More bad news

The bankruptcy hearing that was supposed to start next Monday has been postponed until November 29.

The OC Register has this article http://dodgers.ocregister.com/2011/10/26/whats-up-mccourt-sleeve-this-time/ with a link to the original report by LA Times Bill Shaikin http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dodgers/2011/10/key-dodgers-bankruptcy-hearing-postponed-one-month.html

This comes after yesterday’s report that McCourt’s minions have asked to extend their exclusive window to propose a reorganization plan for the team until April 25, 2012.  http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dodgers/2011/10/dodgers-to-bankruptcy-judge-six-more-months-please.html

It looks like another depressing off season is in store for Dodger fans.

    Hurry up….And Wait…………………..

Good Grief!!! The long awaited face off between Frank and Bud has been postponed for a month. I guess the attorneys told the judge yesterday they were going to need more time. Yeah, I’m sure the lawyers want to keep their meter running as long as they can. They really don’t have any vested interest in getting this thing resolved. Kind of a conflict of interests. They’re not likely to get another cash cow like this one anytime soon.

Oh well, I was really looking forward to them finally stop jabbing at each other and start throwing some real hay-makers. Should be good for us as I believe Bud has a bigger hammer.

There is also speculation that this delay is to give them more time to reach some sort of settlement. The only acceptable settlement is for McCockroach to agree to sell the team and get out of town. Maybe Frank is finally seeing the writing on the wall and is finally willing to stop this expensive gambit on his part. It is ultimately going to cost him the most in the long run as he continues to drain what little equity the Dodger franchise has left. Not likely given Franks track record.

Let’s hope that a settlement is coming that includes tar, feathers and a railroad tie.

  3. JhallWally says:

I’m hoping for an appointment with the IRS…..

  4. McCourt never runs out of rabbits to pull out of his hat. I sure thought we might progress a little next week but it looks like we’ll have to wait longer but we can’t be sure something will happen even then.

  5. dodgereric says:

What do you think the chances are that he’s trying to cut a deal with MLB that enables him to leave with some cash? What’s it worth to MLB to get rid of him? I’ll donate a buck, but only if I can give it to him in person.

  6. Didn’t this judge say, “no more gimmicks”, ” no more delays”, etc..He’s being jerked all around just because Frank McTard doesn’t want to reach the inevitable conclussion that he’s out as owner by next season, regardless of litigation and further delays. Pathetic. Month on month and were into the New Year still without a decision.

    Make this process express.

Even with a reorganization plan, it still leaves the same problems as always. Good workers and employees have left the franchise because there is no structure, and even with a Ned gone, we could potentially lose a Watson and Logan White. Where we’ve already lost a capable and well deserving candidate in Kim Ng, we have a incompetent Stan Conte. The problem would need to be resolved where every single front office staff member was fired, and a new era would be enshrined were only the good staff stayed. It is in my strongest belief that I doubt Frank has that in mind.

    Tonights game postponed.

  8. lbirken says:

Not sure why anyone is surprised at all the legal delays. For better or worse this is the way the system works. Neither side cares about the cost and clearly Frank doesn’t care about any negative impact on the Dodger organization, fans, employees or even himself. So settle in, this could take a while.

  9. January 14, 2014. You heard it here. You heard it right.

Any other guestaments on when Frank’s out for good?

  10. dodgereric says:

December 31, 2011. Happy New Year.

Trial postponement could lead to sale of Dodgers by Frank McCourt
“The one-month postponement of the bankruptcy trial will allow McCourt and Major League Baseball to explore a possible settlement in which he sells the team, several people familiar with situation say.”

  12. messagebear says:

The idea that a one month delay will allow Frank and MLB to come to a settlement involving a sale of the Dodgers is LAUGHABLE. That’s just another delay tactic on Frank’s part – the first one of many to come, if he has any say in it.

  13. I saw on the news this morning that Frank’s looking to sell the LA Marathon. Looks like he’s trying to gather in some more $’s. But I’d really hate to speculate why. He’s the ultimate magician.

  14. dodgereric says:

    My, my, my……..

    McCourt’s attorney Jerome James:
“You’re saying to the jury, ‘They (the Stow family) are saying we’re 100 percent liable. But does that mean (Marvin) Norwood and (Louie) Sanchez, who beat this guy up, have no liability? And, does it mean Mr. Stow himself has no liability?’

