Moody Blues – Days of Future Passed

Evening: Time To Get Away
John Lodge

Evening has come to pass
The time of day doesn’t last
Evening has earned its place today
I’m tired of working away

Working, living it brings
Only way to have those things
Toiling has bought too many tears
Turn round all those past years

Evening time to get away
Evening time to get away
Evening time to get away
Till next day

Frank McCourt visits Joe Pierre, AKA Old Brooklyn Fan, at his seat during the ITD Tour game, then ignores him to bask in the adoration of other fans. (Click picture to see other photos from the ITD Tour, June 2009)

There have been many moods in the world of Dodger blue in the last couple of years.  When Frank McCourt spent a few hundred dollars to bring Joe Pierre from Brooklyn to Los Angeles in June 2009, he received back many times that amount in good will from Dodger fans.  He personally met and posed for pictures with many fans.  He frequently watched the game from his seat next to the dugout.  Our mood was good.

It has been two years and many events have unfolded to bring us to the ugly mood of today.   McCourt now is nowhere to be seen.

While he does not embrace it, for Frank, evening has come to pass.  It is time for him to relinquish control.  It is evening and time for him to get away.  Evening time to get away.

We can hardly wait until the next day.

This Day in Dodgers History

On August 12, 1984 – Former Dodgers Don Drysdale and Pee Wee Reese along with Twins slugger Harmon Killebrew, American League hurler Rick Ferrell, and perennial all-star shortstop Luis Aparicio are inducted into the Hall of Fame.

  1. To coin a phrase: “Thanks for the memories”. That was a great day for us bloggers. The atmosphere and experience of that tour was almost a religious experience for me. Yeah, I know, I’m strange 😉

I enjoyed it too, Sparkleplenty. Kind of sad that since that day, I’ve only been back to the ravine twice. I love Dodger Stadium but, I hate McCourt even more! Deep down, I know the players feel the same way and, understand the lack of fans attending the games has nothing to do with them…it’s a statement of our displeasure with Frankrupt!

Kahli was replying to lbirken on ITD and brought up the ITD Tour. As Kahli/Kpookie said, (paraphrasing)how things have changed in just a couple years. Let’s hope in the near future we can get back to that way of viewing this once beloved Dodger organization. It would be great to go into the Hot Stove Season being FranknNed Free.

  2. dodgereric says:

(The outfielder) Marshall lasted just about as long in this fight as he did in the field as a player.

  3. nedisajerk says:

Is about time we sign Chris Reed.

  4. trublu4ever says:

#12, Inspector Clouseau, in the lineup, batting 8th.

  5. selltheteam says:

We’re only a half game out of last place. It won’t be long now.

  6. messagebear says:

Hey, if you’re solidly in fourth place, why be just mediocre – go all the way, go for LAST. Maybe we need Uribe back in order to put us over the top on that challenge.

  7. selltheteam says:

An infield of Loney, Eugenio4ever, Clouseau, and Uribe ought to do the trick.

  8. In the “What Could Possibly Go Wrong” catagory:

Reed posted a 1.80 ERA in 45 relief innings during his junior season. HE STRUGGLED IN HIS LONE START.

Though he was used primarily out of the bullpen while at Stanford, THE DODGERS SEE IM AS A MAJOR LEAGUE STARTING PITCHER.

  9. Dodger dawg 32 says:

That’s the Dodger way. Take a pitcher and turn him into a hitter like Loney, and take a reliever and make him a starter. Maybe Loney would’ve had more value as a pitcher? It’s funny when Loney was drafted every other team saw him as a pitcher, I guess other teams were wrong? Then again the Dodgers or should I say Ned saw Velez as a ball player. Thanks Bear for keeping me company on ITD. That kiss ass Josh only writes about unimportant things. He doesn’t have the balls to write what’s really going on there. Then again maybe he needs his job. I hope Lopes is safe after speaking the truth.

  10. Dodger dawg 32 says:

That would really suck, but then again it wouldn’t be surprising considering that Frankrupt has zero class, and can’t handle the truth.

  11. trublu4ever says:

Gnats lost 2 – 1….come on Dbacks, extend your lead over those scumbags!

  12. trublu4ever says:

Yoo-Hoo….doesn’t anybdy want to come out and play tonight?!

