Here’s our lineup:
M. Ellis, 2b
Ethier, rf
Kemp, cf
Gonzalez, 1b
Ramirez, ss
Victorino, lf
Cruz, 3b
A.J. Ellis, c
Harang, p
In spite of what I said on the previous post I want the Dodgers to finish strong no matter what, especially against the Giants. As I think about things, Dodger fans have always countered Giants fans about how many championships the Dodgers have won, especially since the teams moved to California. Yet it has been the Giants who have reached the World Series three times and won one since the Dodgers last championship. I hope current ownership takes notice.
Oh Dear Dodger God in the blue, I pray you do’t let the giants knock us out of the post season. It is enough torture to know the giants are in the post season, but to have further humiliation, would only build my character I know, but don’t you think I am already a character. GO Dodgers!
Amen!
So losing builds character? Tell that to Pirates fans who have not had a team with a winning record in what, 20 years?
Cards winning 3-1….Arroyo even gave up a dinger to Garcia (the pitcher) yuck!
Hi Everybody
Just hoping that Dodgers can stay alive through the night.
Great start Aaron!
….at least it was only one run!
Man these guys didn’t waste any time tonight.
Good grief….I really hate Krud & Krap!
Magic # is 1.
Cardinals won…..not good!
Now we absolutely must win this game.
WTG DRE!!!
MY MAN DOES IT AGAIN!
E T H I E R # 20
Every Day Dre
We need some runs.
I hope this was a good move by Mattingly, leaving Beli in.
Damn….Kenley!
Sheeeeit Kenley!
Damn
Whew….could have been worse!
It wouldn’t be the Dodgers if they did it the easy way.
We gotta score N O W.
I really hate it when Donnie makes asinine changes – like taking Ethier out when changing pitchers! Bah!!!
…..that’s Donnie’s way….dumb shit!
Go get ’em, Brandon!
Good job….now, walk off time!
Time for some walk off magic!
Would love to see a walk-off.
You got your wish, OBF!!! Dodgers WIN!!!
Woo-Hoo!
Dodgers win and live another day!
Awesome!!!
We love drama!!!
AND WE GOT IT.
We’ve still got a pulse – and the patient is breathing . . . . to be continued tomorrow.
A well played game. Thank you Dodger god for I may Dream tonight.
85-75 isn’t a bad record after 160 games, after the results of the last two years. Now we’ll make them cruds earn it.
Com’on Reds.
Plan:
Reds win tomorrow and Dodgers win tomorrow.
On Wednesday, the Dodgers game starts one hour earlier than the Cards game. We can put pressure on them by winning early on Wednesday.
That’s if……..
Hi’Ya Gang… I hope you are all well and happy.
I have been adamently following our Dodgers and rooting for them to somehow get into the playoffs.
Unfortunately, it is not looking good. Well, at least I didn’t think we were a playoff team starting the season. So, I am not very dissappointed.
Hey Wally – nice to see you in here!
You are right – it’s not looking good. But we still have a chance to get to the playoffs, albeit a small chance. Everything has to go right – two Cards losses and two Dodgers wins. Fortunately for us, the pitching matchups and Reds’ incentive to win are helping us. The Reds are still tied with the Nats for home field advantage. So, this is how I see it playing out (fingers and toes crossed):
1. 4:05 pm PDT today – Gio Gonzalez and the Nats beat BJ Rosenberg and the Phillies, putting the pressure on the Reds to win.
2. 5:15 pm – Matt Latos and the Reds beat Chris Carpenter and the Cards – Joey Votto takes Carpenter deep, then the Reds pile on against the Cards bullpen.
3. 7:10 pm – Chris Capuano beats Barry Zito, with lots of help from Kemp, HanRam, Cruuuuuz, and AJ.
4. 10:05 am tomorrow – Cliff Lee beats the Nats, giving the Reds an opening to home field advantage by winning their final game.
5. 4:15 pm – Kershaw dominates the Gnats, putting untold pressure on the Reds
6. 5:15 pm – Homer Bailey and the Reds win home field advantage, Adam Wainwright and the Cards CHOKE, and the Dodgers live to see another day of summer.
Needless to say….I would love this!
It’s baseball! Stranger things have happened. Witness the 2007 Rockies. They were in fourth place on Sept 15th. Then they won 13 of their last 14 games, forced a one-game playoff with the Pads to get the wild card spot, and went to the World Series.
We’re still in this!
