  1. 32and53fan says:

The Dodgers better get the act together after that pathetic sweep by the Giants.

Ken Rosenthal thinks a deal for Adrian Gonzalez is close. We’ll see.

  2. trublu4ever says:

The deal is going to happen….perhaps this is some incentive for the boys to get it together!

  3. trublu4ever says:

Rubby claimed by Toronto…will be shut down in AAA until he can go to Boston. Castellanos called up.

  4. crash24now says:

The sooner we get A-Gon the better

  5. trublu4ever says:

Hmmm…Loney scratched from lineup…..could this be bye-bye James?!

  6. 32and53fan says:

I was just wondering if ALL the players in a trade package today would have to pass waivers?

  7. enchantedbeaver says:

This goes through I’m actually more interested in next year.

This team would still need pitching though, and trading Rubby isn’t exactly going in the right direction.

  8. crash24now says:

It’s a great day to be a Dodgers fan.

  9. enchantedbeaver says:

Unfortunately we’d still have Donnie & Ned running the show, and IMNSHO they couldn’t win with reincarnated Ruths, Gehrigs, Mays, Musials, and Williams.

  10. dodgereric says:

John Ireland got a tweet from someone in Boston who said they’re taking down a big AGon poster in Fenway.

  11. crash24now says:

Latest rumor on the trade is:

Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett, and Nick Punto for

James Loney, Rubby De La Rosa, Ivan DeJesus, Jerry Sands, and possibly a prospect like Zach Lee.

  12. 32and53fan says:

All of this trade talk has me glued to my laptop instead of cleaning out my bathroom, a job I have been putting off for weeks. I guess one more day won’t hurt. πŸ™‚

  13. trublu4ever says:

I’m so glad the game is on Prime Ticket tonight… the time the pre-game is on……the deal may be finalized. How cool!

  14. trublu4ever says:

    Okay…now I heard it’s a done deal…..Loney, Sands, DeLaRosa, DeJesus and Webster.

  15. crash24now says:

Loney – not a problem. I was so done with him, last year.
IDJ – He’s still young, he could do something, but he’s still unproven.
Jer-ry: I’m kinda sad to see him go. He may blossom into a good MLB hitter.
Zach Lee – A very high ceiling guy – could be a #1 or #2 starter, but time will tell. Could possibly flame out before he gets to MLB, too.
Rubby – Rubby is the key guy that we’re giving up in this deal. He was definitely on track to be #2 behind Kershaw.

Punto – just another utility infielder
Crawford – We won’t know until sometime next year. Could come back and be good, or could come back and be crap.
Beckett – An aging starting pitcher, probably better than Harang, definitely better than Blanton.
A-Gone: He’s the key. Will provide additional firepower in the lineup and give us a good chance to get to the playoffs and beyond.

Overall, is this a good deal for the Dodgers? Yes. Gives us a chance to win this year and next two years after that. But it does hurt our chances in 2015-2019. That’s a deal you usually take.

On the other hand, playoffs will be tough with the starting pitchers after Kershaw. Billz, hopefully, will prove me wrong, if he can continue his recent success. Capuano is a decent #3. After that, we have problems. I guess that puts our chances in the hands of Chad.

They’re saying our payroll will be somewhere around $190 million.

I don’t mind any of the guys going except Ruby. Might be Pedro, the sequel. But to get, you have to give.

  17. kahliforni says:

It’s not my money, so I like the proposed trade. If completed, it puts Rivera on the bench as a righty PH and Punto in as a utility 3B. Uribe must be very depressed right about now……..

    • 32and53fan says:

You would think that between former hitting coaches Don Mattingly, Tim Wallach and current coach Dave Hansen, they could figure out a way to get Uribe back on track.

  18. DodgerZona says:

I believe Webster is going not Z. Lee

  19. DodgerZona says:

I like Sands and De La Rosa but you have to give up that to get Agon,Beckett,Crawford and Punto…I like the deal…Hate giving up RDLR and Sands 😦

  20. DodgerZona says:

    But glad Loney is included

  21. 32and53fan says:

    Comparison of our hitters
Gonzalez is having a crappy year for him, for home runs at least, but still compares nicely with our team.

