Despite the 3-3 record on the road trip, the Dodgers are 12-4 and still in first place. It is easy to look at the team and say that beyond Kemp and Ethier, the batting has been pretty anemic. With a blog full of glass half empty comments, at least one of us has seen the glass as half full.
This post is dedicated to OBF. Joe spent a rainy Sunday with his daughter in Long Island City and missed the game. His cheerful comment that it is better to suffer a horrible loss when you are in first place led to the title of this post. Feeling Groovy AKA The 59th St. Bridge song ties into Joe’s neck of the woods since the east end of the bridge comes into LIC, Queens.
So in words of Paul Simon, we Dodger fans can say, for now at least, “Life I love you, all is groovy.”
I am feelin’ groovy! Right now that is….by tonight, I may be hittin’ the bottle and, then, I will really be feeling groovy 😉
You just about pinpointed where I was. On Court Square-45th Rd just one stop away from Queensborough Plaza on the #7 train the approach of the Queesnborough 59th St. Ed Koch Bridge, at the Court Square Dinner. Not far from where I live in Greenpoint.
I thought you lived in Williamsburg. What subway stop is closest to your home?
Loweenio is once again behind Juanpy in OPS, .690 to .724, thanks to Juanpy’s three-for-four performance yesterday. I will be feelin’ groovy once Loweenio becomes Loney for good.
OBF, I happened to be in NYC last week for a meeting and had the opportunity to attend a game at Yankee Stadium. Never saw the old stadium but the new one is impressive. I must say I was a bit surprised that the crowd came late and some left early. I always knew this was not just an L.A. thing.
I always knew that too, but some how Dodger Stadium got stuck with that thing. I think it’s because Scully had the cameras facing the parking lots around the 7th inning, showing the back lights of the cars, leaving.
Coming late must’ve been just added on to the cliche.
Today, the world’s youngest Dodger fan was born. My niece gave birth to a son and he already has a Dodger onesy 🙂 He inherited his “fandom” from both his parents, maternal grandfather, and great aunt.
Congratulations Sparky!!
Fantastic news!
Congrats! I definitely inherited mine from my Dad. He was a bit of an outsider in his youth being born in The Bronx, and not being a Yankee fan.
Congrats on the fabulous news!!!
I’m not feeling so groovy right now!
Nausea is setting in!
Whew!
Whew!!!
Capuguano with a shaky enough start that would give most of us the urge to upchuck. He won’t last long unless he gets his pitch count down.
J.J. (as Vinny calls him) not looking much better.
Love our Dre!
Dre delivers!
Everyday Dre!
LOL! Vin called him Ugglia!
Sheeeit!
I have a feeling this is not going to be a pitchers duel 🙂
Well, that run was erased real quick. At least it was a solo shot considering bases were loaded last inning.
GO DODGERS!!!
Holy shit….Loney & Uribe with hits!
Holy crap! Uribe!? I had to check my pulse there & pinch myself to make sure I’m still alive & breathing.
Thanks A.J.!
Damn…Dre just missed a homer!
WOW! Deja vu!
Nice to see the bottom of the order produce for a change!
Love that the bottom of the order seems to be coming around.
Sheeit!
DAMN! Here we go with the baserunning boo boos again.. WTF?
That could have been fun, but not so much now – lol!!
GO DODGERS!!!
Cranial Rectal Inversion strikes again.
Jhall would be so proud of you 😉
I’ve been using that term since 7th grade. My social studies teacher was the first one I ever heard using it describing my fellow classmates & myself. . .
Optical Rectumitis ( A shitty outlook on life) came a few years later. 😉
Amazing! I never thought Capuano would make it through seven with that terrible start he had.
Me either…he kept his cool where, on the other hand, Billz would have got pissed off and imploded!
Nice double play ball. After those few shaky innings, Chris has done a pretty good job! Josh is warming up so I’m guessing he willcome in the 8th.
GO DODGERS!!!
