Loving Cruz at 3rd……let’s hope Donnie keeps it that way!

  2. trublu4ever says:

Dodgers were awarded waiver claim on Cliff Lee……deal or no deal?

  3. DodgerZona says:

Cruz at 3rd….I’m sure donnie won’t keep it that way Tru but will c…..Cliff Lee hmmmm…..Lot’s of $ left on his contract but we need pitching….We got Blanton what else do you want lol

  4. DodgerZona says:

According to Fox Sports, the Dodgers claimed Lee off waivers, which means the Dodgers would be responsible for the remaining $100 million of his contract if Philadelphia wanted him gone with no players in return. But Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. indicated he would revoke the waivers.

“It’s irrelevant. He’s not going anywhere,” Amaro said.

  5. enchantedbeaver says:

What? Is Philadelphia the new Boston for us?

  6. kahliforni says:

    Blanton instead?!?!?!?!?!? Oh well…….

  7. trublu4ever says:

The Phillies pulled back Lee. Surprise, surprise!

  8. lbirken says:

Sometimes the game away from the game is more entertaining. Putting players on waivers this time of year seems like an annual rite of passage for GM’s and their organizations or at best a form of keeping the juices flowing after the non-waiver trade deadline. It is like using players as puppets on the one hand and a rolling dice on the other. Why put a player on waivers if you have no intention of going through with it? From what I can tell it is a form of strategy to test the market. Teams have been known to claim a player they really don’t want just to keep another team from claiming that same player, hoping all the time that the waiver will be revoked.

With that being said, T.J. Simers, who feels about the same way Enchanted does towards the Dodger’s new ownership group, actually encouraged the Dodgers to take Lee with his outrageous salary and contract. Simers even admitted it was a stupid thing to do financially but felt that by doing so a clear message would be sent that ownership was serious in trying to make the Dodgers into a winner. Is Lee worth all the money he is due?

  9. koufax1963 says:

Thanks Tru we needed this.! Blanton not thrilled, but lets put him to the mound and see, I doubt they will hit more HRs at the ravine then at philly off him. Cliff Lee Too much money for the age. Hanley at short and cruz at 3rd, donnie are you waking up?, that might be the best move of the week for you. Its a 3 team race now, and I don’t see the dodgers pitching staff coming through in October. But lets have fun till the end!

    • trublu4ever says:

I would love for Donnie to keep this lineup for at least a week and see what it can do….I think it would work. But, knowing Mattingly, it will change tomorrow,

  10. trublu4ever says:

Watching the Dbacks/Phillies game and, boy, the homeplate ump just blew a call that would have tied the game for the Phills, Once again, I have to say, this season is by far the worst umpiring I’ve ever seen.

  11. trublu4ever says:

Dbacks won…..Gnats winning……get this win Dodgers!

  12. trublu4ever says:

    Whew….escaped the first inning!

  13. Hi everybody
We can all use that much needed push but the Dodgers might need it more. A lot of action by the front office but not much on the field.

  14. trublu4ever says:

    Thank-you, A.J.!

  15. enchantedbeaver says:

I swear Ned could go out and get Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Ted Williams and as soon as they put on a Dodger uni, they’d suck.

  16. enchantedbeaver says:

Just about time for the implosion.

  17. vl4eccjr says:

    Way to hustle Hanley!

  18. vl4eccjr says:

  36. A much needed victory.

  37. DodgerZona says:

Did you hear Bob Brenley..I was watching on wgn…He said Hanley goofs off to much…Typical gnat brenley

  38. trublu4ever says:

Donnie almost gave us the same lineup….just put Hairston at 3rd for Cruz. To make room for Blanton, Fife was sent down.

  39. trublu4ever says:

    Let’s go Dodgers, let’s go!

  40. koufax1963 says:

  46. trublu4ever says:

    Thank-you, Hanley!

  47. DodgerZona says:

  50. trublu4ever says:

Wow…Kenley was hot! Way to go boys!

  51. DodgerZona says:

    There u go…Nice win boys

  52. Beli was good; Kenley was great! Still hanging – the team is doing what they have to do, and that is win. Can’t depend on anyone helping us if we don’t help ourselves.

  53. DodgerZona says:

    Arash Markazi ‏@ArashMarkazi

James Loney just got to Dodgers clubhouse. Shane Victorino looks at wrist and says, “You MFers better start showing up earlier around here.”

  54. DodgerZona says:

Hopefully that will light a fire under Loney’s arse

  55. DodgerZona says:

Dodgers lineup: ShaneVictorino LF, M Ellis 2B, Kemp CF, Ethier RF, HanleyRamirez SS, Loney 1B, Cruz 3B, AJEllis17 C, Blanton P

  56. enchantedbeaver says:

Is it too early to say that Blanton sucks?

  57. DodgerZona says:

    LOL enchanted

  58. DodgerZona says:

So far he’s not looking good at all

  59. trublu4ever says:

Our old buddy Juanpy scored the winning run in the Phillies’ defeat of the Dbacks!

  60. enchantedbeaver says:

I’m sure as hell not seeing any difference in the offense.

  61. enchantedbeaver says:

Thought Blanton was supposed to be a control pitcher.

  62. nedisajerk says:

The HP ump isn’t helping much.

  63. enchantedbeaver says:

Powerful offense. Can any of these guys even hit off a tee?

