On the Road Again

The Dodgers completed their second series sweep of the season against the hapless Houston Astros – the worst team in baseball.  Today, they hit the road and will play the Milwaukee Brewers – tied for the second best team in MLB.

Ted Lilly, who has a 2.37 ERA despite losing 2 out of his last three games, will go against the Brewers.  Ex-Dodger Randy Wolf, with a 3-0 record and 2.57 ERA in his last trio of games, goes up against his old team.

Will the Dodgers keep up their winning momentum or slide back into their losing ways?

This Day in Dodgers History

On August 15, 2006 – With the 4-0 blanking of the Marlins, the Dodgers win their sixth consecutive game and 17th in 18 games. The stretch is the team’s best run since the Brooklyn Superbas went 20-1 in 1899.

Tough series against the Brew crew….I only picked one win that way, if we should win more, I will be surprised. I just don’t know if we will hit enough to win. With Lilly tonight, I’d for sure give the win to the Brewers.

  2. trublu4ever says:

I read where Uribe won’t be joining the team on the road trip….whew! I was hoping they would forget about him all together!

  3. messagebear says:

Yeah, Ned has the uncanny ability to outbid Sabean as if trying to best his old boss, only to come up scooping up all of Sabean’s shit.
Of course, Frank’s the guy who keeps letting Ned do it.

  4. scottinarcadia says:

Uribe needs to pull a Belasario and get stuck in his home country next off season. Anyone have friends in customs that can make things tough on him? lol

  5. messagebear says:

Anybody know if Uribe has a Facebook or Twitter account?
A few well placed anti-Chavez remarks on his account ought to keep him in Venezuela permanently, probably someplace deep, wet and dark.

Hi’Ya Dad. Thanks for the attendance status last night. It sure would be nice to unload Lilly, Uribe, and Grrrrear. Ned has to be about the stupidest or unluckiest son of a bitch in baseball. My vote is on freaking stupid.

      • dodgereric says:

Hiya jhall, mi amigo! Did you check the comments on that story? I gave him one.

        Ned is……….

        A) stupidest son of a bitch in baseball
        B) unluckiest son of a bitch in baseball

        The vote now stands:

        A – 2
        B – 0

        • JhallWally says:

Yes, I saw your comment. A little scary as it is something that Ned would do. Instead of taking his lumps and moving on, Ned just keeps compounding his mistakes. I guess that is what happens when you are really not qualified for the position you are in. Right now, Uribe is a bigger disappointment than Lilly in my opinion.

          • dodgereric says:

Doesn’t the Peter Principle say that you rise to the level of your incompetence? Well, congrats, Ned. You made it.

          • JhallWally says:

No doubt!! The problem is, just when you think Ned has made the worst deal possible, the dumb son of a bitch goes out and tops it. This guy is breaking new ground as far as idiot trades and FA signings.

  6. trublu4ever says:

And, for that, he will probably get a raise next year!

    • JhallWally says:

Hi’Ya Trumom!! Actually, I’m surprised that Frank has not thrown Ned under the bus. He could make a good case for himself by firing Ned and citing the teams poor performance and part of the financial problems on Neds bad trades and signings. Granted the Dodgers aren’t spending like the 2nd largest market team, but they haven’t exactly been put on a KC, Pittsburgh, or Florida budget either. Obviously Frank is too distracted by his current ownership, divorce, and public image problems and Ned is flying under the radar and getting a free pass. I can’t think of any other team that would not have fired him already.

The Dodgers have not lost a series in Milwaukee since 2007, and they have won eight of their last 10 road games against the Brewers. The Dodgers are 19-10 at Miller Park since it opened in 2001.

Ted Lilly takes the mound, which seems like a scary thought against a team that has 75 home runs in 59 home games this season. However, Lilly has pitched well in his last two starts, allowing three total runs in 14 innings, with two walks and 12 strikeouts. Lilly is 4-1 in seven career starts at Miller Park, with a 2.84 ERA, eight walks and 33 strikeouts in 44 innings. He has six straight quality starts in Milwaukee, dating back to 2008, allowing eight total runs during that span.

    • JhallWally says:

Yep Shad, should be interesting to see how Lilly does tonight.

Also Loney has hit pretty well at Miller Park. Loney would be a good fit for the Brewers next year on a one year deal if they don’t resign Fielder.

  8. nedisajerk says:

Where Shawn Green when you need him? I remember when he hit 4 HR’s in this park.

  9. Normally I’d vote “A” Eric, but I have to believe that that distinction belongs to Frank, which leads to the only rational explaination as to why Ned still has a job.

  10. trublu4ever says:

With Wolf & Lilly pitching tonight….how many homers will we see? I’ll say 5.

  11. trublu4ever says:

    Holy shit…a freaking triple play!

  12. Once again, Loney outdoes himself.

  13. JhallWally says:

Unbelievable!!! You couldn’t make this shit up.

  14. trublu4ever says:

F*ck….Navarro thrown out at home too!

  15. JhallWally says:

Good grief!! You don’t send freaking Navarro on that play. Especially with no outs. Geez!!!

  16. JhallWally says:

Hey Beav, check on gameday. They’ve got that picture that looks like a brown birds head or something on there. Did we ever figure out what the hell that really is supposed to be?

  17. trublu4ever says:

    WTF!

  18. Never could figure out why Ned wouldn’t sign Wolf, then goes out and gets Lilly. They’re the same pitcher.

  19. 4 hits and 2 walks off Wolf in 4 innings… any other team would have 2-3 runs.

  20. trublu4ever says:

Sorry about that. Just started drinking earlier than usual today!

  21. JhallWally says:

Anyone care to tell me why in the hell Loney is even playing against a lefty? Donny is a true dildo!!!

  22. JhallWally says:

LOL!! Rick and Charlie just suggested that Loney doesn’t need a batting coach, he needs an exorcist. We’re way ahead of those guys.

  23. How come all of Lilly’s “sinkers” are above the waist?

  24. Dre definitely needs a change of scenery.

  25. JhallWally says:

Braves came back and beat the G’Aints!! Wilson blew the save. Love it!!!

  26. trublu4ever says:

    Ugh!

  27. Pretty damn pathetic when you’re getting shutout by Randy Wolf.

  28. JhallWally says:

Crap!!!!! Well, what little chance we had just flew out the window. Can’t put this one on Lilly. He did well.

  29. trublu4ever says:

Well, shit, join the party McDooDoo!

  30. vl4eccjr says:

    Poof! Thar she blows!

  31. Another fine showing from a pathetically inept ballclub.

  32. JhallWally says:

Ethier blows!!! He’s flying under the Loweeny, Barfajas, Nobatro, and Uribum shit screen.

  33. Dodger dawg 32 says:

Bad owner, bad GM and a bad team. That says it all unfortunately.
