You know that Ned is still wavering on being a buyer or seller, and the only name being brought up in the Dodgers camp is Hiroki Kuroda.
I voted Kuroda….just seems logical that he would go first. Wish it would be Ned!
Dang I guess you didn’t see my question Nelly on the other thread.
Shad – sorry I didn’t see your question. It was kind of hiding in your stats. They definitely like Wilson more than Romo just based on personality. As much as I have to listen to the man talk at least once a week, he is kind of funny, and if he wasn’t playing for the gnats, I would probably like him too. There are alot of players with great personalities on that team, but they are just wearing the wrong uniform for the time being.
Oh thanks Nelly.
According to the writers sitting in bankruptcy court today, tickets are now in default.
What does that mean?
The question being asked by the writers is how is something set up to collect ticket revenue go into default? The are referencing Sheriff of Nottingham – lol!
It sounds as if there is an account set up just for ticket sales and that account is now in default. I am sure once the proceedings are over, the writers will come out with their version of what transpired today in court.
The one good thing that is being repeated is MLB wants Frank out. I guess it’s just a matter of how long the process will take, and much of that lies with Frank himself and how long he will drag this out.
Frank being gone can’t happen soon enough for me! It’s great to see we are now the majority instead of a minority.
The issue with the ticket sales in default is that that is a separate entity that is not part of the bankruptcy. It is supposedly only to be used to pay creditors. So, I am guessing if it is in default, the creditors are in risk of not getting paid. Frank has really created a tangled mess, hasn’t he?
I love it! I hope it keeps piling on and he is driven out! Come on MLB, do the right thing and give us back our team!
Well, looks like Pentland is the First To Go. Have to agree with this decision. Based on performance, Ned and Conte should have been gone long ago. Frank is too broke to throw Ned under the bus where he belongs.
Shit rolls downhill. No sense in firing Ned Colletti. Hey, let’s fire Pentland! It’s not Ned’s bad decisions and the fact that we didn’t have an offense beyond Ethier and Kemp back in February. It’s Pentland’s fault! Yeah, that’s the ticket.
LOL!! Definately!! Realistically, there is not a hitting coach out there that can fix these turds. They are what they are…SHIT!!
Most are putting up numbers not far from their career stats. And considering that they are almost all way past their prime years, it is not really a surprise that they are declining. I mean, is it really a surprise that Uribum is batting .210. Hell No!! He is a lifetime .230 hitter with a low OBP, is getting older, and is now playing in a pitchers ballpark. Geez!! Why should we have expected more power from Loney? Hell, he never hit for power. These bafoons keep trying to fit square pegs into round holes because they have their collective block heads up their freaking asses!!!
I don’t think it Pentland fault that Uribe, Navarro, Barajas,Thames just plan suck for us.
LOL!! Me neither. They are what they are….Shitty!!!
Maybe Kershaw should be the new hitting coach. Check out the batting averages.
Fecal .167
Nohitto .197
Uribum .208
Kershaw .279
So Pentland is accountable for Fecal, Nohitto, and Uribum? WTF?
Don’t forget Bills and De La Rosa.
Pentland is now gone. Why is Honeycutt still here?
Could ask the same question about Frank, Ned and Rawitch.
“Pentland, 64, was in his 15th season as a major league batting coach, so it’s not like he got hitting stupid overnight.
The greatest hitting coach alive couldn’t have turned Jay Gibbons, Marcus Thames, Dioner Navarro, Juan Castro, Russell Mitchell and the like into feared hitters.”
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dodgers/2011/07/dodgers-locate-offensive-problem-fire-hitting-coach-jeff-pentland.html
Tony Jackson just posted an article on Pentland’s firing. Andre is quoted in the article saying (paraphrasing) it’s our burden that we are not hitting, not Pentland’s. The tone of quotes sounded as though Andre is somewhat that of upset and confused about about it happening and the timing that it happened. Meanwhile, Ned says it was a hard decision – yea right!!! Then make that hard decision and fire Honeycutt too. Better off, why don’t you just retire.
Hi’Ya Nelly. Whenever Ned opens his yap or makes a deal, it makes me sick!! I can’t wait until its his turn to burn. Freaking worthless bafoon will do or say anything to deflect the attention from his incredibly bad decisions.
I also wonder why the hell Honeycutt is still here?! So far, every pitcher that hs left our team is doing quite well somewere else.
I get the feeling that Andre is just itching to get the hell out of this farce of an organization. Can’t say I blame him.
There was this huge comment on the “Abort McCourt” FB Page about how it doesn’t matter who owns the team. The financing is the same. Yes, that may be true, financially, but Frank has emotionally bankrupt this team and it’s fans too. Any player that has some sense moral compass, wouldn’t want to work for this idiot. No, I don’t blame Andre for wanting to leave (if that’s the case). Not one bit!!!