It could end early if the Cruds win, but if the Reds prevail it should be an exciting game tonight.
Regardless, GO DODGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dusty Baker returned to the dugout for the Reds and they lost last night. I have an issue with Baker as a MGR, he usually does 162 games well, I hope he and his reds can win two more games, but I fear his time with the gnats has tainted him.
The Reds players need to draw inspiration from having Dusty back on the bench and not in the hospital or recovering at home. Then they need to kick the Cards’ butts for two games.
Agree completely. We have to have it. And the dodgers knock the doors down on the Gnats tonight. I can’t take the gnats fans hooting about how they knocked the dodgers out of the WC chase.
Lineup for Game #161 – Against Zito
M Ellis 2B
Victorino LF
Kemp CF
Gonzalez 1B
Ramirez SS
Cruz 3B
Ethier RF
AJ Ellis C
Capuano P.
Go Reds!!!!!
Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!
YES….GO REDS….GO DODGERS!
Carpenter looks like he’s been pitching all year.
…just gave up a homer to Rolen.
Com’on Reds.
Reds 1, Cards 1 – GOOO REDS!!!!!!!
Reds lead 2-1…..still up.
2-1 Reds.
Ludwick just doubled – 2nd and 3rd with no outs for the Reds!
Navarro just knocked in a run 3-1 Reds.
WTG Navarro!
Let’s hold it Reds….and, you can score some more..I don’t mind 😉
just nine more outs. and yes, get some insurance runs!
Nice start, Cappy!
Cards causing trouble in the bottom of the seventh – two one, and one out.
Damn that Posey.
I hate Posey!
Cappy through that one right in his wheelhouse.
“through” = “threw”
Krud & Krap have shown the homer 5 times already!
Reds still up 3-1 through 7
Shit!
thought Agon had one!
Hanley…way to go…bring him home, Cruz!
…yes!
Cruuuuuz!!!
Cruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuz
You show ’em Dre!
Donnie is such a putz!
putz, idiot, fidiot, …..
( ( 🙂 ) )
Dre turns over the lineup with a double from the 7-hole off the lefty Zito.
damn
Damn Cap!
Broxton in for Reds…..1 out & he just gave up a hit.
DP….whew! Reds up in 9th
gets a DP and out of the 8th inning.
Come on Cappy…don’t be crappy tonight!
Cruuuuzzz…awesome play to save us!
It looks like it’s going to be tough but the goal is still to win.
We need more hits!
Cards lose…..come on Dodgers! Let’s do this!
Cards lost . . . . . now we have to do our jobs and do them well!
Chapman was hitting 102 mph in STL in closing it out!
Cruds lose 3-1.
Thank you Reds. Now let’s do our jobs – get some hits!
Donnie uses a quick hook tonight.
Hey, it’s do or die – don’t blame him in the least.
absolutely correct
I think he saving him in the tiebreaker game if we get there I don’t trust Blanton.
Capuano has a bruised shoulder; hit himself with a donut the other day. No surprise he was pulled this early.
Nice DP started by Hanley!
A gift from Scutaro! Thank you!
Atonement.
Nice play by Mark Ellis!
Ugh…a blunder! Can’t be doing that shit!
Great move Donnie! You POS!
f’ck
It’s all uphill now.
Your fate is in your hands, Dodgers. Five more innings to come back or go home.
Why Guerrier??????
Off Topic: Thanks for the birthday wishes. I didn’t see them until just now.
Okay, we need hits. Tons and tons of hits. Let’s go, Dodgers!!!
We could use several runs too!
Now we’ll see how good we are.
Let’s break out the rally panties!
Sheeit!
Zito must be living a charmed life here as of late.
It amazes me that we beat Cain and, Zito has our number!!
Still lots of time. Let’s get it done.
Nice stretch, Adrian!
WTG Tolleson! Now let’s get some runs.
TIme to solve this Zito problem.
Hit by pitch is as good as a hit!
So is that why Dre is starting to get HBP? Where are the RALLY PANTIES!!!!
YES!!!! WAY TO GO A.J.!
WTG A.J.!!!!
AJ!!!!! YES!!!!!!!
WTG…… A.J.
Damn, Mark!
That was a baaaad gamble Ellis. WTF was he thinking?
MEllis got greedy – should have been happy with a double.
Damn Mark! Why did you have to get greedy? A double would have worked!
Nice triple for Shane – that would have tied it up, but no.
