Watch out for snakes!

It is spring and rattlesnakes are once again active in California.  If you venture outdoors, keep in mind a few safety tips:

  • Never go barefoot or wear sandals when walking through wild areas. Wear hiking boots.
  • When hiking, stick to well-used trails and wear over-https://outsidethedodgers.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.phpthe-ankle boots and loose-fitting long pants. Avoid tall grass, weeds and heavy underbrush where snakes may hide during the day.
  • Do not step or put your hands where you cannot see, and avoid wandering around in the dark. Step ON logs and rocks, never over them, and be especially careful when climbing rocks or gathering firewood. Check out stumps or logs before sitting down, and shake out sleeping bags before use.

RotoRooter may charge a little extra to clear this blockage!

Though the most common rattlesnake in the Los Angeles area is the  Southern Pacific Rattlesnake (Crotalus helleri ) , a cousin of theirs, the Western Diamond-backed Rattlesnake (Crotalus atrox) is now in town in the form of their baseball team namesake.

Clayton Kershaw takes to the mound for the opening game of the series with the D’Backs.

Matt Kemp was scheduled for an MRI to check how much damage there is to his hamstring.  He needs to end his consecutive game streak and rest for a few days to make sure he does not reinjure it. His personal desire to keep the streak going is not the potential risk of him being lost to the team for several months.

With Kemp slumping, it is fortunate that A.J. Ellis, Bobby Abreu and even Juan Uribe have contributed offensively lately.

Roto Rooter should charge less – there’s already snakes down the pipe!

Not a bad idea either if you live in the foothills or take your dog hiking a lot to have them vaccinated for rattlesnakes.

  2. trublu4ever says:

Speaking of snakes. mlb Network seems to think our new owners will keep Ned. This is the final year of his contract. However, in most instances, these reporters are hardly ever right. One good thing they did say is that they haven’t actually said much of anything they are going to do. Confusing? Yes….but, it’s typical when Dodger news is reported.

    • 32and53fan says:

So far, Kasten is in evaluation mode. He is cordial with Colletti for now but if, after his due diligence he determines that a better GM can be hired, I have no doubt he will make a change.
I have noticed that a lot of comments made by the Dodger announcers on the pre and post game shows focus on the good pickups that Ned has made instead of dredging up the horror stories of signings gone bad.

  3. messagebear says:

A wait and see attitude is understandable by the new ownership in most areas, particlarly when the team is doing so well. On the other hand, guys like Conte should have been a foregone conclusion for firing if the new ownership did any kind of due diligence evaluation before their bid. I’m only afraid that Conte’s judgment can foul up somebody like Matt for the season, and where are we then.

    • crash24now says:

Come on bear, he only fouled up Andre for two years.

      • crash24now says:

Another nail in Conte’s coffin: Rafael Furcal

        – Steady Eddie in Atlanta
        – Became a broken, brittle old man in LA
        – Back to Steady Eddie, in fact, superstar in St Louis.

Is Matty a day-to-day or will he go on the DL?

      • crash24now says:

No news so far. Stay tuned.

        • nellyjune says:

Not that we don’t need Matt (we certainly do!), but this would have been the perfect opportunity to do Eric’s plan and have had TGJ leading off and Gordon batting 8th.
          GO DODGERS!!

          • 32and53fan says:

            From Foxsportwest.com:
Manager Don Mattingly doesn’t plan to make a habit of benching Gordon, nor does he plan to move Gordon from the leadoff spot despite the low on-base percentage.

“Dropping Dee in the order sounds really easy, but who do I hit there? I really don’t have a leadoff guy,” Mattingly said. “If I had an alternative, I’d consider it. I still have to think about it

          • trublu4ever says:

I thought a lead-off guy was supposed to take pitches and get on base…..speed doesn’t matter if you strike out….TGJ did okay…hell, A.J could do it too. Donnie just has a man-crush on Dee and, doesn’t want to admit he isn’t ready for prime-time yet.

    • sparkleplenty1 says:

Hope these guys come through for Kersh like they did for Lilly yesterday. GO BLUE!!

  5. crash24now says:

Uribe is now on the DL. Who won the sweepstakes on this? Somebody picked May 15th.

I guess the lineup above is now false.

