    Let’s get Eovaldi some runs!

  2. trublu4ever says:

I get to watch our pre-game show but, as soon as the game starts, the bay area TV rights takes over and I have to listen to Krud & Krap….so, please, Dodgers….WIN THIS GAME!

  3. nellyjune says:

Have I said before how much I hate the series against the gnats?! Please, please…….please win at least this first one against Zito.
    Let’s go Dodgers, let’s go!!

  4. trublu4ever says:

Listening to Orel doing the College World Series and, boy, it would be greaat to get him as our pitching coach!

  5. trublu4ever says:

Damn, first inning and my stomach already hurts.

  6. nellyjune says:

Did I mention I’m in a roomful of gnat fans?! Good Lord!!! How f’in lucky can one team be? A bloop single and a ball that hits first base like that! The only good thing is Zito is pitching, and maybe, just maybe our bats will show up eventually. Uugghhh!!

  7. trublu4ever says:

    UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. The Giants are looking for Nate’s fastball because everything else is missing the plate.

  9. Yeah, Tru, it’d be great to have a real pitching coach like Orel rather than having an astronaut like Honeycutt try to fill the position. I say “astronaut” because all he does is take up space 😉

  10. trublu4ever says:

    H-E-L-P !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is pathetic!

  11. vl4eccjr says:

Congrats to the Arizona Wildcats on winning the CWS! Starting with a positive.
On the negative side, we couldn’t ask for a more horrible start for this series with the Giants. The wheels came off early. . .

  12. koufax1963 says:

OMG! WTF! If gordon makes his plays this game would not be out of hand. Cmon Dodgers Lets get this rally started. One shot of tequila down.

  13. It would be nice to not be shut out – but scoring one or two runs sounds even more pathetic than scoring none. At least IMHO.

  14. koufax1963 says:

Loney PH , when abreu is there??? zito surprised me how well he pitched.

  15. vl4eccjr says:

It’s a no brainer Dodger fans. When Uribum is in the line up, the offense goes south. 😦
Mark Ellis & Matt Kemp need to return ASAP. There is no spark or fire now.

  16. kahliforni says:

This team has been making pitchers look great for about two weeks now. It’s who these hitters are. PVLs and AAA kids. The patchwork quilt line-up is fraying and the reality of Ned’s creation has bared itself. Gonna be a slog to the All-Star break. Dodger fans can only hope Kasten ha something–or two–up his trading sleeve.

  17. 32and53fan says:

The team is now playing like we all expected them to in March. They need to bear down and figure out how to stay on top until after the All Star Game.

  18. grizzy says:

Shut out? Again? The above posts pretty much say it all.

I do not hold much hope for winning this series. We know what we’ll get from Kershaw. I’m for making Billingsly walk back to
LA if he turns in another sub par performance. And have his gear packed and waiting at the front gate. Actually you could create quite a list of those who could be walking, but in reality, this what we’ve got until the deadline.

  19. We may be in a horrendous slump, but life is much better being two games up than two games back – no matter how fleeting it may be.

  20. Rosie says:

    Hello All,
The Boss is out, time to catch up on my Dodger reading and posting. Worst time, wish it could have been on a positive day. Dodger’s bats and pitching are cooling off. They need the break. They started out with lots of energy and they just ran out. Come on boys….let’s take this series. First place trophy is slowly fading away and third place isn’t far behind. I love Dee but I just feel that he is toooo over excited. I feel that he wants the super hero attention more, then to win the game as a team. Dee take it easy and be a team player. Love how he is super quick but if he sees that the outfield has a better play, move out of the sooner, let the outfield make that diving catch. Instead they are slowing down afraid to collide with Dee. Pitchers just relax, don’t rush! I so miss Mark Ellis and Kemp. Wish they can hurry back, but hey I wish them to come back once they are ready….we need them for the long run. Well I hope Mattingly gave the players a good good lecture last night, they so deserve it. Now lets keep fighting to Win….LET’S GO DODGERS! BEAT THE GNATS! BEAT THE GNATS! BEAT THE GNATS!