If Kemp doesn’t deliver and the Dodgers lose, we will be talking about Ellis’ brainfreeze for a looooonnnnnng time.
Yea am I a bit pissed, I hope that isnt the game changer, ellis gafaw that is
Usually Ellis is one of the smartest players in baseball. It is hard to believe that he went for it. I guess his heart took over from his brain.
Matt, you are not paid for those at bats, please have your eyes checked.
What a lousy tough break.
I can’t wait to hear what Steve Lyons and Kevin Kennedy have to say. There are 6 outs left. Plenty of opportunity for them to come back. We will see what kind of grit they have.
The ‘A’s’ are hot!
The Rangers are not!
The AL west is now tied!
The AL has been shakespereian this last week, A tragedy, a comedy and drama. Lets GO DODGERS!!!!
NIce throw by AJ!
The bottom of the 9th is going to be the sum and total of the entire season up to this time. It would sure be nice if the guys could pull it out.
Thanks AJ and League, now let’s get some runs.
Okay! Here we go!
Time for more walk off magic!
Let’s go, Andre!
Way to start us Dre!
Let’s go, AJ!
WTG DRE!!
Romo’s coming out of their pen with that nasty slider of his. . .
This ain’t gonna be easy!!
It’s classic Dodger baseball. NOTHING comes easy! 🙂
i don’t believe they are having him bunt!
Stupid Donnie wasting an out!
See….I really hate Mattingly!
Donnie put AJ in a big hole with the stupid bunt sign.
Let’s go, Bobby!
Let’s go, Gordon!
Let’s go, Ellis!
Let’s go, Gordon!
Let’s go, Dodgers!
WTG Gordon!
C’mon Mark!
Let’s go, Ellis!
Sheeeeeeit!!!!!
Season over! Wait til next year!
Yep, hoping next year will bring better things.
Darn!!! Just that close . . . . .
I thought ellis would have redemption, but no, what a season. wait till next Year
Wait till next year……..
Oh well…..I know fans are going to blame this loss on Mark but, I blame it on a piss poor managerial job by Fidiot!
Unfortunately, the fidiot manager of 2012 will also be the fidiot manager of 2013.
Ellis should not feel too bad. There were many, many games that the Dodgers should have won earlier in the season. Those games in August and early September counted just as much as tonight’s game.
Oh well!
We’re back to the Brooklyn mantra. . .
‘Wait till next year!’
At least the past week has given me optimism about next year. I’d love to see an everyday lineup that looks something like:
Gordon ss (provided he can get his head straight)
Crawford lf
Kemp cf
Gonzalez 1b
Ramirez 3b
Ethier rf
Cruz 2b (don’t if that’s where he’ll go, but need him in the lineup)
Ellis c
pitcher
Can’t fault that line-up at all Crash, especially if they’d play NL style ball. Unfortunately with Donnie coming back M.Ellis will be the everyday and bat second because dammit, that’s where Donnie says he should be.
Collie reminded me that just the fact Frank is no longer part of this team is the best thing that happened this season. Yea, it would have been great to make the playoffs, but I’m looking forward to see what happens in the off-season. It’s sure to be a good one. I will always bleed Dodger Blue, and that will never change, regardless of the record.
The Outlook wasn’t brilliant for the Dodger nine that day:
The score stood four to three, with but two innings more to play.
And then when Punto whiffed, and Mark Ellis came up lame,
A sickly silence fell upon the patrons of the game.
A straggling few got up to go in deep despair. The rest
Clung to that hope which springs eternal in the human breast;
They thought, if only Matt Kemp could get but a whack at that –
We’d put up even money, now, with Matt Kemp at the bat.
But Mark Ellis preceded Matt Kemp, as did also Victorino,
And the former was a lulu and the latter was no Bambino;
So upon that stricken multitude grim melancholy sat,
For there seemed but little chance of Matt Kemp’s getting to the bat.
But Ellis let drive a double, to the wonderment of all,
Victorino, the much despised, tore the cover off the ball;
And when the dust had lifted, and the men saw what had occurred,
There was Ellis in the dugout and Shane a-hugging third.
Then from 40,000 throats and more there rose a lusty yell;
It rumbled through the valley, it rattled in the dell;
It knocked upon the mountain and recoiled upon the flat,
For Matt Kemp, mighty Matt Kemp, was advancing to the bat.
There was ease in Matt Kemp’s manner as he stepped into his place;
There was pride in Matt Kemp’s bearing and a smile on Matt Kemp’s face.