Elian Herrera has been called up from AAA. Still no word on Kemp.

  6. enchantedbeaver says:

Who does VanSlyke need to kill to get in the line-up?

I WILL be surprised if they score more than a run tonight.

  7. oldbrooklynfan says:

I guess we’re all waiting to see what’s the latest on Kemp. We got a good lead on the Giants, so I think this a good time to rest Kemp. If he he needs to go on the DL, that will be better than losing him for a longer length of time.

  8. trublu4ever says:

    Per MSTI…..Ellis moves up….Uribe moves out 😉

  9. 32and53fan says:

    Tweet from Magic:
    Earvin Magic Johnson ‏ @MagicJohnson
@TheRealMattKemp should rest his hamstring & get back 100% healthy.

    My reply:
    Is that an order?

    • trublu4ever says:

Kenny Lofton said it is is lower hammie….and, he thinks he should rest it too. However, he says knowing Matt, he will try to play as soon as possible. So, we shall see.

  10. trublu4ever says:

    Ha….I pulled a Beav…I knew if I bad mouthed Dee, he’d get a hit 🙂

  11. enchantedbeaver says:

    There’s your run Sandy.

  12. enchantedbeaver says:

Damn. I was hoping Gwynn would walk. I’d much rather see Kersh up there with men on than Kennedy.

  13. trublu4ever says:

    Awesome….TGJ & A.J.!

  14. nedisajerk says:

Dang at Broxton ERA/WHIP when is he going to blow a game for the Royals.

  15. enchantedbeaver says:

Jeez. Is Kennedy all the better we can put out there at third?

  16. trublu4ever says:

    ANDRE!!!!!!! THANK-YOU!

  17. trublu4ever says:

Come on, now, bring A.J. home too!

  18. vl4eccjr says:

Whew! The Lakers are receiving a terrible beat down!

  19. trublu4ever says:

Okay….1 run for them is enough! Don’t blow this for Kersh!!!!

  20. vl4eccjr says:

    Sheeit!

  21. enchantedbeaver says:

Couple more insurance runs would be good.

  22. enchantedbeaver says:

    Loney’s creeping up on .250

  23. trublu4ever says:

    Nice catch, James!

  24. trublu4ever says:

    Oh, God, Justin! Wow!!!!

  25. trublu4ever says:

Great job! Nice win!!!!! I love L.A.!

  26. vl4eccjr says:

    Aint home cooking great?

  27. enchantedbeaver says:

For some reason I keep finding myself wanting to watch the replay of Loney’s catch over and over again.

  28. oldbrooklynfan says:

That’s Kershaw’s 6th gem this season. I like the way we scored tonight on outs. M. Ellis’ ground out and Kennedy’s SF to go along with Andre’s 8th HR.
Great catches by Loney & Sellers in the 9th..

  29. nedisajerk says:

Sands the past 2 night 6 hits and 2 HR’s.

  30. trublu4ever says:

Matty to 15 day DL…..Jerry called up.

    • crash24now says:

Another challenge for Donnie Boy: How to keep both Van Slyke and Sands out of the lineup when both are on the 25 man roster and the only other outfielders are all left-handed.

  31. nedisajerk says:

That was Kershaw career win #50 which he had done it against the Giants and tied someone home record the name escape me at the minutes.

  32. grizzy says:

These injuries are hardly ideal, but the team is in a pretty good position right now. Get these guys healthy for a mid-season push. I still think Uribe ‘s got something for us. let alone a healthy Kemp.

  33. dodgereric says:

Hey e, I agree with your reason to watch Loney’s catch over and over. In fact, I saw both of them. 🙂

  34. crash24now says:

    New look lineup:

    Gordon ss
    M Ellis 2b
    Van Slyke rf
    Ethier cf
    AJ Ellis c
    Sands lf
    Loney 1b
    Sellers 3b
    Billingsley p

Good luck to the boys in blue! Keep the streak going!