    Our production at 1B this year: .244 9 54 .289

  22. nedisajerk says:

Can we put Blanton on waiver? I seriously don’t know why we claim him and of course that guy Ryan O’Sullivan look like he could be better than his older brother who used to pitch for the Angels.

  23. trublu4ever says:

  24. trublu4ever says:

Billz looks like the old Chad!

  25. DodgerZona says:

    come on Billz

  26. enchantedbeaver says:

I see little Chaddie is back.

  27. He must have trimmed his beard . . . . .

  28. crash24now says:

Rivera vainly trying to save his job.

  29. nellyjune says:

First week of school in the books. I have a great class but way too many Giants fans. I see it has been a busy day for the Dodgers. WOW!!
    Let’s go Dodgers, let’s go!

  30. trublu4ever says:

    Yay…Billz …. a 1-2-3 inning! Now that’s what your supposed to do!

  31. trublu4ever says:

    2 for 2 πŸ™‚

  32. trublu4ever says:

  33. Hanley! But I do feel bad for Nate, but not THAT bad πŸ™‚

  34. DodgerZona says:

Hanleyyyyyyy…Think this might be trade has these guys fired up lol

  35. DodgerZona says:

man Cruz has been lights out

  36. trublu4ever says:

    Damn, Chad!

  37. enchantedbeaver says:

That’s the Chad we know. Can’t stand prosperity.

  38. enchantedbeaver says:

So this trade goes through and we end up with Crawford, I doubt with TJ surgery he’s back until late July. Do you sign Victorino or find some schmuck (Rivera) to play left?

    • trublu4ever says:

It depends on whether Neddie is still GM. He loves to shop at Schmucks R Us.

    • nedisajerk says:

Why did they have to get Crawford and we probably save one prospect in the deal. Victorino said he would like to be back and I wouldn’t mind him as a stopgap until Puig is ready and you know how Ned love those 2 years deal?

  39. koufax1963 says:

I like A-gon, but this seems a short sighted deal giving up on RuBBY and Zack, our proposed top line pitchers in 3 years or less. And WE need pitching, That is the only way to the the WS Ring.

  40. trublu4ever says:

I have a feeling we are going to need a lot more runs to win this game.

  41. enchantedbeaver says:

Time for my Jamey Wright sucks comment.

  42. trublu4ever says:

    Hey, Beav….3 for 3 πŸ˜‰

  43. nedisajerk says:

Dang it Lilly why did you have to get hurt?

  44. koufax1963 says:

Is Bilz alright? Yea webster was on the fast track too, but so young it would be hard to tell what he developed to be, so…… lets win this game!

  45. enchantedbeaver says:

So are they really trying to build a team to overtake the Gnats, or are they building a team to overtake Atlanta/St.Louis for the WC?

    • trublu4ever says:

Well the gnats are handling the Braves just fine. I’m thinking the East & Central may not be that great.

      • enchantedbeaver says:

Could be they’re just trying to build a team people will come back out and watch.

        • trublu4ever says:

I’m glad they are trying to build a team. It will be fun to see what moves they make in the off-season as far as staff goes. I’ll bet Uribe, Kennedy and other players like them will be a thing of the past. No PVLs for the new regime!

  46. trublu4ever says:

    Kennedy is another useless player.

    • nedisajerk says:

Not as useless as Uribe. Uribe would dream to have a stats lines like this .263/.341/.346/.687.

      July 15 38 5 13 4 0 1 6 3 7 0 1 .342 .372 .526 .898
      August 6 12 2 5 0 0 0 0 1 1 1 0 .417 .462 .417 .878

      Pre-All Star 61 123 15 28 5 1 1 12 18 27 0 1 .228 .315 .309 .624
      Post-All Star 15 33 6 13 3 0 0 3 3 4 1 0 .394 .444 .485 .929

      • enchantedbeaver says:

Uribe’s in a special catagory – Andruw Jones Useless. Up til this year, I didn’t think anyone else could ever achieve that level of incompetence.

There’s one for managers too – Joe Torre Useless.

        It has two members.

