I can think of one word for our current state:
UNACCEPTABLE!!!!
Frank should fire Ned immediately for his latest trade debacle. He should have been gone after the Andruw Jones and Juan Pierre signings. With the fans on a boycott and not a whole lot to get excited about this season, bringing in TRob to play LF would have been a positive diversion and at least some reason for optimism going forward in these dark ownership and GM times.
Ned Colletti has done as much to destroy the Dodgers on the field as Frank has to destroy them off the field. Even with the McCourts raping the team for their own personal interests, the team could have remained respectable and competitive on the field if we had a good/real GM and not a castoff G’aint and Cub PR guy.
Unfortunately, it looks like it is going to take a long time to fix the ownership and financial problems now that it is in our court system. However, a good first step in starting the resurrection of the Dodger franchise is immediately available.
FIRE NED COLLETTI!!!!
This Day in Dodgers History
On August 7,2003 – Fireballer Eric Gagne ties the single-season record for consecutive saves to start a season established in 1995 by Jose Mesa of the Indians. The Dodger closer strikes out the Reds’ side in the ninth inning for his 38th save this season and 46th consecutive regular-season save overall.
See, you did it 😉
LOL!! Actually, I went to church and when I got home it was up here. Divine intervention??? I did pray for God to smote Frank and Ned and cast them from Dodgerland. Neddy just needs to go away as his only crime is being an idiot. Frank should burn in hell!!!
FIRE COLLETTI, INDEED!!!!!
I could not agree more……FIRE COLLETTI….It does seem like McBroke will be around for awhile
Todays line-up
1. Carroll
2.Miles
3.Ethier
4.Kemp
5.Rivera
6.Loney
7.Navarro
8.Velez
9.Kershaw
Thanks for the lineup Grizzy.. Kersh should be batting 6th in this lineup!!!!
Velez should of been DFA along time ago
I can’t understand the reasoning of EVER putting Eugenio4ever in the lineup! I agree, he should be DFA!!!!!
No reason at all Tru unless Blake just can’t go. Of course we’re talking about DilDon. They should just bring up DeJesusJr and DFA Velez!! Geez!!!!
Go Kersh, Go Dodgers!!!! And Go Phillies!! Beat those G’Aints!!!
Kersh has to be saying: “WTF, you want me to win, don’t you?!” “This is the best you can put around me, Donny?” 😉
Sadly Tru, with what Ned has assembled, this is the best he can do. At least there is no Uribe. I don’t think it is a coincidence that the team has played better since he went on the DL.
Good Morning OTDers!! To think the word “UNACCEPTABLE” used to be for the little things the team/manager did wrong. Now it is used to represent the organization as a whole. It’s a very sad state of affairs all around. All you can hope for is the players continue to play and find some encouragement that at least they gave it their all considering the horrendous things their owner and GM have put them through.
Well said Nelly
Not to belabor the point and it is too soon to know for sure but to me the crucial issue here is Kuroda’s no trade clause and his decision not to waive it. Ned has traded away or refused to resign a lot of players (some because of the uncertainty of injury) during his tenure but few have become big stars (yet). If Robinson becomes one and the catcher we received does not, we will be talking about this deal for years. But we will need to remember all the details. Of course, had Russell Martin not stumbled during the second half of the past few seasons and had he not suffered the injury, there may have been no need for a catcher. This is not to defend Ned in any way but only to suggest that nothing happens in a vacuum.
Hi’Ya Birky. You make a good point. At the time Ned traded Santana, we had a huge hole at 3B and it looked like Martin was going to take care of the catching nicely for at least the next 3 to 4 years. It actually did make sense at the time. Unfortunately, the way it has worked out, we came out on the short end of the stick.
The TRob trade clearly trumps the Santana deal as far as pure stupidity. We basically traded away a top 5 major league ready prospect that plays a position we have a huge hole at, for 3 low to mid level at best prospects that were no better than what we already have in the system. Theo cleaned Neds clock!!!
Never fear, we have Uribe, Velez, GrrRear & McDooDoo, just to name a few 😉
I don’t think we need a 2nd baseman since Martin was drafted as a 2nd baseman and of course he could’ve played some 3rd.
Gordon
T-Rob
Ethier
Kemp
Santana
Sands
Martin
Carroll
Oh man why couldn’t we stay put? Did we really need to trade for a 3rd baseman and yes Dewitt was struggling but seriously he was not doing well like he did in his rookie season but he still was the best option and that Blake trade was a surprise to me.
Logan White for GM 2012
Anybody for Owner 2012
Not named McBroke
TR would have looked mighty good in LF. I’m sure the Mariners and the Sox love Ned. Unfortunately Dodger fans do not, but he is helping the boycott by being Ned.
Trayvon would have provided a lot of grist for the PR/Marketing mill. Vinnie, et al could have trumpeted his local Los Angeles boy roots. A product of the MLB urban initiative and RBI program, he could have been promoted to get more urban fans in the seats.
Seattle can’t claim the local angle. They can just play a good major league player in left field.
Way to go James Anthony Loney!!!
Question – what is the “story” behind that big grass stain on Matt’s left shoulder? It’s ALWAYS there – even at the beginning of a game.
This Day In Sports History: 2004
August 7th, 2004: Greg Maddux’s 300th win
I know we doing Dodgers history but Maddux got career wins 300th.
rockies lost..woohooo..now lets pray gnats lose too..
Well, THAT wasn’t very nice 😦
there goes kershaw’s win..
his SO’s are there but 2 HR’s today..that’s unheard of..
Look like he’s going to be 5-2 against the dback if they don’t rally back.
Kersh has struggled through his last two starts. Just hoping nothing is wrong . . . .
We could’ve moved into 3rd places with the Rockies losing to.
Yeah, that would have been sweet.
we could of been back the gnats 8 games had they lost and we won..
I guess Kershaw is human after all. After a 0.93 ERA in his last five starts, today’s 5.68 ERA for this game brought him closer to Earth. Still, it only bumped up his season average from 2.68 to 2.79.
Look like the Pirates came back to Earth fast when they got screw in Atlanta.
would of made it interesting seeing the pirates back in the playoffs..
Just wondering how much longer they are going to keep Velez on this team? Also, why the hell can’t Blake play three games in a row?! Suck it up, man! Lucky James finally hit one or, we would have had nothing at the bottom of our order, When you are facing their “Ace”, shoudn’t you send the best you’ve got out there? I know Kersh was off today but, we could have pulled it out for him.
To me, this is UNACCEPTABLE!!!!
its PREPOSTEROUS..
hopefully uribe is done for the season and velez gets hurt thinking about his 1st hit..
Any game that we start Eugenio4ever, we deserve to lose. That’s on both Mattingly and Colletti.
Right! Our chances are slim enough to even think of making the playoffs but, when Donny puts shit like that out on the field, it sets us back even further…..we can’t afford to lose any games right now. Maybe Mattingly would rather go on vacation come October!
Where’s the Piano Man when we need him?
We really do need him!
Damn I didn’t know someone can hit a ball 471 feet but the Angels rookie did.
3rd M Trumbo homered to left center (471 feet).
What makes it even more special is that if it weren’t for Kendrys Morales not being able to play, he’d still be in the minors.