  35. lbirken says:

If you can I suggest reading T.J. Simers’ column in today’s L.A. Times. T.J. had a conference call with the Guggenheim top brass including Magic. If you know anything about Simers you can guess how the conversation went. He pressed them on the relationship with Frank McCourt, asking top guy Walters if he, Walters, had any idea how Dodger fans feel about McCourt having any involvement and why Guggenheim has been so tight lipped about the relationship and what they have said has not been totaly accurate. He even pressed Magic about sitting with McCourt at the opening day game in San Diego and all Magic could come up with he was learning about important ownership stuff. Simers asked them about plans for the stadium including future development, naming rights and such and the answer he got was there are no plans, something Simers finds difficult to accept. The article makes for good reading and Simers was not happy with the answers to his questions.

  36. trublu4ever says:

Hmmm…the Cubs just signed McDooDoo to a minor league deal. If he joins the team and does well (which I doubt) we will know for sure Bunnynutts should be shown the door!

    • sparkleplenty1 says:

Tru, WE know he should be, but maybe, if the powers that be keep an eye on the situation and he does turn things around, they’ll get it, too. We can only hope.

  37. sparkleplenty1 says:

    Trent Oeltjen was DFA’d today too. Looks like a bit of a make-over happening . . . .

  38. messagebear says:

I enjoyed the Simers article as well, and it’s good that there’s somebody out there not afraid to put Guggenheims and even Magic on the spot. I don’t understand why he would be surprised, however, by the prevailing attitude of the new owners. Who ever heard of hedge funds being honest or forthcoming in their business? I hope that the Dodgers have a surprisingly great season, and I’m glad to see a lineup such as today’s where a lot of our younger talent will get the needed exposure. I don’t, however, have any great expectations from the new ownership. Anybody care to guess how many bankruptcies have been created by hedge funds? Now that the precedent of bankruptcy has been set in MLB, who’s to say that the Guggenheimers won’t perform an even bigger fleece job than the one Frank pulled off. Magic notwithstanding, there’s no substance there in this new ownership.

  39. trublu4ever says:

Whew….Billz made it through the 1st!

  40. trublu4ever says:

Boy, I really beginning to dislike Chad! He is disappointing as hell!

  41. trublu4ever says:

    Jer-ry…a hit…nice!

  42. nedisajerk says:

Dang I hate that the WP made that an earned run if that was a PB that run would be unearned.

  43. trublu4ever says:

    YAY…finally, a 1 – 2 – 3 inning!

  44. trublu4ever says:

Damn, how you dare hit my Dre!

  45. nellyjune says:

The LA Kings are up 3-0. Maybe we can exchange a goal for a run 🙂

  46. trublu4ever says:

Looks like our winning streak is in severe jeopardy….thanks, Chad!

  47. vl4eccjr says:

    What a mess!

  48. nellyjune says:

Nevermind……..The Kings shouldn’t have to give up all 3 of their goals. Bad Chad 😦

  49. vl4eccjr says:

    Ruh roh!
Bringing in Javy with the bases loaded & no outs? WTF?

  50. trublu4ever says:

Looks like Loweenio want to go home early tonight! First pitch swinging! Damn!!!

  51. nedisajerk says:

Wow looking at all the penalty in the 3rd what happen?

  52. kahliforni says:

Best way to watch Billingsley pitch……….is to not watch him at all. Kings game was a joy to behold!!!! Cheap shots galore by Phoenix. But they paid dearly.

As for Bills, our beloved #2 starter….two games in a row he couldn’t get past the 5th inning. What a waste.

    • trublu4ever says:

I forget how many years is left on his contract….however, I’d trade him for Cole Hammels..neither one is happy where they are playing.

  53. crash24now says:

Kings win 4-0. No such luck for the Clippers nor the Dodgers.

  54. vl4eccjr says:

    WTG Mark!!!

  55. trublu4ever says:

    Mark!

  56. sparkleplenty1 says:

    Andre!

  57. kahliforni says:

Angels fire Mickey Hatcher as hitting coach. How gutless. Scioscia can’t be happy with Dipoto axing his bro, like Hatcher is responsible for Pujols’ funk.

  58. nedisajerk says:

Gosh I hate 0-2 pitch for a hit.

  59. vl4eccjr says:

With Wright, you never know which one you’re going to get. Tonight we got the bad one. Box of chocolates my ass!!

  60. sparkleplenty1 says:

We sure are being testy here tonight – and with good reason 🙂

  61. nedisajerk says:

Wright is a 1 inning guy and how in the heck does Wright make the team every year? Vinny said he made the team 7 straight times and Hill chase ball 4.

