We are now in February and only a couple of weeks away from the pitchers and catchers reporting date. Getting closer but not getting better. This off-season has been another dud. The Dodgers look worse coming into the upcoming season than they did last year. What are the chances that Kemp And Kershaw will improve upon their great season last year? Ned is betting the farm on Ethier, Loney and Uribe having vastly better performance this year.
Meanwhile, I can hardly wait to see what Ned’s next move will be.

I hope Ned’s next move is out the door and far away from L.A.!
I am not sure the Dodgers look worse coming into this season but clearly they don’t look any better. Of course Ned is hoping Uribe, Loney and Ethier have significantly better seasons; all Dodger fans are hoping for the same thing. I will be happy if Kemp and Kersh duplicate their seasons. I will concede that the Dodger bench might be worse without Miles and Carroll and a lot depends on how well Dee Gordon does as the everyday shortstop. But look on the bright and optomisitic side: If Ethier is healthy as he claims and he plays with the chip on his shoulder, he should improve upon his numbers. This is his season to prove he is worth a big contract next year. It will be interesting to see how he handles that. And hopefully Kemp plays with the same passion and energy he displayed last year. Loney, well that is anybody’s guess as to what he will do. Hopefully that little incident on the freeway will not be a distraction for him.

Well no matter how or what Ned bets, Ethier, Loney & Uribe have better get going otherwise it will be a long lousy season. I can see Ethier doing better after putting the surgery behind him, I just hope he can be his old self again as I’m hoping for Loney to continue the surge he had closing out last season. Uribe is due for a good season as I understand he’s been an on & off player his whole career. Another guy I’d like to see improve from a .500 pitcher he’s been in the last 3 years is Billingsley. Yes ST will be here soon and so is winter in New York, this is our winterest month.

…….but haven’t the fans been saying for a long time now that the criminal element needs to be dealt with? However, I do feel for the Dodgers Organization having their name dragged through the mud as if it is synonmous with McCourt.
I would place the blame on the two drunkin thugs, first of all, but I would think that the judge would have to deal with more pros and cons before coming to a decision on how much the team is at fault.
I agree with old brooklyn in that how those four guys go, so goes the season. We have a pretty good idea what our two most valuable will do, but those three position players in the heart of the order need to step up or….

No doubt teams find Kuo a big puzzle as we can all understand. No one knows what to expect from him.
I would like to see the Dodgers take another shot at him, since the article states that they still maintain interest.
I imagine that the Dodgers’ interest in Kuo is to sign him to a minor league contract with a ST invite but no guarantee, and that would be the extent of my interest at this time. He just may have had one surgery too many, but he was a good Dodger when he could pitch uninjured.

Why is it Ned will give a contract to every washed up piece of shit he comes across, yet won’t at least take a chance on Kuo? Not saying they should’ve offered him arbitration, he shouldn’t have, but what’s a mil or mil and a half on a contract? If he’s back on, he’s a helluva lot better than MacDogcrap and this Coffey character they just signed, plus you still really need a second lefthander in the pen.
It’s sad to see Kuo go and I agree he was worth another shot after all the years he’s been with us. I wish him all the luck in the world. We won’t soon forget him.
Signing Kuo would have required common sense – and we all know that Ned is short on that – as well as other things too numerous to mention.

LOL!! I don’t think you have to worry Beav… The odds of a team claiming Mitchell off waivers is infintesimally small. Any team claiming him would have to keep him on the major league team all year. Unless Nedcompoop works a trade for him, he will probably be back at AAA. I don’t see Nediot just flat out releasing him if he clears waivers.
I think the Dodgers should take a minor league flier on DeWitt if the opportunity presents itself. Although, it would not surprise me if a team claims him. Is Andy LaRoche still out there?

Kershaw

I agree, we need to sign Kershaw past 2014. Right now all we did was give him 2 years instead of 1 to avoid arbitration.
It looks to me from what has been made public about negotiations between Kershaw and the Dodgers that a number of proposals were made by both sides. It is also clear both sides wanted to avoid arbitration so the two year deal at least puts that off for a while. There is risk for both sides in this deal and it seems fair. If Kershaw stays healthy and pitches at least as well as he did last season, he will get a big payday soon enough. In the meantime, his financial future is secure.
An Observation: McDork did not have to bother with contracts with Kemp and Kershaw or the alleged bid for fielder. Too little too late for McDork, but I am glad he signed those two for the Dodger blue.
Secondly, I would be surprised if Kemp and Kershaw duplicated their 2011 season, I hope they don’t fall to far from it though!
Suposedly Selig wants to change the play-off format this year, so that two WC teams make the play-offs from each league, already the gnats media bravado is saying “there is no way the giants won’t make the post season in 2012, name 5 teams in the NL that are better than us ” quote KNBR sports radio. Can’t say the dodgers look stronger than 2011, it requires excellent execution on the field all season to deliver the dodgers to the playoffs in 2012. The gnats excuse is the DL, now healthy. The Dbacks may be stronger, and very hungry. I can only trust the new ownership will fortify our Dodgers!
I would think the most important thing is for the Dodgers to get off to a good start. They have to be in better shape in the standings than they were last year, come July.
That’s said with a new owner, there’s no doubt we as fans will be in a better frame of mine, with more hope than in previous years..

I think you can tell I’m totally frustrated by all the off-season shenanigans. At least we’re closer to playing ball, and I’m looking forward to that for better or worse. I’m not really looking for any “better” with the new ownership bids. That will be just another fiasco designed from the start to make Frank richer in spite of all he did to our franchise – f’ing bastard.