  47. koufax1963 says:

It is amazing how the ownership can just acquiire a hitting firstbaseman just like that, havent seen that in decades!

  48. nedisajerk says:

I knew it was too much for a 123 inning from League.

  49. trublu4ever says:

Way to go guys….let’s add more runs right now!

  50. trublu4ever says:

    Billz…tender right elbow.

  51. enchantedbeaver says:

Dammit. Dre’s picked a fine time to heat up…

  52. vl4eccjr says:

Looks like Dre is dialed in on the Marlins pitching tonight. πŸ™‚

  53. trublu4ever says:

    Woo-Hoo….love this!

  54. vl4eccjr says:

  55. dodgereric says:

    Little League HR for Cruuuuuuz!

    • trublu4ever says:

I’m so glad Cruz has been given the chance to play. He’s a great addition to our team. Just think, after spending all that time in the minors, he was almost going to leave for the Mexican League.

  56. enchantedbeaver says:

Getting hard not to like Cruz.

    • trublu4ever says:

Kind of a blessing that Dee got hurt and Donnie finally realized Uribe is useless.

    • 32and53fan says:

It is kind of hard for me to like Dee Gordon. He comes across as way too cocky for someone who is not ready to be on a major league roster, other than his speed. I think that the management has figured out that he is not yet ready for prime time and I will be surprised if he gets back to being a regular this year.

  57. nedisajerk says:

Save some of those runs for Kershaw.

  58. trublu4ever says:

    Gnats beat the Braves 5 – 3…..big bad Braves…. they aren’t!

  59. dodgereric says:

Hey e, any room for pitching in your Andruw Jones Useless Club? If so, how about a guy with 3 wins and $46 million?

    • enchantedbeaver says:

I have to give Schmidt at least a pat on the back for trying to come back. I think he at least cared. I do feel that 3 wins and $46M should land Ned on the list though.

      • dodgereric says:

I think it’s starting to look a lot like one of your Ned’s Bad Deals list that taxes everyone’s scroll bars. Probably should be renamed Ned’s Useless Club.

  60. enchantedbeaver says:

Its freakin 11 to 4 with two outs in the 8th inning. Is a pitching change really called for?

  61. enchantedbeaver says:

    I’m telling ya, Tolleson’s a keeper.

  62. dodgereric says:

Uribe reminds me of that old piece of shit sofa that no one took at your yard sale and you shove it to the curb with a “free” sign on it and it’s still there in the morning.

  63. enchantedbeaver says:

And Juan keeps his perfect August going. 0 for 12.

  64. trublu4ever says:

    Wow….great snatch, Hanley!

  65. trublu4ever says:

    Ahhh, the thrill of victory!

  66. enchantedbeaver says:

Well damn. We just need Wally and Nells back and we can have a family reunion next time.

    Good seeing ya Eric.

    Take care everybody!!

  67. grizzy says:

Hate to see DeLaRosa and Webster go. In a way I Do not like Loney leaving either. When James, Martin, Ethier and Kemp came up, I thought we had a nucleus for years to come. Of course, he had every chance to make it and didn’t. Time for a change there.

  68. trublu4ever says:

The deal is finalized……welcome to L.A.! I’m hearing Gonzalez will be in the starting lineup tonight…..I’m so glad our new owners are trying to make us a good team. What a relief to have somebody at the helm who cares about baseball….not Malibu mansions and $500 haircuts. GO DODGERS!!!!

  69. messagebear says:

I guess my view of the deal would be different if I was a Red Sox fan, which I’m NOT. It would be one thing to get Gonzalez as essentially an improvement on Loney – it’s something else to acquire the whole package. Obviously the new ownership doesn’t care what it costs; just like they didn’t care what they paid for the franchise. How long can they keep that up? Don’t the investors eventually want to see a dollar return on their investment? Or will they settle for a championship and the World Series. I say that sooner or later the dollars will matter, and the fans may not be cheering so loudly in another couple of years.

Ned has been making deals to outdo his old boss with the Giants for all of his GM career, and see where that got him and us so far.
Now we’re trying to outsmart the Red Sox, and only time will tell where that leads us. However, I don’t see that Ned will prove any more successful there than he has with the Giants’ throwoffs.