  62. trublu4ever says:

    Damn, Dee…rally killer!

  63. trublu4ever says:

    On a good note….the gnats are losing 4 – 1.

  64. nedisajerk says:

Ouch Vinny I didn’t want to here tha stats with the bases loaded for the Dback.

  65. trublu4ever says:

    Why don’t they DFA Coffey?!

  66. sparkleplenty1 says:

    Really loving AJ Ellis!

  67. vl4eccjr says:

A.J. has got to be in the All Star game!
Please spread the word outsiders! I’ve already voted all I can!

  68. nellyjune says:

Damn Rockies!!! Blown 4-1 lead against the Giants. There’s still time, but the Rockies bullpen is roughed up because of their series against us. I don’t forsee the Rockies pulling this one out.

  69. vl4eccjr says:

Anyone think they can pound the Putz, and pull out a walk off? LOL

  70. trublu4ever says:

Oh, well, tomorrow will be better.

  71. lbirken says:

Oh well, we are bound to have a clunker once in a while. Let’s hope tomorrow is the beginning of another winning streak.

  72. sparkleplenty1 says:

Night night everyone! See you tomorrow afternoon 🙂

  73. nedisajerk says:

Stupid ch 4 using the Sacremento Kings logo than the LA Kings logo. No one in LA want to see the Sacremento Kings logo.

  74. oldbrooklynfan says:

That Wade Miley was a little to much to handle tonight and their relivers were all on tonight but our Billz was off again.
Good for Mark Ellis, breaking the shutout. 9 RBI with his second homer.

    • nellyjune says:

He’s a good PVL to have on this team. Does his job well, and he’s a great clubhouse guy too.

  75. crash24now says:

Scutaro with the dinger to pull ahead of G’nats 5-4. Let’s hope they hold on for the win.

  76. nellyjune says:

Thank you Rockies!!! The Dodgers are still up 6 games 🙂

  77. enchantedbeaver says:

I’ve gotten to the point I don’t take much interest anymore in a game Billingsley’s pitching. They’re all the same – an implosion somewhere along the line, about 4-5 innings of work, then hand it over to the slop of the bullpen.

Without Kemp, someone else besides Dre is going to have to man-up and play or they’ll only be 5-6 games above .500 when he gets back.

    • trublu4ever says:

Too bad we can’t trade Chad. It’s just not working for us any more.

    • kahliforni says:

And don’t forget, enchanted, after each implosion Bills (and Mattingley, too, this time) claims he pitched well…just a few seeing-eye hits here and there. Ad nauseum.

      • crash24now says:

Donnie: “We’re making progress.” Donnie, you’re making me want to puke.

      • enchantedbeaver says:

8 of them evidently. Billz will never own up he just pitched shitty.

If anyone would have them, I’d package Billz, Loney and a pitching prospect or two – Winthrow, Martin, somebody and try and get a power hitting position player. Doesn’t matter where they play, just somebody else that’s a consistent threat in the line-up.

  78. sparkleplenty1 says:

Question totally outside of OTD – how do you turn off the email notification of comments? Have clicked on the box to get rid of the check, but they keep coming!! I can’t figure it out 😦

    • trublu4ever says:

Me too! It just started doing it. I also clicked the box.

      • sparkleplenty1 says:

It started yesterday in my case. I’ve rebooted, turned my computer inside out, and done all sorts of other things to no avail. Maybe it’s just a temporary aberration 🙂

    • vl4eccjr says:

Me too. I was having the same problem. The ‘Notify me’ box below the comment box has to be unchecked off for every post now for some reason.

  79. crash24now says:

Lineup – Time for New Rally Killers

    Gwynn CF

    Abreu LF
    Ethier RF
    Sands 1B
    Sellers SS
    Kennedy 3B
    Treanor C
    Capuano P

    • dodgereric says:

Wow, outside of Ethier, who’d uv thunk it?