And when, responding to the cheers, he lightly doffed his hat,
No stranger in the crowd could doubt ’twas Matt Kemp at the bat.
Eighty thousand eyes were on him as he rubbed his hands with dirt;
Forty thousand tongues applauded when he wiped them on his shirt.
Then while the writhing pitcher ground the ball into his hip,
Defiance gleamed in Matt Kemp’s eye, a sneer curled Matt Kemp’s lip.
And now the leather-covered sphere came hurtling through the air,
And Matt Kemp stood a-watching it in haughty grandeur there.
Close by the sturdy batsman the ball unheeded sped-
“That ain’t my style,” said Matt Kemp. “Strike one,” the umpire said.
From the benches, black with people, there went up a muffled roar,
Like the beating of the storm-waves on a stern and distant shore.
“Kill him! Kill the umpire!” shouted someone on the stand;
And its likely they’d a-killed him had not Matt Kemp raised his hand.
With a smile of Christian charity great Matt Kemp’s visage shone;
He stilled the rising tumult; he bade the game go on;
He signaled to the pitcher, and once more the spheroid flew;
But Matt Kemp still ignored it, and the umpire said, “Strike two.”
“Fraud!” cried the maddened thousands, and echo answered fraud;
But one scornful look from Matt Kemp and the audience was awed.
They saw his face grow stern and cold, they saw his muscles strain,
And they knew that Matt Kemp wouldn’t let that ball go by again.
The sneer is gone from Matt Kemp’s lip, his teeth are clenched in hate;
He pounds with cruel violence his bat upon the plate.
And now the pitcher holds the ball, and now he lets it go,
And now the air is shattered by the force of Matt Kemp’s blow.
Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
But there is no joy in Dodger Stadium – mighty Matt Kemp has struck out.
In inning 8, they failed to score;
In inning 9 they failed once more,
With hopes of winning vanquished, the pain it was severe,
And the fans could only shout, “Wait until next year.”
(With apologies to Ernest Thayer)
Outstanding!!
Yes….brilliant, it is!
Absolutely awesome!
Fantastic – that sums up the game and the season, too!
Well done 32!!
Remarkable and impressive!
Tomorrow’s game is at 4:15 PT/7:15ET, I’ll be watching.
All those losses in Aug/Sept dug us too big a hole to climb out of. I had pretty much decided the Dodgers were not playoff caliber then, but this last week gave me a glimmer of hope, and last nights game left me with a feeling of loss. I do have a good feeling about the team going forward, and as nelly says, the off season is sure to be interesting.
Oh well. I am disappointed, but not surprised. I didn’t think this was a playoff team starting the season. The new owners definately went all in to try and make it happen. Bodes well for the future. Unfortunate that most of our aquisitions didn’t do much down the stretch. I hope they get back to developing young players. I am rooting for those Oakland A’s. Also Baltimore. It is a shame that the Dodgers have gotten so far away from their roots of developing and bringing up good young talent.
It’s nice to see this familiar avatar! I hope all is well with you Jhall!! The A’s are one bay area team I can root on proudly. What a season they had!! I am also pulling for Baltimore, Tigers (Fister is a home grown boy) and the Nationals on our NL side.
Nice going in the final stretch run, and this last home stand was more exciting for it. However, as I said a couple of weeks back, I don’t think that either our Dodgers or the Cardinals deserved to be in the playoffs. The second wild card addition I thought was a travesty to begin with, only engineered to get more fan interest and more dollars for the owners. I don’t think that any team unable to win 90 games should be in the playoffs.
Playoffs would have been great for the team members who were with us from the beginning of the season, and I thank them all for their contribution. I think that Harang and Capuano held up as well as could have been expected; both Ellises did well and would be welcome back; hard to tell what value Lilly would have added; losing Billz the way he was going was certainly a blow; and Uribe?
Not at all sorry for the new owners’ failed attempt to buy themselves a playoff. I’ll welcome their added investment when it produces new Dodgers from the ground up, but I have to admit that I didn’t appreciate bringing in the wholesale Red Sox addition to the team – maybe next year once they’re more settled into being real Dodgers.
I too wish the A’s the O’s and even the Nats success in the playoffs.
It will be a pleasure seeing the new faces on the national stage.
Next year I think the Dodgers will do it too. I just wish it wasn’t with Ned and donnie still on board.
