Let’s win this one guys…..GO DODGERS!
I had a split-second very negative feeling when I saw Juan listed at 1B. When I realized this was Rivera, it downgraded from very negative to just negative.
( đ )
With Blanton starting tomorrow, tonight’s game is almost a must-win.
….well, with Lincescum going for the gnats, it could be a toss-up.
Depends on if it’s the good one or the bad one that shows up.
Kersh is the man…..great glove and, now a hit! Love him!
Kersh with the bat, the arm, and the glove!
The run support will come shortly…..dammit, it has to!
BS….he was safe!
…if he was tagged on the knee…he was in there!
He got hosed on that call.
It’s getting to be a routine with the umps and us. I’m tired of it!
Watching the short interview with Magic, it still amazes me how much enthusiasm he brings to every thing he does. He still has alot of ‘little boy’ in him for sure. He’s still got alot to learn about baseball though.
Matty…..snap out of it! đ
Bumgarner’s deceptive delivery makes it harder to pick up the ball. He’s slow as hell too. Ranks up there with Josh Beckett.
……Cruz isn’t having any trouble đ
Sheeeit!
Sheeeit! That run should be charged to Hanley!
….they scored it a hit….what a joke to make an error a hit!
Now, I am really pissed…..these umpires must go! No way was he safe at home!
Matt’s swinging at ball four doesn’t help!
Kemp is not seeing the ball, new contacts. geez, its just too common now, SO on a ball in the dirt.
Rivera stinks!
Sorry, but there’s no way in Hell he’s an upgrade from Loney.
Exactly! I’d rather give Sands another chance if Donnie wants to do his platooning.
Oh boy, Uribe!
There aren’t enough expletives in my vocabulary!!!
……and, the boo-birds are chirping đ
Maybe squawking too đ
It’s time for some walk off magic!
Someone wave their magic wand while I cross my fingers & toes. . .
Thank you Hanley!
Thank you Hanley. At least we’re not shut out.
Kersh doesn’t deserve to lose this. If we don’t pull it out, it’s a shame.
Bumgarner’s defense bailed him out. If it wasn’t for Hanley’s defensive lapse, we’re tied & going into extras.
TIME TO STEP UP, JOE!!!!!
Jerry Sands was 5-6 last night. Why wait until September to bring him up?
Crap! Donnie Boy has used his wisdom to insert Adam Kennedy in the 2-hole of the lineup tonight.
Yuck. Now on to some news….heard Javy back to AAA….Ruby-Baby is back.
All the talk about Jerry Sands not being good enough at the major league level…….Juan Rivera isn’t exactly tearing it up and, we are wasting space on the bench with Uribe and Kennedy as well. Come to think of it, we have NO bench!
Any #2 hitter has a better mathematical chance of getting more ABs in a game than the #3, #4 hitters, etc. right on down the line. That’s why I love Donnie throwing away potential late-game ABs on Mark Ellis, Adam Kennedy, Juan Uribe last week, on and on. Hell, bat Cruz second if you won’t put Hanley there. Someone who can HIT. Someone who deserves an extra AB per game.
That makes too much sense for a dimwit like Donnie.
I continue to be amazed (and sometimes amused) at how often fans push for the guy not playing (even if he is in the minor leagues) over the guy who is playing when the guy who is not playing has not done anything significant to earn that spot. I am sure much of this is the belief that nothing could be worse than the guy who is playing when that guy is stinking up the place. I agree that some players may not get the chance to show what they can do but this is the big leagues where everyone knows how hard it is to reach and a lot harder to stay. Jerry Sands is a great story but he has not been able to take advantage of the opportunities he has had. Didn’t he have a job pretty much locked up coming into Spring training? He worked his way out of that job. Russ Mitchell is a great story, Blake DeWitt was a great story. But those guys fall short of the talent it takes to be an everyday major league player. Look how hard it was for Kemp and Ethier to not just crack the lineup but stay there.
Speaking of Kemp and Ethier, these two guys are the heart of this team because they are the fan favorites and they are now veterans. If these two players are producing, the lack of production from Loney or Rivera becomes much less of an issue. As improved as the Dodgers are now compared to what they were prior to all the moves, they are still not good enough when Kemp and Ethier are in a slump at the same time.