      • kahliforni says:

Because this team is so strapped for legitimate sticks, Billingsley’s lack of talent, focus, stuff, nad, whatever you want to call it, is deflating for me as an idiot fan; imagine the hate crimes in the clubhouse…

        • dodgereric says:

I’d ask Billz to look at Baseball Reference dot com: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.cgi?id=billich01&t=p&year=2012

Just look at his first two starts and ask two questions: 1) What do they have in common? (I’ll answer this one – a combined 14.1 innings, 16 Ks, and 1 walk – both were wins), and 2) what is different from those games and (almost) every start since? TOO MANY F’N WALKS!!

In those first two starts, he was challenging the hitters. Now he’s back to nibbling, falling behind, walking guys that’re hitting .167.

Kahli, it’s the “nad”, or lack of same. IMIFO (In My Idiot Fan Opinion)

    • sparkleplenty1 says:

And Donnie expects to win with this line up? It gets more and more interesting – but I do like the idea of using the youngsters 🙂

      • trublu4ever says:

Win or lose, I like the way Donnie is using the kids, too. Torre would never have done it and, I respect Mattingly for giving these guys a shot.

        • crash24now says:

I just hope the kids can scratch out a few wins while Matt is recuperating.

          • trublu4ever says:

We will. I think they will come through for Matty and the team. How’s that for a vote of confidence? 😉

    • enchantedbeaver says:

Be easier to pick out rally starters…

      Ethier.

      There, I’ve done it.

  80. enchantedbeaver says:

Treanor seems to be Capuano’s catcher, but damn, if this line-up gets a run I’ll be surprised. Its triple A at best.

  81. lbirken says:

Yesterday’s lineup got everyone’s attention and approval and it scored 1 run. Today’s lineup seems more like Torre’s day game-after-a-night game typical offerings. Reference is made to some of these players as kids but let’s face the facts. Most of them are not “kids” (i.e. young prospects with a lot of upside and potential) but mostly fill in players who are on the roster because someone else is hurt. Don’t get me wrong, I like Sands and Sellers for their effort and enthusiasm but I have yet to see anything that convinces me these guys can be everyday big league players. I am wondering about Dee Gordon as well. I hope these guys can do it but so far, they have not.

    • enchantedbeaver says:

Have to agree with you birk. We’re woefully short of any viable position players in the minors. Have to put at least part of that on White. If you don’t draft them, Ned sure as hell won’t be bringing in any.

  82. enchantedbeaver says:

Maybe we can get Herrera to boot a field goal while he’s out there.

  83. trublu4ever says:

Collie is at the game…maybe he will bring us some luck.

  84. trublu4ever says:

    Wow…a run already!

  85. crash24now says:

    Lost half our lead.

  86. enchantedbeaver says:

Sellers and Kennedy and Treanor, Oh Shit!

  87. enchantedbeaver says:

Do you guys think that any of our #’s 6-9 hitters even get on base once between them?

  88. trublu4ever says:

Way to get out of the jam, Cappy!

  89. trublu4ever says:

    Good throw Richard 😉

  90. JhallWally says:

    Good afternoon/evening everyone……

Good to see the kids get some playing time. If only because Dildon doesn’t have much choice. I hope they do well or we may never see them again.

  91. trublu4ever says:

    Jer-ry!

  92. vl4eccjr says:

    Jer-ry!

  93. crash24now says:

Tattoo or Donnie (not sure which) needs to have his head examined. Why are you bunting? So Kennedy can come up with man on third and two outs? Are you kidding me?

  94. trublu4ever says:

    Damn!

  95. vl4eccjr says:

    Sheeeit!

  96. crash24now says:

    Damn that Headley!

  97. JhallWally says:

    Crap!!!!

  98. vl4eccjr says:

I guess Headley has Cap’s number tonight. 😦

  99. sparkleplenty1 says:

Time for Cappy to come out – he’s becoming crappy.

  100. vl4eccjr says:

    Is the strike zone shrinking?

  101. lbirken says:

The scout on Gameday has just contradicted himself. A short time ago he said Capuano seemed to be running out of gas and now he says Cappy still has something left in the tank. Then he says Cappy is having trouble with control.

  102. JhallWally says:

    Good Grief Javy….. Geez!!

  103. messagebear says:

Except for Andre, this lineup really belongs in Albuquerque, except for Kennedy and Treanor who might possibly rate for Rancho Cucamonga, and maybe not.