I too was against the 2nd wild card thing and thought it was unfair to the No.1 seed wild card winner. Through the years I noticed that the wild card team many times had a better record than at least one of the division winners and sometimes even had the second best record of the four. I always felt that the wild card team deserved to be there as much as the others.
That said, if it wasn’t for the 2nd wild card this Dodger season would’ve been a disaster.
I now change my mind and feel that the 2nd wild card adds a lot of excitement for teams that would’ve been long out of it.
I’m watching the As/Rangers game it’s like watching a beer league game.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the offense in a beer league game.
Hi Everybody
Just here to enjoy the game.
Me too….die hard fans, we are!
i really want the Reds to knock the Gnats out of the playoffs but, I think Dusty is as bad at managing as Donnie! Don’t care for him too much.
I was happy when Dusty removed Ortiz back in the 2002 WS and cost the Giants a WS title.
So am I and I’m rooting for the Braves to beat the Cruds.
Did I ever tell I hate the Cards too.
And it has nothing to do with this year.
I’d like to see the Braves/Orioles WS…..wouldn’t mind the Tigers in there, though. The worst nightmare for MLB and their ratings would be for it to be a Giants/As WS.
I think the Orioles/Nationals would be great.
I hope Kershaw get 10 k’s so he can win his 2nd straight strikeout title but it might not happen.
Yes, that will be great.
No no-no.
Way to go Dre & YO, Adrian!
229 K’s for Kersh. Hope that Donnie leaves him in for the 9th.
You know he won’t!
Yeah, he didn’t. It’s not like he couldn’t have let him finish the game. If we were playing tomorrow, then I could understand. Bah! What a fidiot!!!
An insurance run! Thank you, Castellanos 🙂
ALEX CASTELLANOS>>>>
Rivera – wow!
Woo-Hoo….and Rivera too!
ATTA WAY JUAN.
All right Kenley – 1-2-3 inning – PLEASE!
…so much for that!
….okay two outs now
……and, game over…WE WIN!
And appropriately, on a K 🙂
At least we’re not having anxiety attacks over it 🙂
lol…so true!
86————76, Dodgers Won & Loss record.
…and the winner of the pre- season predictions is
vl4eccjr!
Yes, congratulations VL!! Didn’t want them to lose today – I hate being right all the time!! Its times like these that keep me the humble soft spoken guy I am.
( ( ( 😉 ) ) )
It was just a lucky guestimation on my part. 🙂
It’s going to be a long off season. I’m curious to see how things play out for the start of next season. Who stays? Who goes? Time will tell.
LMAO!!! I know I am just reading this, but that made me laugh. You are too funny enchanted! Humble…..maybe. Soft spoken…not a chance.
We have a lot to look forward to next year. In the meantime, let’s enjoy the post season – although certainly not as much as if the Dodgers were in it 🙂 Remember – 149 days until spring training! 😉
Thank you to all my fellow OTD fans, it has been great having a place to celebrate and vent all season long. Next year I trust will be exciting. I am very impressed with the As, hope they stay hot, or the Os, but AL is not my thing. NO DH for me. And my one wish is the giants are sweep away in the first round, so I can walk the streets without a bunch of halloween colors in my face all October.
No kidding!!
Oh BTW Congrats to the AL Triple Crown Winner Miguel Cabrera!
Forty-five years is a looong drought!
Always a sad day, the last game of the season, that is, especially when Vin says bye-bye to all of us. It’s like a friend going away. My 43rd year as a fanatic; guess i was spoiled during the great Lasorda years. Next season will be a quarter century since Gibby’s homer and the Dodgers’ last championship. Hard to believe that much water has flowed under the bridge. Ned and Donnie are not worth me getting in a lather. I’d prefer different leadership but it’s not going to happen. So be it. Really was a kick watching the team overachieve to the best record in baseball early on. The season really went south when Kemp’s hammy went south. As we all know, he was having a a surreal, supersonic start. So now, I put the Dodgers in storage and count the days until spring when I can hear Vin’s voice once again. May God keep him healthy and happy.
Thanks OTD, for being patient with me and taking me back into the fold after frequent long absences. I’ll be checking in, as usual, all through the offseason or as I like to call it, the holiday season. To me the game is a 12 month affair.
I’m planning to be at CBR this coming spring training with the TBLA group for few days. I hope to see some of you there.
After this roller coaster season, finishing with a an upward swing in September and October, I’m anxiously waiting for next season.
Red Sox confirmed baseball’s worst kept secret today. They fired Bobby Valentine.
It’s about time!
