No need to worry that our Ted isn’t rested because of the all-star game, despite the rumors that he made it as the batting practice pitcher. Been trying to find a favorable stat and all I can come up with is a 1.29 WHIP, which is at least decent. Where it gets really ugly is HR (1 allowed every 5 2/3 IP) and SB allowed (21) which is 3 times more than any other pitcher. Given his penchant for throwing the long ball, and given the Snakes penchant for hitting them, this could be a VERY long game. So sit back with your drink of choice and enjoy.
Shad brought it up on ITD that our old friend Charlie Haeger was cut loose from Seattle’s AAA affiliate where his numbers were, shall we say, none too impressive.
They want to limit Rubby’s innings which will probably mean they wouldn’t be able to trade Kuroda because that would be even more innings one or more pitchers would have to eat up.
So here’s my question: Would you bring back Haeger if you could trade Kuroda for some decent prospects knowing full well that Haeger would absolutely stink for the last 2 months of the season?
S
No!! Bring Ely up to cover it. I’m sure we’ve got plenty of arms down on the farm without bringing back Haeger. I don’t look for Ned to trade Kuroda unless we lose the next 7 or 8 straight. I think he will go “All In” with just a 3(Ethier) and 4(Kemp) off suited. And we will be the big losers.
From what I’ve read they can possibly skip over enough of Rubby’s starts to get him through August, but not Sept. Thinking we’ll see Ely for those games for sure. About the only other choice we’d have would be Eveland unless we dip down into AA.
What’s sad is, who put us in this position to begin with Ned by signing two pitchers he knew had injuries.
And it won’t matter in August or Sept. The team is toast now even if they don’t want to admit it. I’m sure Ned will chalk it up to all the injuries and off the field issues. But we all know that this team would not be a serious contender even if healthy and we had a stable ownership. They just don’t have the horses. Just glue factory ready old nags and ponys.
Found you again! 😉
Are we going to just stay here or, go back and forth when, and, if Josh puts up a new thread?
Yes. One or the other!! HAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!
The way I look at it, ITD is one of many places to get some “inside” information. Emma’s video of Wes Parker, that I re-posted here is one of the best interviews with a player that I have ever seen. Wes did not blow off the questions with the typical, scripted cliches that most current players use to finish the interview as quickly as possible so they can split. He made the prospect of facing a major league pitcher with a 95mph pitch come to life. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out. Emma did a great job holding that little Flip camcorder and it looks great when viewed full screen.
We are running this blog ourselves and do not have to put up with time warps (I hope!) or having days or even a week go by and having to scroll down through two or three hundred or more posts to find out where to put a new thought.
Also, even though ITD is a MLBlog which uses the same WordPress software as this, it seems not to be set up the same. Line spaces do not join together here like they do on ITD and do not need a period to separate the paragraphs. I have not tried all the special tags and media displays on ITD but I seem to remember not being able to do something that works here. See some examples of using HTML and displaying media files.
Lastly, everyone here will be granted “author” status which gives you a nice editor to enter your posts.
You also have the ability to edit your posts! No more extra posts with “red pen” or “s/b” required. If you make a typo, just go back and fix it, then update the post.(It works for owner, I need to check if it works for “author”)Already shaping up to be a long day at the plate.
Yep!
Lilly looks like Cano’s Dad….tossing balls up there waiting to be hit!
Ka-Boom!! Thar she blows!!!
( 😉 )
With all the HRs Lilly gives up, its amazing anyone has time to steal a base off him.
So true! It might help him a little if we could actually hit the ball.
Good afternoon all.
US just went ahead of Japan in extra time 2-1 in the womens WC final. Wambach’s head should be gold plated.
Hi…..glad you’re here! I tried to watch the soccer game but, I just don’t like soccer at all. I do want the USA to win though.
Japan just tied it up. 😦
Looks like they’re going to PK’s
Let us know when it’s over.
Exciting game isn’t it?
Rats!!! Japan just won it!!!
Japan wins in PK’s 😦
That suck.
Maybe penalty kicks woud make our ball game more interesting.
I’d like to penalty kick Ned right in the ass for this mess.
Wouldn’t we all? Actually, I believe a kick in his cohones would work too.
LMAO!!!
You know, if there are teams out there that want Carroll, I honestly don’t see what he’s providing us that DeJesus couldn’t. Neither one can drive in a run to save their soul, and with our offense, I doubt you’d see any difference. I’d rather have a prospect, however lowly it may be.
You want us to clean house, don’t you? Right now, I dont blame you one bit!
Can’t see any reason not to Tru. Might as well see what the kids have got while there’s no pressure on them to perform. Carroll’s a FA after this year anyway, as is Blake, Fecal, Kuroda, Gwynn, Barajas, Miles and Navarro.
I agree. I really would like to see what some of the youngsters could do. Most games lately have been painful to watch. what am I saying, lately! The entire season has been painful!
Thar she blows!
Wonderful! There goes the ballgame! A dinger to the pitcher….give me a break!
We’re also fortunate to have Lilly for another two years for, you know, when he starts slowing down.
Slowing down…lmao! Maybe he will retire.
I can’t wait for Bear to compose a thread!
Uribe up. I call DP.
There! I think that at bat put BooRibe below 200!
Uribum, what a piece of shit!!!
Ditto for Barfajas!!!
More like a huge steaming pile!!
LOL!!! They do reek!!!
And, the pile keep growing!
We still can’t score without the other team’s help.