This fan doesn’t blame anyone for wanting out of L.A. Good grief, Frank has driven you and me away! So sad when we won’t support our own team!
Why the hell is Navarro i there?! Nice going Ned….send AJ down and keep this piece of shit!
*in there
Good grief, Nobatro with 2 freaking errors. What a waste!!!
Except for Dre, Matt and Kersh, this whole team is a waste!
Who do we fire for Nohitto’s errors? Maybe fire the bullpen coach.
Boy…Uribe killed that ball! 😉
But, he is still grinding! lmao
LOL!!! Yep, we’re mashing again as Beav would say.
I’d love to do some mashing….please let me!
Nobatro and Uribum fail once again.
Thanks, Uribum for all the nothingness that you do for us. Hard to believe he actually hits worse with runners on base – .174!
Obviously Pentland was the first to go and I think the player’s comments are appropriate. Not sure how it was decided that Pentland was to go but I never understood why the Dodgers had so many so called hitting coaches anyway. I doubt this move shakes up anything; Donnie is the ultimate optomist and that is o.k. with me. But I do have to say I am a bit tired of listening to Vinny give such praise to the Giants, not so much because it is not deserving but because the Giants are getting the job done with not much the same smoke and mirrors the Dodgers employed two seasons ago. They get good pitching and just enough offense. Donnie could not have been more clear on the difference between the Dodgers and Giants: the confidence and swagger. It also helps that the Giants play in front of mostly sold out crowds while the Dodgers now play in front of a lot of empty seats. Vinny made another comment last night late in the game when he mentioned the Giants fans were full of themselves (and rightly so) and that they were all still there. Quite a contrast to what typically happens at Dodger Stadium.
It probably also helps when the players have confidence in the front office, that is the owner and GM.
Donnie certainly didn’t sound happy about the sacking of Pentland. He was down and said this was a “crappy” day on the Dodgers Live pre-game show on Prime Ticket.
I got the feeling that he was not part of the decision, that it came directly from Colletti.
From all that I have heard, the players seemed to like Pentland. He was praised by Barajas on the same show. Rod mentioned how he was always spending lots of time at the batting cage working with the players.
At least ex-Dodger Dave Hansen will get a chance to see if he can make a difference.
Andre 😉
Andre hit the ball 🙂
😉 Mr. Ethier 😉
Everyday Dre 😉
Those of you not watching the Giants feed, Kippenger just showed up in the Giants dugout. What a weird feeling that must be to leave a team (Astros) that is the worst in baseball, and walk into a dugout with a team that is in first place and the reigning WS Champs.
.
As Andre comes out of his slump, it appears Matthew might be going into his.
Good Grief!! We’re already 0 for 8 with RISP and 5 LOB.
But, we are grinding! lmao
:))
BTW – anyone else hearing/reading rumors that the Brewers are interesting in Carroll?
All I heard was he, along with Kuroda, Uribe, Lilly and oters are available. Supposedly, we are “OPEN FOR BUSINESS” 😉
I’ve seen that there has been some interest in Carroll. Actually, he is the only other name mentioned other than Kuroda so far.
I look for Loney to end up with the Brewers next year when we non tender him and Fielder leaves. It would be a great fit for Loney as he hits much better in Mil and most of the NL central venues.
Holy Shit!! Nobatro with a homer. That should lock up a fat 3 year deal. Hope Kersh can make it stand up.
I knew it was going to be a pitching dued but not when oneof the best defesive team make 3 errors and giving up 2 steals.
I woke up just in time.
lol damn I hate waking up and can’t even spell right.
Holy Moly Navarro.
I’m shocked.
I am not surprised Carroll would have value. He has been quite valuable to the Dodgers filling in so much. He is a good guy, a good team player and the type of person I would want on my team. But if he can bring more value in a trade, so be it. Same for Kuroda.
Sure would be nice if we could get a decent 1B, 3B, or C prospect for Carroll, Kuroda, or both.
I think we lock at 1st if they really wanted to play Sands at 1st.
C’mon Kersh!!!
Of course you all realize that as soon as Fecal starts hitting, he will get injured before we can trade his ass.
Exactly!
He got a hit and a walk today, so trade him right now! His shelf life is extremely short.
LOL!! Exactly!! He’s got the shelf life of potato salad left unrefrigerated on a hot day.
Uggghhh – gross!
Nice at bat Andre!!! Come on Matthew!!!
I think Matt is pressing a bit 😉
Yep, he’s starting to swing at those low and outside pitches again. He was laying off of those. Although, from GameDay pitch track, they were some good sliders. Just in or real close.