Don’t think Sands ever had a firm grip on left field birk. Right after they signed Rivera, Donnie pretty much said Juan was going to get the bulk of the playing time, and that was way before ST started..
Not that I’m a Sands fan, but I thought he did fairly well end of last season and at least deserved a shot at some regular playing time. All he’s had this season is a spot start here and there which IMO is setting him up to fail, just like Joe-Donnie-Ned have done to so many other youngsters.
Fans can be fickle, I can tell we are getting in to a real pennat race by the emotion showing up here, I love it. Kemp and Dre are fan favorites firstly for what they can, and have done on the field, I hoping they can deliver what I know they have tonight, any supporting help is welcome, like blanton pitching well, Han Ram fielding well, AJ getting the tag on the runner, and shane safely stealing a base. Even Uribe taking a walk is more than I expect of him. Lets Go Dodgers!
Hi Everybody.
I hope we can get that N.L.West lead back, tonight.
GO DODGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi OBF! I’m with you – gotta get that lead back and the good stuff going again. Hope that Matty gets out of his funk tonight and that we can knock Timmy the Toker out in the first inning. Go Dodgers!
Yes…..Go Dodgers, Go!
Shit, here we go already!
Yeah. Blanton was quite a pick up for the rotation. . . NOT!!!
Is Blanton pitching for us or against us?
More of the latter, I’d say.
It seems like Blanton did his job and now he’s settled down to pitch.
An I the only one on here or it a website problem?
I think every one got so disgusted with Blanton’s start, they went on to other things. I did for a bit.
I’m here đ Nothing positive to say right now.
I really wonder how long they will stick with Blanton in the rotation? I heard yesterday Lilly won’t be coming back. So, don’t you think we have somebody in our system who can do a better job?
They didn’t take long to give up on Fife. Blanton still fails to impress me. He may have done okay for the Phills in their WS years, but what has he done since besides being mediocre at best. . . . Another run! . . Need I say more?
Fife pitched just fine…but in the bizarro world of the twin-headed monster known as JoeDonnie, a veteran is always preferable to a a kid…….regardless of talent
I thought Fife did a good job too.
This game so far is going completely againstst us.
Hanley still sizzles while Matt continues to fizzle.
What a horrendous slump!
$20 bucks, bet Rivera hits into DP!
I knew it would piss him off đ
Finally somebody walked.
Let’s see if we can do something with the Giant bullpen.
Two more inning to come back from the dead.
Some days it’s painful being a Dodger fan.
Especially with Uribe as our hope for another base runner.
DFA…………..DFA………..DFA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Uribe again? Ohhhh the humanity!!!
When will this torture end?!!
They never seem to run out of lefthanded pitchers.
What’s up with the poor play at home since the All Star break?
This is a total about face from the beginning of the season.
WELL We’ll try again tomorrow .
Another big game and another dud from the Dodgers. Hard to figure. And besides what I said earlier, I agree that Fife certainly deserves another shot.
Dud, indeed, lbirk. I was thinking how very, very, very long ago 1988 seems, when LA had a team that was fiery and determined.
Blanton didn’t help himself by throwing the ball away, but he wasn’t exactly knocked around. You have to score to win and as long as Kemp and Ethier slump, we can expect more of this.
I saw a lack of agressiveness in the dodgers, The gnat runners challeged our outfield arms and won, Panda going 1st to 3rd on Dre not even a throw. So far the gnats have outpitched, outhit, outrun and outfielded the dodgers at every inning. Perhaps they can crack Cain but for now it is obvious why the gnats are ahead of the dodgers, and Pagan is sticking it in kemps face, although some light here Matty did get a hit to end his slump, little more to cheer about. I know we bitch about blanton, but it was the same story vs kershaw, we can’t put runs across the plate, it wasn’t like the dodgers got shelled, 4 runs come on, Unacceptable and pathetic.
Oh, no…..not again!