Hey, they’re grinding out there!!
Coming to a grinding halt 😉
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
This game is rolling along predictably well so far. We just need to lose another two out of three against the Giants, and we’ll be just where we need to by the trade deadline. Did see a comment where a couple of contenders are interested in Kuroda, which would make a great deal of sense for us, but then I think “This here is Frank we’re dealing with”. Prospects might be good for our future, but Frank needs Cash Now – so one can imagine where all the good to come out of a Kuroda trade will be going.
Hey Bear! Good to see you!!!
Hawksworth’s like a box of choc-o-latts. You never know what you’re going to get…
POOF!!!
How about 2 runs!
Heh, heh, heh….. Hawksworthless!!!
Fecal….batting .170….and, Donnie says he is going to keep playing him……why?
Maybe its time for another team meeting… they can order out for some grinders.
Hello,
Lilly thru up batting practice today…What else is new
I threw up too after watching him!
I love how that hit stole his QS away.
Mark Grace just said Jansen is a biscuit away from 240lb lol
I think we just got a new nickname for Jansen – Biscuit.
We’ve got a biscuit and two Mendozas!
Hello Tru and Enchanted
Hi, Dodgerzona!
Hey DZ!
Hi’Ya DZ!!!
How is everyone? What does Ned “schmooze ” Colletti do at the deadline? Sell the farm…..I say Lilly need’s to go away….Bring back D. Gordon
With Ned it does’t matter whether we buy or sell. We’ll get screwed.
Sit or trade Furcal
Hey it could’ve been worse – Lilly usually gets pounded harder than an old French whore. Just leave your 20 francs on the dresser on your way out!
Honestly when and if do you all think McCourt is out as owner?
Thank u
Was telling Tru a couple games ago that I see the Mayan calendar running out before Frank’s.
LOL Enchanted
Well Jansen did his jobe. Now can the bats do it without divine intervention?
NOPE!
Adios!
Hey 32 – thanks for the new forum for us diehards!!
You are very welcome! I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to see that you picked up the ball and ran with it, or should I use the baseball metaphor…you stepped up to the plate and hit it out of the yard by posting your first thread. I just got back from the memorial service for my wife’s cousin at 10PM and was happy to see such a great response to your thread. Like I said before, this is OUR blog, not mine. I just got the ball rolling. You and the other regulars own this forum. We are all Outside the Dodgers looking in. We all can and probably will check other sites like Tony Jackson ESPN Los Angeles, Dodger Thoughts, the Dodger MLB site, and many others, then come back here and talk about the team.
After I finish this reply, I will add everyone who was a first time commenter here today as an “author” so they too have the option of starting a new thread. Thanks for leading the folks here today.
Ya thanks 32
You’re quite welcome. Nice to see you here.
I agree….thanks 32!
You are most welcome Jane! You have, to use a little geocaching lingo, a FTF (first to find) here. You were the first person from ITD to post a reply here and the first to achieve that mysterious and powerful “author” status!
I am looking forward to reading your first thread topic. You have done a great job getting Dodger fans to friend each other on Facebook. Maybe you can pass the word and invite your readers there to come and check this place out. 🙂
Thanks 32/53!!! Good job!!
You’re welcome. I’m glad you found it.
Well, the good side of things is we didn’t help the gnats out today.
However, I am tired of watching the gnats pull out these extra inning games.
Good evening all. Not been able to read, watch, or do much other than work for awhile lately. I hope all is well. I was just chatting with Nelly and mentioned that Heager was released and maybe Ned might try to sign him due to trading HK. She said that you were all talking about that here. Do we all know Neddy or what!!Thanks for setting this up 32. We definitely needed it. I might be going to the Phone Booth on Tuesday to try to get some autographs and possibly the game — we’ll see. If I make it maybe I’ll post on my adventures. I say trade anyone that isn’t young and promising. The only problem with that is as someone stated they might just be traded for cash. They need to sell and rebuild the farm.
Last year the Giants were 4 out at the break and just made it on the last day and played well the 2nd half. I don’t see the Dodgers making up 12.5 games in that same amount of time. Even with a roided up Manny. So Ned needs to use that thing on the inside of his skull.
What kind of Dodgers fan are you? What kind of Dodgers fan am I?
Are you in for the long-term? Are you in for the quick win? Does your hatred for the Giants over-ride your hope for the long-term Dodgers viability?
Here’s the conundrum. If the Dodgers sweep the Giants (ok, now I’m dreaming), that puts Ned back in the position of thinking that he should be a buyer. If the Dodgers get swept, hopefully that nails down our need to be a seller. I know it’s hard to root for the Giants.
So, who do you want to win in this series?
I don’t care if we win another game as long as we BEAT THE GIANTS!!!!!!! Just look on the bright side…if we win and the Dbacks win, perhaps the Gnats will be out of first place real soon. That would make me very happy.
I live and work with gnat fans, and I can’t give them the satisfaction of them thinking I want them to win….ever. I doubt we will sweep, but since the Dodgers most likely aren’t going to make to the playoffs, I am pulling for the Dbacks to win our division, with the Pirates or the Braves getting the wild card, assuming the Phillies and Cardinals take those divisions. However, we can never rule out the Rockies coming thru out of nowhere just like they have year after year. So, in short, can’t root for the gnats. They are too close to home, literally 🙂
It has been almost a week and Josh finally put a new thread on ITD. Not much fun when we take the back seat to twitter and Facebook.