  21. trublu4ever says:

Good job, Rosie. Great to see you again!

  22. Rosie says:

    THANKS TRU. Miss ya’ll!

  23. enchantedbeaver says:

Hope they hired him as a coach and not a player, though he probably would still be a step up from Uribe:

  24. trublu4ever says:

Let’s hope this lineup will help us get a win tonight:
    Gordon, ss
    Herrera, 3b
    Ethier, rf
    Rivera, 1b
    Abreu, lf
    Hairston, 2b
    TGJ, cf
    Ellis, c
    Kershaw, p

  25. lbirken says:

Trying to think of something clever and insightful to say after that crummy performance last night. I suppose the good news is I wasn’t there in person. Let’s hope for a better game tonight.

  26. vl4eccjr says:

Is it just me, or is Vogelsong slow as hell? Flashbacks of Alejandro Pena!

  27. trublu4ever says:

James isn’t even playng tonight…must really be in Donnie’s doghouse. Maybe he’s being traded. Just wondering……someone says if he’s not playing you can’t showcase him….well, I think, the way he’s been playing it’s better to hide him 😉

  28. trublu4ever says:

    Damn…a dinger for them!

  29. vl4eccjr says:

    Sheeeeeit!!!

  30. vl4eccjr says:

Could have been much worse. That surely was a filthy pitch for that last strikeout!

  31. kahliforni says:

Not much anyone can say watching this offensive offense…

  32. Yup. I can see where premiere free agents will want to flock to L.A.

  33. What do Captain Smith and Don Mattingly have in common?

  34. lbirken says:

Will this be another game in which a Dodger pitcher would have to pitch a shutout just to stay even?

  35. vl4eccjr says:

    Somethings gotta give here!!!
WTF is it going to take to wake these guys up to get out of this offensive funk?
I say call in Tommy to go into a rant & light a fire.

  36. kahliforni says:

July 31 feels light years away…but Ned always seems to wait until the final seconds to do ANYTHING…why?

  37. kahliforni says:

Maybe we can channel a ninth-inning rally with nonsense dusted off from the past, ala Carnac, the magnificent:

    “Catch-22…

What do the Los Angeles Dodgers do with 100 pop flies.”

  38. kahliforni says:

OK, that didn’t work. F**k it. Maybe Lasorda can coach third base tomorrow…

  39. vl4eccjr says:

    Pfffffffffffffffffttt!!!
    Another stinking shutout!

  40. lbirken says:

    21 scoreless innings and counting.

  41. I see Zach Lee has been promoted to AA, ostensibly to showcase him for a big trade at the deadline.

Ahhh, way to go Ned. Maybe package him with Sands for a real difference maker like Dotel.

  42. Rosie says:

June is not our month. Hopefully July is. Haven’t lost hope, they are only human and they just all went on a slump at the same time. Kershaw was great. Got hit and still stuck it out.

  43. Almost game time . . . . let’s go Dodgers!!!

  44. Rosie says:

    Hope the LA bats arrived

  45. crash24now says:

Uh-oh – what happened to Dre?

  46. Rosie says:

It’s more like Uh-oh – what happened to the Dodgers?

  47. trublu4ever says:

    We really suck right now!

  48. Rosie says:

    we lost “The Magic”….

  49. crash24now says:

Billz tries and fails to score. Scoreless innings streak runs to 24.

  50. crash24now says:

    Poof – thar she blows

  51. Dre’s left oblique is tweaked. Long-term healing process – bleh!!!

  52. Rosie says:

Don’t understand in the movies Captain America (Billz) wins and Loki (Lincecum) looses. Please I want a Happy L.A. Ending!

  53. lbirken says:

The Dodgers can ill afford to lose Ethier but then again, they have not done much lately with him.

  54. Well, there will go what’s left of the farm for a couple of hasbeens to propel us to another 3rd place finish.

I’ve finally decided that if they trade Zach Lee for more garbage that I AM through with the Dodgers for good. This has gone on more than long enough and this loser organization doesn’t deserve loyal fans.