Think its time we face facts Tru. The Giants may not have any better team on paper than we do, maybe not even as good, but they have the desire to win whilst all we’ve got is Donnie offering up as much inspiration as Joe did. To top it off, we’ve also got Ned “Let’s trade the cow for some magic beans” Colletti, who brought us a sure loss every 5 games in Blanton.
Thing is, even if they make the playoffs, (A) they don’t deserve to be there because it took a gimmick to get them there in the form of a 2nd wild card, and (B) They’ll just be exposed for the poor team they are by whoever they play.
Its still my sincere hope that after the season Kasten really evaluates the “performances” of Donnie and Ned (along with 90% of the coaching staff) and cans the lot of them. Finishing out of the playoffs when Kasten gave them the opportunity to make a run at it should just about do it I would think.
I definitely think heads will roll when the season is over….thank goodness!
Down by three against their ace early ain’t good!
It’s just awful….puts a lot of pressure on our struggling offense.
Is that the game already? Pagan has had an , I cant say it
Hi Everybody
I’ve been having trouble getting MLB.TV up and I missed the Giants top of the first’s 3 runs. I guess that wasn’t something I would’ve enjoyed anyway.
I hope things change tonight so we can back in the race again.
I’m trying so hard to listen to this game (thank God it isn’t televised) but, my nerves are wearing thin. I love my Dodgers …… and, that is why it is so difficult for me when they play like shit!
I’m surprised you don’t have MLB.TV TB4Ever.
I do, OBF….plus Directv Extra Innings…..I just prefer to listen when Extra Innings isn’t on……my feed from MLB.TV is a little slower than the actual game đ
Oh that’s right you’re on the West Coast you can’t get the Dodgers.
I forgot.
I get almost all of the games. I think this is only the 2nd one I haven’t had live. Not too bad.
what area code are you? That inning, just shows how terrible they are, lead -off double, no score from kemp, dre or hanram. More shots! 2.5 out?
209
I meant on MLB.TV
Not good.
(_|_)~ ~ ~ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These games are truly unbelievable.
Lead off doubles are usually good things. Not so much as of late. đŚ
Pitifull!!
This game hurts!!!
All 3 of them have been painful! I don’t know who I’d fire first….the hitting coach or Bunnynutts!
Treanor should already catch Capuano and I’ve seen those numbers with Ellis catching him his catcher’s ERA is much higher and the BAA is .275 and with Treanor catching his ERA 3.15 and BAA of .215.
A.J. and Mark are the only ones hitting….Cappy has to suck it up!
I don’t care much about Treanor but I still think Capuano and Treanor have good chemistry together and seem to be on the right page.
I have to agree with you Shad. Caps is a whole different pitcher with Treanor than he is with AJ.
Don’t think any of us had our boys pegged for anything better than third place when ST opened. That’s what makes it even more frustrating now to be this close and then have them play like the third place team they really are. If Kemp and Kersh were having last year’s seasons this year, then they’d have a shot, but they’re not and all you’re left with is Hanley. They’re still seriously lacking a 1B, 3B, 2B, LF, 2-3 starters, a bench, and some decent middle relievers. Most of all they’re lacking a manager. I’m surprised Donnie can even manage his way home after the game.
I’m beginning to side with messagebear. This series is not an aberration; it’s business as usual. Year after year, decade after decade–nothing. And what kind of GM tells a newly-hired manager to bring his successor with him? Hell, why have a GM? Kasten ought to blow this whole thing up. Different approach. TheUncleJoe/DonnieBoy message is old and worn, as is the stale “vets play over kids” mentality. This is now a game of athletic young players. The Dodgers under McCourt/Ned/Joe/Donnie always seemed to look backward.
Finally…a hit for Dre! A double (30) for 6 consecutive seasons and Hanley brings him home….yay..no shut out!
Rubby could be a good story here.
The Dodgers inability to draw walks is phenominal.
How come everytime we get ahead of the count or given them a 3 balls count they always seem to get hit/walks. It like everytime they get a 3-2 count the next pitch is nowhere near the strike zone.
Ethier is hitting .472 (25/53) against Cain why not hit him 2nd tonight? I don’t see anything wrong with it and have Hanley bat clean up sorry Mark.