  70. messagebear says:

I’m thinking about this from Frank’s standpoint. He ought to approach the Guggenheimers about getting his real estate portion bought out – I bet, given the largesse that is being thrown around, he could get another billion for what he retained in the parking lots.

  71. DodgerZona says:

    Dylan Hernandez ‏

The Dodgers trade with the Red Sox is official

  72. kahliforni says:

Taking money out of the equation (it’s not ours, so who cares…) the trade is a good one. Prospects are always touted to be the “next great thing” but middle infielders (DeJesus) and non-athletic outfielders (Sands is not exactly a five-tool player) are expendable. The two pitching prospects are the real gamble, but it’s not like they’ve shown potential Hall of Fame numbers in the minors. But they could be great some day. Oh well. You gotta give to receive. If the Dodgers truly revamp their minor league system, other arms will be there. Loney? I’ll take Gonzales eight days a week. Beckett? If he finds his form, a true #1. Crawford? That’s a discussion for late 2013.

    • nedisajerk says:

I’m going to call it now. Sands would be another another Konerko and De La Rosa would be another Martinez. I want to keep Webster those NC pitchers can pitch and the Red Sox surely didn’t want Withrow instead since he was a former #1 2007 pick? Why Crawford when you can resign Victorino on a 2 years deal until Puig is ready and Victorino wanted to be here.

  73. DodgerZona says:

    Jon Heyman ‏

adrian gonzalez is in the dodgers lineup tonight

  74. trublu4ever says:

Wow…look at our lineup for tonight:
    LF, Victorino
    2B, M. Ellis
    CF, Kemp
    1B, Gonzalez
    SS, Ramirez
    RF, Ethier
    3B, Cruz
    C, A.J. Ellis
    P, Kershaw

    Looks awesome!

  75. nedisajerk says:

Watching the LLWS and some kid hit 3 3 runs HR’s.

  76. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Hi Everybody,
It will sure be interesting seeing AG in a Dodger uniform, I can’t wait.

  77. oldbrooklynfan says:

Just 2 1/2 back as the Giants just lost.

  78. oldbrooklynfan says:

How come the Dodgers have not had a press conference? The Red Sox had theirs earlier tonight.

  79. trublu4ever says:

Hearing Billz on 15 day DL….Castellanos back to AAA…..Beckett to pitch Monday…..funny all this comes out and, Ned said he didn’t know about Chad’s condition.
    Victorino out tonight…sore back…..Rivera in.

  80. trublu4ever says:

Boy…..the fans already love AG…..he’s making quite an impression during his warm-ups. Smiling and glad he is here!

  81. Nice start . . . let’s go Cruuuuuuz!!

  82. trublu4ever says:

I’m totally stoked! Love this team!

  83. oldbrooklynfan says:

UNBELIEVABLE first AB 3 run homer.

  84. trublu4ever says:

    Guess who’s 5 for 5? πŸ™‚

  85. enchantedbeaver says:

My Gonzalez has a first name its A-d-r-i-a-n.
My Gonzalez has a second name its G-o-n-z-a-l-e-z
Oh he’ll play first for us ev’ry day
And if you ask my why I’ll say
Cuz A. Gonzalez had a way to make our Loney go away.

  86. koufax1963 says:

Wow ! Opening a Beer now to greet the game.

  87. lbirken says:

Wow, what a first at bat, first hit for AG!

This current roster is so much different from the roster that had a 7 game lead and from the roster that lost that lead. This new leadership group sure took some dramatic steps to start make me a believer.

  88. lbirken says:

Wait a minute, you mean the Dodgers still have to play? While we have been gloating the lead has been cut in half.

  89. koufax1963 says:

Ellis, matches their lead off homer. Thinking the chemistry in the dugout is pretty cool.

  90. trublu4ever says:

    Wow….good pick, Kersh!

  91. trublu4ever says:

Actually… boy is 8 for 8 (Vinny says he had two in last game against the gnats)!

  92. oldbrooklynfan says:

Ethier has 8 hits in a row.

  93. trublu4ever says:

    Love, love, love this lineup!