  104. kahliforni says:

The Dodgers farm system is ranked 24 out of 30. That’s McCourt. And how pathetic/sad/ridiculous/inexcusable that Loney can’t even crack this powderpuff lineup with so many starters on the DL? What a gamer Loney is……!?!?!?!?!?!?

  105. nedisajerk says:

How is Richard 5-1 in his career vs us? I think we should’ve trade for him instead of getting Ely and Link.

  106. nedisajerk says:

It funny before today Headley was 0/3 vs Cap.

  107. vl4eccjr says:

Thanks to Bobby, there’s still hope.

  108. trublu4ever says:

    Phooey!

  109. vl4eccjr says:

Pfffffffffffffffffftt! Ah yes! That old familiar smell!

  110. kahliforni says:

James, at least pretend you’re trying to tie the game by pulling the ball….

  111. lbirken says:

Look on the bright side. This makeshift lineup scored two runs, one more than last night’s lineup. Tomorrow is another day and another game.

  112. oldbrooklynfan says:

Clayton Richards must be happy the Dodgers are around, at least he has one team he can beat. Capuano another quality start but in a losing cause. Ethier #34 Elian Herrera #1

  113. vl4eccjr says:

    Thank you Cards!

  114. oldbrooklynfan says:

YEEEEAAAAA the Cards beat the Giants tonight. I know that some of you feel that if the Dodgers won the last two games they would be leading by 8 games but the other side of the coins says if the Giants won their last two games they would’ve cut the lead to 4.
We got the best of both worlds as we STILL lead by 6 games.
    GO DODGERS!!!!!!

  115. enchantedbeaver says:

Think that’s the best we can hope for while Kemp’s out – SF and AZ keep losing.

What a mickey mouse line-up Donnie boy put out there yesterday. I know Treanor appears to be Caps catcher, but why when your offense is pitifully weak in the first place do you also start Kennedy and Sellers, then bat all three consecutively? Dee may not be swinging the stick, but Sellers can’t hit a lick, and Kennedy doesn’t even belong in the majors.

And another thing, how can anyone get into anykind of rhythm when they don’t play consistantly? Either you play Abreu or you play VanSlyke while Kemp’s out. You either leave M.Ellis in or you don’t. If the old farts can’t suck it up and play for two weeks straight, then put somebody in there that can. Its like watching a friggin LL manager let everybody play.

And perhaps the saddest thing of all, there isn’t anyone that CAN elevate their play while Kemp’s gone.

An astute observation as always, E. I’ll only add that nothing has changed since the new ownership, other than trying to explain how and why Frank will never be out of the picture. We still have Ned; we still have Conte; we’ll probably always have Honeybutts, and there isn’t the slightest suggestion that the team will be improved any time soon. So, Hail to the Hedge Funds – it’s all about investment and nothing to do with what’s on the field.

With all the PVSs (great term BTW), wannabes, and neverwills on this team, maybe Guggenheim’s looking for a return on infestment.

      • trublu4ever says:

I’m wondering if they are looking folks over before they clean house?

        • enchantedbeaver says:

Possible Tru, but even novices like us know the farm system has nothing to offer in reality. There’s no one down there that’s a “can’t miss” prospect. Even Zach Lee was stinking it up in Hi-A last I looked. Not that I wouldn’t take Eovaldi over Billz, but then I’d take Vivaldi over Billz, and he’s been dead for almost 3 centuries. Not saying guys like Van Slyke and Sands can’t have nice little careers, but neither one I don’t think will ever be a difference maker. Federowicz – back-up at best. Castellanos – bench player. Half the top pitchers are wild as hell. I think we’re supposed to be 24th in farm systems, but I honestly don’t know how you’d find 6 more clubs with worse. I know you couldn’t with position players.

Mattingley should be learning his trade on his own time, not ours, and I’d sure as hell like to know how McCourt circumvented interviewing minorities (or anyone else for that matter) when he hired both he and Torre.

Ned we’ve been over ad nauseum, and anyone could look at his “record” and conclude he’s an idiot. Maybe Ned ought to take a page from his own book and go down to the minors to learn how to be a big leaguer GM. Any doubts he’d have the oldest team in 1A?

And I think the only “sage” advice Bunnynutts can offer our pitchers is, “throw strikes.”