  64. DodgerZona says:

CB Buckner,Dale Scott are 2 of the worst in MLB…Were getting hosed

  70. DodgerZona says:

    You got that right enchanted

  71. DodgerZona says:

    Good eye Juan

  72. DodgerZona says:

    Yesssssssssssssssss…Cruz

  73. koufax1963 says:

Our dynamic duo was not very keen that inning, thank god for cruz, not sure mattingly gets genious points for PH riveria for lonely, but he played the match up and riveria eeked out a walk. Cruz certainly earned his pay, so glad uribe didnt come in, that I will credit to donnie.

  74. trublu4ever says:

    Cruz is a keeper!

  75. enchantedbeaver says:

Here goes Donnie – time to blow through the bullpen.

  76. trublu4ever says:

Damn, Javy….do you have to prove Beav right?! 😉

  77. kahliforni says:

Does anyone trust Guerra anymore? He’s really slipped down…

  78. trublu4ever says:

    There goes my Dre!

  79. nedisajerk says:

Do my eyes deceive me Ethier got a double against a LHP? You could had actually took a pitch Rivera.

  80. DodgerZona says:

Dammit Jansen…Will be lucky if we win this

  81. trublu4ever says:

    Wow…what a finish!

  82. DodgerZona says:

    Hanleyyyyyyyyyyyy

  83. koufax1963 says:

well the dynamic duo, came through afterall. hanley joins the party too. whew! I hope the dodgers don’t continue the trend of losing 3 after winning 3. all is cool in dodgerland!

  84. nedisajerk says:

Rockies SP’s combined for 24 QS and of course that the worst in major. Rockies bullpen have pitched 405 2/3 innings not including today game. Royals are 2nd in the major with 398 1/3 but the Braves are 2nd in the NL with 334 1/3.

    • nellyjune says:

All starting pitchers are pulled after 75 pitches, and everyday I watched them over the weekend, that is exactly what happened. Even today, Tim Lincecum was up to bat and sure enough, they changed pitchers because the starting pitchers was at 76 pitches. It’s got to be crazy enough being at pitcher for this team right now, but the position players have got to be just beside themselves. I actually feel kind of bad for this team…….but then again, we need to win. Go Dodgers!!

  85. nellyjune says:

Nice to have a sweep this weekend. That was much needed after the Dbacks did the same damage to us earlier in the week.

  86. trublu4ever says:

Just heard Jerry Sands called up…..TGJ DFA.

    • enchantedbeaver says:

Odd move don’t you think Tru? Its obvious Sands isn’t going to play the OF now, and I sure don’t think they’re going to play him everyday at first (maybe I’m wrong.) I’m just surprised Gwynn gets the axe considering he’s signed through next season, and Victorino’s only a 2012 rental. I thought Gwynn brought a helluva lot more to the table than Uribe.

I see Puig hit a pair of HRs in rookie ball the other day.

      • trublu4ever says:

Very strange, indeed. I do think they will play him at first (to me he’d be better than Rivera)…..poor James, the odd man out! What happens Thursday, when Kennedy is supposed to come off the DL? I’d DFA him too.

      • nedisajerk says:

I guess Uribe defense and him playing multiple position is valuable but we don’t need him and I would still cut him and have Abreu to PH and DH if we make it that far. I hate to say this but I would keep Kennedy for insurance over Uribe. Kennedy would be a FA and Uribe still have 1 more year. If DeJesus or Herrea come back no choice here you have to DFA Kennedy. I think Kennedy is trying his best but there is just no hope with Uribe.

    • kahliforni says:

This certainly comes out of left field, pardon the pun. Not a big Sands fan…not exactly your gifted, fluid, natural athlete…kind of a Clydesdale…as for Uribe, maybe he has incriminating photos.

  87. enchantedbeaver says:

Here’s a thought… do you put Dee back a shortstop next year and move Ramirez back to third, or do you go out and sign David Wright and kick Dee to the curb? Or do you try and trade Dee for Headley?

  88. trublu4ever says:

Hanley likes short….if he is happy, he will hit put up awesome numbers. I’m not a Gordon fan, so, I’d go for Wright or Headley.

    • trublu4ever says:

…..just a thought, I’m not sure if Mark Ellis as a one year addition, or if he will be asked back….however, if Dee could play 2nd base ….that may solve part of our problem…..Hanley at short, Dee, 2nd and Headley or Wright at 3rd…..not too bad, huh?

  89. messagebear says:

The problem with Dee is that he can’t field and he can’t hit – so what good is he no matter which position he plays? He’s an over-hyped prospect which has been the pattern under McCourt and Ned. If Dee has a future in the majors, he should go back and prove it in the minors.

    • enchantedbeaver says:

Compared to many this team carries annually, Dee’s a regular sultan of swat, but yeah, I don’t think he’s going to be much more than a .275 hitter on a good year. His fielding was always the one big reservation I had about him – his glove in the minors was just as atrocious.

As long as money is no object, and we have this kid Seager working his way up, I’d have to say that I’d be finding me a third baseman for next year. I do think there’d be enough clubs out there though that would be interested in Dee that I wouldn’t give him away. I think they could work a trade with him for Headley. Wright would be OK for a couple years, but he’s another guy you’d be paying for his good years with the Mets during his declining years.

Think Sands is auditioning for 1B next year?