  94. oldbrooklynfan says:

Kemp and A.J. are the only ones in tonight’s line that were orginally signed by the Dodgers.

  95. enchantedbeaver says:

You know, Loney was an interesting part of this deal considering he’s a FA after this season. Think Boston will sign him?

  96. trublu4ever says:

Wonder how many #23 jerseys were sold tonight? Bet it’s a bunch!

  97. trublu4ever says:

    EVERYDAY DRE!!!!!!!!

  98. oldbrooklynfan says:

  99. oldbrooklynfan says:

9 in a row ties Cey.

  100. What a night!!! Matt’s out of his funk; Dre’s mashing; even Rivera is contributing. Was just thinking that Uribe, if he were to pinch hit, might even . . . . . nahhhh it won’t happen πŸ™‚

  101. nellyjune says:

    Andre πŸ™‚

  102. koufax1963 says:

Ever since this blister became an issue, a day off, Every Day Dre is smashing. 2 back after tonight! Sweet. chocolate is fine with me.

  103. oldbrooklynfan says:

The All -Time Dodger record is 10.

  104. DRE!!! Got his 10th straight hit!!!!

  105. vl4eccjr says:

  106. trublu4ever says:

    YAY…10 a new L.A. record….ties the Brooklyn record!

  107. oldbrooklynfan says:

Dre”s tied the Dodger all time record.

  108. That little hit reminded me of the type that used to fall in when Dre was in the midst of his 31-game hitting streak.

  109. enchantedbeaver says:

Ellis has done a good job tonight setting the table.

  110. enchantedbeaver says:

Those last three AB’s sure looked awfully familiar.

  111. trublu4ever says:

Vinny says press conference after the game with all the newbies.

  112. oldbrooklynfan says:

Nice offensive night. See you tomorrow.

  113. trublu4ever says:

One game closer…..let’s do it again tomorrow guys!

  114. koufax1963 says:

They interviewed Dusty Baker today, and his thought on the dodgers, “We were trying to figure out the money spent, it is scary, I have something to worry about when I play them”

  115. nellyjune says:

Well, we can’t say the media isn’t spending enough time talking about the Dodgers……this weekend at least. I see Dodger Blue on every channel. What a great day to be a Dodger fan. Well, any day is a good day to be a Dodger fan……compared to being a Gnat fan πŸ™‚

  116. trublu4ever says:

Best news ever…..Vinny to return for another year! He also wants to see what this team, and new owners, can do.

  117. South Orange County is also Dodgertown! I met Magic Johnson (who was also shopping, just like me) at the Ralph’s across the street from my apartment complex. I thanked him for bringing back Dodger pride. He is quite a gentleman!

  118. trublu4ever says:

Punto gets a start today at 2nd….Treanor in for A.J…Victorino is back……I’m hoping with Punto & Kennedy, Uribe will bid us a long overdue farewell.

  119. DodgerZona says:

‘@Dodgers lineup: Victorino LF, Punto 2B, Kemp CF, Gonzalez 1B, Ramirez SS, Ethier RF, Cruz 3B, Treanor C, Harang P

  120. DodgerZona says:

Loney grounds into double play in his 1st at bat for the not a shocker

  121. nellyjune says:

Way to go James!!! Oh sorry, wrong team πŸ™‚ I wish him the best with Boston. I’m sure Andre told Dustin to take care of him πŸ™‚

  122. crash24now says:

Given the state of the starting pitching, how deep in the playoffs do you think the Dodgers can realistically go?

I think that we’ll win the NL West, thanks to the strengthened lineup. But I’m thinking we will lose in the NLDS.

    • enchantedbeaver says:

Not sure this team wins the west crash. I guess a lot will depend on how Beckett does. Blanton’s a worthless pile of crap, so you know you’re going to lose 9 times out of 10 he starts. Harang and Capuano are crap shoots and you never know what you’re going to get.

I do think this team makes the playoffs thanks to a second WC, but I don’t look for them to be able to make it past the first round.

  123. nedisajerk says:

I wish it was this today Victorino, Kemp, A-Gon, Ramirez, Ethier, Cruz, Treanor, Punto, and Harang. I wouldn’t mind Punto in the 2nd hole but he’s not hitting this season and was better last year.