Donnie wouldn’t hit Mark anywhere but second if his life depended on it. You see, Mark’s a #2 hitter – it says so right there in the field manager’s guide for dummies Joe left him.
I don’t think Mark has been the same since he got injury and had to miss some time on the DL.

I was wrong, Ribby Rub me wRong
POOF!!
G’night all!!
That Catch by christian of rivera will make the highlight reel
lol you can’t be seriously Bochy still bring in the lefty to face Ethier ahead by 6 runs.
Of course Ethier get a hit.
There’s always one available.
A lefty to face Ethier that is.
Yep an Affedt is the oldest LHP in there bullpen.
A WALK.
Im listening to this kruk guy on the TV, and he is instigating some future retaliation for the high pitch to scutero, what a krock, just like these SF announcers to make whoop about much a do
Swept twice is one season by the gnats, when was that last time? CRAP!
Good night all.
The articles I’m seeing this morning and the posts on here are saying the Dodgers have not played this series with any kind of intensity while the Giants did. Then Lyle goes on to ask if the the Dodgers can be as tough as the Giants. So right now the Giants, while playing short handed, are better, more focused, tougher. I’d post this in the club house and add the words gut check time on the bottom. We shall see.
Good thing there’s a day off between the last series and the Marlins. Our team should be thinking about what they want to accomplish this season and how to do it; Mattingly’s excuses are not palatable and don’t hold water!
Jerry Hairston is getting hip surgery and is out for the season. I guess that’s why Uribe is still hanging around.
I’m sure everyone has heard the news that we won the right to claim Adrian Gonzalez from the Sox……so, 48 hours….will he be a Dodger or not?
Probably not. But it is nice to dream about a Dodger team that does not have the black hole at 1B that currently is defined by Loney/Rivera.
I doubt it, but I’d gladly give them Loney, Gordon and Guerra to get it done. There are absolutely NO free agent first basemen worth having this coming offseason, so why not pull out the stops and get one you know can hit?
Geez, I’d even add Uribe to that list.
Beckett claimed by us too!
For all we know, this may be an exercise in futility since the Sox can pull them back. But it’s nice to dream . . . at least about Gonzalez.
Part of the exercise of claiming these guys is so the Giants can’t have any opportunity to get them. Why they even publicize it though is beyond me. Probably want it to seem like Neddy’s doing his job.
Not saying this is true, just posting an article:
Dodgers, Red Sox near blockbuster
http://espn.go.com/boston/mlb/story/_/id/8300112/adrian-gonzalez-carl-crawford-josh-beckett-nearing-boston-red-sox-exit-sources-say
The Dodgers and Red Sox are closing in on a deal to send Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto to Los Angeles, though a few hurdles remain before it’s official, multiple baseball sources said Friday.
“I think something is happening, but I’m in a state of disbelief that it is,” one baseball source said Friday.
Dodgereric just sent me the same story. AGon I can understand. Crawford? Why the only reason we’d need Crawford is if they were going to trade Dre…
Of course the moral of the story is, Boston didn’t exactly win anything these last couple of years with these guys.
Ken Rosenthal is discussing all of this right now…..he thinks it is very close to happening. Be interesting to see who Boston gets.
4:52pm: Boston would send some cash to Los Angeles if the sides complete a deal Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports reports. Morosi confirms that the sides are close to a trade (Twitter links).
Crawford is injured until sometime next season. Victorino is a FA next season.
As before, we need to keep our two best pitching prospects. And DeLaRosa. If a guy is on the big club, is he still a prospect?

Red Sox source: Red Sox would get 5 Dodgers but still hurdles
Posted by Michael Silverman at 5:10 pm
A Red Sox source has confirmed that the Red Sox and Dodgers are currently talking about a mega-deal that would send Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto to the Dodgers.
In exchange, the Red Sox will receive five players from the Dodgers. It remains unknown what the breakdown is between prospects and major-leaguers.
Medical records are currently being reviewed. If the records pass muster, then the Red Sox still need to have both Beckett and Crawford sign off on a trade since they each have veto power.
ESPN/Boston was the first to report about the blockbuster.
New thread, Crash….you should repost this.