It’s always a pleasure conversing with you fine Dodgers fans. I love and respect all of your opinions and ideas. The other night I was having memories of the old ITD days. Then and now…it’s all wonderful. It’s the love of the Dodgers that keep us connected, and it will continue to do so as long as there are the Dodgers. I am pretty much pulling for anybody not named the Giants, Cardinals, Reds or Yankees. I will go NL as long as it’s the Nationals or the Braves. If not, I am going for the A’s, O’s or Tigers.
Kahli, I too feel the same way about the season ending, knowing I won’t have Vinny’s voice and smile to make me feel better no matter what is happening on the field. I have been listening to him since the Dodgers came to Los Angeles and feel so fortunate to have enjoyed so many seasons with him. It is comforting just to see him in the booth when I attend games.
No need to rehash what happend this past season. It is interesting to note that two players, Adrian Gonzalez and A.J. Ellis, both mentioned on the radio and TV post game shows yesterday that they are both looking forward to next season and that the team is pretty much set with regard to position players. They also both mentioned that there will be high expectations and that other teams will be gunning for the Dodgers. Hopefully next season’s team will meet those expectations.
I find it interesting that even with what many perceive is a set lineup there are still some big questions going into the off season. It does seem as if the Dodgers want to find a way to get Dee Gordon back into the mix while at the same time try to figure out what to do with Cruz. Obviously a lot depends on whether Hanley Ramirez plays third or short. I was not impressed with his play at short but I was less impressed with Gordon’s ability to get on base. If the Dodgers do decide that Ramirez will play third and Dee gets another shot at shortstop, does Cruz replace Mark Ellis at second or does he become the utility player or more accurately, insurance? It will be interesting to see what happens.
The Dodgers still have some other issues. I see Billz is trying to avoid surgery which is understandable. I think the Dodgers have little choice but to assume he will not be available next season and act accordingly. Kershaw’s hip and foot problems seem to have gone away but they could just as easily return. Crawford is still a big unknown but clearly will figure in next season’s plans no matter when he is ready to play. Jansen still has the heart problem and Kemp’s shoulder surgery could keep him sidelined into spring as well. Hopefully things go well with him and he is ready when the season starts.
No matter what, the Dodgers do keep things interesting.
lbirk, always a pleasure conversing with you. Mark Ellis will be 36 in June. I see Cruz as the everyday second baseman going into the start of the season, with Gordon at short, Ramirez at third. As for the rest of the puzzle, who knows? But if they land a top-tier starter, having Josh Beckett as a #3 is a luxury, indeed! Will definitely be an interesting winter. As a Dodger fan, I can’t root National League for the World Series. I think Billy Bean and the A’s are a tremendous story. That’ll be my team for the playoffs.
Cruz at second works for me. Assuming he stays healthy and has a decent Spring he certainly deserves to start somewhere. As for the playoffs, if the A’s make a good run you can bet the media wags will continue to rub Oakland’s measly payroll in the faces of the so called big market, big spending teams. I do hope the series does not come down to Giants-Yankees.
I heard Dee was working out at second. Perhaps, he would fit there….and, keep Cruz on 3rd. I also heard management isn’t too pleased with Hanley. Should be fun to see what happens with new owners taking over at the start of a season.
Any ideas on what we should do during the off-season? Want to keep OTD going strong.
Fire up the hot stove. We need a really good starting pitcher or two. Who is available as a free agent? Greinke?
You know Ned will go after Dempster.
…after years of grabbing players from the dumpster.
Complete list of FAs:
http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/?page_id=177
A lot of familiar names on that list.
None of those starters tickle my fancy. Of all the great front-line pitchers on crappy teams, King Felix Hernandez stands out. Seattle finished 19 games out, so it’s not like they’re one player away. Maybe Kasten can work his magic and pull off a trade. Uribe straight up????!?!?!?!?!?
The one on Ned’s short list is Jamie Moyer. Fortunately, Stan Kasten is here now to keep him from pulling the trigger.
Matt is having surgery on his shoulder Friday…..come back healthy Matty!
Also ….the deal for the Boston group is now complete….Red Sox get De La Rosa and Sands.
I hope De La Rosa does not become another Pedro Martinez.
….and, who knows, Jerry may become Josh Hamilton with some solid playing time.
DeLaRosa and Sands may become Martinez & Hamilton but let’s hope the Dodgers don’t remain the Dodgers.
Tigers/As
LET’S GO REDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You got your wish.