  15. koufax1963 says:

I don’t quite get Selig, why didn’t he hammer Mcloot when he declared bankruptcy (that seems to be a criteria to seize a team per the MLB charter), I speculate that he hesitates to allow the bankruptcy court to play out, therefore he doesn’t have to do anything. I could further speculate that selig is chicken and does not want his “commisioner power” challenged, as I am sure and so does selig, that is what Mcloot would do, based on biased treatment shown the Dodgers owner. Hey it has been a good WS. Go Rangers!

  16. vl4eccjr says:

The network is crying big time over poor ratings for this series.
All I can say is, all these fair weather fans from Beantown, the Big Apple, Chi-town, the bay area, or wherever are missing a great series. Both these teams have matched up pretty well so far. Any TRUE baseball fan should appreciate that.
    .
    .
BTW the NBA is going to lose alot of money if they don’t resolve their issues soon. They are talking of still having a full 82 game schedule if it gets done quickly. The quality of the games will decline, and injury rates will rise if this goes through with less time off. More than likely this will mean a decline in ticket sales.

  21. JhallWally says:

Wow!! Exciting game. Cards defense looks like shit.

  22. vl4eccjr says:

Whoa! I’m amazed Wash didn’t pinch hit for Lewis with the bases loaded there.

  23. nedisajerk says:

    Wow Napoli dumb Holliday.

  24. The Rangers’ game is falling apart! This is no bueno!

  25. vl4eccjr says:

Dotel still sucks. Just like when he was with the Dodgers. Piece of shit. Him and Theriot…..

  34. vl4eccjr says:

Now shut em down Rangers! Don’t want to go to seven with the chance of Carpenter returning.

  35. I like this guy Holland. Wonder where the Dodgers can get one like him?

  36. nedisajerk says:

That suck that Bengie retired and Vlad went to the Orioles.

  37. trublu4ever says:

  44. 32and53fan says:

Somewhere, big Frank Howard is smiling…

    • 32and53fan says:

Sorry, I wrote that before I knew the score was tied. That’s what I get for hitting pause on the DVR to go to the bathroom!

      • JhallWally says:

Yep, it looked like they had one for the old Senator…..

Hopefully, they can still get it done.

        • 32and53fan says:

He can smile again after that blast by Hamilton. Howard only played a few months in 1972 when the Senators moved to Texas and became the Rangers before he was traded to the Tigers.

He will always have the honor of being featured in the “Dodgers Song’ by Danny Kaye.

  45. JhallWally says:

Wah-Hoo!!! Now big Frank Howard is smiling……

  46. trublu4ever says:

    YAY!

  47. vl4eccjr says:

Josh practically did that with one hand!

  48. trublu4ever says:

    Geez…WTF is with their bullpen!

  49. 32and53fan says:

  52. JhallWally says:

You gotta be shittin’ me…. Good grief!!

  53. 32and53fan says:

Somewhere, big Frank Howard is shouting “WTF!”

  54. nedisajerk says:

Can we send the Rangers Jansen and Guerra?

  55. trublu4ever says:

They are making me miss my Thursday night TV programming 😉

  56. vl4eccjr says:

I’d be using ALOT of ink, and would be getting writers cramp if I was keeping a box score for this game.

  57. vl4eccjr says:

    Unbefuckinglievable!

  58. trublu4ever says:

Bullpen really blew it tonight. I hope they can recover.

  59. vl4eccjr says:

Rangers had their chances. Plenty of them. The bullpen blew it.
Now the advantage goes back to the fucking birds!

  60. 32and53fan says:

7 game series are always more dramatic. Good luck tomorrow Rangers.

  61. Cards will win..Rangers can’t get the job done..

  62. JhallWally says:

Wow, what a game. Last nights game is an instant classic and one we will remember and be hearing about for years to come.

The outcome was certainly a bummer for me and I’m sure the Ranger faithful. One strike away from the WS title, not once, but twice. That’s gonna leave a mark unless they find some way to win game 7 tonight. That is a pretty tall order and if they can pull it off, they certainly deserve the title.

Like Tru mentioned last night, Oliver, the lefty, allowing both left handed hitters to get on base really hurt. But, I think the play that really killed them was Cruz misplaying that long fly ball to right. Check out the replays, he should have caught that ball.

Anyway, should be a hell of a game tonight.

    GO RANGERS!!!!!!

  63. messagebear says:

Some of our top executives may get interviewed, but you have to wonder how much credibility anybody would have having worked under such an incompetent as Ned Colletti and under Frank’s ownership. Of course, you could always cite all the ways you learned how NOT to do things, but that seems a little awkward.

  64. trublu4ever says:

Read where the Dodgers hired their first female athletic trainer and, I’m saying “YAY” no more Conte but, to no avail….he will still be overseeing the operation…..now, if that isn’t money wasted, I don’t know what is!