OUCH! First blemish for Josh this season.
He shook that off with a nice recovery!
At least it was just a 1 run ooops!!
GO DODGERS!!!
Okay!! Now just stay where you are boys!! No fancy stuff – lol!!
GO DODGERS!!
Uribe 4 – 4…who would have thought? 😉 Where the hell are Beav & Wally when you need them?!
I’m thinking Hell is experiencing some ‘climate change’ with a chilling blast. LOL
Somebody needs to check Uribe’s temperature.
Whoa!
Who is this imposter that’s wearing Uribe’s uniform tonight? LOL
Got to give credit to the back of the order tonight!! Now, let’s close out this game boys!!!
GO DODGERS!!
Yay……so much for the East Coast bias! Except for Millar (Intentional Talk) nobody believes in us! Well, I believe!
Great start for the home stand!
WAY TO GO BOYS!!!
We got the “Left Hook and the “Right Cross” and that baserunning gig was just a throwback to the ’30s. Uribe, Loney and the gem fron the Capo. Go Dodgers!!!!!
This isn’t going away, and can’t be swept under the rug.

When there’s a perception of a conflict of interest, there often is a true conflict of interest. Oh, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This whole thing reeks of Selig.
Yes, it does!!
After tonight’s game, Atlanta redesignated JJ (as Vin calls him) to triple A. This is what happens when you allow Uribe to get hits off you – lol!! (jk)
Wow! That sure was quick!
I guess hearing Vin say Jair hasn’t thrown but maybe 2 strikes all night was enough for the Braves executives. The Dodgers broke the camels back so to speak.
A nice surprise win last night – I figured Cupaguano would get pummeled by the Braves. Uribe with 4 hits? How could the pitchers find his bat so many times in the same game?
Reminds me of Kent and Drew getting thrown out at the plate in a playoff game against the Mets. My old favorite Shawn Green was responsible for that one.
I think Old Brooklyn must have some similar stories?
Woo-Hoo, win streak!!
Uribe going 4 for 4 with 3 RBIs will keep him on the roster and in the starting lineup until the All-Star Break….
And how long do they stick with Rivera? He’s flying under the radar of Loneys slow start and Uribes total uselessness until last night. Its a darn shame Sands is struggling. Bring up Van Slyke.
DFA Kennedy and McDooDoo….
Jon Weisman at Dodger Thoughts also thinks that it is time for McDooDoo to go-go.
However, I cannot believe that you want to DFA Kennedy. It seems to be a (recent) tradition of the Dodgers to have a wimpy hitter on the bench, a la Eugenio or Sweeney. This year, we have two – Kennedy and Treanor!
I figured Uribe’s performance last night would get some notice. From what I saw in TV both Uribe and Ethier poked at balls out of strike zone for hits. In Ethier’s case I attribute his fortune to good hitting; in Uribe’s case he might have just been lucky. Hopefully he will continue to get lucky.
As for the issue with Braun, I am not sure I care much anymore about the whole PED situation. The league’s refusal to address this issue long ago is the reason Congress finally felt it had to get involved. The damage has been done and little if anything can be done about it. Therefore, every player from the past 20 years or so is suspect. The most telling thing for me is how many former players from prior to what is called the steroid era admit they might have been tempted to try PED’s to gain a competitive advantage had these drugs been available.
GrrrRear placed on 15 day DL(elbow tendinitis)….Lefty Michael Antonini called up from AAA…..was really hoping McDooDoo was the one gone!
Cleaning out the trash in the bullpen one at a time – first Coffey, then Grrrrear, next will be McDooDoo – any other requests?
and, to top it off, McCrook is officially gone by the end of the week!
The worse you are, the longer you stay – its Ned’s way of never admitting he was wrong.
I’m having a problem logging on to Tommy Lasorda’s world, They think I’m an imposter, do I hope this comment gets true.
O.K I see there’s no conection.
New thread.