  124. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Hi Everybody
Had trouble coming on but I’m here now.

  125. trublu4ever says:

    Yo’ Adrian! rbi for you!

  126. DodgerZona says:

    AGon yes

  127. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Looking Good.

  128. crash24now says:

    Looked inside to me.

  129. oldbrooklynfan says:

So the record stands at 10, Konectchy & Ethier. 93 years apart.

  130. nedisajerk says:

At least he still got his hit streak going against a RHP lol.

    658 162 30 1 20 31 95 2 3 17 .268 .302 .386 .665

    10975 2772 531 40 294 595 1491 51 71 295 .273 .315 .389 .681

That was a rare SB that Buehrle gave up and only allowed 2 in his 26 starts. In his career only allowed 51 SB’s.

  131. nedisajerk says:

Yep something else that guy on the Dodgers twitter forgot and it was his 2nd career SB’s off of Buehrle.

  132. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Three straight walks for Punto.

  133. enchantedbeaver says:

Let it never be said that Punto doesn’t know how to take a walk.

  134. enchantedbeaver says:

Is Donnie sick? This team doesn’t run.

  135. crash24now says:

Harang served that one up right down the middle.

  136. oldbrooklynfan says:

They should stop pitching to Stanton.

  137. trublu4ever says:

Boy, Stanton is the full package! I knew he was good when he was just Mike πŸ˜‰

  138. enchantedbeaver says:

Please tell me that next year we can come up with a better back-up catcher than Treanor.

  139. trublu4ever says:

Damn, Harang is pooping out already!

  140. oldbrooklynfan says:

    They’re bombing Harang.

  141. vl4eccjr says:

    Awww sheeeeit!

  142. enchantedbeaver says:

Looking at Harang’s pitch locations on Gameday, does he have any idea what he’s trying to do, or does he just throw the ball?

  143. vl4eccjr says:

As soon as George Lopez gets in on the radio broadcast, Harang gives up the bomb. . .

  144. oldbrooklynfan says:

Have to get something going against Buehrle.

  145. oldbrooklynfan says:

Punto batting 1.000 as a Dodger.

  146. trublu4ever says:

  148. enchantedbeaver says:

    Just as pathetic as before.

Still can’t see these guys passing the Gnats.

    • trublu4ever says:

Come on, Beav….where’s your confidence? If we can get Harang past this inning without giving up a ton more runs, we’ve got this game.

  149. vl4eccjr says:

Buehrle is tough. They should do better against their bullpen.

  150. trublu4ever says:

Wow….thanks for that one Shane…just saved Harang’s ass for the moment!

  151. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Walk him.

  152. oldbrooklynfan says:

    U R I B E

  153. vl4eccjr says:

    Uribe got a hit!

  154. oldbrooklynfan says:

  155. trublu4ever says:

  156. DodgerZona says:

  165. DodgerZona says:

  166. oldbrooklynfan says:

  171. DodgerZona says:

  185. trublu4ever says:

Uh, oh….that may be the nail in the coffin!

  186. oldbrooklynfan says:

Now that makes it a little harder.

  187. vl4eccjr says:

  188. DodgerZona says:

  191. oldbrooklynfan says:

    One more chance….

  192. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Tying run on deck…………

  193. oldbrooklynfan says:

    Same old story
Unable to knock in those “Runners in scoring position”.

  194. DodgerZona says:

    Tomorrow is another day…Goodnight all

  195. crash24now says:

Giants lose 7-1. Still 2 games back.

  196. DodgerZona says:

  197. DodgerZona says:

By friday sorry….I agree Tru it better not be Wolf

  198. DodgerZona says:

All Wolf does is throw bp

  199. DodgerZona says:

    Harang sucks anyway

    • trublu4ever says:

As a whole, all the pitching sucks this season…..I don’t know if there will even be a 20 game winner. I think we have to do the best we can and, hope we can outscore the opponent.

  200. enchantedbeaver says:

Pitching is a big problem, but the bigger problem I see is that this team needs time to gel as a unit, and time is the one thing they don’t have. I’m still looking for this team to be more of a force in 2013.