There’s 2-3 years of just fixing to do. All we can have right now is faith that Kasten will do something about it. He and Magic talk a good game, but then, so did McCourt. The proofs going to be in actions. So far the only actions have been to sign a 38 year old OFer and let a crappy pitcher go while keeping an even worse one on the team. Got the draft coming up and we’ll see how that goes, but I’m not holding my breath we’ll get a Bryce Harper out of it.

    • kahliforni says:

Kasten will do the right things…starting with that “nuisance” (real professional teams call it player development and scouting) McCourt scooted under the rug in favor of houses and coiffures. Give the man time. Hell, Scioscia will probably be available before long. Since Dipoto fired his boy, Mickey, the two don’t seem to talk to each other. So if you want Scioscia, hope for a VERY long Angels losing streak. As for me, I’m not so sure he’s the right fit… Maybe he is, maybe he isn’t. Feedback, y’all??? Scioscia…yes or no for Blue Heaven?

      • enchantedbeaver says:

Over Mattingley? Hell yes. At least he’s an experienced manager and knows how the NL game is played. Donnie still doesn’t after 4+ years. And there’s always room for Mickey (Hatcher, not Mouse.)

I wouldn’t mind seeing Yeager get a shot at managing either if he’d want it. I’d also like to see Hough as the pitching coach.

        • trublu4ever says:

          I vote yes also.

        • kahliforni says:

It’ll be interesting. Uncle Ned told Grandpa Joe to bring his successor with him, which turned out to be Donnie boy. Let’s say Kasten has the chance to get Scioscia at year’s end (which I feel is a distinct possibility), but Donnie has done a spiffy, swell job with the Dodgers, even making the playoffs. Does Kasten dump and run to the Dodgers-bred Scioscia, which would be a coup in the eyes on MANY Dodger fans and civic leaders, and while he’s at it, hire a new GM with Dodger ties, maybe Orel? Or would Kasten stay with Donnie and Ned? Remember, Kasten is a sharp customer…

          • enchantedbeaver says:

If Kasten would end up keeping Ned, then he’s not all that sharp.

And I would have an aneurysm.

          • crash24now says:

Nothing against Orel, but Kim Ng should be a top candidate for the GM job.

Hey its been a lousy week. Kersh and Cappy lose their first games, but did you think they would go undefeated? It was bound to happen. I would rather have kemp out 15 days in May than in September. So we played the kids and that didn’t help. What bothers me is that Donnie seems to be confused about what line up to put out there. We lost Kemp, Uribe, and Riveria, who were starters, add hairston to the DL.. So bring in two outfielders, one has to be Gywnn, and keep Dre in RF, at 3rd one of the kids must play. Yes play gordon and loney, if they don’t get their consistent swings in they will never get going. I have concerns about our BP, especially Javy, but I think other teams will figure out Kenley too, and then we can never feel comfortable going into the 9th. Having our star on the DL while in first place is much easier to take, there are so many other concerns that still exist, like our manager figuring out how to handle adversity.

    • crash24now says:

Hopefully, today will be a better day with the Ellisses back in the lineup (what’s the plural of Ellis?)

      • koufax1963 says:

Kim Ng ABSOLUTELY, I think the Dodgers would be much better without any Former giants links, bye Ned, bye yawn, bye conte

  118. trublu4ever says:

Hey, Enchanted…..I’m sure you will be pleased to know, Kennedy has moved up to #5 in the lineup…….to protect Dre 😉

    • trublu4ever says:

With Abreu 3rd & Kennedy 5th, Andre won’t see a hittable pitch all night! My FB Buddies say: “Mattingly has finally lost his f*cking mind!” 😉

    • enchantedbeaver says:

Harang rates equal to Billz in my interest meter, but now that Kennedy’s hitting 5th on top of that, I’ll find some other form of entertainment for the evening.

We’re once again heading to laughing stock land.

I find it a bit surprising that Scioscia may be losing favor in Anaheim. He has done a terrific job there. I guess it is his fault Prince Albert is off to a bad start.

    • trublu4ever says:

Pujols is starting to wake up….even though they lost today, he hit a HR….and, since that now makes 3 (I believe) all is well for Sir Albert…screw the team. I am here for myself!

The gnats bet the Cards…..another crappy event today!