  55. vl4eccjr says:

Three lugnuts gone. The wheel’s barely holding on. . . .

  56. vl4eccjr says:

    Pffffffffffffffffftttt!!! Another stinker!
30 consecutive scoreless innings is way beyond pathetic. . .

  57. lbirken says:

When Vinny says the Dodgers will be limping back to Los Angeles he won’t be exaggaterating.

  58. kahliforni says:

Very depressing, even for life-long Dodger fans. Three shutouts at the hands of the Gnats?????

  59. kahliforni says:

Kasten was on post-game Dodger Talk. Priority 1 was the draft…now complete. Priority 2 is International (which McCourt completely ignored)…completed by July 2. Both are meant to re-stock the woeful minor leagues. Priority 3 is trades, culminating in the July 31 deadline. So don’t look for any to happen over the weekend, trade wise.

  60. lbirken says:

Firing someone is not going to make these players better, although even crappy teams on a losing streak usually manage to score some runs. Donnie benched Loney yesterday even though the numbers against Vogelsong said James should be in there. The pitching has not been all that bad and except for Monday, the games have been close.

Kasten has said a priority is to rebuild the minor league system. This will take time but it is the correct course of action. Because the Dodgers play in a weak division they might still be able to compete and make the playoffs.

    • trublu4ever says:

I still don’t understand what the hell Donnie is doing. I know the players are responsible for hitting the ball but, putting some of those lineups out there are mind boggling as you say lbirken. I agree James should have been in there last night…..I don’t think Uribe should ever play again for us…….Dee is a lousy leadoff man and Kennedy should just be let go!

      • lbirken says:

I think it is clear what Donnie is trying to do: win games with whatever crappy players he has available. He sat Loney yesterday knowing the stats and knowing James is better defensively at first but also knowing James has not done much of anything at the plate. When the Dodgers had the 7 game lead almost everything Donnie did worked. The career minor leaguers got a chance to play and delivered. Unfortunately, the novelty of those guys has run its course and they are what they are. As for Uribe, I wonder myself how much longer the Dodgers will put him out there.

  61. grizzy says:

Don’t know if I can take many more road trips like this.

  62. kahliforni says:

When a team struggles with the bat, many managers will hit and run, if for no other reason than to get batters swinging instead of over thinking and guessing. Mattingley’s in love with he bunt, but he seems very timid otherwise. And Gordon seems absolutely lost trying to steal bases lately.

    Otherwise, an absolutely perfect team!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!?

  63. Are they using bats or toothpicks? That’s all I want to know . . . .

  64. grizzy says:

I don’t think firing anybody at this point will make any difference either. Donny’s doing the best he can with what he’s got. I also agree Ned ought to be fired should he trade Lee for some 34 yr old on the back side of his career.
    *
Maybe it IS time for Reggie Smith to come in and throw a tantrum.

    • I disagree Griz. Since you can’t fire the team, its time new ownership draws a line in the sand and says enough’s enough starting with Ned and Donnie. This organization is broken from the top down, and there’s no time like the present to start raizing the structure and starting over. I’ll gladly take 2-4 years of struggling youngsters if out the other end we’ll have something to be proud of. The mediocrity’s got to stop. Ned’s Ned and we all know what a buffoon he is, but Donnie hasn’t a clue how to manage and never will. He can’t help it, he learned from Joe. The time is right to call it a season and take your lumps rather than put them out on the field.

  65. trublu4ever says:

Don’t panic folks…help is on the way…the Dodgers just signed 21 year old Cuban Yasiel Puig….rumor has it he is the real deal… a player similar to Cespedes of the A’s.

  66. DodgerZona says:

Jon Heyman ‏ Yasiel Puig is considered a 5-tool player. ‪#dodgers‬ winning bid of $42M for 7 yrs apparently wasnt even his highest offer.

  67. crash24now says:

Put Puig in right field TONIGHT. He certainly can’t make the offense any worse.

  68. grizzy says:

enchanted-I’m 50/50 on Ned. If he were to try to start dumping the minor league players for some stop gap PVLs, then send him down the road. I think Donny should finish out the year. It cannot possibly stay this bad.