  13. See we’re finally playing someone with as little league a line-up as ours. Should be a good series.

  14. What do you put the odds at we see Navarro again next year? I think 60/40 we will.

  15. Was sitting here thinking, “What can this team do?” and it reminded me of this scene from The Three Amigos:

  16. Frank and Ned when no one’s looking:

  17. trublu4ever says:

Beav is bored as hell and he’s not going to take it anymore!

  18. vl4eccjr says:

    Good evening all.
Just watching the game on FSN Houston.
That’s a pretty pathetic looking crowd. I guess it’s to be expected with the suck-o-meter in the red from both these teams.
    Ruh roh! It’s Grrrear!

  19. Welcome to L.A. Nathan. Goodluck getting your team to score you any runs.

  20. trublu4ever says:

    33,642…paid attendance.

  21. selltheteam says:

With two offenses this inept, it’s no wonder no fans show up. Will probably be fewer tomorrow. I don’t think this is what you’d call a classic pitchers’ duel.

    I’m offended!

  22. trublu4ever says:

    YAY…JUAN!

  23. selltheteam says:

Now I will be offended if they can’t score Rivera – oops – they will have to score Eugenio4ever!

  24. Great hit by Rivera. Let’s see what happens zzzzzzz

  25. What are the odds we score? 50-50?

  26. vl4eccjr says:

How can they be that scared of Novarro to walk him? LOL

  27. trublu4ever says:

    F*ck!

  28. trublu4ever says:

    PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. I’m just glad we’ve got such a strong bench that it doesn’t matter who you put in there.

  30. Well, 9 innings of this crap is enough for me. Catch you all later.

  31. 32and53fan says:

I just walked in after a day of dealing with plumbing problems. The score was 0-0, bases loaded, bottom of ninth. Miles worked the count full then it looked like he swung at ball four to ground out.

  32. Casey!!! Let’s bring him home, ok?

  33. trublu4ever says:

    BISON!!!

  34. 32and53fan says:

10th inning, runners at first and second with no outs. If they don’t score now something is seriously wrong!

    Never mind. 🙂

  35. Nellyjune says:

Way to go Matthew!!! Thank you for putting us out of our misery of having to watch that game any longer 🙂

  36. 32and53fan says:

Wow! We were able to eke out a victory scoring one run against the worst team in the major leagues. We are awesome!

  37. nedisajerk says:

lol wow what’s the point of IBB twice to set up the DP when the Astros aren’t going anywhere. I can’t believe they walk Ethier like that to get to Kemp and if they were smart than you walk Kemp to. Well there no rules say when you have 1st and 2nd with no outs and your worst hitter who ran for Rivera batting you let him beat you in this spot so you walk Kemp to get to Velez.

  38. selltheteam says:

Damn! We didn’t get to see Eugenio4ever swing the bat!

  39. How ya doing guys?
I see you opened a new forum.
I’ll see if I can get in on my own.

    • 32and53fan says:

Welcome Joe! 🙂 Glad to have you here. You may want to browse through some of the posts over the last couple of weeks or so to get an idea of who is here and what they are thinking. You might even find some of the posts amusing. Notice that I am not the only one who creates the post of the day (using my GiveUsBackOurTeam AKA name.) A few others have also contributed to this blog. It is by and for Dodger fans.

I created this site because people were looking for unused threads on ITD to post because there were hundreds of comments due to the fact that Josh Rawitch did not create a new post for several days. He is devoting much of his P.R. time to tweeting on Twitter and posting on Facebook. I put his tweets on the side of this blog so ironically it is this blog that keeps more up to the minute Dodger news than the official Inside the Dodgers blog.

This blog also works better. You can post images. See this link to see how to do that. You can also use line spaces without having to put a . in between lines. I also grant editor privileges so people can create their own posts and edit their comments.

      Hope to see you again.

  40. O.K. I’m back.
    I bookmarked it.

    Hi everyone!
    .
    OBF,
I will be in New York on Wednesday evening. My friend Abby got tickets to see the Brooklyn Cyclones on Thursday evening. On Saturday we are going to an SABR/Baseball Prospectus event at Citi Field and then take the ballgame with the Brewers. We probably take on a play. She said she is having fun planning stuff around my time. Hopefully I’ll see you and TrueBlueWill. I also left note for Mike (TrolleyMike). He said he will try to see me at the Cyclone game.