One Juan is almost as bad as the other Juan. 🙂
LOL!! I’ve got a feeling that this game will come down to whether or not Kersh can finish them off.
I knew we wouldn’t get a run!!!!
Dang Romo is just to dang good and his career number vs us is sick.
Has anyone checked TMZ to make sure Matt isn’t dating Rhianna or any other pop star? It’s just that when Andre does this, it’s always said he just isn’t that good, but when Matt has a bad run, it’s some other excuse. Then there is Furcal and Uribe who just suck all around.
I’m thinging Rihanna is dating Uribe.
( ( 🙂 ) )
*thinking
That’s funny Shad – LOL!!!
But, Donnie loves Fecal and Yawn….they are grinders! 😕
Yep, they do tend to over critcize Andre when they should be focusing on Loney, Uribum, Nobatro, Barfajas, Fecal, etc….l
If Andre is catching this much shit, I can’t see why Loney is getting a free pass.
You mean you can actually find some pitching baragin drafting those guys in the 20’s round.
Yeppie Kershaw one more inning.
Kersh has pitched his ass off! Please Dodgers!! Get this kid his win!!!
Wait Navarro HR was a splash hit.
Donnie…..how much longer will it take you to realize Uribe SUCKS?!
Damn Kershaw could’ve had done that urgh I can’t watch the 9th.
Come on Guerra don’t mess this year.
Rats!! Could of used that insurance run. Cross your fingers and hold onto your seats.
Come on Javy…save this game for Kersh!
Let’s go Javy!!!
Nice always great to get Sandoval out.
Javy says:
Fuck the G’nats and Broxton too!!!
Thank-you Kersh & Javy!
We don’t get many of those 1 2 3 stressful inning. This make me think if we still had Wade would’ve he had close for us.
Why does espn have P Sandoval flied out to right and yahoo always have Sandoval flied out to deep right center?
Because Andre was in right-center when he caught the ball….had him stationed in triples alley.
I know that tru but espn always seem to make me think that it was a routine flyball and not a deep one.
Thank you Javy!!!! What an amazing outing for Kersh!!!
Shad – he hit it to triples alley (which is right-center), and they placed Andre right there.
The Espn play by play is never the same as the yahoo play by play when the ball get hit deep.
Outstanding Kersh and Javy!! Way to go Nobatro. However, you still suck.
“We won one today. We go out and win one tomorrow, its called a winning streak. IT HAS HAPPENED BEFOREE”
Wish Broxton was off the DL. We could probably get something decent for him in a trade, considering his couple of good years and his age.
A bag of potato chips and a Class A player would be too much for him.
Ned would sign him.
Max deal with NTC. That’s the Ned we all know and hate.
Not surprised it took a shutout performance by Kersh to give the Dodgers a chance to win but who would think Navarro would hit one into the water for the only run of the game. Is that the third “game winning” hit for him this season?
I know many of you are big Ethier fans and I like him too. However, if you can rag on Loney for his lack of production when not all that long ago everyone was singing the Loney song, why can’t you wonder about Andre’s lack of power and his problems against lefties. None of the other guys such as Furcal or Uribe are getting a free pass, not here and not in the media. I would still let him play everyday, or at least most of the time and that is what Donnie is doing. If he is frustrated and he is letting that affect his game, that is on him. He is the only one who knows and I trust him to work it out. Same with Matt.
My guess is that people are down on Loney because he isn’t anywhere near the production that he’s had in previous years, including the 88 RBI’s AVG last 2 seasons. If only for that reason, he is not considered an overall crappy 1B but it is because of his lack of power that he scrutinized so much.
In the case of Ethier, he has hit for power before and probably will do so at some point in time again. People are easy to forgive him because of the injury he suffered last season which resulted in his Tripple Crown goal being abandoned. Since the injury, it’s clear that he hasn’t been the same.
If Loney would of gotten an injury, than something could be said to alleviate the criticizing, but he doesn’t, so it’s justified.
Somewhere I read that Ethier has another injury beyond his broken pinkie. It was something related to his knee or leg that surfaced in spring training. Maybe that explains his lack of power this year.
That brings to mind another person who needs to go. Stan Conte! What the hell does he do to earn a paycheck as a trainer?
I’ve been saying he needs to go. Another one of Ned’s signings from his days as a Giant and he’s been terrible. More injuries occuring from being brought back and cleared too early than any other point in time.
It said that his knee was hyperextended or something like that and that he will need arthroscopic surgery in the off season.
For the record, I have never said anything negative about James on this or any other blog/social network. I got my wish a long time ago, and that player is now playing for the White Sox. For James, maybe he needs a little more Andre in him. A little more fire in wanting to be perfect at every at bat, even though it’s impossible. Andre needs a little more James in him. He needs to go with the flow more and not worry about being perfect every at-bat. That is my thoughts on those two.
