Cards/Nats game. I guess it works the same way using MLB.TV on a computer. I normally have only seen the camera selected by the show director. It is interesting to see what the camera operators are doing before their cameras are selected. A lot of fast pans, zooms and focusing while they are searching for the best shot. Next year, I would like one of the Dodgers pregame shows to feature a game director and show what a high pressure job it is to coordinate all the cameras while also listening for Vin Scully’s “suggestions” to show a particular person, on or off the field.
Two wins I was hoping for….two more to go……GO ORIOLES & GO REDS!!!!!!!!!
I’m back.
Watched the Nats/Cards from about six inning on at a friends house after having Brunch at the “Brooklyn Eagle’ a local eatery with my daughter, needless to say I was happy with the outcome of the game.
Here we go again.
Ludwick draws first blood GO REDS!!!
Very nice!
Atta way Rolen.
Another run….the more the better Reds!
Yes…..two more!
H A N I G A N ..WTG.
I know it’s early, but the gnats aren’t looking so good tonight either.
I love it 🙂
And Arroyo’s looking good.
You wouldn’t know the Giants are trailing by 4 runs listening to the crowd.
They are idiots! Don’t know what is going on!!!!
Hahaha
Yes….6-0!
Nice lead.
The Reds are really piling it on.
So glad! I really hate the Giants!
You may have mentioned that a time or two 🙂 And ya know what – so do I!
WOOOO HOOOO!!!! WAY TO GO REDS!! THE GIANTS SUCK!!! There……. much better 🙂
Game over….now on to my regularly scheduled programming.
It’s great to see the Giants down 0-2, going to Cincy
I hope the Nats can do the same to the Cards.
Y E S.
Me too 🙂
I’m ready for Nats & Cards.
GO NATS!!!!!
Me too….Go Nats!
The Cards have one of, if not the best postseason record of any N.L. team and I wouldn’t want it to get any better.
It’s good to see the Nats jump out in front and Garcia is having trouble settling down.
I hope it’s not all downhill in the shade for the Cruds from here.
I’m glad this series switches to Washington for the next three games.
The Cards are piling on this game…hopefully this will be their only win.
I’m hoping the atmosphere will change when they get to Washington.
It will. The Cards & Giants will be eliminated!
Who does Harper think he is? Mark Ellis?
He believes he is Superman! I don’t care much for this cocky kid!
I hope we don’t see Busch Stadium again until next year.
Wouldn’t bother me a bit!
Just back from AZ and glad to see the giants down 0-2. Not so much the for their players, mostly those chicken shits that pack their ballpark.
Other than wanting the Giants to lose, I don’t much care who wins.
I forgot to add not wanting the Yankees to win either.
The two teams I hope don’t make it to the fall classic are the Giants and the Cardinals, because of their post season N.L. records, which are very good. The Yankees have the best post season record and I don’t think the Dodgers could match it my lifetime, so I just let them be.
Of course I care how the Yankees are doing when they playing against us.
If the Dodgers ever win another World Series, I wish it could be against the Yankees.
OBF: “IF”( the dodgers ever win another world series)…?
Correction: “When”…………….. YES GO REDS!!!
Yes Koufax 1963, “when” not “if”
LET’S GO REDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Clap, clap, clap!
On the board already….keep it up Cincy!
Seems like a lot of guys getting thrown out at third these days.
Quite a pitching duel between Bailey & Vogelson, especially Bailey.
I want the Reds to score runs……now!
Make that Vogelsong.
I’m shocked Botche took out Vogelsong.
In a tie game.
Well there goes the no-no.
Isn’t it good to see the crowd on our side?
That’s it for Bailey.
A walk-off would be sweet….send those gnats packing!
oh, well…..bottom of 10th will have to do.
Big Bad Jon.
Bad, is right 😉
See! He sucks!
We need a DP.
Damn, Rolen!
DAMN.
We’ll have to wait for game 4.
Oh, well…..hopefully tomorrow!
In this game I got the Tigers in a pool, other than that, it’s not that important.
This is the first time I can recall wanting the Reds to win.
They happened to be playing the Giants.
Two big games tomorrow: I hope the Reds and the Nats can take care of the Gnats & the Cruds.
The Athletics are holding on.
And they did.
I had a busy day today and just caught the Cards winning again, so nothing else to do right now but root, root root for the Reds.
The Reds need a big inning to get back in this game.
Yes, sir – a REAL BIG inning!
There will be no joy in Mudville if they let the giants take it from them in their own park.
Instead of the “Joy of October”…..I should have called it the “Agony”
Maybe tomorrow.
Dusty is going to blow it….just like he always does. He is not a winner!
Damn Yankees win in 12.
I’m really not surprised.
Stephen Drew thrown out at third after doubling in a run to trail 2-1. What is it with these guys?
WOW.
Unbelivable Oakland walk-off win.
Due to a death, in my family, my brother, who passed away Sunday on Long Island, from parkinson’s desease. He was 70. I’ll be attending the wake tomorrow, sleep over and attend the funeral on Friday.
Sorry for your loss OBF. Take care – God bless!
Me too.
My condolences Joe.
My condolences as well.
Sorry to hear the sad news. Take care, oldbrooklyn.
As much as I hate to say this, you have to give the Giants credit for taking three games in a row on the road to win their series against the Reds.
Agree…I want to hate them…but they studded up. Let’s see…who’s left? Without the Dodgers the playoffs are mostly background music for me. Go Birds, I guess…
Ouch, that means Orioles, not Cards. Screw the National League.
Ex-Dodger, Jayson Werth wins it for the Nats…..Oldbrooklynfan will be very happy….one more to go guys!
i guess I have to admit I thought the same thing about the Giants. Good for them, the players. I’m just glad it was on the road so their chicken shit fans couldn’t see it.
All the coaches except Dave Hansen are coming back. (Sigh) Still stuck with Bunnynuts 😦 I would hope that Mickey Hatcher will become hitting coach. That would so cool!
I’m with you!
So far, Oldbrooklynfan must be very happy….the Cards are getting smoked by the Nats……keep piling on!
I’m happy too!
Me Three! 😉
Uh, oh. The Cards are clawing their way back.
I bet they win it! Damn! My two least favorite teams in the playoff.
That insurance run helps the Nats.
Fingers crossed.
Damn, they better not blow this!
Thank you all for your condolences.
Com’on Nats.
Shit!
Ditto.
Looks like the Nats choked this game away!
This is jusst terrible.
Unfucking believable! I almost feel like I did the last game of 1962 when the Giants came from behind to steal the pennant from the Dodgers.
The two teams I hate, the Cards & the Giants.
Reverse Midas touch going here – I wanted the A’s, the Orioles and the Nats. Ain’t gonna happen . . . . .
This means the nasty Giants get to host….yuck!
Double yuck!!!
Congratulations to the Cardinals. Ya gotta give credit where credit’s due.
The Dodgers better get their Shirt together.