You’ve mentioned trout fishing before, and I’ve wondered what rivers and streams you fish in. My daughter and I go up on the La Sal Mtns, which are close by. They are a bit of the Rockies that got away. There are some small lakes and streams that have browns, rainbows, and brook trout. I’d like to have a go at fly fishing sometime, but there isn’t much in the way of open area for a beginner to learn. Just wondered what methods you used.

    • I’m pretty much a stream fisherman for trout anymore – an old bait/lure guy with ultralight spinning rod and reel. Never learned to fly fish, but my son’s heavily into it (he has a buddy that became a professional guide up in Oregon.) I know they make shorter flyrods/bushrods that are more suited to smaller tighter spaces, but none of that equipment is cheap from what I’ve seen. Mostly I think you’ll have to don waders and get out in the stream in order to gain enough room to practice and get the rhythm down. I know a lot of the places my son goes he has to do that to get away from the overgrowth along the banks. He absolutely loves fly fishing though and I haven’t seen him go back to my way since he learned.

I’m up here in the Sierras where there’s plenty of streams. Unfortunately they don’t stock rainbows like they used to so its not like it was 10 years ago (then again, I’m not either!) Still fun though. The best fishing is in the Eastern Sierra (I’m on the west slope) from Bishop on up to Bridgeport. There are some native brown trout reserves, and up around the resorts they stock quite a few Alpers rainbows in the 2-10lb range.

If you’ve got someone that can show you the ropes a little bit, just get out there and have fun!

      • kahliforni says:

Not to mention Bishop to Bridgeport is one incredibly awe-inspiring landscape.

If all goes well, looks like the Dodgers have their outfield set for a few years…young and athletic. Now about 1st and 3rd………..

        • Got some real diversity from Bishop to Bridgeport that’s for sure. Driving up and over Tioga, Ebbetts, or Sonora pass to get to the other side has some gorgeous sites as well.

Think I’m gonna call the new guy Captain Puig. And then there was the incident with the strawberries…

  69. grizzy says:

My daughter and I also use the ultra light gear with bait and lures. I have some old garcia rods and mitchell garcia reel. We’ll probably go up to a small lake in the LaSals this weekend. It’s a bit of a hike, so no one is hardly ever ever there. I’ve been to your area in the past. Awfully nice.

    • I’m jealous. Not many places here you can get away from people. Cherish the time with your daughter – my son’s (and daughter for that matter) done growed up on me and lives/works down in L.A., so we don’t get together to do much fishing anymore. We met up over in Bishop for a few days last year, but that’s the last time we’ve been. When he was little we’d start about 7 in the morning and not get home til dusk. My folks lived up here back then and when we drug our butts home late for dinner one time I heard my dad say to my mom, “those are the two fishingest bastards I’ve ever seen.” Well the name stuck and from then on we were known as the fishing bastards. He and I still laugh about that, though you could never accuse either one of us of missing dinner anymore.

  70. lbirken says:

Pardon me for interrupting the fishing theme here but this talk of signing the young Cuban player raises a question I have about the way Major League baseball conducts business. Let me preface my remarks by making it clear I want to see the best players on the field regardless of where they are from and I have always hoped that one day Cuban players would have the freedom to play in the U.S. without having to defect. However, why is it that foreign players are not subject to the same draft rules as U.S. players? Why is it that the Cuban and Japanese players can sell themselves to the highest bidder but the American players can’t? The NBA subjects foreign players to the draft. Is this part of their collective bargaining agreement?

  71. messagebear says:

    Interesting question, birk.
    My answer: MLB has rules?

  72. DodgerZona says:

    Dodgers‬ lineup: Gordon 6, Herrera 5, Rivera 7, Loney 3, Van Slyke 9, Kennedy 4, Treanor 2, Gwynn 8, Capuano 1.

  73. DodgerZona says:

    Kennedy ugh

  74. crash24now says:

    Loweeney batting cleanup? Double ugh.