And they both need alot more Matt Kemp in them. Ethier gets criticized much more because with most every player on this team not performing, we have come to depend too much on him and he is vastly overrated by the Dodger Fans. He is a very good solid player, not a Super Star. Loney is probably not catching as much heat because we have gotten used to not counting on him for much over the last year or so and Uribe, Navarro, Blake, Fecal, Barfajas, Blake, etc… are sucking it up so bad that he is flying under the radar somewhat.
Hey Ned, the team went 0 for 13 with runners in scoring position today. Dave Hansen obviously sucks as the hitting coach. You better fire his ass too! 😉
Next up to go is Honeycutt. Hansen goes after Uribe and Furcal are benched.
Don’t miss dodgereric’s post from earlier this afternoon. He had two links in it and it was held up for approval. WordPress default setting for two links is to prevent spam. I will increase the limit so up to three links will be allowed.
It does not surprise me at all that Frank will fight forever for what he wants. That is his m.o. I read an article a while back that was quite revealing into Frank and Jamie’s way of resolving problems and disputes: shout out the other side until it gives in. Don’t compromise, don’t give a little but just wait out the other side. This is the way they resolved their personal and business disputes according to the article. So anyone expecting a resolution anytime soon that results in Frank leaving town is going to be disappointed.
From Tony Jackson on Twitter:
“dodgerscribe Anthony Jackson
A Dodgers position player who shall go nameless, as we entered clubhouse after game: `Well, that change of hitting coaches worked out well.'”
Way to go Ned. You really sent the players a message. That being to get out of LA as soon as possible.
I bet I know who that person is?
Don’t you just wonder sometimes what players really think? Probably best we don’t know.
I agree it probably is best we don’t know because we probably have it all wrong – lol!!!
Matt going 0-4, with 3 K’s today would be my first pick on who said it based on what was said in the article Dodgereric posted. My 2nd guess would be Tony Gwynn as per the same article.
I bet it wasn’t Uribe! lol
My money is on Ethier.
I didn’t know we had a hitting coach 😕
I think it is safe to say nobody wanted to see Pentland go under the circumstances. So, it could be anyone of them. Frank and Ned just need to go 😦
That is really the bottom line.
Damn it Padres.
Except for Furcal & Uribe, who are just awful, I honestly think all this crap with Frankrupt has to be getting to the players. Even when I watch feeds from other teams, they are talking about the mess we are in and how the players have to be suffering. The Diamondbacks crew even asked a poll question as to whether the Dodgers were affected by the McCrook mess and 60% said yes!
I would agree it is having a negative affect and I think you need to add Barfajas and Nobatro to that awful list. Fecal, Uribum, Barfajas, and Nobatro would suck no matter where they are.
They are on my list for sure! I just get tired of mentioning all of them ALL the time 😉
LOL….a shorter list would be who is so-so to middling!
LOL!!! Yep, the list is long.
Very good article about possible Kuroda trade scenarios:
http://www.feelinkindablue.com/2011/07/what-could-dodgers-get-for-hiroki.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+FeelinKindaBlue+%28Feelin%27+Kinda+Blue%29
It was very interesting. From what I read, we have nothing in our own farm system. Would these minor leaguers make us better?
I don’t read it as we are completely devoid in the farm system. Just that we don’t have anything even remotely close in the areas we need the most. 3B and Catcher. Followed by 1B and 2B.
Translation: Ned will get low level prospects or shitty overage veterans for anything but those positions.
Like John Lennon said, “It can’t get no worse.”
With Frank and Ned still here, unfortunately, it can get worse!!!!
Not much worse….we are downright pathetic.
Oh ye of little faith. Don’t underestimate Frank and Ned. Selig did and look where it got us.
That’s true Jhall. That’s why, as much as some would like it, we can’t get rid of Dre.
U mad bro?: Young Giants fan pouts big time over foul ball
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/U-mad-bro-Young-Giants-fan-pouts-big-time-over?urn=mlb-wp13298
I had the agony of watching this whole thing play out. Krud and Krap kept talking and talking about upset that kid was. Dad was doing the right thing by ignoring the behavior, but akrud and Krap felt sorry for the little boy so they were the ones who got the staff to bring him his own ball. What did that kid learn? If I make a scene on TV, they bring me stuff. Great lesson learned, not! Even Kevin Millar on Intentional Talk thought it was bad parenting, but in this case, it really wasn’t the parent’s fault, it was Krud and Kraps for making it such a big deal.
That kid must have been watching Frank McCourt. He learned from the master pouter.
LOL!!! Exactly!!
Dbacks lost Drew for the season. Fractured ankle sliding home.
Ouch that’s not good at all. Maybe we can hope and pray that they can take Uribe away from us.
